1. Making the tax cuts permanent will have ABSOLUTELY NO POSITIVE EFFECT on the present economic situation.

2. The present economic situation can be seen to have resulted from cheap money/weak dollar caused by a Fed that decided to stimulate a falling economy by dropping rates to HISTORIC LOWS. Why did the Fed step in? Because the Bush administration, instead of increasing the debt and stimulating the economy by spending, decreased the tax base by giving tax breaks to those who did little or nothing to stimulate the economy.

3. People have been duped and had it slipped to them for years now and don't even have the common sense to realize it.

I think these 3 are paid volunteers in the clinton campaign just to keep an eye and post negative comments on every blog, even when it has nothing to do with the topic being discussed.

What economic principles say you should increase taxes while in a hard economic slowdown? Even the Keynesians don't agree with that approach Obama. Who's advising you on your economic policies? Herbert Hoover?

As a Democrat, I had enormous respect for John McCain when he took this position and I am now disappointed in him. There is a greater defecit and the wars are costing more and more everyday. His logic was right the first time and, other than political maneuvering, there was no legitimate reason to change that position.
