 Spitzer resigned his post Wednesday.
Spitzer resigned his post Wednesday.

NEW YORK (CNN) - For those who can't get enough of the sex scandal that brought down New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer, Sirius Satellite Radio has launched what it is calling "Client 9 Radio," a special channel dedicated to covering all aspects of the Spitzer saga.

The new station began broadcasting Friday at 5 p.m. ET, the company announced. Programming will continue only until midnight on March 17, a statement from Sirius said.

Spitzer resigned Thursday after a federal probe looking into suspicious money transfers linked him to a prostitution ring.

He apologized for not living up to expectations, but did not admit to anything specific. Spitzer has not been charged with any crime.

The new channel was launched in response to strong interest shown by Sirius' audiences in the story, the company said.

It will offer a "forum for this national conversation," where listeners are invited to call in and discuss all aspects of the story.

Additionally, "Client 9 Radio" will offer segments produced with Sirius commentators and experts, such as Judith Regan and Bill Bennett, the statement said.

Leave the guy alone the press is already trying to blame that on Hillary too i don't see how but she has been blamed for everything thats said about Baraki as it is you know if she is that influencal to so many people she should make one he_ _ of a PRESIDENT !!!

All Spitzer has to do is denounce those call girls.

Nick, Columbus, Ohio   March 15th, 2008 6:23 pm ET

Sirius is well within their rights to have a, "Client 9" radio station. If you don't like it, simply don't listen to it, flip the station. It is that easy people.

Rosa   March 15th, 2008 6:23 pm ET

So what's the channel for Larry Craig, Mark Foley... oh wait, it must be more of that biased liberal news media. Ridiculous that there is even a channel dedicated to this. Can't anyone move on from anything in this country and focus on something that really matters?

Chris11   March 15th, 2008 6:19 pm ET

You can't take anything serious on sirius... they love controversy, they fuel divisiveness, oppression, and anything sexual. This has got to be the most absurd topic CNN could post.

Please media let the family have peace they have alot of other things to be worried about ,like jail .What about the call girl she is getting rich off some one else misery. This could have been avoided if spitzer just would have been faithful he would not be in this mess now..

Judith Regan–give us a break. Hell, isn't she a quasi hooker? What will she be offering, a critique of Ashley's technique?

Regan is the same slimeball who put out a statement excoriating those who exploit women while knowingly having an affair with a very married Bernie Kerik–at an apartment intended to benefit 911 recovery workers. Give us a break.

Spitzer is a bad guy and merits the spectacle he's generated. On the other hand, the Sirius "expert" commentator Bill Bennett whom you cite–could he be the same William Bennett who served under Bush senior, then wrote a best seller about "Virtue," then was discovered to have a million-dollar gambling addiction?

Jeff   March 15th, 2008 5:11 pm ET

You pay people for this crap and then put it under politics? Thanks for dumbing down America just a little bit more.

Amir Nawabi   March 15th, 2008 5:08 pm ET

The personal confusion and delusion that Eliot Spitzer suffers from is obviously one of the things that brought him down. Aside from his arrogance it is shocking that he has the nerve to talk about the subject of glory during his resignation. I read in the Times the other day that he said something like the glory is not in that you don't fall but that you rise each time. Who is he to talk about glory at a time like this, how could he think that we want to hear his opinion on what and how glory is achieved. He should be talking about shame, and how he needs to earn the forgiveness of his family after publicly discracing himself and humiliating them.

Bob   March 15th, 2008 4:53 pm ET

Seems like Eliot may have wound up on the wrong side of somebody.

If this has been going on for 10 years, why now is it all of a sudden a big problem?

Then of course, we have the question regarding clients 1 thru 8 and 10 to whatever. Who are they? I think Eliot may be small potatoes to the rest of the client list. Isn't anyone else interested in knowing who the "unknown" are?

Just thought I'd ask.

Cheryl   March 15th, 2008 4:51 pm ET

I still find it hard to believe this guy was elected. I suppose his rotten, abusive, bulldog and blantant nature was not known until it was to late......Sure, it's fine going after the bad guys. However, it is never good to bully people. My only sympathy is with the wife....

Maybe we can talk about how CNN just aired a piece on the candidates, gave Hillary a big block of time (like 10 mins) to talk about her plans for the country and why she's qualified and then they go to commercial and when the commercials are done there's just dead air. Ok, so much for hearing what the other candidates are offering.

Shame on you CNN...

Just come out and endorse Hillary already so we all know you're compromised as an accurate source of info

Slight correction here, since I don't think some of you understand:

John McCain, Ed Koch, et al. have nothing to do with this radio show. The only thing they have in common is they're on TheLeftNut's "Don't Listen To List".

Having said that, I agree with the proposition that enough has already been made of this.

What Spitzer did was abominable on at least several accounts:

1) Paying for a prostitute is illegal, whether you think it should be or not.

2) He was the governor, and before that the Attorney General of NY. That gives him that much *more* reason to be obeying the law.

3) He *prosecuted* prostitution rings, apparently at the same time he was frequenting a prostitute.

4) Beyond all that, he used public money to *pay* for the prostitute(s).

There's no way to paint this as purely a private matter.

Hello – this is another radical right wing tactic to help McCain win the election. The dollar is at record lows, oil at record highs no end in sight to a tanking economy that we might even have to stop using the "r" word and go to the much stronger "d" word.

So what should the voters be focusing on? Why a sex scandal of course! That's SO much more important than people's lives and livelihoods being trashed.

Let's see. The hooker's lawyer is complaining because "racy" pictures are posted on the Internet. Of course Dupre didn't pose for those pictures. I'm sure she used a body double, the same way she's not guilty of prostitution. She was only performing a service to a political figure.

Let's face it. The only difference between the hookers on Seventh Avenue and Ms. Dupre is the price. Is it really necessary to devote a radio program to this ..... this whatever?

rebecca   March 15th, 2008 2:18 pm ET

I heard that when Spitzer was 'caught,' Wall Street cheered.

This is probably related. Their piggy little moneygrubbing paper ruffling stiff-collar executives probably had this equation in mind.

William   March 15th, 2008 12:43 pm ET

Come on. John McCain and Ed Koch have better things to do than tie themselves to the Eliot Spitzer debacle.

And what does it say about this society that Sirius Radio would think they could profit and draw customers by broadcasting this trash?

Americans would do far better to educate themselves on the real issues facing this country and not waste time on a has-been governor's tawdry sex life.

We have real problems that need real solutions – and we need them soon. Issues like our dependence on foreign oil, the state of the economy, the war in Iraq, and climate change. There is no way Eliot Spitzer's dallying can hold a candle to any of those problems.

And what will Americans do when the bills all come due on the real issues? Probably cry and whimper and blame someone else for their troubles.

Wake up, America. On all of the real issues, individuals can do far more to help our current state than an unwilling and preoccupied Washington.

Tune out the Client 9 channel and get busy working on things that will actually impact your lives and the lives of your children.
