State Department confirms breach on Obama's passport file

(CNN) - The State Department has confirmed a breach on Sen. Barack Obama's passport file, his campaign told CNN.

"This is an outrageous breach of security and privacy, even from an administration that has shown little regard for either over the last eight years," said Obama campaign spokesman Bill Burton in a statement. "Our government's duty is to protect the private information of the American people, not use it for political purposes."

The campaign called for "a complete investigation" to find out who looked at Obama's passport file and why.

While it is not proper what was done – he who protest too much about it maybe has something to hide?

I think it's so pathetic that people have to stoop so low to cause more problems for Sen. Obama...Why can't people just leave him alone...It's disgusting!

God, please forgive me if I'm wrong but something tells me she is behind this and its one of many tricks she has in her bag.

(note I didn't identify who "she" was...you fill it in)

This is OUTRAGEOUS!!.and a clear violation of Senator Obama's rights as a citizen of this country. There is no way that the administration can cal the an imprudent access or call it anything UNTIL an investigation is completed.

Hillary supporters, please understand that your candidate will not give up information that, by law, is to be public forum. In this situation, laws were broken to obtain information that, legally, is not to be in public forum. There is no hiding. There is a huge violation of Constitutional rights and laws.

With a person of his position don't you think that the government already knows when and where he has been? I am a very, very low level gov. employee, but best believe that I do not make travel arrangements without someone knowing it. This sounds more like personal curiosity, about like hospital employees looking at Spears' medical history.

Oh Yes, Lets talk about something else and lets forget about Wright and Obama. That' s what it smells like to me.
I feel this is some strategy to keep our minds off this mean ole spirited reverend, and it's written Obama all over it.....
It's not working ...Obama turn off the lights the party is over!

Something smells in this situation. Why would any one want to know where Obama traveled, unless there is some place he should not have been? More loose baggage, in the closet!

What information is there that Obama doesn't want someone to know? Does a presidential candidate have a secret?

  17. NO WAY

Nice Obama! Nice way to garnish sympathy. Tell the world the government is violating your rights. That way you can cover up for the Reverend Wright scandal. If people buy it, that is. Which I don't. No sympathy here. You still need to go.

  18. Outrageous

Bush has turned the government to Republican contractors bit, by bit. These people don't have the government's interest in mind and are there for money only.

I hope someone will decide to investigate this breach of privacy, and treat it seriously.

If it happened three times, more than three employees should be fired. This is outrageous.

Don't worry. When HRC becomes America's next president she was pardon you just like her husband Bill did for all those involved in Watergate.

This is beyond outrageous. Billary and the republicains are certainly behind this. Watch your back Senator Obama. They'll try everything to try and stop real change in this country.

People get offended when WE honest citizens criticize what this country has become. Where does it stop?!? At what point do you realize that this type of repugnant activities has a direct effect on your personal life. Get a clue people. This is what I would expect to happen in a third world Banana republic!

Same thing happened to Bill Clinton during his campaign. Did they find out who did it then? Stop attacking Hillary and dividing the party further. I would most likely think these contractors would be linked to the Bush administration.

Kris from Atlanta – You don't make sense. The Obama campaigned didn't notify the media. The media actually notified McCormick who notified Secretary Rice. The State Dept then notified Obama. Please be informed before you post rubbish!.
