(CNN) - Sen. Barack Obama Friday called for an investigation into how the security of the passport files of the three remaining presidential candidates was breached.
The State Department admitted Friday that the passport files of Obama, Sen. Hillary Clinton and Sen. John McCain had been accessed without authorization.
"One of the things that the American people count on in their interactions with any level of government is that if they have to disclose personal information that it stay personal and stay private," Obama said in Portland, Oregon.
"And when you have not just one but a series of attempts to tap into people's personal records, that's a problem not just for me, but for how our government is functioning," he said.
Obama said he expected "a full and thorough investigation" by the administration done in conjunction with congressional oversight committees.
The State Department's inspector general has already started an investigation, department officials said.
Attorney General Michael Mukasey said the Justice Department had not launched an investigation and did not expect to unless it was asked by the inspector general.

this post is in reference to the nafta issue. i can never get anything posted or comments are always closed. nafta was signed in the beginning of the clintons years. Ohio did know hillary was for nafta ,but she was not comfortable with many issues of the trade agreement and questioned them. She admitted this in ohio many times in her speaches and interviews. It isnt working to benefit many and thats WHY she wants to reopen it. She did not LIE. cnn has backed her up on how she stands. they need to run a story on this. Some people in ohio maybe have missed the story. She not lieing.

On January 22nd, the Hillary Clinton Campaign releases a video that proves that Obama lied about his position on "single-payer healthcare."
The video compares statements Obama made during the January 21st Democratic debate with those he made to an AFL-CIO conference in June 2003 while campaigning for the Senate. Contradicting what Obama said at the debate, the old footage shows the senator saying, "I happen to be a proponent of single-payer universal healthcare coverage. That’s what I’d like to see."
At the debate, Obama stated: “I never said that we should try to go ahead and get single-payer (healthcare)."
Single-payer healthcare is an euphemism for socialized medicine.
Come on people. This is a case of a few bored government clerks looking up significant names. If the truth be told, I bet Nicole Smith, Tom Cruise, and PeeWee Herman were also looked at. Its a non-issue, all three candidates were looked at. Sure came at an oportune time for Obama, though. Get us all to forget Wright and "typical white person".

Why wasn't this a big story back when McCain and Clinton were snooped on? Obama was the last one and that brought out the big story. Did CNN know about McCain and Clinton before it came out about Obama? I haven't heard an answer to that one yet.

The Bush administration should be shame and investigated their shelves for allowing Obama records to be open for review. Obama has secret service protection.

Wright comments was back in the year 2001 not recent I believe the Clinton's pay for the tapes then put them on the internet for the world to see but Bill Clinton was in a photo opt with Wright is Bill a racist.
