Detroit Mayor: 'I look forward to complete exoneration'

DETROIT, Michigan (CNN) - Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick defiantly declared his innocence just an hour after a prosecutor charged him with perjury and other felonies.

"This has been a very flawed process from the beginning," said Kilpatrick. "I look forward to complete exoneration."

Earlier Monday, Wayne County Prosecutor Kym L. Worthy announced that she would charge Kilpatrick with multiple counts of perjury, obstruction of justice and misconduct in office in connection with accusations that Kilpatrick lied in court about a romantic affair and the firing of police officers.

Lacking any reference to political affiliation, let me take a wild guess that this bum is a democrat. This always seems to be the case when the dominant liberal media protects its own .

That's why women should better a leader than men. Male polticians are more corrupted than female politicans.

Kurtis- it wasnt the CONTENT of the lie, it was the fact that he lied under oath. In addition, that very same trial was one that ended up costing the citizens of detroit 9 million dollars. It was an investigation into whether the mayor was using state issued phones, and security detail to cover up his personal extra-marital affair. it was about MISUSE of government property. It was about corruption. It wasn't about the affair itself, it was about all he did to conceal it, including this lying under oath. He's cost these people, people who can NOT afford additional taxes MILLIONS. It's something that is not to be swept under the rug.

Time for democrats to unite. Time for democrats to stop fighting between ourselves. We all know that Obama has won twice as many states as Hillary, and won almost a million popular vote than Hillary. Mathematically hillary cannot win the nomination against the will of the people. Even the big states that Hillary claims to have won, it's not a huge margin. The media is trying to divide the democrats based on issues like race & comments from Obama's former Pastor. I am a pastor myself, I am white, 45 years old, What Obama's pastor said was completely true, he was referring to the injustice America has commited in killing of innocent people. We all talk about 4000 american troops killed. Is anyone, as a christian, thinking about the millions of Iraqi civilians killed in this war ? The Media is silent on these things. If Jesus Christ was here right now, he will say the same things as Obama's former pastor said. It doesn't mean Obama's former pastor is not patriotic, from a pastor's standpoint, I understand his words. The media should stop being a negative propaganda. We all know that Hillary, McCain & Bush all were responsible for this war. The only true candidate I respect is Sen. Obama. We as a nation fought this war for no reason. Iraq had no WMDs, it was not responsible for 9/11. It's a huge mistake commited by our current administration. It's the responsibility of the news media to bring this information out to the public. We have killed almost one million people in Iraq so far. Every Christian out there, think for yourself, is this what the Christ preached us ? God Bless you all

His first call should be to Bill Clinton – Bill was able to get away with perjury and didn't serve a day in prison....and there are people who will support the Clintons to the end....the Mayor needs to listen to Bill....there are even those who are talking about putting up another one....omg...

Man you are a disgrace to your family.Leave that job because you have ruin your life and your young children. Think about your family and move on before you are with the one you cheated with. Your wife is a strong women, because if it was me, you would be outside begging for food and shelter. No women should be treated like this. When your pants over rule your mind, you get what you deserve. No love here. I hope your family can move on and beyond all this mess.

    Kurtis:

This is hardly bout Kilpatrick's sex life: it is far more the case of a notoriously corrupt (and completely unqualified) politico who has used his office for personal profit since he was sworn in. Kilpatrick has treated the entire city of Detroit as a personal kingdom and the citizens of Detroit as serfs who exist to pay tribute. This time, however, he has been charged with a criminal felony, and I personally hope he is run out of the city, and takes his mother with him...

Yeah, right. Another corrupt official. We ask these individuals to run our cities and country but we also need to ask that they be role models for our children.

It's funny how everyone is attacking Kilpatrick but yet these same people don't look at the Spitzer situation through the same lense. I don't support mayor Kilpatrick but I do know for a fact that prostitution is illegal in this country yet we don't hear about criminal charges in the Spitzer case. Infact the actual prostitute involved is becoming a star with a bright future. In an equal society you same people would be calling for every wh*re and john in the Spitzer case to be prosecuted but that will never happen. Then you wonder why so many feel there are two Americas.

    "typical black dem guy".
No wonder Detroit is such a mess.
How many Americans murdered in this country over the last 5 years?
Obama is a Sharpton, Jackson, Wright clone. just wearing a different mask.
Hillary's a big time liar. Ireland, Bosnia, and on and on and on.
This was the reason she put up with Bills antics over 40 years. Her master plan. He owes her big time.

This is a political witchunt. The same thing that happened to Spitzer. Spitzer was about to blow the whistle on sub-prime mortgages. The machine took him down. Kwame was probably doing something similar. I guess he has to go to. Bush and Cheney gets away with treason and the democrats get thrown under the bus for sex. America really has its priorities in order.

You never know – it could be that Kilpatrick brought a youthFULL hormonal rush to the mayoral office.

And with lot's of Viagra and Cialis, and some hip-up beats out there these days you never know....

We've heard "I never had sexual intercourse with that woman"- speeches before which turned out to be lies. You never know,,,covers are being snatched off politicians these days. Being a politician is fast becoming one of the most dangerous jobs because a lot happen in 24 hours – you never know, but now you know Kilpatrick is still in "denying" mode for his "honor." What an "honorable" mayor.
