Blitzer: Clinton resurrects the Wright controversy

The economy once again may be the dominant campaign theme.

The economy once again may be the dominant campaign theme.

(CNN) - After staying out of the Barack Obama controversy over his former pastor, Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Hillary Clinton has now weighed in big time. She was asked about the flap when she met with the editorial board of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review today. “He would not have been my pastor,” she replied. “You know, you don’t choose your family, but you choose what church you want to attend.”

A few moments ago, at a news conference, she essentially said the same thing before the microphones and cameras. And as she did earlier in the day, she noted that she had spoken out last year against Don Imus for his racially-charged comments about the Rutgers University women’s basketball team. “I gave a speech at Rutgers University saying that hate speech was unacceptable in any setting, and I believe that.”

Suddenly, the Rev. Wright uproar has returned to the forefront. The other flap of the day – her embarrassing and erroneous description of her 1996 visit to Bosnia – has been pushed a bit aside. She acknowledges that she made a mistake in describing the scene of her arrival at the Tuzla airbase.

All of this must be seen within the context of this incredibly close race for the Democratic presidential nomination. With four weeks to go to the Pennsylvania primary and the 10 other contests that will follow, every utterance by the two candidates is critical. The scrutiny all around will be intense because the stakes are enormous.

My question is Why does the media play into Hillary's hands by allowing her to constantly change the focus onto Obama! Enough of Wright ! Hillary has plenty of her own demons. Let's hear more about them or even better let's campaign positively!

First you praise him for the speech and the way he addressed the Wright issue then you turn around with the knife. Cybal .. I mean Hillary, I just don't get you. We never know who's going to show up. I guess we don't know who's going to answer that phone either. But I do know who I want to answer the phone....OBAMA!!!

Obama/Richards!!!!.......and Hillary if I have too. You've pissed me off, but I'll vote for you if you get the nod.

Seems like the pot calling the kettle black, no pun intended. I am so wearied with the Clintons. Imagine, America, being from Arkansas how truly sick of them you would be.

resurrects ? This issue will never be dead ,it will dwell because it is so disgraceful and unacceptable and will hunt Obama as long as he holds a role in politics.

I am convinced Hillary and her team will say and do anything in order to be elected. If it takes "burning the house down", I am convinced she would do it. Do whatever is necessary to bring Obama down, then deal with and issues in the general election.

At keast she didn't lie the first when asked this question...unlike Obama who went onto every newcast and said he never knew of the contraversial statements.

Go away Hillary. She will stop at nothing to guarantee that if she does not win the nomination, then Obama will not win the election. It is all or nothing with her.

Embellished facts on her sniper fire filled trip to Bosnia are part of her game. Wolf Blitzer will see to it that everyone will forget this misspoke and keep alive the Rev. Wright stuff.

Did anyone remember what Obama said? We can dwell on these side issues of the campaign but the issues that concern us all (black, brown, white) will not go away. The media should be talking about the real issues instead of constantly stirring the pot. Perhaps, Wolf, if you had asked the hard questions 5.5 years ago, we would not be in Iraq today. Ask the hard questions and quit playing around.

Hillary is showing how much resemblance she has to President Bush! Instead of facing her own issues like the lies she's told about her visit to Bosnia, she'd rather turn the attention to Osama and try to resurrect the Rev. Wright media play. Well for the record Hilary’s issue is something she brought upon herself. Those are LIES not "misspoken words" that she spoke from her mouth out of desperation for acceptance and popularity. Osama was forced to answer and suffer for another man's thoughts and words. Hillary is just showing how much of a typical politician she really is. USA is tired of politicians we want CHANGE!

You can say all the bad things you want about the Clinton's, and most will be true. But there is nothing the Clinton's have ever done to create the Racial Divide that Obama has.

Obama has hurt this country and he will never be elected!

A friend serving in Iraq wrote that he and many of the men he is serving with were disgusted by Senator Clinton's Willie Horton description of her visit to Bosnia. They face real danger every single day and see their brothers and sisters fall to sniper fire all too often. A war she authorized. Own up to it, Senator Clinton. Obama owned up to Rev. Wright in a noble and honest way that lifted us all up.. You have never taken responsibility or ever admitted you were wrong. Not on Iraq. Not on this. It's easy: I was wrong. I made a mistake. I'm sorry. Pride is the most common and tragic flaw.

It makes me wonder if we are going to see a Mccain/Hillary ticket soon. They appear to be defending each other and Hillary is bashing Obama for him. I guess she figures, if the Republicans won't bash him then I will. Way to hand it over to the Republicans Hillary. Where were those strong morals when you allowed your husband to cheat or when you lied about the snipper fire. ... typical Washington scum.

This only works if the media falls for it and starts asking her about Rev Wright instead of her misstatements...and their are more than just Bosnia

I hope the rest of America is beginning to see the true colors of the Clintons. Snakes have split tounges.....hillary is pure venom....with a crown. The United states will turn into a Monarchy if Hilary Clinton is elected.
    King Bill and Queen Hillary.

Why did Hillary stay with Bill after he cheated and lied to her. Did she have a choice? its simple she wanted to run for president and use all Bill's trips as her experience on foreign policy. Very calculating. Now she is resurrecting the Wright's story-Americans have better things to listen to.

We do not want the issue to go away, why, because we are not electing Rev Wright,...but what we're most concerned about is putting back into the white house, someone who has litterally desecrated it...the notion that America cannot choose who to put in the house, is absub. Let God be the judge of Rev Wright, not politicians, though we all know we do not agree with him, as much as we hate Bill...he should not even be brought up on the campaign trails...shame on you !!

Obama supporters are delusional. The Wright controversy is not going to go away for Obama even if Sen. Clinton NEVER mentions it. If he gets the nomination, the Republicans will spank him like a bad child. You haven't seen anything yet and I for one can't wait. Obama is a disgrace with his own fair share of lying – lying that far outweighs a simply stretch of the truth. I can't WAIT to see him go down hard.

Lets not forger that Mr. Wright (I refuse to call a man like that rev.) has been teaching Black Liberation Theoligy for many years and Obama has been listening to that. So I don't trust him, I don't trust Hillary either but at least she's upfront about her bs. Unlike Obama who would have never said anything about Mr. Wright's comments if we didn't call him out on it.

    Conniving, calculating and cold.

As a woman, I find Hillary Clinton to be one of the most negative things to happen to women as a gender in my 59-year lifetime! Mrs. Clinton has no moral center that can be detected, she is clearly unstable emotionally and has NO self-respect (with the concommittant personality trait of no respect for others) or she would have dumped that lying sob of a husband 25 years ago.

But her real lust has always been for power, not for people (individually or collectively – they're just a means to an end for HRC)..

    Obama lied about Rezko.

    Obama lied about Wright.

Obama lied about immigration bill that he said he worked on when he was absent from it.

Obama lied when he said everyone was playing the race card when he was the one injected it into the race in the first place with Michelle's line "Black america will wake up."
