Blitzer: Clinton resurrects the Wright controversy

The economy once again may be the dominant campaign theme.
The economy once again may be the dominant campaign theme.

(CNN) – After staying out of the Barack Obama controversy over his former pastor, Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Hillary Clinton has now weighed in big time. She was asked about the flap when she met with the editorial board of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review today. “He would not have been my pastor,” she replied. “You know, you don’t choose your family, but you choose what church you want to attend.”

A few moments ago, at a news conference, she essentially said the same thing before the microphones and cameras. And as she did earlier in the day, she noted that she had spoken out last year against Don Imus for his racially-charged comments about the Rutgers University women’s basketball team. “I gave a speech at Rutgers University saying that hate speech was unacceptable in any setting, and I believe that.”

Suddenly, the Rev. Wright uproar has returned to the forefront. The other flap of the day – her embarrassing and erroneous description of her 1996 visit to Bosnia – has been pushed a bit aside. She acknowledges that she made a mistake in describing the scene of her arrival at the Tuzla airbase.

All of this must be seen within the context of this incredibly close race for the Democratic presidential nomination. With four weeks to go to the Pennsylvania primary and the 10 other contests that will follow, every utterance by the two candidates is critical. The scrutiny all around will be intense because the stakes are enormous.

A bit desparate isn't she? Well tactics the same ole politcal spin. Throw the same ole bait out to a hungy fishing pool and wait for the nibble. America seems hungy for change but when change presents itself will America digest the change or reject it? Like the starving fish pool most American will nibble on that same ole same ole even though there are a few who will go reject it and swim to better feeding waters. Hillary's betting on the former rather than the latter. She wants America to be starving for change to point of seeing a mirage and then offer them the illusion of a fresh drink of water but still come up dry. God help America...

Hillary is deliberately raising the subject of Rev. Wright again, just so that she can try to get off the subject of her outright lies about Bosnia. Isn't it strange how quickly the media jumped into this fray again.

Why did noone jump all over Sen. Mccain's supporter for calling the Catholic church a w**** among many other things. Did the media address this disgusting performance like they are continually doing with Rev. Wright?

Don't be surprised if the person who supposedly asked Sen. Clinton about Rev.Wright was planted!

I guess the bond she has with her church, her pastor, her congregation isn't strong. Sometimes people say things at church that you don't agree with, and sometimes it's the leader(s) themselves, but church, to some, is like family; you don't leave it over a disagreement, especially if it connects you with a higher power.

Anyway, let's hear about her involvement with "The Family."

The whole thing about Rev. Wright will remain on the American peoples minds through out this campaign. Obama choose his pastor, he choose his friend and financially supported Rezko. You are judge by the company you keep. Obama's quick to judge what ever Hillary has done or will do. Hillary has a great solution for the economy issues, now watch how fast Obama reacts with the same or close to plan she has. The history of the Obama solutions, take from other because you just can do it by yourself. Just like in the Illinois legislation, 2002 other bills where give to you, so you would get the credit , to help your rise to the US senate.

She lied outright, and has proven herself to be extremely disingenuous. I can't believe anyone that isn't supporting her simply because she's a women still backs her.

We can pick our Pastors, granted. But we can also pick our Presidential candidate. And the popular will clearly indicates that Hillary Clinton is not the popular favourite. By that token she should drop out and save whatever integrity the Democratic Party will have after her attempts to tear it down.

Please, can we stop all this in-fighting? I'm an obama supporter but if hillary gets the nomination i absolutely WILL VOTE FOR HER. There are things in this world that are happening that are bigger than these candidates and our pride. We must unite against the second coming of bush. neither of our candidates are perfect, but they are both great. If we dont stop bickering about all these pointless nuances we're going to lose in november. We are progressives and we need to start acting like it. I'm begging you guys, STOP FIGHTING AND START UNITING!… or we will lose.

The reporter asked Hillary a question, she answered it, IF she didn't answer it she would have been condemn for that! People make up your minds! You get mad if Hillary answers and mad if she doesn't. The whole democratic party is a mess!

Hillary has joined the group of liars that took us to war and remenber she did voted for the war, now she has decided to lie to the American people herself.
Let the media handle this issue the same way they handled the Obama pastor's controversy instead of pushung it to the side.
    God does not like ugly

It was obvious that Sen. Clinton had already prepared her speech to let loose today when she responded to the question on Sen. Obama's minister. It was also obvious that this was a strategic move to take the attention off of her lie as she described her trip to Bosnia. I cannot believe how she was afforded the opportunity to basically dismiss the press with her aloof manner in an almost scolding way as she put them in their place.

Bravo Hillary! It is time for the democrats to wake up to the realization that Obama is unelectable, is a weak national candidate, and that his campaign is fluf and media hype.

HIllary is the strong, tenacious, vetted national candidate that will defeat McCain! Obama is not.

Why now do you think she wants to comment? Or do we have to ask? She is trying to bury her "lie" on Bosnia and CNN you will fall for it. Since you gave so much attention (2 weeks) to the Wright story and interviewed everybody under the sun. Can you at least give one day of coverage to discovering to her lie and maybe if you dig a little, you just might find a few more "misspoken" words. Words do count Hillary...your words. I would like to reinterate what David Gergan said last week. It would be refreshing to have her speak to us like an adult instead of a child. At least Obama talk to us on adult level last week in his speech. I use to be a Clinton supporter but she is just too over the top with her drama to with this election. She is good at this but GOD see all and she will have to answer for behavior.

if all you have on him is this Rev. Wright stuff he must be doing pretty good. All you are doing is judging him on someone elses actions.

Now this is old news. Release your taxes and lets hear about more of your experience in the whtie house. Maybe Monica should run she spent as much time as you did in the white house.

and you are right, you cant choose your family but you can choose your husband. She stayed with him after he humiliated her on national TV and I sure she doesnt share his views on infidelity.

I saw her giving this speech and she decided to finally comment… She has been asked this question time and time again… I knew that the Obama supporters would try and spin this and CNN will talk about it all night tonight!!!

She answered a DIRECT QUESTION… She did not attack Obama she is trying to move away from this issue…

This is getting out of control… let it go media people… Fox talked about this for two hours the other morning... CNN went after Carville last night… this has to stop!!!

I agree with Cafferty... Shame on the media!!!

Hillary's husband has attended Pastor Wright's church before. Do some research Wolf. If he was that bad, why was Bill at his church? Hmmmm....
