CHARLOTTE AMALIE, U.S. Virgin Islands (CNN) - For three days, Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama is enjoying some private down time on the island of St. Thomas, a source close to the U.S. territory's Government House in the capital of Charlotte Amalie confirmed Monday.

The source also confirmed that Gov. John deJongh "unofficially" met with the Illinois senator and his family upon their arrival at St. Thomas' Cyril E. King Airport Sunday morning.

Obama campaign officials had been vague about the Obama family trip.

The senator will resume campaigning on Wednesday in North Carolina.

You people are crazy. The guy goes on vacation and it's a conspiracy. If you're not going to vote for Obama, just leave at that and stop finding a reason to make ignorant comments on this board. I feel dumber than I was five minutes ago after reading some of these comments.

I wonder if he brought Wrigth with him.

Obama supporters > I hope you like where your campaign dollars are going! Looks like vacations.

McCain goes abroad, Hillary stays at home in NY state and Obama goes to paradise. Something is wrong with this picture.

Wake up US, Obama is a fade, like the hula hoop.

Of course he is vacationing there.
Guam, the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico have been given more of a say in who our nominee will be than the voters of Michigan and Florida.

People wake up and see that this is a rigged 3rd world election. The votes are not being counted. The voices of the people are not being heard. the super delegates won't be allowed to do their job- the reason they were created for to begin with.

You can force Obama on us as the nominee, but we WILL NOT vote for him in the general election. So install him as the un-elected nominee at your own peril .

I'm sure it was his own money... However, why wasn't he in a church somewhere, preaching his message?... interesting. P.S.... my family's from the Predominately black Virgin Islands, and they are all backing their own!

Why indeed the mean comments? Who are you people? The hate and meanness have to STOP.

Hope the Obamas are getting some much needed rest, especially after the last two weeks of attacks.

My prayers continue for all involved (candidates & volunteers) in this primary election season! I pray for the divine will of God to cover all of America and guide the hearts and minds of those who will vote both in the primaries and November election. We need a true & honest leader who will bring peace within and outside of America for all Americans. We have seen "blood shed" all over regardless to whom is hurt. Winning at all costs seems to be the top agenda...Certainly, we have all seen the accusations, charges and negativity go to an all time low. It is time for American to get serious about what is really happening in this country while inspiring a new generation of potential leaders. We need a leader who will trust America, allow them to wrestle with difficult issues while possessing the unique ability to speak to the needs and aspirations of all Americans.
    May God's Will Be Done!!

Can't a man go on vacation over Easter with his family?

Barack has never been tied to any scandal, never indicted, never accused of a government cover up, never used a scortched earth tactic to get elected, unlike the other Democratic candidate who came under investigation as First Lady. How do you come under investigation as First Lady?

Be honest with yourselves Clinton Cool Aid drinkers, you don't like her. Just stop hating on the man that can heal this nation.

A politician who likes to spend time with his wife and children. A rare breed indeed. Yet another quality I admire in Obama.

Obama's campaign has entered into a dangerous place recently. The race issue has blown up. Obama's camp has launched a full negative attack against Sen. Clinton's character, integrity and honesty. They have even stooped to pulling the Blue dress card, which is a crash personal attack on Hillary's personal life.
These attacks seem to be launched with or without Obama's full approval, and also seem to be getting out of control. I don't just mean out of bounds, I mean their whole campaign is being twisted on its head as they engage in nasty and bitter divisive politics as they attempt to sell the Bush like message, "I am a uniter not a divider. " They have moved away from staple campaign messages of hope and of a different kind of politics. Maybe this trip will help clear Barrack and Michelle's heads.
