The University of Chicago said Friday Obama was considered a professor at the school.

(CNN) – The University of Chicago said Friday Barack Obama accurately described himself as a onetime law professor at the school, despite the fact his formal title was "Senior Lecturer."

The university's statement comes after the Clinton campaign recently suggested on several occasions that the Illinois senator was embellishing his role at the school by calling himself a professor.

The campaign also sent out a press release quoting a 2004 Chicago Sun-Times column that stated of Obama's professor claim: "Several direct-mail pieces issued for Obama's primary campaign said he was a law professor at the University of Chicago. He is not. He is a senior lecturer (now on leave) at the school. In academia, there is a vast difference between the two titles. Details matter."

But in a statement, the university said its senior lecturers are considered professors.

"From 1992 until his election to the U.S. Senate in 2004, Barack Obama served as a professor in the Law School," the statement said.

"He was a Lecturer from 1992 to 1996. He was a Senior Lecturer from 1996 to 2004, during which time he taught three courses per year. Senior Lecturers are considered to be members of the Law School faculty and are regarded as professors, although not full-time or tenure-track," it also said.

This woman is such a loser. She is really preparing for 2012. She wants Obama to lose this year, so she can stage a comeback in 4 years.

This leaves no doubt. Clinton has turned over her campaign to third-graders. Pretty soon she'll start accusing him of having coodies and making fun of his looks.

Thomas, LA   March 28th, 2008 12:41 pm ET

How sad for the country that Hilliary Clinton has nothing positive about herself to run on that she can only try and fail to smear Obama. It really makes one realize what a total lack of substance there is to Hilliary's character and person. I truly don't think Hilliary is fit to hold any office after showing us her true colors. I feel very sad for and hope she will do the right thing now for the country and embrace Obama as the Democratic nominee. She should take some time to reflect on herself and try to find her humanity that she apparently sold away years ago.

The Clinton campaign is something and tries so hard to play dirty politics. It's really great that the University of Chicago stepped up immediately to say what Obama's role/title was at the Law School. The Clinton campaign looks so silly and really doesn't get it yet. The people of this country would like to have Obama as President and not Clinton!

Hillary, we understand that you judge everybody by your measures and as a result, expect everybody to embellish his resume with exaggeration or blunt lies like you do (e.g. sniper fire in bosnia, peace in ireland etc.). But, I would like to remind you that not everybody can ignore his conscience, and ethical and moral values.

Please give up these silly and futile attempts to pull down Obama's popularity, because it's not gonna go down!

Jordan - San Marcos TX   March 28th, 2008 12:44 pm ET

Thank you. For the love of God this is getting ridiculous. Anything to distract people from the fact that Hillary is lying though her teeth to try to fill out those "35 years of experience"…all they can do is try to on Obama is twist the semantics of anyone within four degrees of seperation from him and it's not working. Maybe people should just consider that perhaps he really is who he says he is. There has been nothing tangible or credible to suggest otherwise. Hillary needs to drop out, unless she really believes John McCain and a continuation of the Bush doctrine of costly blundered invasions and disasterious fiscal policy would be better for the country than an Obama presidency. In that case she's accomplishing her goal. Still, nothing would kill the Dems chances in November more at this point than having the party elite overturn popularly elected delegates and the popular vote and nominate Hillary Clinton.

Mike Jones   March 28th, 2008 12:44 pm ET

The first time I heard Sen. Obama speak was during my graduate school orientation at the University of Chicago in 2002. As it was one of those moments I'll never forget, I can attest that he was introduced to us as a professor in the law department, as well as an Illinois state senator.

David   March 28th, 2008 12:44 pm ET

Maybe the Clinton campaign should have done their homework before opening their big mouths again, ie; Bosnia, Healthcare, Nafta, Ireland..etc..etc…etc. The University even said Obama was a Professor. Which means:

Obama: 100
Hillary - 5

They cant seem to get anything right!

Just drop out Hillary. You're a liar and the people running your campaign obviously have a lack of attention to detail!

Mike   March 28th, 2008 12:45 pm ET

Obama is the most honest presidential candidate we have had in decades. I suggest people do their research before making claims that he is a huge liar. I can't wait for this country to get back on track with his leadership and honesty. Please, before making judgments, take some time to read his books and develop your own opinion instead of the one fed to you by news corporations.

FYI, news agencies are large corporations and will only see benefit from a republican president. They are blowing the flames on this democratic battle. Take what you read with a grain of salt.

Eyes Wide Open   March 28th, 2008 12:45 pm ET

Has the Clinton campaign really gotten that desperate? If after their extensive search to uncover dirt on Obama that's the best they can do, I think they'd have been better off saying nothing at all, because the absence of any real dirt only makes him look like an even bigger Boy Scout.

Give it up, Hillary. It's over.

I guess there are no "bullets" or gunfire missing any body here; so, Obama needs no secret service to duck this bullet coiming at him! The point here is simple: can we validate what the candidate him/her-self says, not what someone else (Pastor Judas) says on behalf of the candidates?

I had always thought of this nation as one that puts a premium on "individual responsiblity." So, are we saying that all parents who spend years raising "adolescents and young adults" (ages 18 and older) with severe societal problems should abandon them because they "kick against the rules of society?" Or, that the parents of serial killers should take "full responsibility" for the acts of their children? How screwed up our thinking has become truly amazes me!!!

This, my friends, is the difference between a liar and a truthful person. There are always evidences to backup the truth, but never for those lies by HRC.
The question is, "Who would you trust with your lives, A liar like GW Bush or Truthful person like Obama?

It even turns out that this MAN was deeply loved by the University that they offered him tenure track several times but he refused. He wants to serve us, the populace. How refreshing this is.

Clinton campaign should probably do a little research before accusing someone of embellishing anything (cough *Bosnia* cough). This is the leadership we are looking for in America? Finger-pointers? Al Gore should be the compromised candidate. Give Obama the VP and Hillary the foreign affairsc secretary position. I think that makes everyone happy.

Even if Obama wins the nomination, the Hillary or Bill Clinton followers are LUKEWARM in voting for him. Republicans will chew him alive during the general election campaign. And if he wins the Presidency, his administration will be riddled with controversies among black and white americans, among conservative republicans as well as rebellious democrats. He will only be embraced by youth and blacks and eventually will junk once he fails to restore faith in America and its economy. Many silent majority from big states who are not black or white are completely unhappy with his sudden surge and ambitious posture without any accomplishment in the Senate except for giving good speeches. A VP position is good enough for the greenhorn.

The Clintons saying "details matter" is a little like David Duke calling someone a racist. But more seriously, maybe they should have done a little more fact checking before making fools out of themselves–yet again. Then again, since Hillary couldn't be bothered to read the entire report on something as important as the Iraq war, how could we expect her or her campaign to be expected to expend energy checking what this university considered a professor.

It hard for the Clinton's to be honest, truthful, and do what best for America they are selfish.

I truly understand that their in debt and owe a lot of big wigs but simply thing they need to take on a second job to pay them back. But, not at the expense of the American people.

Can the New Media just really investgate the Clinton's Business oversea. with Dubai Port World and settle the romur that Bill Clinton got paid….. And that how Hillary loan herself the $ 5 Million dollars?

It must be noted that numerous officials at the University of Chicago, including the President and others who hold high offices, have contributed maximum donations to the Obama campaign. They should come to his aid! Take from it what you will but this important fact should be reported on with this story although it is not surprising CNN, excuse me it is now ONN (Obama News Network, positive Obama spin 24/7), leaves out this important detail.

George, Dallas, TX   March 28th, 2008 12:57 pm ET

In OBAMA we TRUST!

Jan   March 28th, 2008 12:58 pm ET

Great News !

Go Obama 08 !

Sergio from Seattle   March 28th, 2008 12:58 pm ET

whether he was a professor or not it does not matter. What matters is Barack is a very smart man, who happens to have a Ph.D. in law, this something Senator Clinton cannot say about herself. I just can't think of why people think that Obama has no experience when he not only has a Ph.D. and has thought in the University of Chicago, he has been a civil right lawyer and has been a legislator longer than Senator Clinton, don't forget that not only has he served in the US Senate but also in the Illinois Senate. So the fact that he was a senior lecturer should be viewed as a plus not as a negative which is how Senator Clinton wants us to see it as.

John   March 28th, 2008 12:58 pm ET

As a Brit and an external but fascinated observer to this Democratic contest I am constantly amazed at the lengths both camps (but mainly Clinton) are going to try to discredit their opponent - the damage that this can cause to the Democratic cause in the eyes of the voting public leading up to the Presidential Election will be devestating and could kill their campaign both from a financial and a popular vote perspective - McCain must be loving this especially as I see that he has just laucnhed his first presidential campaign advert - he has no diversions and can concentrate on taking the country with him.

From an international perspective I would love to see Obama come home as I think he will bring a totally new perception of US politics to the rest of the world.

Ross in MD   March 28th, 2008 12:58 pm ET

Wow, the Clinton camp lying again. What a surprise…

charlotte   March 28th, 2008 12:58 pm ET

Embellishment at the least.

Ben Caswell   March 28th, 2008 12:58 pm ET

Hillary's campaign is sad. Please urge her to give it up. She is making herself look very, very, very bad.

Carol   March 28th, 2008 12:59 pm ET

The lying resume fudger can't even lie about her opponent's resume without get caught. She's so pathetic. I can't understand how anyone an be so dumb as to want her as their president.

clare   March 28th, 2008 12:59 pm ET

do the clintons see how ridiculous they are beginning to look ? they are like the bully in the school yard, picking on anyone, making things up, telling tales, crying……anything to get their own way. And i say that in the plural because anyone who thinks they are only getting Hillary is mistaken, the entire disfunctional family will be on the ticket,.

David   March 28th, 2008 12:59 pm ET

Hillary good try but as you see the university says he was a professor and being I work at a university myself, Senior lecturers who teach credited courses are considered to be professors. He did not misspeak like you often do.

Donner

Mike   March 28th, 2008 12:59 pm ET

Give it a rest Hillary! Stop trying to tear this guy down!

I'm sure she was trying to deflect the light away from her bogus military experience while landing under "sniper fire" in Bosnia.

Give me a break. Hillary needs to bow out now.

Rose - Baltimore, MD   March 28th, 2008 12:59 pm ET

There we go ha ha! Clinton thought this was going to beat her Bosnia lies. HE WAS A SENIOR LECTURER ASLO REFERRED TO AS A 'PROFESSOR'. Next!

Niky   March 28th, 2008 12:59 pm ET

One more failed attempt from Clinton campaign to bring down Obama.

Ifeanyi Azubike Houston Texas   March 28th, 2008 12:59 pm ET

Thanks to the university of chicago for going beyond the call of duty to define the term professor to pin heads, who ignore the monumental problems facing the country to chase after unnecessary smear implements. The continued popularity of Barack in spite of the kitchen sink strategy is further evidence that the voters are fed up with politics as usual and have embraced the message of hope and change.

Max   March 28th, 2008 1:00 pm ET

As a TA with a Master's degree, I'm pleased that I can now refer to myself as a Professor!!! Ha ha. Shame on U of C for defending the label as anyone in academia knows there's a gulf between having a doctorate and/or being a tenured track instructor and being adjunct.

Go PSU   March 28th, 2008 1:00 pm ET

The Clinton campaign….what a joke.

Mike Tacoma, wa   March 28th, 2008 1:00 pm ET

Big deal what about him changing his story on his Pastor Wright again? He touts his judgment yet only now says if Wright hadn't retired he would have left the church?? Well that makes me forget about Wright being on Obama's Campaign Staff. And the fact that for at least the last 7 years he has been saying controversial stuff yet you continued to follow him. Any pastor who has said the hurtful things that Wright has from the pulpit should not be allowed to preach. If you can't keep your political leanings out of your Sermons then don't preach.

vjh   March 28th, 2008 1:00 pm ET

Take note HRC, Obama did not 'misspeak'. He doesn't have to exaggerate or lie, he isn't dillusional.

Ryan   March 28th, 2008 1:00 pm ET

Desperation!

Severe Desperation.

It is getting a little sad. Her campaign tries to dig and dig. Then Hillary is caught lying.

I will not vote for her if she gets the nomination.

She should get out.

Lee From Treasure Island Florida   March 28th, 2008 1:01 pm ET

Not under sniper fire…not mis-spoken.

AA   March 28th, 2008 1:01 pm ET

there is a big difference in the 2 titles. Obama has a JD and not a PhD. He should not be called a Professor.

Ben   March 28th, 2008 1:01 pm ET

surely the Clinton campaign would at least give Obama the chance to say that he "misspoke" when he said he was a professor, after all he says literally millions of words a day. no? hypocrisy at its finest.

MCNEIL   March 28th, 2008 1:01 pm ET

HE IS GOOD AT SPEECHES……A LECTURER…………

cathy/texas   March 28th, 2008 1:02 pm ET

The clinton camp makes me want to vomit. At this point, I can't stand the sight or sound of her.

I have come to expect nothing but dirty tricks, dirty politics, race baiting, manipulation of facts and outright lies from those people. Enough.

I agree with the comments made that she is looking to take down Obama and the party in order to try to force herself upon us.

I'd call it blonde ambition, but let's face it - even that's not real.
Why doesn't someone just put her out of our misery once and for all.

Vick   March 28th, 2008 1:02 pm ET

Obama..you are a perfect president…Go for it

Johnson   March 28th, 2008 1:02 pm ET

If these are the dirt that Hillary camp can come up with on Obama, he should already be in the white house.

fairandstraight   March 28th, 2008 1:02 pm ET

Why would a man like this need to embellish accomplishments? Unlike, Sen. Clinton, he does not need to create stories to impress people for votes.

I am very thankful that the school was able to verify his service.

Obama 08!!!!!

aware   March 28th, 2008 1:02 pm ET

Give me a break!

Obama went to two Ivy League schools, spent 20 years in a church with a black liberation ideology, allied himself with JW who not only voiced oral racist rants but put them in the church bulletin and in the church magazine as well. He took his wife and young daughters to this same church.

Obama has a lopsided view of race and of America! :(

He has nothing to teach but a lot to learn!

He is not electable in 08!

Tony in NM   March 28th, 2008 1:02 pm ET

one for Obama, the professor

zero for Clinton, the liar

A   March 28th, 2008 1:02 pm ET

clinton just sucks….she tries to smear and gets served.

Juan from L.A.   March 28th, 2008 1:02 pm ET

Stupid Clinton Campaign!!! Stupid just get out of the race now before you hurt the party more. Thanks for aiding McCain. Then you cry when Obama start digging up the so much dirt your candidate has with her family.

Rosalynd   March 28th, 2008 1:03 pm ET

The Clinton Campaign and Dan Abrahms of MSNBC 'The Verdict' owe Senator Obama an apology for claiming he was fabricating his creditials on this.

Chris, Middletown, CT   March 28th, 2008 1:03 pm ET

Did you ever notice that Clinton supporters really really really want to believe that "all politicians lie"….I think they need to - as the one they support does it daily….(or are they calling that "misspeaking" today?)

Dr. Vincent Petrosino   March 28th, 2008 1:03 pm ET

As an academician myself, I know that statement from the University of Chicago is true as it is true in many other universities across this country. A senior lecturer who teaches three courses is a professor albeit without tenure or on tenure track. He has presence on campus, must hold office hours if necessary and students take his courses per requisite or as electives knowing he is teaching them. So Hillary has misfired again. Senator Obama has not "embellished" as she has lied about her role in Belfast, her sniper-fire in Bosnia and Chelsea jogging around Central Park on 9/11. Nice try but it did not work. As a parent with a daughter who has a post graduate degree from the University of Chicago I can also attest to the excellent reputation and high quality of instruction from the University of Chicago, This institution does not employ anything but high quality professionals.

Jean in Texas   March 28th, 2008 1:04 pm ET

Why are the Clintons digging in further and further for dirt, it seems to be backfiring all the time. If one of my lecturers is qualified to teach, upper level courses I call the Professor. Students always refer to them as professor. It does not matter whether Junior snr etc.

So bring out the issues Clinton, not stupid, silly things like professorship vs snr lecture, that is just a title, the fact is that he taught in the University of Chicago.

Please please please HRC and Barack, Its about time you stick to the issues, the past is gone, lets deal with the now (Economy, immigration, health care, Iraq, Uniting American), the issues are endless.

CNN please post!

It's all politics   March 28th, 2008 1:04 pm ET

Professor Obama…President Obama. Sounds great to me!

Orlando   March 28th, 2008 1:04 pm ET

It's fair to say that the Clintons are grasping at straws here. She lie and go caught.

Marc in DeKalb, IL   March 28th, 2008 1:04 pm ET

Oh, so he didn't embelish? So much for equating Obama's professor with Hillary's single-handed salvation of Ireland and her dodging of sniper fire.

That's gotta hurt!

Linoq   March 28th, 2008 1:04 pm ET

It is ironic but true, the Dems know how to lose, even if everything is for them they find a way to lose…

McCain is a terrible candidate, so many gaffes…. But Bill and Hillary are praising him and denigrading Obama….. How come the DNC allows that? If McCain was praising Hillary and denigrading a fellow Republican (say Huckabee or Romney) he would be in deep trouble. THAT IS WHY REPUBLICANS WIN MR. HOWARD DEAN! They have balls, and it seems you don't. You are afraid of the CLinton's who for their part do not mind in destroying the DNC if the race does not go their way.

People are not stupid and the damage is done. People do not like to vote for whimps, that is why at the end of the day Republicans will win.

Shame on you DNC!

vp   March 28th, 2008 1:04 pm ET

There you go. A good answer to another twist from Clintons

Luke Brown, Charleston SC   March 28th, 2008 1:05 pm ET

The race for the Democratic nomination is over. There is no way Senator Clinton is going to be able to make up the delegate numbers. This bickering by the Clinton campaign is dragging down everyone. The party needs to unite behind Obama

DR. JEWELL   March 28th, 2008 1:05 pm ET

I CANT BELIEVE HIL AND HER PEOPLE WANTING TO GET ALL DETAIL ORIENTED. SHE SHOULD BE DOGGED ABOUT HER BLATANT LIE ABOUT THE SNIPER SHOOTING. SHE DID SAY AFTER ALL THAT SHE CLEARLY REMEMBERS THE EVENT. NOW IT A DIFFERENT STORY.

More egg on the Clinton camp's collective face!

Right on Day1   March 28th, 2008 1:05 pm ET

There is a prevailing feeling now that anything that comes from the Clinton campaign is less that an honest statement or has been spun so many times it could sustain it's own orbit.

jeremy   March 28th, 2008 1:05 pm ET

Hillary might have been ducking sniper fire as she made these alligations.

Micheal   March 28th, 2008 1:05 pm ET

DISCONNECTED FROM REALITY.

Rick   March 28th, 2008 1:06 pm ET

Obama was a professor and Hillary got all her experience as a FISH SLIMER. Who would you rather have running your country, one who educates or one who always smells fishy?

Sallie Mae   March 28th, 2008 1:06 pm ET

Hillary is making me sick with her disgusting snipes! Details do matter–like the one about her being under sniper fire being a bold-faced lie!

go blue   March 28th, 2008 1:07 pm ET

Shows how desperate Hillary Clinton has become…

Just like her comment about his kindergarten "essay." How could a kindergarten student write an essay?

Now she wants to fight on till the bitter end at the convention in August- three months after the last primary!

Yetty   March 28th, 2008 1:07 pm ET

Take that "Snarky Clinton Campaign" !

Ed   March 28th, 2008 1:08 pm ET

When Barack puts his nose up like this picture. Is that his white side or his black side?

RuthieM   March 28th, 2008 1:08 pm ET

So THERE Clinton campaign, take that to your stocking and stuff it!!! Go Obama!!!

dave   March 28th, 2008 1:08 pm ET

. The poster is misleeding. Senior Lecturers are considered to be members of the Law School faculty and are regarded as professors

Karma S.   March 28th, 2008 1:08 pm ET

Wow.. Slam Dunk..This is so silly for them to bring about statements without validating them first…I am glad the Law School came forth to clear up this mess. Hill, because you have been called out on your lies, don't go trying to dig up things you "THINK" may be untrue. So not necessary! Like Mr. Dean said, at this point we need to focus on gas prices, the economy and healthcare..Not silly details such as this. Too much wasted energy.

JC   March 28th, 2008 1:09 pm ET

Ha! That's what Hillary gets. Who looks like the fool now Hillary?

Not everyone is such a liar as Hillary.

norisha   March 28th, 2008 1:09 pm ET

The Clinton camp must feel pretty silly….oh I'm sorry, I forgot it was silly season!!! Someone didn't research all the details! Nice try though! Hillary is the only LIAR!!!!!!

blair   March 28th, 2008 1:09 pm ET

Being considered a professor does not make one a professor.

Liyah   March 28th, 2008 1:09 pm ET

Booyaka……In your faces….hahaha…what because he is black he cant possibly have been a professor!!!!!!

amanda   March 28th, 2008 1:09 pm ET

What has this got to do with anything except the Clinton camp is making much ado about nothing? ls this their way of excusing Hillary for lying about her tea trip to Bosnia or lreland? Obama is a fine American and an extra-ordinary leader that we need at this time.

agree   March 28th, 2008 1:09 pm ET

Get off his nutz! What is important is our country. Our children, neighborhoods, economy, education and sharing the wealth that The Bush family and republicans are storing up for the winter!!!!!!! called oil.

Stop bumping heads with each other and fight the real liars, crooks, and arrogant republicans.

Look up the word united then add that to our numbers and LET'S FIGHT FOR THE WHITE HOUSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Vivian Losser   March 28th, 2008 1:09 pm ET

Obama wants to be know for his judgment, although that caption has disappeared from the podium of his recent speeches. The "obama-girl" launched him to rock-star status, which he probably enjoys but does that qualify her as a poltical pundit telling Hillary to withdraw? Where is his judgment ? The fires flame. The longer this campaign goes the more he will be burned.

ray   March 28th, 2008 1:09 pm ET

must have taught fiction

Dena   March 28th, 2008 1:10 pm ET

DC   March 28th, 2008 1:10 pm ET

Looks like the Clinton Campaign needs to go back to school.

clinton now obama   March 28th, 2008 1:10 pm ET

NOW THE TRUTH IS KNOW, WHAT HAVE THE CLINTON'S TO SAY NOW.

OBAMA "08

if so   March 28th, 2008 1:13 pm ET

If so… why doesn't he support the constitutional right to vote and have your vote be counted?

If so, why is he being so UN American?

HankInTexas   March 28th, 2008 1:15 pm ET

Yet more non-news.

D   March 28th, 2008 1:15 pm ET

So he was the "professor?"

So what???

Even our Hillary Clinton could have become Professor

She JUST chose to be the fighter and go to Bosnia and fight with snipers…

Hillary for Receptionist (to pick up that 3 Am call)

Stephanie, PA   March 28th, 2008 1:15 pm ET

Wow…can you say "egg on their faces"? Seems like it's still silly season. The Clinton camp really needs to focus on the issues at hand and stop spending so much valuable staff time looking up useless and factually wrong information in their ongoing attempt to tarnish the charactor of Sen. Obama.

The Lady   March 28th, 2008 1:15 pm ET

Ok. Is she serious? The kitchen sink strategy is severely flawed if this is the hardest they can come at him.

Chicago Graduate   March 28th, 2008 1:16 pm ET

Speaking as someone at UC while Obama was teaching there. Yes, he was a professor.

Also speaking as someone who lived in Chicago, the Sun Time is/was/always has been full of it.

Cindy   March 28th, 2008 1:16 pm ET

Whatever… It's not like he fancied himself running under bullets or anything like that…

Look, Barack is not the embellishing candidate, Hillary is. Don't even try to go there…

James McBride   March 28th, 2008 1:16 pm ET

Senator Clinton is really stretching to find flaws with her opponent. Perhaps she would like to mention a small detail of her own - that she only moved to Arkansas to marry Bill after she failed the bar exam in Washington D.C.

matt   March 28th, 2008 1:16 pm ET

The Clintons are a complete joke now.

Anonymous   March 28th, 2008 1:16 pm ET

This is just semantics. Ask the students if he was their instructor, lecturer, or professor. Ninety five percent are going to say professor. The nomenclature has to do more with salary ranges and tenure requirements.

Dave, Milwaukee WI   March 28th, 2008 1:16 pm ET

I can't wait for all the Clinton nut jobs to compare this to Hillary's blatent LIES about her role in Bosnia and Northern Ireland. There's a HUGE difference.

Mike   March 28th, 2008 1:17 pm ET

Of course he was a law professor. The Clinton campaign is grasping at straws, try to inflict damage to Obama wherever and however they can, regardless of what the truth is. The only thing they are accomplishing is further elevating Hillary's "negatives" rating. I know that they have done that for me.

Slept in Church for 20 years   March 28th, 2008 1:17 pm ET

Like those "politics" aren't tainted? Support the hometown boy. Way to go UoC. Your statement carries as much weight with the educated voters as saying what he had for breakfast.

He lied again. He is NOT a professor.

Rom,NY   March 28th, 2008 1:17 pm ET

That's funny !!!
The Clinton campaign does strongly think that to succeed in politics all candidates should lie so easily as Hillary does.
All politicians lie as every other person does in general but some of them lie too much that most of people don't trust them anymore, that's unfortunately what happens with Hillary

Sorry, Hillary might have other qualities that Obama doesn't have but he's definitely more trustworthy, that's undeniable !!!
Try something else !!!

By the way, we're still waiting for your earmarks and your latest tax return, your opponent already released both of them, you did not. People do think you're hiding something so don't blame them if they don't trust you, that's the fact!!

Apple Pie   March 28th, 2008 1:18 pm ET

I have been a senior lecturer at a state university. The difference between senior lecturer and professor is like the difference between major and colonel in the Army. They are both officers, they both command troops, but a major is obviously not a general.

Jonah   March 28th, 2008 1:18 pm ET

The Clinton campaign is really grasping for something. It's not like he lied about braving sniper fire, or being a prominent player in brokering peace deals…

Jeff   March 28th, 2008 1:18 pm ET

Nice try Hillary. You can't remember if you were under "heavy sniper fire" when traveling to Bosnia so you try to go after Obama to show that he's misleading (just like you!). Unfortunatly, you manged to get this wrong as well. I loved your husband as president but really wish you would just go away.

Kitty   March 28th, 2008 1:19 pm ET

Let's see…

1) "I taught law at a major university. I am a professor, albeit not on tenure-track."
OR
2) "I dodged a hailstorm of bullets and ran screeching, head-down, to shelter as my young daughter ran behind — in a locale too dangerous even for the President of the United States!"

…I think Ill take the law professor.

AJ   March 28th, 2008 1:19 pm ET

So the school considers them "professors" does it? The sitting Lecturers should take that statement to court and demand tenure track. The Universtiy of Chicago would say anything to help Obama. What, like it wouldnt be good press to be able to say that a President was a "Professor" there. Please folks, use some common sense. A professor is a professor a lecturer a lecturer. Thus the seperate titles.

Matt   March 28th, 2008 1:51 pm ET

This is why McCain needs to win. Democrats lie.

Texas4Obama   March 28th, 2008 1:52 pm ET

Today, the University of Chicago released the following statement:

"The Law School has received many media requests about Barack Obama, especially about his status as "Senior Lecturer." From 1992 until his election to the U.S. Senate in 2004, Barack Obama served as a professor in the Law School. He was a Lecturer from 1992 to 1996. He was a Senior Lecturer from 1996 to 2004, during which time he taught three courses per year. Senior Lecturers are considered to be members of the Law School faculty and are regarded as professors, although not full-time or tenure-track. The title of Senior Lecturer is distinct from the title of Lecturer, which signifies adjunct status. Like Obama, each of the Law School's Senior Lecturers have high-demand careers in politics or public service, which prevent full-time teaching. Several times during his 12 years as a professor in the Law School, Obama was invited to join the faculty in a full-time tenure-track position, but he declined."

corin   March 28th, 2008 1:52 pm ET

This is so silly! He was a professor/lecturer ok! I would prefer that than i ran from sniper fire!

Dem   March 28th, 2008 1:54 pm ET

OBAMA IS PADDING HIS RESUME?

Hmmmm. What else is he doing?

George, Los Angeles   March 28th, 2008 2:07 pm ET
