Clinton: Obama campaign wants to end race

Chelsea Clinton has taken a high-profile role in her mother’s presidential campaign.

Chelsea Clinton has taken a high-profile role in her mother’s presidential campaign.

PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania (CNN) - As Sen. Hillary Clinton's underdog campaign soldiers on through Pennsylvania, Indiana and North Carolina, she has begun casting herself as a champion of democracy.

"There are some folks saying we ought to stop these elections," she said in Indianapolis, Indiana, on March 29 as the audience booed the notion. "I don't think we believe that in America," she said. "The more people that have a chance to vote, the better it is for our democracy."

As Pennsylvania's primary nears, Clinton's staffers have increasingly accused Barack Obama's campaign of trying to disenfranchise Democrats. On Monday, in a satellite interview with a television station in Montana, Clinton herself made the charge.

"My take on it is a lot of Sen. Obama's supporters want to end this race because they don't want people to keep voting," she told KTVQ in Billings, Montana. "That's just the opposite of what I believe. We want people to vote. I want the people of Montana to vote, don't you?"

It is a growing theme in Clinton's stump speech as she makes her way through upcoming primary states: that she alone, up against rival forces aiming to silence the millions of voters in the 10 remaining primary and caucus states, will stand up for their right to vote.

    Sure lets keep voting Hillary..

And when all is said is done after the primaries and we don't vote for you... We expect you to get out then.

What about when she said "We'll have this thing wrapped up by Feb 4th" back in November? I'm sure she cared about 'democracy" and the process then.

She speaks the truth. Every day in the news and on CNN's website, there is an Obama supporter telling her to quit.

Thank you for staying in the race Mrs. Clinton, you are doing all women proud. You are the leader that the United States needs to move forward with Solutions for a better America. You and your team are very much appreciated.

Why didnt we stop this many moon ago when we had 8 democrats running and Hillary was ahead by 30% above all of them. She looked like a sure winner then. Companies were even making Hillary toys because it was felt she was going to win hands down. So by Obama's logic we could have ended it then.

Let's just continue and see what happens now.

Lying again. Obama isn't saying it. The DNC and superdelegates are saying it. All Obama has to do is ignore this pest and she will go away. Keep your eyes on the McCain. That's your opponent . Hillary is out of the race. THey give her coverage to keep her quiet.

Is anyone fooled by this rhetoric? What she is really fighting for her is her candidacy for President. This isn't about having votes counted or heard. Of course she wants revotes in Florida and Michigan. She can't get the nomination without them. Of course she wants to see the primaries go on in the remaining states. She doesn't have a chance of catching up without them. If things had gone according to her plan, the race for the nomination would have been over after Super Tuesday. Her campaign lacked the foresight to see beyond February 5. It is only now that she is behind that she has cast herself as the defender of democracy.

At the same time, Clinton continues to remark that Obama's pledged delegates aren't tied to him. While that may be technically true, if she really wants the vote respected, she would refrain from such statements.

Don't confuse Hillary's fighting for her candidacy with fighting for you. There is a difference.

Of course they want her out. Most of the upcoming states favor Hillary. Besides, if we can't even count on Obama to stand up for states that have already voted – Florida and Michigan – why should we expect him to stand up for states that haven't voted?

Maybe if Clinton spent more time talking about the issues and less time trying to play backhanded politics she'd actually get somewhere.

  13. Republican voting for Obama

Hillary feels she is owed the presidency after all these years of her and her husband being in politics; but this is just one of the reasons I am voting for Obama. We need new and younger blood and someone who is not so angry and defensive about losing, but who would welcome and help Obama instead of constantly trying to blame him for something. What next will she blame him for? The election!

It is important that politicians match words with action. If clinton touts her experience as evidence of sound judgement, then she needs to exercise it now by recognizing that waste in what ever form does not support sound judgement. Contnuing in the race is a waste of money, human resources and the democrats credibility. She needs to exercise good judgement now by listening to the truth that she cannot win fairly.

you have got o be kidding me! She will not stop telling lies no matter what harm she causes. their is no one saying those people should not vote! what everyone is saying is that. even after everyone votes she still will be on the losing end!!!! get over yourself!!!! but for the people out there almost it seems brainwashed to the Clinton Idea that we just have to keep manipulating and changing rules till she is the winner I am sure she will get support form those people but apparently not money! that is why her campaign is not paying its bills she can not provide universal health care for her campaign and now she wants me to believe that she can provide universal coverage to me and my family what a joke she has truly become. This rhetoric is something I thought I'd only hear during a Genreral Election, not during the Primaries. We aren't electing the President, just who will RUN for President. Nor are any of the upcoming primaries going to be cancelled if Hillary drops out. What she really means is that she wants to cling to the slight hope of pulling off a coup against Obama. It isn't about democracy, it is about her personal ambition.

More lies from Clinton? And what is even more disgusting is the Clinton supporters that say they will vote for McCain if Hillary is not the nominee, I hope you take responsibility for that statement if it plays out like that. Because McCain will crush Hillary Clinton.

Also please take note Clinton supporters, there is a caps lock key on the left side of your keyboard.

    100% Democrat, NO WAVERING HERE!

Republicans are giving Hillary support through Operation Chaos. She doesn't care where the support comes, as long as it comes.

Shouldn't be be disavowing the Republcans who are supporting her?

If not, why should Obama disavow Wright?

    April 1, 2008 04:18 pm at 4:18 pm |

Hillary is a mind controlling women that thinks you are stupid!!!!
Well, she learned form the deceiver of all times. And please,
Hillary, get your daughter Chelsey off the campaign. It is humiliating
for her to get the questions much less answer the questions, and
this is only the beginning of those kind of questions.
The shame of is that Hillary expects these questions won't be asked.
And most of the shame for Chelsey will come when Hillary loses the
And we thought the Legacy of Bill Clinton was over. No, now there
will be a lot more to be written in the books just when we all thought
    the book was closed.

    Obama 2008 or no one.

McCain is a continuation of Bush.

Theres a distinction that needs to made clear. SOME Obama supporters want the race to end for the sake of the party. Obama himself and many of his supporters think that Hillary can stay in the race as long as she wants. Letting everyone have their say is a GOOD idea. However, Hillary bitterly carrying on between the last primary and the convention is NOT a good idea.

    Obama, who are you?
What are the things specifically you are going to change?
And how are you going to change them?
You have ZERO experience at anything.
Motivational Speaker you would be good at, but Pres. of USA, come on, you are outta your league.
People are fools to think you can change anything besides your underware.

Hilary we know who you are.
You are out only for yourself.
You will do and say anything for this Job.
You have not done 1 thing to enhance the lives of Americans.
You want to increase Taxes for Americans and you want Gov to have more Control over Americans.

I don't buy either of you.

Whether the race ends today or goes all the way to August, Obama is going to win...He doesn't care if Clinton wants to drag it out and actually, the longer it goes the more people see her for what she is and this works in his favor too. So keep hanging in all you Obama haters. It's not over till it's over and I would love to see your faces when that final vote is counted. I will wish you good luck as I wish you goodbye

hillary doesn't care about voters, or the democratic party or America... she only cares about herself. She's just greedy and self-serving. It's like she's Nero, watching Rome burn, and saying "if I can't have it, then nobody else can either". hillary is a disgrace and should quit while she's behind for the good of the party and the good of America .
