I am ready for Hillary to be President. She is the most qualified and her plan will help every American in this country. If Obama has divided the country now ,what will happen if he is President. I am not ready for a president that has only been a Senator for 2 years. I personally think he is very arrogant. I think he will be the President of the elite in this country and not the people.

Clinton is not honest, nor is she dignified.

She just told a pack of lies about her pathetic trip to Bosnia just to make herself look important, and feigned memory loss when the media called her on her lies with vivid video footage.

Even if you want to stick your head in the sand and believe she is honest (shudder) and dignified (more shudder), do you really want to vote for a 60 year old PERSON who is suffering from acute memory loss? Will THAT make a dependable commander-in-chief to answer the call "at 3 a.m.?"

The media must stop polling Americans based on race. Why can't America get over skin color, and concentrate on the qualities of the candidates?

If Obama were green, yellow, or blue, I would still change my political affiliation (err...I am currently a registered Republican) and vote for him, should he win the nomination.

So hurry up Hillary. Quit, so America can get on with its life.

Maybe the heading should have read are Americans ready for a non-experienced President. I think the superdelegates should keep their traps shut to about Clintons remarks. They can play God with who they want for the nominee, but not in the general election. Obama needs Clinton supporters to win the Presidency and if ticked off they will go to McCain.

We don't mind a president who is black, we just mind if the president is Barack Obama, who just happens to be black! Make a distinction between the two. I'd STILL vote for Colin Powell in a heartbeat!

As an African American woman, I know that the real issue isn't the fact that Barack is black. The real issue is that he is genuine, and honestly wants to help the country. I'm voting for Barack because he is the best candidate, and the fact that he's black is icing on the cake for me.

He's also the most visionary, look how he has change this election already.

I am an 18 year old college student that is in favor of Obama. People like to attack on Obama's experience. If that is Clinton's major attacking point, as a NY citizen I would like to know what she has done for NY. I honestly don't know. Please tell me all of the experiences of the last few presidents. The last president with major experience was Lyndon B. Johnson.

I realize CNN moderators will most likely not post this comment since it does not fall in line with their propaganda, but here goes anyway: We may be ready for a black president, but one with experience, accomplishments, know-how, and maturity. Too bad Obama does not possess any of those traits. He'll never make it in the general election. By the way, Obama claims to be a Christian? Excuse me, there is nothing Christian about his pastor, mentor, friend, and member of his campaign. No Christian minister would spew the hate for his country and fellow man as Rev. Wright has done consistently. For 20 years, Obama sat in a pew, listening and agreeing until he got caught. Now he wants us to all believe he's had a change of heart and can suddenly distance himself from Wright's rhetoric. Notice, he has not distanced himself from his racist, America-hating mentor, just his rhetoric. And so many of you empty heads bought it.

I am ready for a woman president, just not the one running.
That doesn't make me a traitor to my gender. It just means I have never liked her, I don't like her now. I felt completely unenthusiastic last summer when all anyone could talk about was Hillary Clinton. I was supporting Bill Richardson, but after reading excerpts from The Audacity of Hope, I knew I had found my second choice in Barack Obama.

I didn't vote for Bill Clinton in 1992 and 1996 because of who he married. And I am sure not going to vote for Hillary Clinton based on the same criteria.

Has anyone noticed that Rev Al Sharpton has not come out and endorsed Obama. Wonder why? I saw Rev Sharpton on some of the talk shows trying to defend what Rev Wright said and he didn't have an answer. Also, why did Obama call for Don Imus resignation for the comments he made, but not call for the resignation of his Pastor. He still has not answered the question of WHY he stayed in that church. Also, I am so sick of the media not asking Obama the tough questions about why he didn't leave the church. He was on Chris Matthews last nite & was asked why he didn't leave the church. As usual, he didn't answer the question & Chris Matthews let him off the hook. Chris is so goo goo ga ga for Obama. Thats why now I just turn to Fox news. At least they aint scared of Obama. Obie won't know what hit him when the Republicans get thru with him. The Dems are so busy swooning for this guy that they can't even see that they are going to lose the WH.

I feel that the people who are voting for Obama are voting for him because they think it will be “cool” to have a black president. The Obama camp doesn’t want this election to be about race, but they make it about race. Americans are ready for a woman president, but Americans don’t think it is cool. Come on America.

As a proud Texan, I grappled for weeks when the Wright issue came out, I was shocked! Then we as a family ( my husband and 2 college boys ) watched Obama's speech on race and were inspired to be better than ourselves. Yes, after some soul searching, this proud American white family would love to have Obama as our president!

the way i see it race should not have any factor at all on deciding our president becuase it would be both racist and rude to suggest a young black man could not do a better job then a retarted Hillbilly. You wanna cry inexperience then you are discrediting presidents like lincoln and Jfk and not to mention Bill Clinton. But no one is saying anything about that... funny they are all 3 white. Another lovely convienence.

" A new poll suggests that the number of Americans who believe the country is ready for a black president is on the rise. 76 percent of those polled in a CNN/Essence Magazine/Opinion Research Corporation poll released Thursday say that the country is ready."

Why no Research about gender? How many Americans are ready for a female President? I guess that the porcentage might be lower, but it dosn´t matter. There should have been a reseach!

We were ready. Ready for the first black vice president and president. We were ready for the first woman president and vice president. I still have the audacity to hope for both. It's ironic that to hope for the first black president we have to destroy the hopes of millions of others who hoped for both.

You Americans make us laugh, your economy sucks, you're borrowing money from China, over 50% of you don't even own your homes........the list go on. Now you're supporting a black man that is so inexperienced to be a president.. You have waaaaay better black leaders than Obama. Given the state of affairs that America is in, you deserve Obama for president, you can just add that to your list of misery.

This poll is bull. Its just too sensitive a question to be answered honestly. If your phone rang, and a black voice at the other end asked that question, how would you answer? Some people will say "yes" instead of how they really feel, either because they feel intimidated or feel they must be "politically correct". I think the real percentage is 40-55%, no more. Just an educated guess.

Molly; you are correctbut why has the media always talked about history being made and Obama being the first black President. All the media talks about is black/african american. Originally I supported Obama but that was only until his true colors came out. I'll be darned if I or my family will be part of that. It's obama himself as well as the media that has made this a race issue.

Yes we're ready for a black president.
Yes this the right man at the right time.
Rather than a being woman candidate, Hillary is running more as a corrupt couple desperately clinging to power.
When the right woman runs I'll support her but the best candidate for our country happens to be the black candidate.

Show me a country run by a black president and I'll show you a place plagued by corruption, violence and general mismanagement.

Sure, but not this time. Too much unanswered about Obama. Not enought experience either. Have to go with the tried and true Hillary.

This has never been about skin color for most Obama detracters. It is more about the myth of the man. Cold hard logic and taking the time to do research is what has a lot of us uneasy. I honestly think we have grown up in this country and understand that gender and color are not and should not be a deciding factor on anything. Most democrats that have been around for a while understand that there aren't going to be any big changes. Going on a tour and turning a run for the presidency into American Idol works. People love to hear hope and problem solving. But's it's an empty promise mostly. The next few years are going to be tough enough without people suffering huge disappointment, which is what seems to be coming next if this guy gets in with such huge expectations waving in the wind.

Quite frankly, I don't think of Obama as a "black" candidate. I view him to be the "best" candidate.

Wake up and stop putting words in people's mouths. We are ready for a black president, what we're not ready for is someone with no experience. The way the United States is at this point in time, I for one want someone with experience. Either Hillary or John McCain. And I believe it will be one of the two. Final!!!
