From

(CNN) – Hillary Clinton’s campaign unveiled a Pennsylvania fundraising drive Friday that will allow donors to let the campaign know exactly how their money should be spent.

Supporters can decide to direct their donations to one of six categories, according to a campaign memo: “TV airtime; online ads; radio spots; signs; vans; and door hangers.

“Supporters can mix and match how much they want to put towards each item and then ‘check out’ like an online wedding registry.”

The Clinton campaign has restructured spending after donor outrage over a New York Times report several weeks ago, which revealed that thousands of dollars had been spent on party platters and luxury hotel rooms in January, and top consultants had collected roughly $5 million that month.

Hillary wanted this campaign to be a conversation with voters. This is in line with her thought process. For those people who are interested in getting answers to questions on Hillary's plan for our country, submit your questions at NCaskMe.com. She will answer all your questions on television.

There are no answers on CNN blogs, go to the source for your answers!

COME ON HILLARY – are you crazy. Do you really think the American people are going to now PAY FOR YOUR CAMPAIGN????? That what it is in the end. You can call it what you want, but you want voters of America to pay for your vans, door hangers, signs??????? Let your campaign folks do that they make enough. And all those party trays – too bad Hillary.

If you can't even control your campaign budget – how in the heck can you as President help Americans with this awful economy????? NOT THIS TIME MRS CLINTON. That is your problem your money for your campaign. If your supporters fall for this "stuff", then they deserve you!

That is why I and most of Americans who want their government and their pride in America say. NOT THIS TIME CLINTONS, NOT THIS TIME MCBUSH

GO GO GO OBAMA

KE   April 4th, 2008 4:10 pm ET

Give them a break. These people work hard. Does anybody think running for presidency is easy? This is not old time communism where you don't get rewarded for your hard work. Many media people are taking some time off becasue of so much stress I bet.

By the way, I really like Hillary's new ad "NC ask me". This ad covers different side of her. 3am phone call ad is equally good, it sticks, it is serious, and at the same time people can make a humor out of it if they choose to. Hillary can run these ads everywhere, everytime and all the time. It's America. Well done.

Inspirational speech in big arena is for Obama. Hillary is better on details and behind the desk work and perhaps simple and smaller campaign trail like McCain will be refreshing too. Too many big convention type will wear people out and money too.

Obama works best by creating mood around him. He started this big convention style campaign but I think other candidate should not play into his game. His team outspend everybody and still not ahead (with Michigan and Florida counted).

If Obama gets nomination, republican will go through every missstatements Obama made and claimed with fine comb and will show everybody over and over again why he is not electable. It's nothing to do with his race, like someone said someone else with same resume won't get nomination. It's his record and inexperience and dishonesty and all the misstatements he made on his campaign trail but the media didn't picked up.

Alexa, Marietta GA   April 4th, 2008 4:09 pm ET

It is very strange to me that supporters of Clinton and Obama both have said they will not vote for the other candidate because of the "hate speech."
I want everyone to really think about it – neither Barack ofrHilary themselves has been guilty of "hate speech" in my book and only one of those two individuals will be in the running for President.

If you as a voter are swayed by the words of overly aggressive campaigners or talking media heads or God forbid trolls on the CNN opinion polls then you are not wise enough to cast a vote for the next president of the Untied States. Do this country a favor and examine exactly what these candidates have DONE in thier lifetimes to warrant the job of President and research words that have come DIRECTLY from thier own mouths in order to reach your desicion.

Of course this requires work on your part which I suppose is the flaw in the plan and why we have the president we currently do.

Steve Ca, USA   April 4th, 2008 4:07 pm ET

Gosh who knew? Well it could be a deceptive scheme to launder cocaine money she and Mark Penn have gallently asked the Colombians to provide. She has to married to someone; and oh does she screen out drug addicts even if they are executive lobbyists working on her campaign.

If HRC does not know what is best way to spend the campaign money and need donors to decide for them that shows how badly run her campaign is. She does not have any control and lacks the organization skills to run a campaign.. can America trust her to run the country ?

Jane   April 4th, 2008 3:56 pm ET

Congratulations. You've found something else in Senator's Clinton's campaign to put a negative spin on. And I see a number of the gullible readers you count on are taking the bait.

M.E.M Kansas city   April 4th, 2008 3:55 pm ET

WOW Hillary you're must have a lot of debt to come up with this so call new plan.

Nas from PA   April 4th, 2008 3:54 pm ET

I'm voting in a few weeks. HRC has one commercial and no radio spots. Obama has three commercials and is all over the radio. There are signs for both candidates but more Obama people on the streets. How can you compete with no money? The gap is closing here in the state where she was supposed to route him. The new fundraiser won't help. She's alreay wasted a lot of money and people are tired of her. She had big donors and they tapped out. What will she do now?. Use the pipes from the heavy kitchen sink because nothing seems to be working. Enough already!

Patricia in Las Vegas   April 4th, 2008 3:23 pm ET

Hillary's out of control spending in Las Vegas made the news here back in January. And it wasn't for ads either, over $100,000 on hotel bills alone. For the record, they also report Obama's spending and it was a minor fraction of her bills. And it just isn't the spending that is out of control, look at how many times she has changed her personality...talk about out of control. And for all you people calling Obama supporters "meanies" for stating the facts, take your friggin blinders off and take a cold hard look at who you are supporting, especially looking at the integrity and honesty factor. google Paul vs Clinton.

Susan MO   April 4th, 2008 3:15 pm ET

Praetorian, Fort Myers   April 4th, 2008 3:08 pm ET

I am indeed impressed by Obama's earnings from donors. I'm also, sadly not impressed that he is the favorite candidate of the Democratic Socialist Party of America–above their own nominated presidential candidates.
Pretty soon, he'll have earned more loot than even GW Bush who is the highest earner in history.
Guess this will make Obama's presidency either the worst or the 2nd worst failed Presidency in histroy as well.

Go figure. Here's and idea: if you want socialism–got to a socialist nation. America is a capitalistic society grounded in our constitution–period.

Hillary is totally humiliated over her March donations. Not enough

she sounds scared to me.

I don't believe for one minute that you were ever an Obama supporter. And also, we're giving Hillary back a little of her own medicine, she deserves it for the mud she has dragged the DNC, and the American people through.

jdh   April 4th, 2008 2:47 pm ET

honkey white guy from cali   April 4th, 2008 2:47 pm ET

Barbara in Texas I could not agree with you more! I am an Obama supporter and hope he wins in the GE as i think like many others he has already won the primary. but one the MRS Obama said in a speech earlier this week really reached out to me. Obama can not do this with out you he is not the only one that will have to get up every morning and work to rebuild our great nation we have to pick up and do our part as well.So many Americans are wanting to hire a president and go on with there lives and ignore the problems of America. How sad!!!! these Obama supporters myself included need to step back take a look at ourselves and see if there is not a better way to represent ourselves and our candidate. we are all sick of the negative divisive Hillary games but we too have at time use this posting to spew hatefull comments and ideas to both candidates and I have to belive that people are better that that i have hope!!!

Go Obama 08 Yes We Can

This is the real change he is talking about no more tearing people down and the productive use of positive reinforcment.

This is because she has been unable to manage her campaign finance fro the start and now needs our help in how she should spend it.

Mitch, NY   April 4th, 2008 2:44 pm ET

Like that money will really go towards that end. While you're sending money, ask her if she has some land you can buy. But watch out, she may try to sell you the White House property. I hear it's been bought already.

Ron   April 4th, 2008 2:30 pm ET

Whether you are a Barack supporter or not , YOU HAVE to be impressed with the amount of money and the number of people who have donated to his campaign. Hell, I have to tell you, I have been laid-off for 4 months and I even gave his campaign $25.00!! There is just a coolness about him and the fact you can tell he is not into the "OLD SCHOOL" politics that is frankly quite refreshing.
What has REALLY HURT Hillary is, while she is the first woman with a real chance to become President she comes across as just another politician, willing to do and say almost anything to win. I REALLY believe that if it weren't for the fact there is a large number of 50+ year old women who just REALLY want to see a woman President in their life time Barack would be ahead by another 10% of the vote.
There is NO WAY Hillary is going to match Baracks fund raising..she just doesn't have the appeal...

I am so disgusted that everytime there is a positive story here about Hillary Clinton, Obama supporters come out in droves to post such inappropriate things. For a candidate who claims that he can unite the country, his supporters are certainly proving otherwise. Her fundraising idea is a good one, but of course, the Obama supporters here have to spread their hate and immaturity up and down the blog.

For those of you suggesting Obama is going to "copy" Hillary's marvelous idea, last time I checked Barack does not any advice from Hillary with respect to fundraising! Or with respect to ANYTHING! That's because he has raised more money and gotten more votes!

The fact that Hillary's campaign has created "itemized" giving shows that it recognizes it has lost the trust of its supporters.

Cal Jim 2   April 4th, 2008 2:12 pm ET

To think that Hillarys campaign is deliberatley, wasting money, is just nuts. Hillary, has to make her staff feel appreciated. All campaign staff are over worked, to the max. That being said, it doesn't hurt to get the donors involved in the campaign, in what ever way that is possible. For her new efforts, I say good job. What ever works. More people should give to Hillarys campaign. She runs a very good, and very tight ship. Honest and legal donations are a must to win. I think the DNC needs to look into the illegal, Obama campaign donors of, [under age children], and there parents . As well as faults names for repeat over limit donors. We know this has been, and still is going on with the Obama campaign. That money should not be spent. It should be returned to the sender or to the DNC for legal action. Obama has known about this and still continues to except these illegal donations. People, that donate government money, to a political campaign, ment for the care of dependent children, should be prosecuted.

Would you want someone who can't manage a multi-million dollar campaign to oversee the us' multi-trillion dollar economy? Don't think so!

Obama 08!

lets add a 7th category......GO AWAY !

IF SHE CAN'T RUN A CAMPAIGN HOW WILL SHE RUN OUR

COUNTRY?????

THIS IS PATHETIC!!!!

Why Bother   April 4th, 2008 12:40 pm ET

Hillary should add a category for donors to pay her campaign's medical bills.

Kevin   April 4th, 2008 12:40 pm ET

How come one of the options for donations isn't a PARTY PLATTER, then? Maybe some of us LIKE spending donor dollars on that!

Charlotte   April 4th, 2008 12:37 pm ET

How long before Obama copies this? He is a follower, not a leader!

Jim Shimmer   April 4th, 2008 12:35 pm ET

Lets get this race over. Billary cannot win, more than half the country strongly dislikes her. She lies all the time..

Lets not contribute and lets focus on John McCain! Please people, lets get her outta here. Please!

Drew   April 4th, 2008 12:33 pm ET

And how can we be certain that money will be spent on what we want? She doesnt even release her spending records until three or for months after the fact. I cant trust her anymore, I really cant. I used to like her, but she has really turned me off since Feb. 5. I will still vote Dem in the GE because I care about the country and want to get rid of the Repubs because with a Republican White House and Democratic Congress, nothing is possible (as we have witnessed for almost 2 years now). I prefer Obama, but I want anybody other than McCain.

Vivian   April 4th, 2008 12:32 pm ET

HA HA HA Right

TB   April 4th, 2008 12:30 pm ET

I'd prefer to see a "what issues should she talk about" selection. She doesn't need to sit next to Obama in a debate to show that she knows more than him. She needs to make it known through specifics. I haven't gotten to attend one of her events so maybe they're better than what I see on TV but I wish politicans would stop with simply repeating the generalizations about what they'll do on issues. Why can't someone say blah blah blah economy and here's what the Bear Stearns situation was about and why, blah blah Iraq (and don't whine that sounding like I'm being dismissive about the war) – here's one thing we need to be concerned about with Iraq and whay and how to deal with it, here's something specific about health care.

Even if that's the only bit they memorized (hopefully not!) at least it shows that somebody is thinking. Then you talk your example and talk about it. Then draw a line to connect the issue to your target audience. Walk them along that line so they see what's going on and why you can handle it. "The economy is bad for truckers!" and "People don't like Iraq!", "I will have health care!". Pointless things to say. We heard them about 1,000 already that day.

Glenn; Bakersville, NC.   April 4th, 2008 12:30 pm ET

What if I want to contribute to my own category?

Such as the Hillary Clinton fundraising event dubbed "The Hollywood Gala Salute to President William Jefferson Clinton" Defense Fund or the "Event 39" Defense Fund? Doesn't she need to be preparing for that as well?

An Agnostic Democrat   April 4th, 2008 12:29 pm ET

Well she had a beauty pagaent in Florida so what's to say she won't try to pretend she's not married to Bill any longer, and they don't have a daughter Chelsea together. She's more and more delusional every minute and the lies are still piling up. Sorry Hilldog, going on a nighttime talk show and making fun of your lies just reinforces how inherently dishonest you are. If you can't trust her, don't pay for her "wedding" (vetting?!)!

Tyrone Brown, Seattle, WA   April 4th, 2008 12:29 pm ET

Oh goody!

I'm putting mine toward a short leash for Bill. And truth serum for Hillary. And a lovely princess crown for Chelsea.

Aboomah 4 Obama   April 4th, 2008 12:26 pm ET

How hokey is THIS? Is this how she plans to run the economy?

Didn't The Clintons ask their supporters to buy them items for their new house when they left The White House?

I've seen this movie and don't care to sit through it again!

The Great One   April 4th, 2008 12:24 pm ET

Very..VERY good idea..I salute you clinton...just because i'm an obama supporter doesn't mean I don't respect an innovative idea..congrates.

Charlotte   April 4th, 2008 12:24 pm ET

Good idea, I'm sure Obama will somehow copy this, since he is a follower not a leader.

George, Los Angeles   April 4th, 2008 12:23 pm ET

Go Hillary! Rooting for you all the way to the White House.

Phil   April 4th, 2008 12:22 pm ET

Why didn't they call it grocery shopping which is much more related to her kitchen sink strategy. Pathetic.

mother too   April 4th, 2008 12:21 pm ET

Public eye   April 4th, 2008 12:19 pm ET

No wonder you're out of money, Hill. You have a bunch of crooks running your finance department. Sorry, but I don't think you're going to make it to your "wedding."

VOTER FOR TRUTH AND DIGNITY IN AMERICA   April 4th, 2008 12:19 pm ET

Supporters can decide to direct their donations to one of six categories, according to a campaign memo: “TV airtime; online ads; radio spots; signs; vans; and door hangers.

Hah! So she's basically saying: "I have no idea how to manage my own campaign's money – so can you guys tell me how I should spend it?" :p

shawn   April 4th, 2008 12:18 pm ET

"Supporters can decide to direct their donations to one of six categories, according to a campaign memo: “TV airtime; online ads; radio spots; signs; vans; and door hangers."

They forgot to add, "Pay all of our debts to people in NH, Iowa, SC,....

The Clinton campaign should have done this approach at the beginning of the campaign season. I am a supporter and a small contributor to the Hillary campaign. However, I was diappointed when it was published in the papers that the Clinton staff are staying at the Four Seasons Hotel. Although I believe the candidate herself has no knowledge about it. I still believe that Hillary Clinton is the best candidate and the best president to be able to tackle the economic problems, world affairs and other problems we have now.

Marc in DeKalb, IL   April 4th, 2008 12:16 pm ET

Good idea.

I hope "past due bills" is on that registry, perhaps health insurance for her campaign workers?

Bosnian Sniper   April 4th, 2008 12:16 pm ET

Would I be able to pay off your bad debt?

el   April 4th, 2008 12:15 pm ET

The Clintons can well afford to utilize their OWN $$ to finance their political ambitions!

Angus McDugan   April 4th, 2008 12:14 pm ET

I am sure she will not mislead us not that she has a website to help keep her honest.

Praetorian, Fort Myers   April 4th, 2008 12:13 pm ET

How quaint.

Pretty soon the poor, tired, drug addicted, mentally ill, and illegal aliens will be able to select from a similar menu of entitlement packages and rights to citizenship the same way. Of course all you rich white guys won't have any of those options–you'll be stuck with the tax bill!!

RT   April 4th, 2008 12:12 pm ET

Save your money!!!! It is going to be wasted on a failing campaign that is on life support. If you are going to contribute money that will be well spent on our democracy, invest in Barack Obama's campaign. I guarantee you'll see a return in your investment by November!!

P   April 4th, 2008 12:12 pm ET

hmmm...no "staff health insurance" category?...

vicki $$$$$$$$   April 4th, 2008 12:12 pm ET

I would like to know ........

If Hillary Clinton is so electable then WHY ISN'T SHE WINNING !!!!!!!

Why is she having such a hard time getting elected if she's ssssooooo
electable.

NickSanDiego   April 4th, 2008 12:11 pm ET

The Clinton campaign has restructured spending after donor outrage over a New York Times report several weeks ago, which revealed that thousands of dollars had been spent on party platters and luxury hotel rooms in January, and top consultants had collected roughly $5 million that month

See? Making her friends RICH off of YOUR Donations. You can't make this stuff up people. Hell I would never drop out either if you people kept throwing good money at me even though I can't win. LIVIN LARGE HILL'

dan   April 4th, 2008 12:11 pm ET

How creative.

I'll be happy to donate if one of the categories is a resort vacation after she withdraws from the race.

Jack Tracey   April 4th, 2008 12:10 pm ET

What? No line item for Mark Penn's huge salary?

Or for unpaid bills? Lavish buffets?

Obama 2008 - Yes, WE CAN!!!
