Campaign: Penn wasn't representing Clinton in trade meeting

(CNN) – A Clinton campaign spokesman said Friday senior adviser Mark Penn's recent meeting with the Colombian ambassador to discuss a free-trade deal does not reflect Hillary Clinton's staunch opposition to the proposal.

"She remains steadfast against the Colombian Trade Bill," said spokesman Mo Elleithee, adding that the meeting was "not in any way done on behalf of the campaign."

The meeting, first reported by the Wall Street Journal, occurred Monday. Penn appears to have been acting in his role as chief executive of the international communications and lobbying firm, Burson-Marsteller Worldwide. The Colombian Embassy hired the firm to help achieve congressional approval of the trade deal.

Clinton has said she is against the trade bill, and has sharply criticized America's free trade agreements as she campaigns for the Democratic presidential nomination.

Come on everyone... Everyone has lied at one time or another in their lives... We should not discriminate against her because she lies. Give Hillary a break.

    Does this surprise anyone?

Good gosh, I just saw the youtube video which shows specifically that she was all for "NAFTA"! There is no doubt about it.

Hillary Clinton will lie about anything as long as it propells her to the White House. Get real folks, check out this videa.

Whatever Hillary does at this point is just NOT BELIEVABLE.
She was for Nafta. Mr. Penn, go away. You can't convince us. She
lied too many times and her actions will sway with the voters. She
will do and say anything to win. Just NOT BELIEVABLE. Americans
have been lied to enough. Americans deserve truth. We have been
    hurt by liars.

    Obama 2008 or no one.

So her chief strategist is a political mercenary fighting for the bill, but she is actually against the bill?

Oh, wait, I've heard this one before...

"Pay No Attention to the Man Behind the Curtain!" – Wizard of Oz.

Yes, Hillary will not change her mind on free trade once she is elected, just because her closest advisor is being paid to lobby for it.

You know, it might be a good deal, too. What do we really know about it?

But what is distiurbing is that Hillary will LIE about it to get elected – say ANYTHING at all that POLLS well.

Why just not tell the truth? What do we have to fear from free trade with a country that is in econmic shambles and has little or no manufacturing infrastructure?

Odds are, we'll end up exporting more to Colombia than we import. Presently, most Latin American countries have 50-100% import duties on cars. So if you buy a car there, you get a good one – a Japanese car.

Suppose American cars had no import duty on them? Do you think we might sell a few Ford, Chevys, and Dodges down there?

Just a thought. Lets discuss it, not demonize it and lie about it...
