Campaign: Penn wasn't representing Clinton in trade meeting

(CNN) – A Clinton campaign spokesman said Friday senior adviser Mark Penn's recent meeting with the Colombian ambassador to discuss a free-trade deal does not reflect Hillary Clinton's staunch opposition to the proposal.

"She remains steadfast against the Colombian Trade Bill," said spokesman Mo Elleithee, adding that the meeting was "not in any way done on behalf of the campaign."

The meeting, first reported by the Wall Street Journal, occurred Monday. Penn appears to have been acting in his role as chief executive of the international communications and lobbying firm, Burson-Marsteller Worldwide. The Colombian Embassy hired the firm to help achieve congressional approval of the trade deal.

Clinton has said she is against the trade bill, and has sharply criticized America's free trade agreements as she campaigns for the Democratic presidential nomination.

Problem is knowing where you stand with that campaign. Well, if he wasn't representing them, may be he was representing me.

The Clintons like to talk out of both sides of their mouth to see what takes & what doesn't. This is just one more example. Who knows where they really stand.

Is this the same thing as it was before the Ohio / Texas primary when Clinton called the Canada meeting that they used against Obama? Even though Canada attempted to fix the misunderstanding? Oh I forgot the Clinton camp seems to misword misspeak and misunderstand most everything.

Do as I say, hillary, not as I do . Yet again another example of the clinton hypocrisy and speaking out of both sides of one mouth with a forked tongue . Perhaps the sniper fire came from the vast right-wing conspiracy .

We have had lies, lies and more lies with Bush and the administration, now I find it hard to believe that someone would accept the fact that Hillay got caught in lies and can say so what. Is it not important to have someone in office finally who has some honor?
Bush, Clinton, Bush, Clinton, come on now lets all be smarter then that this time, it might be our last chance to straighten out the mess we are in.

Obama nuts don't try to flip this around because Obama got caught with Canadians discussing NAFTA. He was not representing the Clinton campaign. He was doing the work of his "real" job. Read, comprehend, and then respond.

Wasn't Obama totally ripped by the Clinton campaign when his advisor was caught doing the exact same thing with Canada about NAFTA?

her chief strategist is a chief executive of the international communications and lobbying firm, wow.

    talk about business as usual.

Senator Obama is the only candidate to refuse money from lobbyists. Hillary is going around the country saying how she wants to fight the special interests – how can she say that with a straight face?! They're funding her campaign!
