Do you really think Black people are going to go out and vote for McMain just because Condi joins his ticket? Here is a news flash for you. Black people, including myself, do vote base on issues, concerns, and FACTS not just race. Condi is a Bush supporter and majority(not all, because I am not going to sterotype) black people will vote Democratic. Although we respect Condi for her accomplishments as a Black Woman, majority do not support her political views. Besides she said she wasn't interested.....and frankly neither are we. If the McCain/Rice ticket came to fruition, it wouldn't guarantee and/or divide the black vote.

It makes a good reading and probably a new dawn for US external relations as well as the realization of the real American Dream. For US to heal Darfur, Baghdad and other 'injured' areas, it must first 'heal' itself. The possibility of Condi Rice and Barack Obama going for the top slots - is a good development even just at the psychological level. One hopes that she will state her opinion and have her "signals" felt by either Obama or McCain!

If Condi Rice "has more intelligence and character in her right pinky than all the other candidates combined", then why would anyone vote for McCain? Here's a comparison of the education of the candidates:

Barack Obama: Law degree magna cum laude from Harvard Law School
Hillary Clinton: Law degree from Yale Law School
John McCain: Graduated 894 out of 899 from U.S. Naval Academy

Based on the analogy, Condi's right pinky fingernail might beat McCain.

Condi as VP would be a great choice by McCain.

A point to consider that seems to be left out of the prior posts, is that an African American as a choice for VP (or President) brings to mind the very foundation of the republican party...a party that was formed by the abolitionist movement and born as the anti-slavery party.

I am a young (35 yrs old) black conservative, and proud to be a Republican...a Lincoln republican firstly, and a Reagan Republican secondly.

I am indeed excited by the prospect of an McCain/Condi Rice ticket.

If she does get the VP nomination, that would mean a decisive Democratic victory at election time. She's proven she is incapable of the job she has. Why would she get a "promotion?" The one thing I want to see is a vast sweeping of the Bushies out of Washington. The only way to even start undoing the damage they've done is to get them out of government and put in competent, intelligent individuals who are good at those jobs. Condi doesn't fit in any of those definitions.

If the Republican Party wants to take gender, race and age out of the equation with one fail swoop, she would be an excellant choice. I am at a loss how she would help take the perceptions of a 3rd Bush term, a failed tax policy, a defective economic policy, and a disasterous war in Iraq with an agressive military posture towards any nation or person who disagrees with them out of the consciousness of voters. Guess they could make Nader Secretary of Defense. Just a thought from a blue state resident.

The bottom line is this - C. Rice is the role model that the young women of this country need and deserve. She's strong, intelligent, independent, creative, musical, thoughtful and tough. From 9/11 to now, Dr. Rice probably spun as many lies for the Bush regime as the Clinton campaign! She may have White House experience from working for the Bush administration but she's not a proven leader, only a follower. She's never been elected to anything, only appointed. The war alone would draw scrutiny as either she was a player with Cheney, Rove and Rumsfeld developing policy or just a pawn, an African-American put in a position to make the team look diverse.

Once the focus pulls away from Democratic primaries towards the general election, all this would quickly come to light, and Rice would kill any hopes the GOP would have of retaining the White House. Her ties to the Bush administration would draw negatives from every demographic.

No chance. She would probably be the one of the worst choices McCain could make. He/his people have to know this and probably are just making nice to the media.

this is so disheartening! i understand that everybody on the democratic side is cheering as loudly for their team as possible while the game's still in play, but this isn't a popularity contest. clinton and obama, for all their notable differences (usually in approach more than policy), are practically siamese twins compared to the republican ticket. don't throw the baby out with the bathwater! if you support mccain's policies, then vote for him (feel free to reconsider first), but if you really support barack or hillary, please don't sell out the country in petulance! also, there's no question that the fact that rice is a woman and a minority would be good pr for a republican campaign against either democrat--but do we have to keep talking about her like that's all she is, a token?!? i don't like her past performance either, but are you really going to redeem the republican party in the eyes of we ignorant liberals by using an intelligent (if flawed) public servant as a tool with only two characteristics?

Since the republican party (viewed as primarily the party of" white males") has the 3rd largest number of registered voters BEHIND the Democrates (#1)and Independants (#2), a VP choice of either a minority, a female, or a "2 for1" VP should help a lot.

It doesn't matter what qualification either Obama or Rice have, but I would say Rice can outshine Obama on any given day. And, she'll never be accuse of not being Black enough.

What seems to matter in this race is RACE. Ferraro was right when she said Obama was lucky to be who he is. Many of the African/ American vote would go to a McCain/Rice ticket. More will be exposed about Obama in the national election and the republicans will take the White House and Rice will be the next republican woman president.

Condi Rice is a very "book " smart woman, but has been no more than a puppet to the Bush's. She has not accomplished absolutly nothing but "parrot" any thing the Bush's want her to say. She has been undercut at every turn and still smiles.
If she had any fortitude she would have resigned long ago, asdid Todd-whitman and later Colin Powell. Even he waited too long showing his true colors, and showed he should not be a candidate for anything.
If you can stand prosperity again Clinton in 08. Bill cleaned up the mess made by King George I, now Hillary can help clean up the mess by King George II. It is too big a task but she would do the best job.
