Rice said Tuesday she's not interested in being McCain's running mate.

(CNN) - Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice dismissed rumors on Tuesday she is angling to be John McCain's running mate, telling reporters she plans to head back to Stanford University.

"I very much look forward to watching this campaign and voting as a voter," she said. "I have a lot of work to do and then I'll happily go back to Stanford."

Rice served as Provost at Stanford from 1993-1999, and remains a tenured professor there.

"Senator McCain is an extraordinary American," Rice also said of the presumptive Republican nominee. "A really outstanding leader and obviously a great patriot."

"Rice Dismisses VP Rumors"-GREAT! We don't want her in office anyway! She's about as qualified to be VP as Bush is to be president-not in the least! What insane disease has gripped the GOP this century to even consider running such poor candidates? GOOD LORD!!!!

Darth Vadik, what's it like in Hillary's Kingdom? It sounds like you're there now.

McCain is in good shape as far as the election goes. He'd crush Hillary and will have a close race with Obama.

Make all sense, she is really smart not to run this year since McCain will lose.

Wait for Rice 2012, this make more sense.

Obama is not the only one who can wear pants. Rice can also be a charming and fascinating person. McCain use the WICCA. Obama will Rule the Roost.

I really admire her and I am glad that she is clear as to her next direction. She would have made a great VP. She is not a politician though, so who knows how she would have been as a candidate.

Just as well. She's an empty suit who has contributed to one foreign policy disaster after another. The sooner she goes back to Stanford the better.

  20. Now we know

The reason most news agencies won't report anything bad about Obama, even the truth, is because lots of them are getting death threats if they do.

It's not just that they are against Hillary, they are afraid to say anything else

The woman who knew about the threat of attacks prior to 9/11, because the Clinton administration handed her their intelligence, who then chose to ignore the threats, in fact, within the timeframe attacks were expected, a NORAD standown was allowed to happen due to training exercises.

Condoleeza Rice was a large part of the biggest failure in American Defense ever, leading to the loss of thousands of American lives and nearly half a trillion dollars. All she had to do was pay attention to the information handed to her, but she instead chose to ignore it. If Condi were to "serve" as VP, we might as well allow confirmed terrorists to "serve" in the Senate.

An intelligent woman who just is being used by an incompetent administration. Academia is where she does best.

For those who compare her to Sen. Clinton are way off track. She has endured true danger in this country. As a young woman she lost friends that were bombed in a church. This was here in America.

Really folks, for those of you who keep pointing out that Sen. Clinton is a professional liar you should also look no farther than Sen. Obama. He was a lawyer with a large chicago firm that dealt with sleazy land deals. How much more of a professional liar can you get. And he got paid enough to buy the million dollar home from his equally sleazy former client/supporter. Think about that.
