(CNN) - A presidential ticket including both Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama would surprise many political watchers, but none more so than House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
The California Democrat has repeatedly called such a ticket "impossible," and in an interview with mtvU student journalists Tuesday, she said flatly, "I don't see it."
"In this case, I don't see that as politically expedient," Pelosi said. "New York, Illinois…either one I believe are going to be strong Democratic states. I think it is up to the nominee to choose his or her vice presidential candidate."
Pelosi also seemed to suggest the two current Democratic presidential contenders wouldn't feel comfortable together on the same ticket.
"The person that is good is the person the presidential candidate feels comfortable with," she said, adding later, "I've just been involved in politics for a very long time and I just don't think that would be the ticket."
Yup, I don't think we're gonna see a joint-ticket.
Whomever Hilary or Obama is comfortable with should be irrelevent. It is obvious that Democratic voters are torn between the two, so why not join forces for the "comfort" of the people of the United States. A highly probably win for the party should be their goal, if they are on the same ticket, they both win – everyone wins. I believe that they both can do extraordinary good for the country working as President or Vice President. The problem is, which one will take the lead on this?
She is right.
Tell them like it is, Pelosi. NO-WAY, Obama doesn't need nor wants Hillary is his VP. That position is already taken by Jim Webb of VA.
She is right.
Obama now carries too much dirty beggage even by Hillary's
Hillary Clinton will NOT want him on her ticket,
Hillary Clinton for the peace and prosperity of the Nineties
VOTERS: do not get pulled into the clinton campaign's divisive mug-slinging that has started today...........................
Stay focused on bringing a unified educated new generation of Democrats in 2009.........
Please do not buy into the defiant nature that the clinton campaign has.
Are you kidding? He can't trust Hillary. She will do everything possible to undermine him and insure a failed presidency.
Nancy I like you, but please do not make any predictions. Unless you know for a fact thay they will not run on the same ticket, your opinion is only tht, an opinion.
Trust matters the most to me; therefore, if Hillary wins the nomination or if Obama puts her on the ticket or even if she has a cabinet position in the White House, then I will not vote democrat this year. I just really don't trust Hillary anymore :(
. . . I would not want Hillary standing behind me as V.P. as we may
have to visit a cliff near the Grand Canyon.
I know sooo many people will say that she shouldn't rule out the possible ticket but Pelosi is doing the democratic party a HUGE favor...she is killing the possible disappointment early instead of letting it grow. if soo many ppl start to believe this ticket will happen then lots of ppl will be disappointed if or when it doesn't happen...and that will bring animosity toward the candidate that wins and possibly lead to ppl staying at home or worse voting for McCain....Pelosi is honestly doing whats best for the party...just wish i could say that about others.
Why do people keep asking her the same question when we already all know her answer? And that is completely obvious. Hillary only tried using that to attempt to sway Obama backers into backing her. I am so tired of her political games and lies.
There is a fundamental difference between Obama and Hillary. Obama does not take PAC and Lobbyist money. How can he have Hillary on the ticket who takes money from PAC and Lobbyist? Doesn't make much sense to me.
Please stop asking this question because Nancy needs to keep quiet and UNBIASED. She's walking the line on this one.
Kennedy-Kerry-Richardson The 3 Horsemen of the DNC Apocalypse
Pelosi the messenger announcing their arrival.
Careful, I think Hillary is going to claim the sympathy vote again. Poor Hillary the victim, NOT!
Nancy, you are as sharp as a bowling ball to figure that out.... Amazing.....
Ok, so what I'm getting from ALL these stories is House Speaker Pelosi doesn't think the ticket will happen. I got that from the other stories with the same headlines. Is this still news? Please stop reporting something that isn't news, and that we already know.
Why would Senator Obama want Hillary on his ticket?? She is an absolute liability and a dart board for the republicans....
Of course it won't happen. Clinton will not get the nomination and Obama will need an energetic, honest, new person as VP.
HILLARY AND EDWARDS, THAT WILL BE A DREAM TICKET!!!!
REAL LATINOS WILL SUPPORT HILLARY CLINTON FOREVER, ABOUT 73% OF THE LATINO COMMUNITY STILL SUPPORT HILLARY BECAUSE WE KNOW SHE ALLWAYS SUPPORT OUR COMMUNITY, OUR RIGTHS AND OUR FAMILIES ALONG WITH OUR DREAMS. A REAL LATINO WILL NOT VOTE FOR OBAMA,BECAUSE THIS IS THE FIRST TIME HE EVEN TALK TO US BECAUSE HE NEEDS OUR VOTE, BUT WE ARE A LOYAL COMMUNITY AND WE SUPPORT THE PERSON WHO ALLWAYS CARE ABOUT US, NOT JUST ONLY IN PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION YEAR.
WE LOVE YOU HILLARY.
HILLARY CLINTON FOR PRESIDENT 2009!!!!!
SI SE PUEDE!!!!!!!
Funny but isn't she the same one who said, Democrats can stop the war, help the economy, and stop the Bush bullies? Just because she has been involved in politics a long, long, long time doesn't mean she knows anything as she has proved so far. Besides, her negatives about Clinton has been a major issue with this California witch and Obama has played the kissing game well!
That's right, it wont happen folks let it go!!!!!
And for the Nobama's and Kentuckyboy's leaving their comments. If you are so bent out of shape about Obama and the PAST Wright issue to the point where you feel you will be ashamed to be an American (Per NOBAMA) go to another country and find residence. Because if you weren't or haven't been ashamed of your country over the PAST 8 years and tolerated the BS under the present President we know what the REAL problem is...and it ain’t Wright. Try looking in the mirror you hypocrites. You were probably some of the same few talking mess about Michelle’s comment. Again I say look in the mirror. No matter who is chosen we should all be thankful to live in the great USA. Pay attention to what’s going on around the world, idiots and be thankful you are HERE with President Obama or Clinton.
She is just stating the obvious, Obama would not want Hillary to be his V.P.
Why is this still news ??
WOW!!!! Really, Ms. Speaker.... Are you sure? I think everybody in America knows this.... By the way..... why does Obama seem to always use "uh" so many times. Everytime I hear him speak it's I "uh" did not support "uh" this war "uh...."uh" hey micheal..."uh" micheal jordan "uh" I'm wearing your underwear.. "uh"... "uh".."uh"..vote for change..'uh"...
I hope some of you have a sense of humor....
