Obama: I'd take a vow of silence if I could

Obama said Thursday he’d lay off the speeches for a while if he could.
Obama said Thursday he’d lay off the speeches for a while if he could.

LAFAYETTE, Indiana (CNN) – Democrat Barack Obama told an Indiana audience Thursday afternoon that he doesn't like hearing the sound of his own voice as much as some people might think.

After first mentioning that there was a time when presidential rival Hillary Clinton was "really hammering away" at him by saying he was more of a talker than a doer, the Illinois senator said, "She's not doing it as much now. I guess because it wasn't working."

But, said Obama, it's "not just because I like hearing myself talk."

"I promise you, after 15 months (on the trail so far) I would be happy to take a vow of silence and not say a word. I'd be happy just to sit in an office somewhere and solve all kinds of problems without ever having to give a speech."

Yes please Barack do us all a favor and be quiet.
Don't speak again until you have a clear and concise plan on how you plan on fixing the problems of america.
For months all we have heard from you is change. But never how you plan on doing all this change. Oh right, you have to wait for Hillary to say how she's going to change America and then reword it and call it your own.
Please be quiet go home and let the real people who care about America stand up for it.
Oh and take your racist reverend your' finally' proud of america wife and crook Resko friend with you.
Everyone keeps saying how he's won more states, more delegates, getting more superdelegates, high in polls. yet he can't win the nomination unless Hillary drops out. So if you have all this and still can't win maybe it's time for you to drop out of the race.

It is good sometimes to listen than to talk. Example Bill
Clinton iwasadding more lies to his speech in supporting Hillary in the campain. Better get the facts before you speak. We are all tired of your lies. I guess that is how the Clintons work. "Feathers are things you can see, if you blew them out, you cannot get them all back. " Words are things you cannot see, how can you take them all back"?

Keep your "change" as it will not put food on the table nor roofs over the heads of the unemployed. We need Jobs & Dollars. You keep the change. President Hillary Clinton will put our country back on the road to economic recovery.

Dee: "he looks like a person unbecoming of a president"? Learn to speak properly before you criticize another's looks.

By the way, even if you had phrased your sentiments correctly, it would have been a silly thing to say.

Obama is great and I hope he is the nominee. But if Hillary wins I have no problem voting for her. The goal is to get a Dem in the Whitehouse. Either candidate winning represents significant change in America.

He is definantly showing that he can't stand through this campaign and every week another skeleton pops out of his closet. Can we expect to have a new president to just get in the office, kick up their feet, and do nothing? We have a number of issues that can't wait for someone to learn how to be President. Obama should stay in the Senate for a bit longer before playing in the big leagues.

The people of PA really need to know just who donated money to the Clinton campaign. I wonder if people who are for NAFTA donated money and also if Marc Rich donated money to Hillary's campaign. Remember him, the guy who received a pardon from Bill, after his wife gave the Clinton's millions of dollars. I'm telling you people, Hillary is going to get a big pay day if you let her Universal Health Care go through. The people in Germany are crying right now because they have the same Universal Health Care Plan that Hillary wants. They received a mandate and they never knew how much iit would cost them. Now they are crying and there is nothing they can do about it. At least Obama is for the same thing, but he knows it will not be easy and at least we will know how much we have to pay into the medical plan. It gives us the choice, not make us pay for something we cannot afford. Wake up America.

ok, for all the dumb people in here, he is being metaphorical by never wanting to speak again. if you had to speak every day for a year with little to no rest, you'd wanna take a break, whether the break is a weekend or w/e. secondly, war is exactly not wat America needs right now (so Mccain is out of the question i guarentee you that many of mccain votes will be based on the fact that he is a white male, not a black man or a woman.)
secondly, the clintons have had enough scandals in the white house to last a lifetime, lets move on

My goodness. You HRC supporters have such a desperate attitude. Dont be mad that Obama has won more states, popular votes and has an insurmountable amount of pledged delegates!! Relax.

Maybe you should go to a HRC friendly blog...on HRCs website. Oh....oooops, I forgot you cant even post there either.

There is only a snowballs chance in hell you will ever see your comment.

How is that for heavy censorship and transparency!!

Does anyone else notice that he talks about the most rediculous "stuff" trying to connect to people.

He relates working at an ice cream place with wearing a hat that was not making it easy to pick up girls. Now, a vow of silence.

He makes no sense to me with these comments. Take a stand on issues, present concrete plans and answer questions that are asked.

Act like a President if you want to be President.
