Bush approval rating hits all time low

President Bush's job approval rating hits all time low Friday

(CNN)— With the economic outlook looking dim and the continued war in Iraq, President Bush’s job approval rating hit an all time low Friday, according to a just released poll.

The latest Gallup poll shows the president’s approval dropped to 28 percent, the lowest of his eight years in office.

The survey, which questioned 1,021 adults between April 6 and 9, with a sampling error of plus or minus 3 percent, found the decrease came largely because of Democratic and Independent dissatisfaction with his administration. Only 6 percent of Democrats questioned and 24 percent of Independents had a favorable opinion of President Bush, with about two-thirds support coming from Republicans.

The new estimate marks one of the lowest approval ratings any president has seen since World War II, with the exception of Jimmy Carter, Richard Nixon and Harry Truman, who all had a mid 20 percent approval rating in their final years in office. The all time lowest presidential approval rating was 22 percent in 1952 during Harry Truman’s final year in office, who like President George W. Bush dealt with problems related to the economy and an unfavorable war.

Bush’s approval ratings have hovered around the low 30 percent range since July of 2007. It reached a high of 90 percent in 2001, just days after the September 11 attacks.

Neoconation, I hope that was sarcasm, otherwise you don't have a clue.

You said "We must preserve democracy in Iraq and spread democracy to the rest of the middle east by whatever means necessary. It is our moral duty." And that is a load of crap.

It is not our moral duty to spread our way of thinking to the rest of the world. This is the kind of thinking that has ruined prospering civilizations in the past. We went to Iraq, and got rid of the tyrant. That should have been enough.

The reason islamic terrorism exists in the first place is because they are upset about the western culture and our influence in the middle east. That is not the sort of thing we can fight and win. Have you seen Batman Begins? You can't kill an idea. And in this situation, the "idea" is radical islam. Those people are upset because we are there, and a continued occupation there will result in more violence.

Also, you same conservatives who say that it's our "moral obligation" to be in Iraq completely ignore other parts of the world. There are governments in Africa that are far more oppresive and vile then Saddam. Yet, nobody gets riled up about it because they don't have any oil to offer us. Republicans use morality and Christianity to justify this war, which is very hypocritical if you ask me.

Furthermore, I saw a video of Dick Cheney from before he was VP, and he said that occupation of Iraq qould be a complete quagmire, and it would be impossible for us to acomplish anything there if we took out Saddam's government. Look for the clip yourself, or just catch a rerun of this week's "The Root Of All Evil."

George W. Bush 50 years from now will be remembered as the best environmental President since T. Roosevelt. Why you ask?

    1) After decades of tree-hugging liberals trying to reduce gasoline usage by raising gas to $5/gallon, it looks like GWB has done it (bless his heart). We finally are getting a change in the way cars are built and driven thanks to the crushing price of gas.
    2) By crashing the value of the dollar, we can't import junk from overseas because our currency won't even buy imported bubble gum. Score one for George!
    3) Finally, by devastating the credit market he has final wrung the life out of Americas rampant consumerism.

It took a thoroughly incompetent buffoon to bring the American economy to its knees, hence choking off cash of the biggest polluter on the planet.

I always get a kick out of people who say we haven't had a single terrorist attack on U.S. soil since 911...hey terrorist aren't STUPID, they are not going to attack you when you're ready for it to happen. With Bush's ratings so low what I wonder is who are the ones that still actually support him and why they do. Except for his family and cabinet and a few right wing talk show host, who are these 20 some percent. Maybe they should do a poll on that!

    Democrats-

YOU ARE NOT GOING TO WIN IN 2008. Face it, you're going to complain for another 8 years like little babies that want everything given to them for free.

I wonder if the demographics of who votes for each party mean anything... hmmmm

    Vote for democrats =
    minorities
    low income scrubs
    overpaid union workers
    uneducated

wow, what a smart group of voters. Wonder why democrats don't win? Got to think that there's a few of us out there that don't fit into this category of fools that vote blindly based on their social status.

Clearly McCain is going to win this election. SHUT UP DEMOCRATS and watch your msnbc....

Lower than Lincoln during the civil war.

However president Obama will beat that low approval rating with an even lower one.

He has hyped up his people so much that there is no other place but for his popularity to go but down.

George Bush's approval rating should be at zero. That fact that there are Americans who still support him is just incredibly pitiful.
