(CNN) — Hillary Clinton wants her husband to quit talking about her trip to Bosnia in 1996, the former president said Friday.
"Hillary called me and said, "I misstated it, you said I misstated it, but you got to let me handle it because you don't remember it either'...I said 'Yes ma'am," Clinton said while touring the fire damage of a campaign office in Terre Haute, Indiana.
The comments follow those he made in Boonville, Indiana Thursday, when he strongly defended his wife over the recent coverage surrounding her 1996 Bosnia trip claims, saying the media acted as if she'd "robbed a bank."
"I got tickled the other day, a lot of the way this whole campaign has been covered has amused me, but there was a lot of fulminating because Hillary, one time late at night when she was exhausted, misstated and immediately apologized for it, what happened to her in Bosnia in 1995. Did y'all see all that? Oh, they blew it up," he said.

Worse yet for the democrats, Bill is putting Hillary in the same camp as McCain – using "senior moments" to explain gaffes. Furthermore, no matter how old you get, I don't think you really forget if bullets are whizzing past you.

"This proves that Hillary is able to stand up to Bill and therefore strong and read to lead on day one and blah blah blah..."
When you have to publicly rebuke your husband for perpetuating the ONE lie you've owned up to, you're climbing your way back up from the bottom of a very deep and slimy barrel.
I guess that he just "misspoke" three times. This is a claim that she made more than one over a period of days, it wasn't a single "misstatement".
Remember when these two were being sold as "two for one"...now Hillary is not only distancing herself from her own misspeaks but Bill's as well...
And by the way, that fire in her campaign headquarters comes right on time! A clever way to defflate the gaffe Bill made on her behalf!!!
If she can't control him now how will she control him when he's First Gentleman? Actually Hillary seems to have very little control of her staff (Mark Penn) as well. What kind of Administration will she govern? On the flip side of the three canidates OBAMA has had the a very well run political campaign that has managed to go against the very politically experienced Clinton machine and (so far) beat it.

I admire public service, but Hillary should focus on her marriage. Obviously there is no room for both Bill and the United States.
They should at least discuss their lies so they can be on the same page in public. They lie, and then they lie about lying, hoping that no one will catch it. This is just ridiculous!

There is no need for Hillary to embellish her records because they are great as is. It was a mistake and she admitted it. Let's move on as long as it is not repeated often! This is the first time I heard of something like this from her! S. Obama claimed to be a law professor in one of the early debates, which was not true! S. Obama denied hearing those racial remarks in his church, which was not true! S. Obama denied his campaign met with a Canadian trade official, which was not true!
yes, and she 'misspoke' in her book and the numerous other previous times she repeated the same lie. Love those Clintons, they sure now how to lie and then circle the wagons to minimize it. As has been said before, the Clintons have a strained relationship with honesty.

We've heard multiple reasons why Hillary got this one wrong ... which is probably the clearest proof that it was a knowing fabrication. This is one of the reasons why I now understand my previous general feeling of discomfort with her. One other example: her sudden discovery of the Democratic voters in Florida and Michigan ... as I recall, she agreed to the rules put forth by the DNC at the time. Now, because they didn't work out to her benefit, she wants to change the rules late in the game. There are words for both of these examples.
