Democrats put faith front-and-center on the campaign trail

Will Sen. Obama beat out Sen. Clinton with the faithful?
Will Sen. Obama beat out Sen. Clinton with the faithful?

(CNN) - Which Democrat is winning the battle for religious voters? God only knows.

So far this year, Hillary Clinton has maintained an edge among Roman Catholics, many of them the Hispanic and working-class white voters who have been among the most loyal members of her base.

Thanks in large part to that support, many surveys had also given her a slight edge over Barack Obama among white Democratic voters who attended church of any kind regularly.

But in exit polls, the category of regular church-goers - those who attend services at least once a month or more - were more likely to choose Obama. That category in many states was dominated by African-Americans, who have overwhelmingly backed the Illinois senator's candidacy.

Since you are asking the questions in tonight's program at 8:00 pm, do you think you could ask Barack 1st and Hillary 2nd and then the next question, you could reverse the order.
This seems much fairer then your last debate, when you always asked Hillary 1st.
I would like to know if Barack can answer a question 1st, since in your last debate he kept saying I agree with Hillary !
It would be nice to know if he can answer a real question 1st rather than "rhetoric" and no common sense !

What church is Hillary a member? Haven't she heard the comparison of Christ and the church to that of a marriage. She jumps on Obama for not leaving his church because of Wright's comments yet she didn't leave her marriage after Bill's dally with Monica.

    "God only knows"

Wouldn't it be great if we had a candidate that actively tried to keep religion out of politics?

Since Hillary says she believes that the resurrection of Jesus actually occurred, I would like to ask her:

Would Jesus approve of the idea of encouraging the 800 Democratic superdelegates to overturn the majority preference of tens of millions of American voters?

(If anyone thinks the answer is "Yes," I suggest they re-read the New Testament.)

I am looking forward to Senator Obama's presidency. If we let him, and this is a big IF, he might just be the first president in a long time to force us to hear what we don't want to hear. Senator Obama has, however, opened a huge debate on the disenfranchised resorting to God and guns. This happens the world over. Is it not the Republicans who said that people in 'failed states' ( bitter) resort to terrorism ( guns ) and fundamentalism ( God )?

Hillary doesn't regularly attend church. Why doesn't that resonate with the Catholic voters? It will be interesting to find out tonight what she has to say about faith if she is weak in this area.

Now we battling on who can win the religous voters? This is crazy. It is like Clinton saying she can get the older people and blue collars and Obama get the Africian America. People this is an election not about religion or race. If this was the case then God forbid who would win. Maybe we should elect Rev. Wright. Get a life.

Obama attends church. So, they attack him for doing so........in the church he attended. Probably will be interesting what he has to say tonight.

By the way, he wasn't attacking people FOR attending church recently. He was saying when they cannot believe in our govt they hug closer to their religion, or faith for comfort.

Can't we just stick to the real issues, like the War in Irac or the economy? After almost 8 years of an allegedly Born-Again in the White House, I am sick of hearing about Religion, it is just causing more and more division in our Country. Enough is enough, let's enter the 21st Century and govern with facts, not a magic book.

Obama's support from African Americans is not a surprise. It 's almost an automatic, given to him without real objective thought.

Yes, people who have little faith in people, would of course vote for Mrs. Clinton. Only those type of people could believe that lying and cheating are acceptable in our politicians. They would also be less likely to believe someone could "fix" politics or ever dream that we could achieve such a goal.

Small town vs. small state. Hilary is manipulating Obama's comments about small towns but just a few weeks ago she was dismissing the primaries of small states.

I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED IN SENATOR CLINTON. I AM AN EIGHTY TWO YEAR YOUNG LADY, I HAD VISIONS OF HER BEING OUR PRESIDENT. INSTEAD OF TRYING TO KEEP THE PARTY UNITED, HER MOUTH IS DOING JUST THE OPPOSITE.
THE COMMENT SENATOR OBAMA MADE ABOUT PEOPLE BEING ANGRY ABOUT JOBS AND THE ECONOMY , I DO UNDERSTAND WHERE HE IS COMING FROM, MY CHILDREN AND GRAND CHILDREN ARE HAVING A ROUGH TIME GETTING JOBS. PEOPLE WILL HIRE THEM FOR TEMPS. SO THEY WILL GET LAID OFF; THIS WAY THEY CAN ONLY GET MINIMUM WAGES. SOME CAN'T EVEN GO TO COLLEGE, BECAUSE THEY CAN'T MAKE ENOUGH MONEY , BEING LAID OFF. I KNOW OF A CASE IN MY TOWN: THE COMPANY BROUGHT IN HISPANICS, TO LEARN THE TRADE FROM EMPLOYES, THEN THEY WERE LAID OFF AND REHIRED AT A MUCH LOWER PAY SCALE. SO I DON'T KNOW WHAT HILLERY DOESN'T UNDERSTAND.

Bush said he found God (through a 12 step program) and turned this nation on top of its head. A person's relationship with their God is their own and no one elses. This country has not learned from the religious diversion politicians use to avoid answering questions and making statements that are truthful whether we like the statement or not. If Hilliary and Bush are so religious, why do they lie as if its as natural as breathing and keep a straight face? For Hilliary to jump on the band wagon regarding Obama's remarks is sickening and downright lower than a snake's belly. If Hilliary by a miracle becomes the nominee, it is quite clear that McCain will be elected and this country will get what it deserves.....no jobs, high fuel and crime rate and more loss of homes.

I hope they draw the line in what they truly believe. It is obvious that neither really adheres to any faith. I don't htink there is any faith that supports abortion or gay marriages.
