Who cares? Mrs. Jerk Obama is probably as unpolished, sleezy and snotty as her husband.

Obama sounds more and more like the black preacher scolding his congregation. True colors are coming out.

Eric   April 14th, 2008 1:48 pm ET

Well, nice to know racism is alive and well. Pretty scary to say the least. So basically, all african americans should be grateful because since the sixties, they can sit where they want in a bus. The level of bigotry and intolerance is simply sickening.

cliff   April 14th, 2008 1:47 pm ET

Fortunately Senator Obama and his wife do not feel that they have to wrap themselves in the American flag to show their loyalty. The country needs someone with substance as President not someone filled with hatred and feelings of entitlement as often displayed by the Clintons.

Jeanne   April 14th, 2008 1:34 pm ET

I'll watch!

Jeff   April 14th, 2008 1:33 pm ET

I am a Canadian citizen and i am appalled at the absence of commonsense, and logic and ignorance displayed from reading some of the comments written especially by Clinton supporters. By and large. You need be be more objective in in thinking and see things in totallity instead in your own misguided tunnel vision. American voters have become a laughing stock to the world. The world still wondering how Americans voted Bush for a second term as its President.

Pamela   April 14th, 2008 1:32 pm ET

Finally they are letting her come out of the closet. She must be a liability to them since the last time she spoke. Kind of like Rev. Wright keep him out of the public eye so he does not cause problems for Obama.

SZ   April 14th, 2008 1:31 pm ET

Can't wait to see her make a fool of herself.

An Agnostic Democrat   April 14th, 2008 1:31 pm ET

All of Hillary's bitter, hate club members and the nut-job whackos can't handle the truth because they've never been exposed to it. All they know is spin, lies and talking head opinions with NO FACTS to back up their arguments.

But then again, what do you expect? This is the same crowd that voted Bush into office - TWICE! That took the use of the one brain cell they operate off of to get through their minute-by-minute empty, sheltered, misinformed lives.

Anonymous   April 14th, 2008 1:30 pm ET

are you the poster child for ignorance or what?

Enough Michelle bashing. Until you've walked in another's shoes,
You can't possibly evaluate her experiences or her views on pride.

jenny   April 14th, 2008 1:24 pm ET

To all out there who keep harping about what she has said about being proud of this counrtry should just bite it.She is proud of this country for the first time in her ADULT life to see so many YOUNG people going to the poles and getting involved.Havent any of you ever said anything that was taken out of context?
I feel the same way it brings tears to my eyes when I see the young college students getting so involved instead of saying our votes dont count why bother .so guess what lay off.

zina   April 14th, 2008 1:23 pm ET

People! This is a wife and mother, not a politician. Show a little respect!

Can we just get on with it? I am worn out with the petty politics.
Billery is running scared and not acting very nice. I supported her a few months ago, but the lies turned me off. Mis-speaking is one thing, but lies I won't tolerate. I switched to Barack and only wish he were pro-life. Bring on Casey for a dream ticket.

tejasoutlaw   April 14th, 2008 1:22 pm ET

Aliou
Obama doesn't take money from the lobbiest, just the firms that hire the lobbiest. So he is taking the money from the business man instead of the lobbiest the business man hires to lobby for him.
The lobbiest are not going anywhere.
Just one of the empty dreams Obama is selling.

Michelle we love you and look forward to hearing from you. You are a bright intelligent and articulate woman and we admire you.

Rose - Baltimore, MD   April 14th, 2008 1:18 pm ET

CNN you deleted my last comment.

I was responding to Charlotte's who said Michelle was ugly - ugly is Hillary and her family both in looks and in character. Also I was responding to Paullett in Ohio, the only person that is racist is you and not Michelle.

Shame on you CNN for deleting my comment.

Thank you

david e. roberts   April 14th, 2008 1:15 pm ET

Clinton did not win Ohio, Governor Strickland won Ohio for her.
Clinton won't win Pennsylvania, Governor Rendell will win Pennsylvania for her.

Barb   April 14th, 2008 1:14 pm ET

Obama keeps talking about change, he keeps talking about all the work he did in Chicago. Ask Michelle how she felt about living in that big house they bought from a slumlord, while her husband worked with the less fortunate in the slums .

david e. roberts   April 14th, 2008 1:12 pm ET

Why hasn't the news media made comments about Senator Clinton very rarely speaking without at least one or two large men standing directly behind or beside her? Can't she appear to be strong and credible standing alone?

YES! I do frequently.

Edwards   April 14th, 2008 1:12 pm ET

How is Michelle a racist? You people are IDIOTS (and yes, moderator I did mean to yell)! She doesn't have to prove America is mean….the evidence is on these blogs.

I have never been less proud of America then I am right now. If a natural born American is saying that, then I can see why other countries hate us so much. You all call the Obamas' elitist, but is that not the American way? I sure can't tell based on your, rude ,ignorant, and holier than thou attitudes and comments.

I hate to stoop to the level of idiotic, small minded CNN bloggers, but a lot of you all need to get a grip.

CJ   April 14th, 2008 1:11 pm ET

She needs to stay far away from the media as possible, because she can't possibly help Barak at this point! He's sealed his own fate!

Peejay   April 14th, 2008 1:10 pm ET

Exactly what qualifies a comment for rejection? This disgusting representation of Americans, mostly Democrats (sorry to say) makes me wonder if anyone remembers what this is all about. Climb out of your single-issue, sound bite boxes and act like adults.

Geez, surviving brain donors or what?

chelsea clinton and bill clinton are center stage in this election. Michele and Obama's systers are completely ostracised. Why cnn?

If chelsea or bill or Hillary say some stupid, you find excuses. If any of the obamas say something you don't agree with, you make it the head lines and you try to recruit more people to your point of view. Why? cnn, why?

Where has journalism gone? Except for a few of you, most journalist and your guests seem to be hand picked to bash Obama. why?

Obama is our hope to get rid of the militaro industrial complex and the lobby once and for all.

We will stick by him. rain or shine

Go Hillary!!!

Wow, you couldn't be more mis-informed. First of all, if you want to quote a tiny bit of her statement, why don't you make it "I am really proud of my country" because that's exactly what she said (probably news to you). But only cynical people could read a statement that concludes with "I am really proud of my country" to mean "I hate my country." Wow, people! Bleat away, sheep! Bleat away!

independant tj - I'm a summa cum laude/phi beta kappa college graduate and a law student, and I am solidly behind Hillary.

I can't understand why Obama is able to brainwash so many intelligent people, besides the fact that the idea of an African-American president is "trendy" amongst the far-left.

That said, I cannot and will not let John McCain win in November. If we nominate Obama, barring any unforeseen information, he will have my vote.

Karl   April 14th, 2008 1:03 pm ET

Are you people kidding? Michelle is obviously an angry person and for the life of me I don't know why. She didn't have the grades for Princeton but thanks to Affirmative Action she got in anyway. She's got two kids, a husband who seems to care about her, a good job, a $1.65M home and yet she doesn't like America or think much of Americans. I don't know what her problem is but I know I don't want it in the White House. She is just scary.

Hmm…maybe Colbert will get a copy of her thesis…LOL

Maggie   April 14th, 2008 1:03 pm ET

I find it very demeaning and quite sad that we have people in this country that have said such hateful words. I don't suppose anyone of you have misspoken. left words out of their sentences? Of course not!!! That would be an elitist, wouldn't? I get the impression you people don't like black people??? Yes, you are right, Hillary Clinton would be a better MAN than Obama!!!! And i know why she can't answer that 3 AM call!!!!! She's drunk from all that whiskey from Canada!!!!! Oops!!! Than agan, she might be lying about that too!!!Maybe she will say she was drinking tea!!!!After googling Bill Clinton 1991 and the white people and found Bill Clinton's Scandals and what he said about WHITE, I would think she and Bill would hide their faces!!!!

joseph Jacir   April 14th, 2008 1:02 pm ET

..And to all of you who think Michelle does not love America tell me if Hillary really loves America…..At least Michelle is real and genuine…Hillary is fake and a liar and you want her to be our president…Hillary is for Hillary not for America…All she wants is power and more millions to collect …

Darth Vadik, CA   April 14th, 2008 1:01 pm ET

A lot of Republicans pretending to beDemocrats for Hillary in here,

OK whatever you say Mr and Mrs American.

What a pathetic joke you guys are, and very petty too.

Oh did I forget racist….

get real   April 14th, 2008 1:01 pm ET

For all those people who say Michelle should be grateful for her house and education. Dont forget she worked hard to get into Princeton, worked hard to get into Harvard, and worked hard to be respected at the law firm she worked at. Nothing was given to her. While she was working hard she always had people telling her that she cant do this or cant do that, but she did not let her stop her. So does she have a right to say I am not proud about the way the country treated her based on her race, gender, and socio-economic status? I think she have everyright to say I am not proud of country that claims we should be all treated equal but in fact did not treat her equal. But now when she see that the country is not judging her husband on his race and is supporting. She have everyright to say that finally I am proud to be an american because this country is finally treating people equally.

independent tj   April 14th, 2008 1:00 pm ET

After reading these posts, I now have a better sense of the demographics of the candidates' supporters. There is a clear difference between the tone of Obama's supporters vs Hillary's. Obama's seem to be more educated as the polls suggest.

Too funny…

Person of Color   April 14th, 2008 12:59 pm ET

Most of the comments have tried to chastise Michelle Obama for being elitist or un-American. The truth is, as a person of color, growing up in the United States with the institutional racism which still permeates all facets of our public life, it can be difficult to be really proud of your country. The American Dream that many on this comment board have been living is in complete contrast to the American Reality of growing up black & brown in America. When you take a look at the poverty in communities of color, an educational system which consistently fails students who are not white, a criminal justice system which creates criminals of our juveniles, a federal government which fails to adequately respond to a natural disaster like Katrina. America is not so simple, there are people who do have it good, and not based on merit. Provide some context to her comments and maybe people will start to look beyond their racist prejudices.

To Negative Billary Folks   April 14th, 2008 12:59 pm ET

It is a pity that you are so negative of Michelle but remember that when you point a finger to someone the other four is pointing back at yourself. In otherwords, whatever you are expressing here about Michelle says mirrors a lot about your personality!

CB in Florida   April 14th, 2008 12:58 pm ET

I don't see why so many people hate Michelle Obama - you can't really blame someone for the views she esposed as a college student. Everyone has had bad moments and said dumb things. Witness Hillary, Obama and McCain.

On a different note, I agree with Obama's comment on "bitter" voters, but I think it is Hillary's responsibility to pounce on him if she believes she will be a better president (which I do). I also agree with Geraldine Ferraro's comment on Obama's electability. There's a high price in politics for telling the truth.

Hillary '08

Ken   April 14th, 2008 12:57 pm ET

I can not imagine the media giving Chelsea air time and ignoring Michelle Obama who is out there campaigning and she is the one who is the spouse of a candidate. The clintons have been favoured by the media. When Hillary does a mistake she is allowed to poke fun of a serious blunder.

Isn't high time for people to call for our media and see how things are being reported?

Go michelle, time for you to shine and outshine them!

Wondering?   April 14th, 2008 12:57 pm ET

Okay, now, that last comment, some of us are more educated than the rest of you? You will vote for Hillary? Doesn't your holier-than-thou logic backfire here? You yell about the bitter comment. HELLO?

Michelle, in case none of you have taken the time to listen to more than the one line the media, (and I'm sure it was given to the media by the Clinton campaign), has ran over and over again is a very intelligent and knowledgeable speaker.

Michelle, you are going to make a wonderful first lady. YOU GO GIRL!
Sorry to you and all the people in the election process that have everything they say and do taken out of context.

Fitz   April 14th, 2008 12:57 pm ET

Oh you people please need to stop, get off the band wagon and think for yourselves. How many times have I heard someone say "I've never been so proud of this or that" especially when it comes to family. It's just something people say and you all are acting like this is the worse thing you have ever heard. You think Michelle hates America and Obama is a Racist.Elitist.

African American living in America and he is an Elitist and hates America..Wow

He was born with a silver spoon in his mouth, forget about the food stamps his mother used to be on and no he never had to struggle for anything. Let me know when some of you get back to earth.

David Minneapolis   April 14th, 2008 12:56 pm ET

Hillary Clinton- Worth $100 million plus dollars (how much is in your bank account?). Former First Lady. Wellesley College (elitist college) graduate. Feels entitled to presidency. Thinks being First Lady makes one ready to be President on Day One (does that make Laura Bush ready to be our next president?)

Barack Obama - Raised by a single mother. Worked as community organizer in South Chicago in neighborhood devastated by economy. Chose to do this after being editor of the Harvard Law Review…he could have had any lawyer job in the country. Let's see…hmmmm.

When I hear people saying that Hillary is 'just like us', what they are saying is, well, she's white. Cause that's the ONLY thing in common that she has with you or me…or, if you're a woman, I guess she's a really rich, powerful WHITE WOMAN.

The Colombian Free Trade Agreement will come up for the next President to sign…think Hillary, whose husband worked for this agreement and whose chief Campaign advisor had to quit because he was working on this with the Colombian Government, will sign this? Then, just like NAFTA you'll be seeing more plant closing signs and that little pink slip in your cubby hole at work. Wanna bet on that one. But that's right, when your unemployment benefits run out just remember this, Hillary understands you…she's "just like you."

mike   April 14th, 2008 12:56 pm ET

Well what do you expect - she's been sitting by her husband's side in the good Reverand's church for a long time now. Knowing what we now know about this wack job Reverand and how Michelle says it's the first time in her "adult" life she's proud of America (just because her husband's running) and Obama's recent "bitter" statements, I think we can sum up that these two are Wright's "right hand" servants. Don't vote for this guy, I'm tellin ya don't do it. We don't know enough about him and everyday another stone is turned over and another one of Obama's slimy friends comes out.

et   April 14th, 2008 12:56 pm ET

Both Michelle and the Rev. Wright live in mansions, yet they both say how awful the United States has been to them. Barack went to Harvard and Michelle to Princeton. Michelle is making $350,000 per year. Yes Michelle we understand, it is hard for you to be proud of America with such harsh living conditions. Perhaps Liberia would have treated you better.

Paulette in Ohio,

When did someone being proud of her country for the first time in her adult life make Michelle a racist. If you need to see a racist look in the mirror.

Thanks

kathleen retired Professional w/woman for obama   April 14th, 2008 12:47 pm ET

I hope we can "believe in America again", sometime in the future.
Michelle used one sentence and she gets bombarded for months
about how "unpatriotic she is. Obama uses the word "bitter" to
discribe the "feelings" of the forgotten and downtrodden of America.
I am bitter at times when it takes $50 to fill my small car with gas.
I am bitter when America believes these lies and makes one sentence or word "the end" for a candidate. Hillary has lied, conned,
America to the fullest. And I am going to be "bitter" it American votes
in Another Liar that hangs with Republicans and laughs at us. Obama
will not forget you PA or Indiana. He will be back. He does care about
you. He is trying to tap into, "the feelings" of pain in all of America.
It cost me and my husband $750 for medicine today. AND WE HAVE
INSURANCE!! HILLARY IS AN ELITIST AND DON"T CARE AND WILL
NOT BE BACK TO PA OR INDIANA. GOODBYE, NO THANK YOU FOR
VOTING FOR HER. IS AMERICA GOING TO BE STUPID AGAIN????

rachel   April 14th, 2008 12:46 pm ET

Being attacked by losers who blindly repeat Hillary's talking points is the price you pay for daring to help create a more perfect union. We LOVE YOU Michelle!!!!

Mike   April 14th, 2008 12:46 pm ET

Make certain there are no American Flags on the set, for she is "not that proud."

Go Hillary!!!

REENA   April 14th, 2008 12:46 pm ET

Can Barack continue to lie about not having lobbyist support? Can Barack even in a debate with Hillary Clinton (when she brought up this man's name) outwardly lie and claim that the man never worked with his campaign?
YES HE CAN!! He boldly claimed "That's a lie." He was, in fact, doing the lying. How can we trust this type of change when it's the same old Washington lie?

fred   April 14th, 2008 12:46 pm ET

Obama is fighting for Orpha, his pastor and the blacks vote. End of Story!!

Get out NOW Obama!!!

W   April 14th, 2008 12:46 pm ET

Maybe she can explain why her husband never moved to Washington to perform the public service job that we pay him to do. He is supposed to be a Senator, right?

Maybe Colbert can ask her about her neighbor, Mrs Rezko's, lovely garden. Is it a vegatable garden, flowers, roses, poppies? Maybe she uses it to grow food for the people who live in her husbands community development projects?

Chipster   April 14th, 2008 12:45 pm ET

I believe it's unfair to judge her by one comment that could be interpreted in numerous ways. The publicity that one comment received was far more than it deserved. The fishbowl for political spouses can be pretty uncomfortable. Give her a chance. (BTW: I support Hillary)

EBC   April 14th, 2008 12:45 pm ET

I'll TAKE Michelle Obama over Sen. Clinton's lack of credibility, honesty and INTEGRITY any day.

YOU Clinton bashers are really amazing, you continue to focus on petty word games while missing the message in the whole speech. Grow up and get a life!!!

Geeez, is this the "Clinton Whiners Daycare"?

At the Faith-Based Forum last night on CNN, I was very dismayed that Sen. Clinton could NOT recall a time where she felt the "grace of God" in her life until the host gentleman sitting next to Campbell Brown reminder her about a story she herself had told HIM!!! What? YOU could NOT give one account? What about every day when YOU wake up in the morning? That's by the grace of our LORD and SAVIOR, what about when your child was born healthy and safe? That's the miracle of our LORD and SAVIOR, etc.? I mean good GOD…this as woman who clearly claims over and over "AS A CHILD, I REMEMBER…" and whom you all think is deeply rooted in her faith/ religion and yet could NOT readily state one account of God's graces in her life!!! Many American COULD easily account of various times they've felt the "Grace of GOD" in their lives, even my 4 year old grandson who tells me "Grandma, I'm glad Jesus is in my life everyday!!" This was the final straw for me, I DO NOT believe that Sen. Clinton is as rooted in her faith like she claims. She got very defensive when asked when was th LAST time SHE WAS IN CHURCH?? or When was the LAST time you shot a gun? She stated very bitterly that the question was "NOT RELEVANT…." and never did answer the question. That's just SAD beyond words..

If this clear sign is not a warning to you Clinton supporters, I don't know what is.

Obama's so inspirational. Clinton is a "buy one get one free" kind of deal.
But, I am not so sure that America is really ready for a Woman or a Black leader. On the other hand, John McCain is so weak.
Bring Al Gore back.
God bless America

MONICA   April 14th, 2008 12:44 pm ET

Can Barack also use speeches from films and movies and imply they are his own? YES HE CAN! Barack's speeches have noticably contained coined phrases from movies, like Robin Williams' Man of the Year

HH   April 14th, 2008 12:44 pm ET

I hope the democrats never win the white house again should they pick Clinton as the nominee, she will be the George McGovern and Walt Mondale of the party. With over 55 percent negative rating she does not stand a chance in hell to win.

Gore and Kerry had there elections stolen. IE Florida and Ohio. Thanks Ken Blackwell and Katherine Harris.

Brian of florida   April 14th, 2008 12:43 pm ET

SONIA   April 14th, 2008 12:43 pm ET

Can Barack claim to be sick of politician’s making false claims and promises, while making false claims and promises?
YES HE CAN! If Hilary Clinton is a typical Washington politician, why was he asking for her support, money, help, etc.?

Willis, Texas   April 14th, 2008 12:43 pm ET

IT IS AMAZING HOW PEOPLE ARE NEGATIVELY JUDGING MICHELE! HER WORDS WERE TAKEN OUT OF CONTEXT — INTENTIONALLY DONE SO BY THE MEDIA! THAT IS WHAT THE MEDIA DOES WHEN THEY ARE "MAKING" THE NEWS, RATHER THAN "REPORTING" THE NEWS.

MICHELE IS NOT A RACIST AND SHE IS PROUD OF HER COUNTRY FOR MANY REASONS. WHAT SHE WAS SAYING IS THAT SHE IS 40 YEARS OLD AND 20 YEARS OF HER LIFE HAS BEEN UNDER THE LEADERSHIP OF BUSH-CLINTON-CLINTON-BUSH-BUSH WHICH HAS RESULTED INTO WHERE WE ARE TODAY! I AM NOT PROUD OF OUR ECONOMIC POSITION EITHER!

THE OTHER 20 YEARS OF MICHELE'S LIFE WAS SPENT IN SCHOOL. AND WE ALL KNOW WHAT THAT IS LIKE!

SHE HAS BEEN LABELED A RACIST, BASED ON WHAT?
SHE HAS BEEN LABELED NON-PATRIOTIC, BASED ON WHAT?
ARE YOU PEOPLE SAYING THAT NO ONE CAN CRITICIZE THE U.S. — THAT IS SO HYPOCRITICAL — WE ALL DO IT, SO ADMIT IT!!!!!!!!

WHILE YOU ARE SITTING HER BASHING MICHELE AND BARACK, THE CLINTONS ARE STEALING THE U.S. BLIND. BILL CLINTON HAS SOLD AMERICAN JOBS AND MADE OVER $500 MILLION DOING IT! HE SET UP MOST OF THE MONEY TO GO INTO HIS CHARITY, "THE WILLIAM CLINTON FOUNDATION". HE CAN TAKE A TAX BREAK AS A DONATION TO A CHARITABLE ORGANIZATION! THEN, HE REPORTS $109 MILLION AS INCOME! IT IS ALL FUZZY MATH!!

WHAT KIND OF CHANGE***   April 14th, 2008 12:42 pm ET

Can Barack say he is a candidate for change while Hillary Clinton is a typical politician in 2008, but in 2005, ask her to campaign for him and help raise money for him?
YES HE CAN! Obama asked for Hillary’s support and got it. She was a helpful factor in his election in Illinois.

The list goes on and on.

I am proud to vote for Obama and he is the only one I believe who can stop the madness and heal this country.

"My Country! When right keep it right; when wrong, set it right!"
~ Carl Schurz

There is nothing wrong in talking about what we feel is wrong with our country, as long we don't just sit on our couches complaining about and do something more positively concrete……..Quit saying bad things about Michelle!

SHARON   April 14th, 2008 12:40 pm ET

The media and radio only plays portion of the tape and twisted the words around. If you have listen to the tape entirely you would have understand what he was saying. It is ovious some people don"t listen well or will saying anythng to discredited him because he's black. If he was white he would not be getting all this attention. NOW stop talking about all this HATE and let"s get together and talk about the problems we are having such as jobs lost, health care, education, gas pricing and so on.

Miss Belief   April 14th, 2008 12:40 pm ET

Michelle will be a great First Lady and I will whole heartedly welcome her, Barack and their two lovely girls as our First Family. They truely represent America.

The hateful comments that people post about candidates and their families are all rooted in unfounded fears and, oh yes, some bitterness as well.

carmen   April 14th, 2008 12:39 pm ET

She'll be herself and she'll be great. Now for those of you who have all this unsubstantiated hate coming out of your pores, do not be afraid. She'll take nothing from you. Some of you can claim to have been born proud, so right there is proof in your own mind that you are better. If honesty and truth hurt, vote for Hill and Bill.

VOTE**PRESENT**   April 14th, 2008 12:39 pm ET

Can Barack miss key votes in the Senate, while claiming to work hard for the American people?
YES HE CAN! Barack has refused to make a decision and instead voted “present” over 130 times. On issues like abortion, gun control and all the issues he claims are important to him, Obama refused to do anything but sit there.

Roy Arellano (San Antonio)   April 14th, 2008 12:39 pm ET

For all those who leave comments without doing the research and seeking the truth please stop making American's look like back-wood idiots!

If you are the type of person who believes the headline (hype) without taking the time to find the truth and read the whole statement a person makes and understand where they come from, then you are more a racist, hypocrite, or any other slander you wish to throw out.

CNN Please start filtering out the nonsense, ignorance and bigotry. Just because we all have the freedom of speach doesn't mean every person should utilize it (especially some of the folks who make posts here).

PS, I hope BO does challenge Colbert to a "grit-off" Can't anyone just have fun anymore?

According to his statement, that makes him the devils candidate.

Tony-Tx.

Wow, the views people have of Michelle is 50/50 with you guys. Love her or think she's an America-hating, racist. Quite different.

I wonder which one I'll believe? The one that's based on hate and fueled by ignorant banter from conservative radio and no personal responsibility to identify or research the truth… or the one from people who clearly know who Michelle is.

Michelle is a wonderful person, and it's a shame people judged her so quickly as they did with Rev. Wright. Open your mind and hearts to her, she's here to stay. I look forward to seeing her in the White House.

PROUD AMERICAN   April 14th, 2008 12:38 pm ET

I got news for all of you, none of these candidates can change Washington. The Kennedys, Kerrys, and all the others will still be there, doing what they do best, nothing!!!!!!! The president can effect certain things, but if it requires a bill, it will be so convoluted it will be almost unidentifiable as it was originaly intended. It will take a strong leader to really change Washington, not a greenhorn who will be used and abused.

HAPPY AMERICAN   April 14th, 2008 12:37 pm ET

YES HE CAN!
In Obama’s speech tradition, here’s a list of things he’s managed to accomplish. Yes, he can…
.
Can Barack lie to the American people and claim that he didn’t vote for the war?
.YES HE CAN! Obama wasn't elected into the Senate until 2005; the vote for the resolution for military action in Iraq was voted on in 2002. He never voted against the war and in fact, voted FOR funding and continuing the war once he was elected Senator.

Moni   April 14th, 2008 12:37 pm ET

I wonder why she didn't like the way the government was growing up in the 60s, I mean really Cindy McCain didn't have a problem neither should she right? Vietnam, that wasn't so bad. I mean the list goes on of how wonderful our past government officials have handled America in the eyes of the world. That's why they love us so, it's why we're in such great shape right now. We've always been fair and just. It doesn't matter what's happened to you growing up or right now get over it for goodness sake or at least don't speak how you feel. PC it up a bit, sugar coat it or all together lie so that we can swallow that pill better. They lie, we're used to that, it's comfortable, it's familiar. I mean seriously, we can't have our politicians and their spouses running around speaking the truth…it might hurt.

Would you have unwaivering, unqualified pride in your own child if they committed a violent crime? No, you would be disappointed and ashamed. But (I hope) you would still love them. It's no deadly sin to be disappointed in your country from time to time, and it doesn't mean you don't love it.

YOU NEED TO KNOW   April 14th, 2008 12:34 pm ET

What you are failing to realize is that Obama is fighting for the average American wheather you live in small town America or Big City. He wants to give tax breaks to those making less than 75k not the very wealthy like bush has. He wants to make sure your job where you make your salary stays in your town and does not get shipped off overseas somewhere and if it does then you'll really understand the "BITTER" part of knowing that Washington is looking out for you.

Hillary and Bill are looking out for themselves and that 109 million will triple if she gets to be president because all the Rich folks that has there hands on Hill and Bill will get paid and so will Hill and Bill.

this will be interesting.. I saw one article on her at a womans meeting recently.. she had poise and didnt act like a backwoods, false prophet, who tries to relate to people in a poor fashion. Like Hillary. Her whiskey drinking, gun shooting, church goer (but doesnt think its right to comment on the last time she shot a gun or went to church) yeah right! I go to church, I shoot guns and I am a woman… dont try and relate to me if you cannot be detailed enough in your claims. Hillary is a FAKE

Come on Michelle give it your best!

carlo   April 14th, 2008 12:32 pm ET

To all of the people bashing Michelle Obama, why don't you just admit that you really weren't going to vote for Barack anyway, and to avoid sounding like racist pigs, you look for any little excuse to give to justify your own prejudices. I'm from the South and the one thing I have to appreciate about the racists down here is that they are honest. Why don't some of you Obama haters try it? I'd certainly appreciate honest racists, thank you very much.

nancy   April 14th, 2008 12:32 pm ET

I cannot believe any show would offer her the airtime to further her racist agenda. And why on earth would Obama allow her out to speak in public nothing that comes out of her mouth is worth listening to.
She absolutely is a racist and I hope America is bright enough not to elect Obama it would be one of the worst things that could happen. However let me say I cannot imagine him winning over Mccain he is not only not experienced enought but too much of a baby to weather the fight.

Logic Magic   April 14th, 2008 12:31 pm ET

People are BITTER -> hence they cling on to guns and religion.

People are *NOT* intelligent -> So they will vote for Hillary.

God, I love the hypocrisy and elitism exhibited by the Abominations. I guess they will preach but won't practice it. So much for honesty, intelligence and "just words". Please try to make your points without trying to be negative of Hillary ,that is, if you can. Else please spare us your thoughts. There is no one honest in politics. so get off the "moral" high ground and holier-than-thou logic. Some of us are perhaps more educated than some of you. And we will vote for Hillary because we believe she is a better alternative unlike some of you who would be voting for Obama just out of pure hatred for Hillary. So, likewise back at you, please save us your speeches

tx   April 14th, 2008 12:31 pm ET

So when, Michelle said "For the first time in my life I am REALLY proud to be an American", does that mean, all this time she has been an American but not REALLY proud? This woman is a lawyer, shouldn't she know by now to say what she really means?
Let's see if CNN posts this!

Jessica, MI   April 14th, 2008 12:30 pm ET

It is so ludicrous to suggest that Michelle Obama is racist that I truly believe that anyone saying so on here is a) "trolling" to rile people up, or b) part of Hillary's campaign.

And those who call Michelle Obama "unamerican" have sadly forgotten what it truly means to be American.

Wolf   April 14th, 2008 12:30 pm ET

For those who feel that the Obama's are just the idea couple, I will only say that you have been living under a rock. She and Senator Obama are conceited. She's the first lady elect, why shouldn't she be on Colbert's show? Hillary's unpatriotic and anti-American remarks just proves that this race is over and Barack Obama has already won. It's time to throw Hillary in the dumpster where she belongs and move on. Barack is our man and he is our next president of the United States. Smoke that, Hillary trash!

Here's the deal: I'm married to a Black American woman, and she has not been to Princeton or graduated from law school (though I myself have done the latter). Yet, though lackin an Ivy League education, my wife has tact and empathy and, most importantly, good, common sense. My wife knows it is not only borish but also foolish to gratuitously insult folks with generalized mutterings of disloyalty to ones country and citizen kin. Michelle Obama, quite frankly, is more than a tad full of herself. And, alarmingly, has all the endearing earmarks of that dreadful Heinz woman (circa the last presidential election cycle).

I cannot believe how the press (and the Clintons) has been able to make such a flap about one thing a candidate says which has truth in it, and basically ignore total lies told by the other candidate. I would prefer having the person who really understands what is happening in this country to one who only speaks what she wants people to hear. Without a doubt, I would rather have Barack Obama dealing with other countries in our name than Hillary Clinton on any level. He is this country's chance to get it right with the rest of the world.

I think she is the better half - if she was running rather than the male version I would vote for her.

John Smith:: GET REAL. Wake Up and smell the coffee. Blind adulation, as you say, is harmful and it applies to you too.

Kim NYC,

Don't worry about Michelle's speaking skills. Just because she misspoke once does not mean she is not a good speaker.

Did anyone see her stumping for Sen. Obama just last week? She was good, especially since she had no one to back her up, not even to relieve some of the stress, she was alone and addressing a crowd of more than five thousand. I think you folks are underestimating her.

By the way for all of you who keep calling Michelle a racist ( for absolutely no rational reason ), my advice to you is please look in the mirror!

I agree with the above statement. We are our own worst enemies. We allow the media to make up our minds for us. Not me. Too old for that. My neck ached last night after all of the head bobbing going on during the forum.

You people need to go home and go to bed.

What a pack of self-righteous nuts!

I too am finally starting to be proud of this country. Now slam me and see what you get for it.

Go ahead and vote for the Clintons and you will still be unemployed and never get your house back. You also won't get any healthcare. It will somehow be washed away in the beaurocracy of Hillary's flip-flopping and serving special interests that screw over Americans even more.

I actually like hearing Michelle speak more than Barack. I can understand if some just prefer the Clintons but don't lie. Michelle is not an idiot. She is one of the brightest, educated women in our nation today who has had a lot of success.

You will soon have to get on board or suffer the consequences. With McCain your sons and daughters will continue to die in vain. With Hillary you wil
