Watch Obama's comments Monday.

PITTSBURGH, Pennsylvania (CNN) — Barack Obama furthered his recent criticisms of Hillary Clinton Monday by mocking the fact that she recently "threw back a shot and a beer" in front of the media.

After first saying too many candidates are only giving voters "rhetoric," the Illinois senator said, "They'll promise you anything. They'll even give you a long list of proposals. They'll even come around with TV crews in tow and throw back a shot and a beer."

The shot came Saturday at Bronko’s Restaurant in Crown Point, Indiana. With the national media in tow, Clinton made a stop there to drink a beer and speak with voters. After ordering her beer the bartender asked, “You want a shot with that Hillary?” After some deliberation, Clinton settled on a shot of Crown Royal, a Canadian whiskey.

But Obama is not totally in the clear himself when it comes to photo-ops at bars. The White House hopeful nursed a beer in front of cameras with Pennsylvania senator Bob Casey at a sports bar during his Pennsylvania bus tour on March 28. He has since mentioned that moment of drinking in front of audiences on the trail in the Keystone State.

Responding to Obama's comments, Clinton spokesman Phil Singer said, "With all due respect, this is the same politician who spent six days posing for clichéd camera shots that included bowling gutterballs, walking around a sports bar, feeding a baby cow, and buying a ham at the Philly market (albeit one that cost $99.99 a pound). Sen. Obama's speeches won’t hide his condescending views of Americans living in small towns.”

Clinton has been hitting Obama hard over his recent comments saying decades of lost jobs and unfulfilled promises from Washington have left some Pennsylvanians "bitter" and clinging "to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations."

On Sunday, Clinton called the comments "elitist, out of touch and frankly, patronizing," and added, "You know, the Democratic Party, to be very blunt about it, has been viewed as a party that didn't understand and respect the values and the way of life of so many of our fellow Americans."

Finally. Mr. Barack Obama is giving us a glimpse of the man he truly is. He's cocky, self-centered mean-spirited and could be dangerously sly. But we'll find that out too. Hopefully, before he gets into the White House. You folks out there. I'll have a bumper sticker that says "Don't blame me. I didn't vote for him!"

hain   April 14th, 2008 11:26 am ET

Obama has all quality of being a leader which US die not have for a long time. He is a charasmatic and above all very intellegent who knows what to be done with his silent and gentle dimenor. Since I saw this guy i could not find any one from all political people who we always meet and wach at TV. Clinton has not that qaulity. She looks like a trader who say anything to sell his cloth. She may be good in selling Beer and Candian wisky in the bar in her home town. Great Obama will be the perfect leader in 2009

Olivia   April 14th, 2008 11:26 am ET

HILLARY……….next time you decide to have a drink with the folks in PA or NC or IND…….have one for me too!

Cosmic Comedy Queen   April 14th, 2008 11:25 am ET

I think it takes courage to have a shot in front of the world.

Obama, what's your shot other than taking pot shots? None, cause you are a shallow man who thnks he's better than the people who pay your salary. Thank God that blogger got in the San Francisco fundraiser. It shows your true elitist don't care about american people stance.

Jimmy Mack   April 14th, 2008 11:25 am ET

Go Obama. Most of the Operation Chaos members sit at home on the computor and collect welfare.

juan   April 14th, 2008 11:24 am ET

The only thing that is out of control is all the presumptions and unfounded accusations by all these bloggers.

Some of you act like you personally know the candidates which you don't. Relying on the media to give you a fair and unbiased view of them is dangerous.

Case in point; I think Al Sharpton is one of the most intelligent and brilliant minds in America today but most Americans only laugh at him and role their eyes. Why? Because of the way the media has portrayed him.

Do you think it is not deliberate the way the media has treated Obama with so much TLC at first and now jumps up and down on the Wright issue and Canada and now the bitter controversy like there's no tomorrow. And some of you follow the media like poor lost sheep.

You might be able to say the same for Hillary except that she has made her own history with her false words and flip-flop actions that can't be misinterpreted.

I have yet to hear anyone prove that Obama ever lied about anything yet some of you bloggers call him a liar. Hillbilly is the liar and a proven one.

wally   April 14th, 2008 11:24 am ET

I would want two shots and a pitcher of beer if I were spending so much money on a campaigning that's bound to lose !

norb   April 14th, 2008 11:24 am ET

What's wrong with having a shot and a beer? John McCain not only has interest in his wifes beer distributorship, he also is soon to become one of it's truck driver's. This one's for you John.

GOD   April 14th, 2008 11:24 am ET

Jamaal Kansas   April 14th, 2008 11:24 am ET

Keep Hitting her Obama she want to make a big deal out of something that everyone knows what you where saying because they actually feel that way. Barack I know you took the high road and not blast her about her Bosnia Lie or Her Penn lies or her Husband being for Columbia trade but you aren't yeah right Hilary we see right through you

KiloWhiskey - Denver   April 14th, 2008 11:23 am ET

I think HRC's campaign people have finally organized responses to this and other blog sites. For a while it was only individual hate mail back and forth….now it appears a lot more organized.

CNN (and others) will need to monitor this more than they already are.

Dave Froyalde/Washington   April 14th, 2008 11:23 am ET

I know by now, the supporters of Senator Obama will continue to support him regardless of his missteps including the latest one at the San Francisco fundraiser. However, I hope you folks reconsider your support. Senator Obama can not win the general elections. Senator Clinton is the only one who can beat Senator McCain. How can Senator bring change to Washington when all his top advisers and political strategist are all Washington insiders. Folks Senator Obama is just using change as a campaiogn slogan. Don't be fooled by it. Senator Obama is using you all.

Desiree   April 14th, 2008 11:23 am ET

Obama just does not get it, it's not the bitter part, it's the clinging to guns and religion etc part. It is as if he's looking down on small towns that he's having trouble connecting to and calling them gun toting, God loving signle minded bigots. Now he can attack Sen Clinton all he wants to try to take the media off him but he still needs to explain himself. People do not turn to God because they're bitter, they embrace the message and word of Christ and their religion, was he bitter when he decided to join his church?

Michelle in Denver, CO   April 14th, 2008 11:23 am ET

I'm really hoping Obama starts taking the high road again. I hate to see him stoop to the Clinton level. But, you have to think that all her negativity and attacks are starting to take a toll. It would be hard not to defend oneself effectively with all that mudslinging she's doing.

Gerald F.   April 14th, 2008 11:22 am ET

Obama is sounding more like he is part of a one man club called: Double Standards Only Apply To Others and NOt Me. Only He can be viewed with a drink among the crowd? And since when is a drink offered considered a huge undermining scheme that represents NAFTA? Sorry, but the man is starting to sound more like a whiner than winner. He should know by now that Senator Clinton WILL fight for her beliefs. Why shouldn't she? Are only the "boys" allowed to play in this sandbox?

alice2   April 14th, 2008 11:22 am ET

Hillary desperate to fit in and gain votes will do anything, throw back shots of canadian whiskey followed by beer, stories of her hunting, and on & on. She is getting SO STALE, I can barely listen to her. I have noticed she is looking quite tired out and even puffeyness under her eyes, and more pronounced lines on her face. I don't think she would be up to any phone calls at 3:00 AM. She is in a DESPERATE attempt to win at any and all costs.

rich   April 14th, 2008 11:22 am ET

Hillary has been raising my blood pressure with her lied for weeks. The fact that Obama has kept his cool this long is a testament to his character and close supporters. He needs to dig deep now to stop the hurt from coming out in these angry remarks. He is still so much better a person than Hillary, in my book.

LA-Ann Arbor   April 14th, 2008 11:22 am ET

This candidate wants to talk about substance abuse? Really?

Vote Hillary - Obama is a Lier   April 14th, 2008 11:22 am ET

Not voting for Obama

Finally his true colors are coming out. He's always trying to cut down Hillary to hide his lies!! ugh!!! He needs to get a grip and just drop out! of the race!!

Larry Kegel   April 14th, 2008 11:21 am ET

It's funny when Hillary says anything bad they play it over and over aggain all day… But let Obama say something… You don't hear about it again… I guess Obama can say anything he wants but Hillary can't… If Obama says something bad… They play back something that Hillary says…

aid   April 14th, 2008 11:21 am ET

Which one is worse– completely made up stories or telling it like it is? He didn't lie, that is the truth. Painful maybe, but true nevertheless.

Uncle Sam   April 14th, 2008 11:21 am ET

Supporters of Sen. Obama are doing him a disservice by shielding him from continued missteps that will inevitably doom his presidential bid. Although gifted, Mr. Obam is immature, personally and politically, and his intellectual arrogance prevents him from acknowledging his weaknesses and thus learning from them.

growupamerica   April 14th, 2008 11:19 am ET

Obama did not say anything that was soooo insulting. the only reason people even think he did is because Hillary said so….these same 'followers' of Hillary believe everything she says without doubt. Even when she LIES, she says she misspoke and people accept that…that is real sad. It's a shame that she can just laugh off a lie like she was some child caught with her hand in the cookie jar. She has lied, her husband has lied…that is how they get thing …..very unethical.

And wasnt she the one that insulted Mississippi? Talk about elitist……..Obama came from a humble background…Hillary? Silver spoon.

Stop being so nasty America….look at the facts….. do you try to instill the truth in your children….lying is bad..remember? But yet, we let HIllary get away with it…and good ole Bill….

Octavio   April 14th, 2008 11:19 am ET

Obama is falling into the same traps as past qualified candidates! Say it ain't so Mr. Obama. Hypocracy is going to give Hillary a fighting chance.

jsk   April 14th, 2008 11:19 am ET

Wow this is so petty it makes me bitter. I guess I gotta go to church with a gun now and hate on immigrants.

If Obama gets elected president, the only change that will occur is that we will have a black elitist instead of a white one.

Becky   April 14th, 2008 11:19 am ET

Did you see the forum last night? Obama as much as omitted that he joined a church because he realized it was politically expedient. I'm not religious either, but I wish he would stop pretending to be something he's not. The Republicans are going to use all of this against him if he gets the nomination. There are no surprises with Hillary. She stacks up so much better against McCain.

Elaine   April 14th, 2008 11:19 am ET

The reason Hillary and Obomba's views are so alike is that everytime Hillary comes out with a plan for anything, all he can say is "Me Too".

Millie Bea   April 14th, 2008 11:19 am ET

Hillary is like a trained seal- she will do anything to get the fish.

Sara, Houston   April 14th, 2008 11:18 am ET

Hypocritical, no?

I find it funny how many voters say they would choose Senator Obama to sit down and drink a beer with over Senator Clinton when it's Mr. Obama criticizing Hillary for taking a shot.

Interesting. The whiskey may be bitter in Hillary's mouth, but at least it's not her view on the hard-working American people…like Barack's.

Ohio Citizen   April 14th, 2008 11:18 am ET

That Crown Royal and beer is going to depress her just enough to create the next story.
The Crying Game part III. She will be shedding tears just in time for the primary next week. You can count on it.
"This is soooo hard,. I just want the best for you. Obama is picking on me."
Yes She Will.

Obama = Honest, open and outfront. He speaks the truth, hard for people to handle, but he said he would.

When I talk to people here in North Carolina, they are so stupid about this whole thing. It's blown up to be more than it really is.
If people are happy with current America, then by all means vote McCain, but if you are BITTER then embrace change for God sake!

BILLARY IN SCANDAL   April 14th, 2008 11:15 am ET

Hillary should take a shot of Canadian whiskey and have a beer. I would even buy her Iranian whiskey if there was such a thing…ANYTHING to get her to loosen up and tell the truth!!

Hopefully it would work like truth serum.

By the way, I am bitter, my neighbors, my mother and other family are bitter over the factories that have shut down here in KY. These people lost their jobs, but they also lost 20 years of pensions and benefits in the workforce to trade deals such as NAFTA, CAFTA.

Crane, and Fruit of the Loom are just a few factories that roll off the tongue as having closed and laid off thousands. Palm Beach too!!

don kraus   April 14th, 2008 11:15 am ET

What I wouldn't give for some real talk about real issues along this
Camp-Pain Trail! As an Obama supporter, I wish he'd simply ignore Hillary's idiotic photo-ops and start focusing on how McCain is benefiting from all the Dem-squabbling. As a Clinton-opposer, I wish she'd stop trying to make politicians look like "reg'lar folks" and start uttering some truth! I don't want her as a candidate, but she could be a useful member of the Democratic Party if she'd focus on unification instead of inanity!

MJAMES   April 14th, 2008 11:15 am ET

Hillary Clinton is pure evil and I wish she would just go away. Do you really think if BO has the most pledged delegates and popular vote they will take it away from him? People would riot in the streets. It is sad that her campaign operates consistantly below the belt.

We in the small towns of the Midwest can understand why you'd be bitter, and desperately cling to your talent of uttering meaningless "words", but it isn't becoming. And comparing Hillary to Annie Oakley in a duck blind was brilliant–James Carville couldn't have come up with a better way of making her a folk hero and beloved by hunters of all stripes if he tried.

Inês F   April 14th, 2008 11:08 am ET

Obama said plenty of people feel bitter. Won't somebody explain to me why that seems to offend? As far as I know there's no law against it and people do have plenty of reasons to feel bitter, not only in America but all over the world. Things aren't easy these days, and people struggle to make ends meet, to keep or get a job. Elder people worry if they'll have enough money to support them through a longer life expectancy.

People do feel bitter, and that's an incentive for people to try and get things to change. There is nothing wrong with being bitter unless people turn to guns or extremist religions or anger towards minorities. That has happened in other countries, the most notorious being what happened in Hitler's Germany and which ultimately led to the Holocaust.

Obama was pointing the dangers of that happening and they're real. Peope exist who take that turn. Or don't americans read their own newspapers?!

I am going to start calling all of my friends who grew up in single parent households and were not that well off, "elitists". Polo anyone?

Firing back   April 14th, 2008 11:06 am ET

Go Obama,
CNN, what about his speach today attacking Hillary on NAFTA, Colombia and the new scandal of China trade…
I will double my contribution to Obama campaign today… I used to pay 50$ every month but today it will be 100$…Yes you need to fight back Obama.

Fla Sam   April 14th, 2008 11:06 am ET

I am glad to see Obama fighting back! What a shame that Hillary has nothing positive to say to win votes, so instead she has pulled out the Republican play book to scare people away from Obama. All she has done over the last several months is run a negative campaign against Obama in hopes of somehow winning the nomination through cheap shots. I hope the voters in Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and Indiana see through this and vote for Obama.

Andrew   April 14th, 2008 11:06 am ET

Do any of you have a clue what type of world we live in? Barak Obama has NO experience in military or world issues. He lives in a fantasy land where you can just sit down and talk with your enemies and they'll just see your way of thinking and work towards peace. I'm not saying McCain is a godsend, far from it, Washington has a ton of problems and both parties are to blame, but if you turn over this Country to Obama, you'll get a well intentioned guy who is naive as it comes about the way the world actually works.

Jonathan   April 14th, 2008 11:06 am ET

It's odd how it's not only ok but actually funny for Obama to mock Hillary when she would be crucified for the exact same thing.

nina   April 14th, 2008 11:06 am ET

Shame on you Obama, you don't even have the descency to APOLIGIZE not regret to the poeple you insulted I thought you were a uniter when you say THEM, you categorize and you divide. Once again, you are blaming Hillary and McCain for your mistake, men up Obama, take responsability for your mistake.

Porter   April 14th, 2008 11:06 am ET

At least Obama's not blowing lines of coke anymore.

james   April 14th, 2008 11:06 am ET

I've never voted Republican in my life, but I'm starting to think McCain is the only straight-forward honest person in this race.

FLA   April 14th, 2008 11:05 am ET

You Mr. Obama are the biggest rhetoric giver. You promise everything and have no solution to anything.

chris in Vegas   April 14th, 2008 11:05 am ET

i cant wait for this year to end, all of these politicians with their constant nagging and back and forth barbs. not to mention all of the online blogs with people fighting and arguing over politicians we dont even know personally, like we go out and play golf with them on weekends and defend them in here. this whole process has left me "disenfranchised" and "bitter"! I think I may just go ahead and skip voting this year, atleast then the next 4yrs "I" cant complain because i didnt vote. I sure hope this last past year was worth it to everybody, hope nobody got medical issues over all this hoopla political b.s. Enjoy the rest of 2008, I know im gonna!!

jacmac   April 14th, 2008 11:05 am ET

Obama is such a hypocrit! Stop acting like you are so much better then others! Can't wait to hear the next speech explaining why he did not mean what he said.
Obama is and arrogant Harvard elitist snob.

Judy   April 14th, 2008 11:05 am ET

You're such a fake, pompous jerk obama. Try again with something REAL to criticize her.

Chipster   April 14th, 2008 11:04 am ET

Obama is not so attractive when his true personality slips through. Wow and meoooow. Catty, petty, and hypocritical all at the same time. Multi-tasking isn't always a good idea

Sharbob   April 14th, 2008 11:04 am ET

This is getting ridiculous. This prolonged race only helps the party if the candidates can exercise some measure of control. So what if Hillary drinks a beer? This is childish. We ought not to be picking at each other and poking fun. This election is a serious matter and every vote must count!

SOHAN   April 14th, 2008 11:04 am ET

seeing the dark side of obama now some want to take back your vote too later now…cnn is the cover-up story teller news net work i ever seen.

clinton-mccain alway the way

wiscon   April 14th, 2008 11:04 am ET

I'm glad Clinton is still in it also. Keep on fighting democrats.

Ron   April 14th, 2008 11:04 am ET

I am sick and tired of democrats making excuses for both their nominees. I cannot believe you bunch of morons would vote for either of these candidates. Neither have the experience, judgement, or wisdom to be president. They are both really scarry individuals whose plans will wreak havoc on the country and the world.

It is important for independents like myself to see both these candidates and based on what I have observed and although I do not want to I will vote for John McCain. While I may disagree on some of his stances on the issues, I believe he is honorable and trustworthy–attributes that neither of the two idiots have on the democratic side.

frank   April 14th, 2008 11:04 am ET

Obama is trying everything to win. But more and more is revealed that he is not what he say he is. He just can not win the General Election. The big problem with him is that if he was the president, he would do what is totally different from what he have promised during the campaign. He will not bring the change you need.

john   April 14th, 2008 11:03 am ET

I love this campaign. I love the fact that the two unqualified Demarcates are taking shots at each other and it is taking down their entire party. This squabbling proves that the Democrats have still not grown up.
McCain is the only qualified candidate.

Mandi from Maine   April 14th, 2008 11:03 am ET

You're living in La La Land if you think Hillary Clinton is just like you! Hopefully, the people of Pennsylvania have higher expectations for themselves.

mike   April 14th, 2008 11:03 am ET

so what. They are out on the road all day every day and if you go into a restaurant or a bar to visit with the people why isn't it ok for them to have a drink and something to eat; especially since they are not driving. Why is it okay for Obama to visit a bowling alley and Bowl, or visit a deli and eat a sandwich. I saw the clip of Hillary in that bar and the bartender said to her "have a shot" and she was hesitant at first and he said "come on have a shot, want something sweet?" and she said "no nothing sweet" and he said how about crown royal and she said ok. What's wrong with that. I drink, you drink and Hillary had a shot and a beer. Wooooo bad. Obama will say anything to take the heat off his tastless remarks about the hard working people of PA.

Fav   April 14th, 2008 11:03 am ET

CNN for once please post my comment!!

You are utterly pathetic Obama! You have no rhetoric left to get back at Clinton for her criticism of the stupid things you've been saying lately!
So you stoop this low to get back at her??

You know, I'm not surprised!

HILLARY 08 & 12

Karen   April 14th, 2008 11:03 am ET

Yeah, Senator Obama….these politicians. They'll even go bowling to get your vote!!!

P Walters   April 14th, 2008 11:03 am ET

Mock, indeed! A new low for Sen. Obama! This is the worst kind of verbal fighting because it is not only sarcastic but also childish… Is Sen. Obama reverting to more and more pre-pubescent behavior??

Alex in San Antonio   April 14th, 2008 11:02 am ET

How can the one candidate who's worth less than $100 million dollars be called an elitist and out of touch. Obama is bar far the most intelligent candidate I've ever seen in my lifetime and in touch with common folks. Just because he is articulate doesn't make him an elitist. THIS JUST IN…Americans are bitter and angry.

Seems like all the comments from women about how they hate Obama has more to do with the desperation that the first viable female presidential candidate is falling apart and the most intelligent candidate is picking up momentum and will win in November.

Margo   April 14th, 2008 11:02 am ET

Im just a typical white woman who watched the debate on religion and politics. As aways Hillary was on first. That's because Obama feeds off of her comments…cant you see that! Then he goes and bashes Hillary about her views. This man is off the wall. I never heard one straight ans from him, not one! …………….HILLARY 08

bizbizbiz   April 14th, 2008 11:02 am ET

wow. he's lost it.

prakash chand   April 14th, 2008 11:02 am ET

Dont take the subject Mr Obama ,you are trying to divide america and democratic party, how you can talk about faith when your pastor is racist and you call americans bitter.

Time to step down.

Jim   April 14th, 2008 11:02 am ET

Obama has been out drinking with the media. If Hillary does it, it's not cool? C'mon Obama grow-up!
Also, for someone who values the power of words so much, Obama seems to be explaining his comments a lot. Perhaps words don't mean much to Obama himself!

Frank, Missouri   April 14th, 2008 11:02 am ET

Hillary Clinton had that shot (of whiskey) so that she can 'remember' another sniper story later !

Jeshi   April 14th, 2008 11:02 am ET

The Jeremiah in this dude had to come out sooner or later. The real question we need to ask ourselves is…how much jeremiah is left in him?The only hope for this county is Hillary

spuhan   April 14th, 2008 11:01 am ET

Obama wins the democratic nomination but he wont beat Mccain come November. He can put down Hillary all he wants he wont win in November thats a given . Lacks experience. Mcain will eat him alive on issues. So keep voting for him Dems exactly what he republicans want. I am going to sit this one out.

Obamista NYC   April 14th, 2008 11:01 am ET

Dear Senator Obama:

Why don't you just tear Hillary apart? I think it's time to just throw in the kitchen sink and just tell it like it is.

Americans who support this pathological liar are just so disgusting and dead asleep. You need to just rip her apart!

Sincerely,

Obamamista NYC

DS for real issues   April 14th, 2008 11:01 am ET

yeah! barack, thats a real issue?! such fluff! GO HILLARY!

John   April 14th, 2008 11:00 am ET

You can tell he is losing support when he attacks Hillary for drinking. And by the way, Obama has made no plans, and gave no details about what he would do.

Giorge   April 14th, 2008 11:00 am ET

Senator Clinton's attitude of do and say any thing to win and desperation politics to win at any cost, will cost the Democrats in November. She knows she will never win the primaries, why is she determined to destroy the party and Senetor Obama. Please stop the dirty politics.

Enrique, Chicago   April 14th, 2008 11:00 am ET

Her sense of entitlement to the presidency because of her last name makes Hillary Clinton the ultimate elitist. Her blatant lies regarding her experience in Bosnia is beyond condescending. Hillary is foolish to think that we wouldn't see this.

james   April 14th, 2008 11:00 am ET

I find it quite hillarious that hillary would take a page out of Michael Deaver's, er, Reagan's playbook. She and her advisors feel the need to have a beer (and a shot) just in order to appear like a regular person. Doesn't anyone else think it's sad that a politician of her ilk has to show us, try and prove to us, that they're regular people? So depressing…

t-bone   April 14th, 2008 11:00 am ET

Last time I checked, $109 million dollars probably qualifies you as elitist.

Maybe not in fantasy Hillary world but out in the real world where I'm living check-to-check it does.

End-the-Yap!

Mike   April 14th, 2008 10:59 am ET

Is that why Hillary is such a two faced flip floping liar ?? Is she too drunk to tell the truth ??

SDunn   April 14th, 2008 10:59 am ET

Why should he apologize! He told the truth! When will Hillary apologize for lying to the American people on many occasions??? When is she going to apologize to the lies she told in Ohio for misleading the people that she's always being against NAFTA when she promoted on more than one occasing!!???? She'll never apologize because that's the type of person she is just like Bush will never apologize for what he put this country through.

American   April 14th, 2008 10:59 am ET

hahahah~~that was pretty funny, why is everybody taking this so seriously??? It was obviously a joke~~I guess it's just the long primary~~but this mud sling was is got to stop….

j williamson   April 14th, 2008 10:59 am ET

Get real Barack – who wouldn't need a shot and a beer with you as a political opponent? Methinks you're trying to make the "bitter" controversy go away with silly observations such as this.

Fred   April 14th, 2008 10:59 am ET

The bartender offered her the drink, for goodness sake. She was being polite. End of story.

Elisabeth   April 14th, 2008 10:59 am ET

This again shown that Hillary is a woman of the people. Obama is a sniper who should take care. There is a risk that he might be shooting his own foot.

Chuck   April 14th, 2008 10:59 am ET

This election is is getting dragged threw the mire, it's time for a change. the Dems need to stop the infighting, or watch as they hand the white house back to the republicans on a silver platter, and 4 more years of failed politics. I don't know about you, but i can not afford it.. People need to think.

Kelly, NY   April 14th, 2008 10:58 am ET

Hillary is a wolf in sheep's clothing. Shes doing anything and everything in her deep bag of tricks to win votes when she should be stepping aside for the greater cause – Obama. McCain is a snake but Hillary wont beat him. Obama is that only choice for change and for the future of this country.

mike   April 14th, 2008 10:58 am ET

So now do people see who he is? Hypocritical, arrogant and ready to leap over anybody to get what he wants. I think the more scrutiny Obama gets, the more we'll see that he's no saint. He's starting to look like someone's who is about to have the nomination taken away from him and he won't be able to blame anybody but himself. His lame attempt at "having a few beers" with the poor middle American should be the real joke.

Alonzo Demetrius   April 14th, 2008 10:58 am ET

…just another nasty crack the elitist, devisive Obama will try to apologize for tomorrow.

dee   April 14th, 2008 10:58 am ET

Please CNN tell us more about this man. This is a vote for the President of the U.S. It is not a popularity contest. You are not being fair to your watchers by showing only one side of him and dumping on the other candidates. This is scary…lying because you don't remember the details of something that happened long ago is certainly different from the Rev. Wright episode and the bitter episodes. Obama's character is exposed in the latter. What kind of president do we want?

SayNoToHillaryBillaryCheslaryClintrous   April 14th, 2008 10:58 am ET

This woman need to get a life. We are sick of her stupid politics she is trying to decive the pennsilvania people like she did in Ohio. I just hope the pennsilvanian people will not fall for it. Think about getting another Bush & Clinton Admistration what a disuster it will be I pray to God if would not happen. I was supprised when hillary was asked if God wants her to be a president. She could not answer it , that is because God does not want her to be a president and she will never be a president.

sprkl12000   April 14th, 2008 10:58 am ET

I'd prefer it if neither candidate was seen taking a shot or drinking anything for that matter..we already have one recovering alcoholic in office now and you see how that fared the country…plus it doesn't make either of them look like a "regular" joe..looks like what it is..a publicity stunt….what great role models!!!!

Fed Up - Pa   April 14th, 2008 10:57 am ET

Hil-LIE-ry is a LIAR! Wake up America!
She will lie to you like she did to the people in Ohio! They feelin pretty silly right now voting for someone who flat out lied to them!
Obama did not lie he told the truth about jobs being shipped overseas! HELLO – did yall hear that Bill got $800,000.00 for a speech in 2005 in support of free trade with Columbia! WAKE UP!!
Obama is fighting to keep jobs here and bring back the jobs to the small towns – that's pretty Obvious! Hillary will spin a vowel if she thought it could damage others and get her votes! To speak the truth is not talking down! or being condescending!

teresa from Canada   April 14th, 2008 10:57 am ET

Obama – can't handle the heat from Hillary – the Republicans would eat him alive in November.
Democrats – Hillary is your only shot.
Obama sounds like a whinny cry baby.

Mike   April 14th, 2008 10:57 am ET

So now she's going after the alcohol drinker vote? Anyone who thinks that her stunt is anything more than that, a stunt, is fooled by her devilishly good looks and girl next door demeanor. Of course I'm being sarcastic.
I'd only believe what Hillary says is her mouth is completely closed.

melikeyhill   April 14th, 2008 10:57 am ET

hillary is getting help from republicans to try to bash obama, it makes me wonder why, they are helping her because they are scared of obama, the energy, excitement money and new voters he generates!!! super delegates will never make hillary the nominee, she has sold out the party, by bein in bed with republicans!!!

Jarrod   April 14th, 2008 10:57 am ET

Bush did not talk down to you nuts but he sure did screw you good and you deserve every bit of it and Billary is no different. Wow most people are really stupid, I never would have believed back in 1983 that this country would have regressed back to the dark ages in 2000-2008. All people with good hearts should be outraged.

Roxanne NY   April 14th, 2008 10:57 am ET

No apology yet from this man for insulting small town America to his cronies when he thought no one was looking and he saunders around with his nose in the air and his acquired accent as if people won't notice.

This man is so full of it. I'm glad that Hillary stayed in the race. The mask has finally come off of him and he is ugly behind it.

Pennsylvania, send this man a message on 4/22/08, march to the polls and demand and apology! After what he said you deserve it!

Bonnie   April 14th, 2008 10:56 am ET

Yup, she's just like you. Except for that little thing about the $110 million.

yoshi927   April 14th, 2008 10:56 am ET

Hmm. Well, I can't say I like this, even as an Obama supporter. But, in his defense, it's no more pointless than several of the things he's been called out on. (I particularly loved the part where they were saying he couldn't be President because of his middle name)

The Big Sandwich   April 14th, 2008 10:56 am ET

And once again, this has what to do with any of the issues we face as a nation?

Walt, Belton,TX   April 14th, 2008 10:55 am ET

I don't think these two candidates realize how ridiculous they look and act. We're trying to elect the most mature, dependable, smartest adult to the highest office in the land, and they act like spoiled brats. They bring nothing new to the table except shame!

Nabeel   April 14th, 2008 10:55 am ET

Dude, really…who cares?…She took a shot of whiskey and he drank a beer…big deal…

Alice   April 14th, 2008 10:55 am ET

"The reason (George H. W. Bush's tactic) works so well now is that you have all these economically insecure white people who are scared to death," Pres. Bill Clinton was quoted saying by the Los Angeles Times in September 1991.
NOW WhAT DOES HILLIARY HAVE TO SAY ABOUT THAT

she'd probably say "change you can xerox" LOL

Rosemary Storaska   April 14th, 2008 10:55 am ET

Did we not see Obama with a BEER recently? OBAMA is getting so picky on the negatives that I do believe he fears LOSS of it all!

Mark Cary, NC   April 14th, 2008 10:55 am ET

Someone take away his shovel before he digs his hole any deeper. What is going on with Obama? This whole bitter thing went from discovered, to defense, to apology, to attack, to pander. I am so happy I still get to cast my vote in this primary.

AJ, IL   April 14th, 2008 10:55 am ET

Hillary only did this "beer and shot" as a political photo op. to try to convey the idea that is she is "one of the boys" in Republican-area of Pennslyvania.

Obama doesn't need to point this out. He needs to draw contrast between Hillary's ascersion that he is an elitist. Obama and his surrogates need to play up Obama's childhood growing up in poor international communities as well as when his mother was on food stamps. They should be drawing this contrast between Hillary's childhood Scranton, PA years when she was spending summer getaways at the family lake cottage back in the 1950s.

Ted Stidham   April 14th, 2008 10:55 am ET

How about the fact of Obama smoking like a freight train .This guy is pathetic again he lives in a double standard world .Its ok for him to do anything he wants and the news media has let him gotten by with it .

NG in DC   April 14th, 2008 10:55 am ET

MC   April 14th, 2008 10:54 am ET

Thank you for finally calling out Obama for being a hypocrite.

pdskee   April 14th, 2008 10:54 am ET

The Obama gaffe in SF last week seems to have Hillary trying even harder to appear blue collar – now we see her doing shots and a beer in a bar – not a great message when a drunk driver kills somebody every 45 minutes in America. It does clearly illustrate the American love for the legal but deadly drug alcohol – and politicians willingness to display drug consumption as a political plus. Would Hillary take toke off a joint at a rock concert? Though a far safer drug than alcohol, we are not that politically advanced, are we?

Hillary fan   April 14th, 2008 10:54 am ET

A shot and a beer?! For me, that's just one more reason to vote for Hillary!
I'd have a beer (and a shot) with her any day!

Hillary 08

Marie   April 14th, 2008 10:54 am ET

Hillary has ventured past the point of 'annoying'. I was weary of her negative 'tenacious' campaigning before she even began. Just can't imagine this country recovering under her self-serving, argumentative rule.

OBAMA '08′

Steve   April 14th, 2008 10:53 am ET

Good job Dems…….These two are pathetic. If any of you would have done some research into the candidates instead of treating this nomination process like a highschool popularity contest, you could have had a great nominee already (e.g. Richardson, Biden, Dodd…to name a few)

Alice   April 14th, 2008 10:53 am ET

what's so odd about Obama drinking a beer? you think he never had beer before?

hardly the same as drinking A SHOT AND A BEER. i wonder how many tmes Hillary's done that…

Mike in Madison   April 14th, 2008 10:53 am ET

Sigh…Is this what it is going boil down to? Having a drink? No jobs, mortgage woes, ridiculous fuel costs, budget shortfalls and this guy want to take jabs at his opponent for drinking? C'mon guys, work on fixing the mess our country is in and stop the childish bickering already. All I hear any more is talk…it is time to back those (hollow?) words up with action.

It is looking more and more like McCain is truly the better choice if the Dems don't get their act together.

Harvey in Va   April 14th, 2008 10:52 am ET

Obama is a hyporcritc what take a news crew along and serve hambugers in a dinner, so perfectly stacked like a commerical. Then lets not forget his bowling escapade…..

So Hillary gets down with the public AT LEAST THEY WERE NOT BITTER …………. Hillary 08 is the only way

Danny   April 14th, 2008 10:52 am ET

"The reason (George H. W. Bush's tactic) works so well now is that you have all these economically insecure white people who are scared to death," ~Bill Clinton

McCain will never win this election. He is a small man who doesn't know what he's talking about. He hates to be criticized. He doesn't read the prompts very well, and is not articulate. I hate the fact that he is trying to ride on Obama's back to popularity. He will never be popular, because he has no substance. John will be footnote in our American history books.

He's a campaign coward, and the only time he comes out to respond is when he smells blood. There is no blood here, John. You and your other vultures can continue talking about GW's war.

Obama 08

kitchingd   April 14th, 2008 10:52 am ET

Obama is no elitist. When someone tells the truth they are pounced on. Todd had people going around to these small towns and asking how the remarks sounded to them. Almost all said Obama was right on about the "bitterness" that working folks felt. Only 1 in 10 thought his statement was "elitist". Most said it is about time a Presidential candidate stood up and told the truth. I believe now that Obama will win the state because of his understanding of how people fell about a government that has done nothing to help them. THE BLOWBACK WILL DESTROY HILLARY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

me   April 14th, 2008 10:52 am ET

i havent heard him say as much to mccain as he has said to hillary. i think he still has his priorities mixed but i'm sure that a comment from the early 90's will be in his arsonal soon. since his whole campaign is running on steam from everyone elses past.

Michael   April 14th, 2008 10:52 am ET

I think Obama has lost a lot of his credibility when it comes to talking about playing politics. You just mentioned one thing, him mocking Clinton for having a shot when he does the same thing. He talks about how Clinton supports trade deals, but send a surragate to Canada to tell them one thing then tells the people of Ohio another. He talks about the people of PA one way in San Fran then tells them something else to their faces.

This man is POLITICS AS USUAL and it is that time of the year when the rhetoric keeps coming and coming and coming.

We need someone who has been working for American working families for years. And that is Hillary Clinton.

CHERYL   April 14th, 2008 10:52 am ET

I THINK HILLARY AND HER SUPPORTS NEED TO JUST KEEP THEIR MOUTHS SHUT, AFTER HER TAXES WENT PUBLIC AND AFTER THE SNIPPER FIRE THING. THEY ARE VERY LUCKY OBAMA DIDN'T RIP HER APART WITH THAT, AND YES PEOPLE ARE BITTER THIS WAR AND THE ECONOMY HAVE PEOPLE VERY BITTER. THAT IS WHY SHE WILL NOT GET THE NOMINATION SHE IS JUST LIKE THE REPUBLICANS OUT OF TOUCH WITH EVERYTHING WHAT IS WRONG WITH HER SHE NEEDS TO WAKE UP A LOOK AT WHAT IS GOING ON AROUND HER

Peter   April 14th, 2008 10:52 am ET

Is that all you got, Barry?!

astein1   April 14th, 2008 10:52 am ET

I guess I'm in a minority that doesn't see the term "elite" as an insult. If I'm sick, I want an elite doctor. If I'm investing my money, I want an elite broker. And if I'm in trouble with the law, I want an elite lawyer. Why is it that only in politics is it a bad thing to be elite. Look what happened the last 7 years when the leader in charge was not elite. He was an "average Joe" and where did that get us?

craig   April 14th, 2008 10:51 am ET

Just look at what Hillary is doing…. She's making Obama's point…. He basically said that people will cling to issues like guns and religion when they don't feel that voting on economic issues will make any difference. And now Hillary hoping voters in PA will do exactly that… turning peoples attention toward the second amendment? The second amendment is not an issue and isn't going anywhere… she brings this argument just after they were found to be making $800,000 from pushing the Columbia Trade Deal? Sure she said she is against it, but Her joint account with her husband will still benefit. She's hoping to distract us "small town" folks just long enough to eek out a win. She's a fighter alright.. like a pitbull with the taste of blood in her mouth. Diversion it's what the Clinton's have always been good at.

For Obama   April 14th, 2008 10:50 am ET

I am sure any canidate for President has had beer and shots before but I do believe doing it intentionally in front of cameras for publicity is a bit much. It shows lack of professionalism. If they do it on their time and cameras catch them that is different. Seems Hillary drinks alot, the plane with Media, then the beer and shot. It seems it shows alot of unprofessionalism if you ask me.

NC4Obama   April 14th, 2008 10:50 am ET

Since it seems that many are saying Obama was wrong about people being bitter then I suggest we send some more jobs overseas…..I mean it doesn't bother anybody so why not………

Margo   April 14th, 2008 10:50 am ET

Well, you got to be kidding me obama. . What the hell is the big deal, so what! I saw you do the same thing. I cant believe you would waste the campaign money from your supporters to talk about beer, lol, what a joke!!!

Toot   April 14th, 2008 10:50 am ET

I think he is trying any and everything to pull anyone down. Sen Clinton was having fun and it is good to see her relax and enjoy the media. Grow up Obama!!
No different from you smoking???

Alex H   April 14th, 2008 10:50 am ET

Simon Jinx – The problem is, Hillary came out, I believe it was around the DC primary and said "the American people don't need promises… and as President of the United States I promise [insert relevant issue of the day]!!!"

Jeff   April 14th, 2008 10:50 am ET

Obama can do a line of blow for the media to one up her.

Sharon   April 14th, 2008 10:50 am ET

What bothers me about Hillary is she is taking a page right out of the Republican playbook. Tackle your differences; fine, but to claim he is an elitist because he made the honest point that good people are angry and bitter because the American dream has dried up for them and their towns is dishonest at best. Drinking a shot of whiskey is an act just like George Bush eating pork rinds. It means absoultely nothing. The media's obsession with window dressing is pathetic.

JUDE CT   April 14th, 2008 10:50 am ET

I don't see anything wrong with Hillary taking a shot and drinking a beer. However, she should remain sober and wait until Barack Obama's swearing in ceremony, into the White house!

Eric   April 14th, 2008 10:50 am ET

She is our only special interest real hope!

Ryan, Champlin MN   April 14th, 2008 10:49 am ET

How can you earn over a $$ HUNDRED MILLION DOLLARS $$ in less than a decade and not be an elitist! Does anybody really think in their heart of hearts that the Clinton's give a rip about us little people? Please!

jill american   April 14th, 2008 10:49 am ET

This is change Obama?

It is only OK for you to do photo ops (you went bowling first).

You said you would have fired Penn but you didn't leave your church?

Your arrogance is showing Mr OBush!

James Lowe   April 14th, 2008 10:49 am ET

All I keep hearing about from the People who support Obama is, "Change, We can believe in"…..Why don't all of these angry Obama supporters who claim to be all about Change and Hope, Quit acting and speaking like mindless morons everyday about the other candidates….They are so PHONY….

Veterans for Obama   April 14th, 2008 10:49 am ET

Go barack!

Moombay   April 14th, 2008 10:49 am ET

Clearly America needs to wake up and realize that Hillary Clinton is the choice for President of the United States. The more I see of B. Obama the more I'm convinced that "the emperor has no clothes".

Rich   April 14th, 2008 10:49 am ET

Where is the story here? How does this further any discussion?

Steven   April 14th, 2008 10:49 am ET

Obama is falling apart…he's attacking Hillary for having a drink with media people. What next? And at least she has proposals Obama, you just say we need to fix this, we need to fix this.

Orlando from Ohio   April 14th, 2008 10:48 am ET

Can any one tell me why we are not hearing anything about the Peter Paul vs Clinton Case Thats about to take place In Cali? Why isn't The News talking about That? If their were any candidate going threw a court deal like this their run for president would be over.

Anonymous   April 14th, 2008 10:48 am ET

Where is the story here?

Josh M   April 14th, 2008 10:48 am ET

What a joke! This is the best you got?? … I wish I could take my vote back.

Hillary '08

Texan   April 14th, 2008 10:48 am ET

Oh Bama , what a "double standard" ?

Now, he is gonna attack Cindy McCains' affiliations.

He should better be back in court baracks.

james Pa   April 14th, 2008 10:47 am ET

The 'two-fer' Clintons are pathetic liars.
They cannot tell the "truth from fantasy."
Hillary lies and Bill believes it

Brenda   April 14th, 2008 10:47 am ET

Hillary only wants to put on a show. She relishes attention and the media is making sure she gets all she needs. As stated in the movie "The Negotiator", "I Wonder Why?"

Fav   April 14th, 2008 10:47 am ET

You are utterly pathetic Obama! You have no rhetoric left to get back at Clinton for her criticism of the stupid things you've been saying lately!
So you stoop this low to get back at her??

You know, I'm not surprised!

HILLARY 08 & 12

sky   April 14th, 2008 10:47 am ET

If you read Obama's book you will see that visiting a bar is not as outrageous. Obama has actually been poor, has actually seen poverty first hand, has actually sat at a bar late into the night with family or buddies. He has actually lived the life. It is not an act for him to visit a bar. While golden spoon Hillary is a bit different.

Marilyn in Texas   April 14th, 2008 10:47 am ET

I am bitter too, Obama…..and yes I cling to my faith in times like these..because it is all that I have…..You have too, because God know our Politicians are not listening they are only lining there on pockets. I guess I am out of touch and an elitist too. Not. I am just the working poor.

JB Hull, IA   April 14th, 2008 10:47 am ET

Yes, CNN, I'm sure whatever it actually was Barack was trying to say in that speech was really all about whether or not politicians should drink beer in front of the camera… way to actually report the real news… I'm so sick of your stupid manufactured controversies, and complete inability to report on anything real.

Candi SC   April 14th, 2008 10:46 am ET

Maybe now they are even with jokes and harsh words against each other. This is out of character for Obama but I guess he is tired of Hillary making jokes and poking fun at everything he do. I hope this is the last of the nasty politics and now they can get back to work.. Hillary and Obama the show is over.

jon   April 14th, 2008 10:46 am ET

And America will echo the Obama refrain clearly in PA and beyond, "Not this time, not this time, not this time!" Not this time, Obama! You're sunk punk.

Mike   April 14th, 2008 10:46 am ET

Wow…now that is getting desperate. If you have to belittle someone for having a drink and having fun with voters then you are in desperation mode. Hey Obama, get off your high horse and try to relate to the average American. His elitism is playing out everytime he speaks!

GR   April 14th, 2008 10:46 am ET

i need a beer and a shot, please.

Frustrated Voter   April 14th, 2008 10:46 am ET

Have you ever noticed how Clinton backers mirror her personality with their mean spirited, bitter, UNenlightened remarks? I find it amazing. Take note people, check them out.

Cal   April 14th, 2008 10:46 am ET

hilary clinton in touch with the people?

I am pretty sure most people will not see 1% in their lives of what her family made in 6 years.

About as in touch as prince william is to the common people.

If only hilary clintons supporters could sit back and think for themselves instead of prending shes always the victim.

rabblerouser   April 14th, 2008 10:46 am ET

When I heard Obama liken Hillary to Annie Oakley I thought he reminded me of how my 15 year old students ridicule one another. This is the new politics of change?

Dion   April 14th, 2008 10:46 am ET

Barack is right………that's nothing compared to the lines of cocaine he used to do……..totally weak!

Mary   April 14th, 2008 10:45 am ET

You go girl!!! A boilermaker is one of Pennsylvania's finest traditions. But then again maybe we drink because we ARE BITTER !!!!!

Pennsylvania for Hillary

Jeff in Alabama   April 14th, 2008 10:45 am ET

Funny how we all get down into the mud when we are desperate. If anyone can take a moment to wipe the mud from their eyes, you will see McCain standing on the side formulating his policies to put into effect as President. Only one clear choice to make if you don't want McCain as President.

Hillary 08!

Kevin, NC   April 14th, 2008 10:45 am ET

I figured someone would say something about Hil-liar and her Boilermaker. She is really a joke, that will do anything to win.

Undecided in 08, but I know it wont be Clinton (smile)

After further review,Texas   April 14th, 2008 10:45 am ET

The Clintons have no credibility, the voters in P.A will make that fact very clear soon and Operation Chaos is a dud.

jd   April 14th, 2008 10:44 am ET

Good for you Obama. Now that Hillary made a "Bitter" mountain out of nothing, its time she got a bit of what she gives. OBAMA/08

sherry   April 14th, 2008 10:44 am ET

and to 'obamacan' , the first blogger up there, Bill Clinton didn't say people we're "clinging to religion and guns BECAUSE they were bitter". Get the facts straight as they are. Obama is a loser and a hypocrite. There will be many more examples. Just listen.

Eli   April 14th, 2008 10:44 am ET

He has got to try a get the story over on something else. He does not want PA to keep remembering his BITTER comment. They are keeping Michelle out of sight alot sinmce her comments, it looks like they need to start keeping him out of the spot light now.

vivian1tennis   April 14th, 2008 10:44 am ET

Go Obama , i was about to start thinking when will you ever react to these shameless attavks from Billary.

jj   April 14th, 2008 10:44 am ET

Oh my, did Obama get a little upset. He somehow got caught in his PRIVATE, behind the back of ordinary people, fundraiser. He's a good speaker. He tell us one thing and fundraisers something else, because they are lobbiest. Which he told us, shouldn't be allowed. Boy two faced as can be. Changing my vote for sure. Better the one you know than the one you don't.

APS in Hawaii   April 14th, 2008 10:43 am ET

Obama is showing why he should not be the nominee. What a jerk!!! I guess the Obama supporters will twist this to show how this is tied with NAFTA. Obama = loser!!! What I want to know why is it that it always takes a week or longer when he makes his mistakes for it to get in the news, while Hillary's are the same day. Things that make you go hmmmmm.

Andrea   April 14th, 2008 10:43 am ET

Well said, Trev.

Go Clinton! I'd do a shot with her any day, haha. :)

Mike   April 14th, 2008 10:43 am ET

You see Obama she can drink unlike an addict like you. How many times have you slipped back to your smoking and even cocaine habit? How long has it been since you have attended an addiction support meeting Obama?

Fani   April 14th, 2008 10:43 am ET

Although I like Obama and will vote Obama, I'm getting tired of this "he said, she said"… literally.
They're both behaving childish now and Hillary is going down in flames, but is desperately pulling Obama down with her so she can run in 2012.
I hope Penn puts her out of her misery by handing her a shocking defeat so Obama can concentrate on the real problems and tackle McCain.

Krissy   April 14th, 2008 10:43 am ET

How can people say Obama is an elitist? He has been working for the impoverished his whole life. He is a self made man that came from a single parent household. Hillary is the one has been privileged.

Obama was right, people are distrustful in their government and mad about the situation. Rightfully so! We all are.

The Clinton's are just trying to distract from their support for NAFTA and that Bill got paid $800,000 for promoting the Columbian bill. The Clinton's do not care about the American people. They are already making deals to help themselves and hurt normal citizens!

Hillary only drinks, You had a drug problem. Say no to this empty suit Obama. Anyone but Nobama for sure.

Bill Rich   April 14th, 2008 10:42 am ET

I wonder whether Hillary was thinking of herself when she mentioned "elitist" and "patronizing" democrats. We know how she feels about women who bake cookies.

Sjohnston   April 14th, 2008 10:42 am ET

We are left w/ no choice but to vote for political idiots, pursuing their personal agendas. Maybe Democracy is not the way for us. Problem is not our Pres. but those self-serving members of our Congress.

sherry   April 14th, 2008 10:42 am ET

What a hypocrite this guy is. He says "they'll do anything, even drink a beer" when he did the same thing at a bar for political purposes recently. Keep talkin' Obama….dig it deeper.

Give me a break. This is the biggest loser I've seen trying to get a very important job in looong time.

HILLARY IS OUR ONLY REAL HOPE. WAKE UP AMERICA.

Lucas, Nashville TN   April 14th, 2008 10:42 am ET

Joe from PA   April 14th, 2008 10:41 am ET

"The reason (Bush's tactic) works so well now is that you have all these economically insecure white people who are scared to death," Clinton was quoted saying by the Los Angeles Times

Joe   April 14th, 2008 10:41 am ET

He is pathetic! I really can't elieve he brought that up. What a joker! I was actually glad to see Clinton having fun. Sounds like he's getting desperate.

O Man   April 14th, 2008 10:41 am ET

Did she ask to leave the bottle?

ForObama   April 14th, 2008 10:41 am ET

What an elitist! Born to a woman from Kansas, raised by his grandmother. I heard he just finished paying off his student loans. And he has the good fortune to do all this without making 100 million dollars or being an heir to a beer distributor like the other candidates. Out of touch, arrogant, elitist. That really spells Obama. Uh, huh. Really, Hillary? Really?

Dana, Pittsburgh PA   April 14th, 2008 10:41 am ET

POOR OBAMA NEEDS TO CHANGE THE STORY…

SAME OLD POLITICS !!!

JUST ANOTHER POLITICIAN

No Republicans In Whitehouse   April 14th, 2008 10:41 am ET

Politics are so stupid – photo-ops and tearing apart every single word like wolves on a deer. Crazy. I don't care what any of them prefer to drink.

Obama or Clinton for President. I prefer Obama, but I'll take Clinton over another Republican any day!!! Republicans have made a total mess of America and other parts of the world! (that is saying it nicely). They think they know whats best for everyone and bully, extort, lie, and use force to get their way.

Knowledge is Power   April 14th, 2008 10:41 am ET

Mr Obama's personal attack to a simple thing like "shot and beer" suggests how like the washington insider politician he is.
By the way how does one define a "washington insider"?
knowledge is power

"The reason (George H. W. Bush's tactic) works so well now is that you have all these economically insecure white people who are scared to death," ~Bill Clinton

Thank you JR for posting this.

By the way, John McCain is irrelevant.

Starxzilla   April 14th, 2008 10:41 am ET

Hillary NEEDS a shot of truth serum, maybe she'll stop making up stories and pulling kitchen sinks out of her keister to throw… maybe she'll be honest with herself and stop attacking her party's nominee.

Obama, don't forget, you are a politican too.

Spirit of America   April 14th, 2008 10:36 am ET

Blowback from elitist comments about bitter Americans clinging to religion, guns and anti-[free]trade sentiments or throw back a shot and beer? That's a no-brainer. Give me the shot and beer, and take away elitist hypocritical politicians.

Trev   April 14th, 2008 10:36 am ET

Desperation = Obama

We know he is an elitist. He talks like an elitist. He was talking to other elitists when he made fun of small town America. Now he wants to blame Clinton? Look, all three presidential candidates are rich. The difference is that Clinton has a history of figting poverty and does not talk down to us. Obama does. End of story.

Fred   April 14th, 2008 10:35 am ET

McCain willl never be my president. I'm sick of talking points and war mongers.

Obama 08
