From

(CNN) – On an Obama conference call Wednesday, campaign manager David Plouffe would not say whether or when the Illinois senator would be releasing his 1997-99 tax returns.

"We released our full tax returns for the entire decade, same period,” said Plouffe, adding that they would “shortly” be releasing the full 2007 returns.

But Plouffe was referring to the years 2000 through 2006, the “same period” as the returns released by Hillary Clinton’s campaign recently, after Obama did the same. The New York senator’s tax returns for the past 30 years have now been made public.

“Despite touting its commitment to transparency, the Obama campaign is apparently refusing to release Sen. Obama’s tax returns from 1997, 1998 and 1999,” the Clinton campaign said in a statement sent to reporters Wednesday afternoon. “It’s unfortunate that Sen. Obama isn’t living up to the standards he sets for everyone else.”

B.O. does not want America to see what his investments and charities have been, and there must be a reason for that.

OMG….This is getting deep into SILLY SEASON….The Clinton's camp are acting like 2 year olds….

Now for Obama   April 16th, 2008 4:09 pm ET

Hillary go crawl back into your hole!

If I were Obama, I would not even pay any attention to her!

Debbie   April 16th, 2008 4:09 pm ET

Where are Clinton's 2007 returns, and her earmarks. Boy she's desperate.

ostriches burying our heads in sand   April 16th, 2008 4:10 pm ET

This is getting ridiculous!

Anthony-Minneapolis,MN   April 16th, 2008 4:11 pm ET

This is a garbage argument and discussion. Obama was just out of law school I believe for the period the Clintons want to see his returns 1997, 1998 and 1999 and was in the state legislature of which, in a national election have no bearing. This is a smoke screen attempt by the Clintons. We wanted to see the Clinton's returns because he was president, she first lady and now Senator. They also did not release them when repeated requested were made over the past 7 yrs. Not the same Billary, but I am sure you will keep trying.

Maybe we could get his High School Final Report Card too!!1

Avis, Richton Park, IL   April 16th, 2008 4:12 pm ET

Well Hillary I don't think it will add up to $109 million, especially since he just paid off his student loan 4 years ago !!!!!!

Stop reaching Hillary, you're done!!

DZ in Austin   April 16th, 2008 4:13 pm ET

Here in Texas, It's called 'right back at ya'. What's he hiding besides Rezko????

sherry   April 16th, 2008 4:13 pm ET

Where are all the comments from the Obama people now? When the burden of proof falls into the Obama court, suddenly all we get is silence. Why the double standard? In the beginning, I was an Obama supporter but all I hear are speeches by someone who is a natural gifted speaker. I want both candidates to be treated by the same standards and I do believe that CNN is definitely in Obama's corner.

Dee   April 16th, 2008 4:14 pm ET

I think he must release his tax returns all the way back from college for full transparency.

Who knows how many food stamps he has to hide from those years???
Transparency!!!

Silly season it is…

Rick in Oregon   April 16th, 2008 4:14 pm ET

It was SILLY for Obama to bring up these tax returns to begin with since Hillary had released so much more than he had, but since he did, I don't think that he can (nor can his supporters) say that it's silly.

He set the rules, so he should follow them.

Mike   April 16th, 2008 4:16 pm ET

Lets see it is ok for him to raise the question regarding hers… now he is not willing to release his…

All of us in Illinois all ready know that it is going to link him to Rezko and his house deal… All of you need to read about the Rezko trial… in recent testimony Obama was at a dinner party with some real shady people that have been linked to terrorist groups…

CNN released a small story about this on the blog the other day… not sure why it was not front and center… it calls into question a lot of things!!!

aughhhh   April 16th, 2008 4:16 pm ET

This is really getting ridiculous, stick to the issues! Talk about what is important to the country…….the war, economy, environment, our reputation worldwide. The rest of the world must be laughing their heads off at the way these campaigns have been run.

Randy   April 16th, 2008 4:16 pm ET

The Clinton campaign is not only shameful to the entire Democratic Party, but has also tainted the years under the Clinton Administration. They have ran a negative campaign and tried to rip the party apart for their own personal gains. There was a time when I thought that the name Clinton was equal to greatness. Sadly, now I equate the Clinton name to nothing more than "politics".

Kevin - Jonesboro, GA   April 16th, 2008 4:16 pm ET

Are the Clinton's seriously trying to imply that Barack has some millions of dollars on his state senator's salary during this time. sorry Billary, while you were raking in the dollars hand over fist he was still struggling paying off his and his wife's student loans.

Billary - you disgust me!!!

Lee WV   April 16th, 2008 4:17 pm ET

Obama is probably afraid people will criticize him for not making even1/10 th of what the Clintons made.

Oh Please   April 16th, 2008 4:18 pm ET

If I were the Obamas I would not release anything else. Ask Billary to show us who donated to that library…

PA Democrat   April 16th, 2008 4:18 pm ET

Alonzo Fonzo: Who cares about tax returns from 1997 thats sooo last decade! Get a life!
6 NC Superdelegates backed Sen. Obama - Deal with it!
He will release his returns when he is good and ready - Hillary made us wait for her's and only released them right after her top advisor Mark Penn got busted in bed with the Columbians making trade deals!
1997-99? Give me a BREAK!!!!!!!!! Was he even a Senator?

Food for thought   April 16th, 2008 4:18 pm ET

Really Oborme. Please release all your taxes. You cried and whined for Hillary to, and she has. Release all of your 2007 taxes also.
Why wait?
As usual he speaks a good game but can't follow through.
Doesn't seem like change to me.
But then again Usatoday.com has come up with all his 'hidden' lobbyist fund raising.
Why is CNN reporting on that?

justobserve   April 16th, 2008 4:18 pm ET

That's right! Obama doesn't have to do whatever Clinton did. In fact, he should NOT do as Clinton dictates.

Eddie   April 16th, 2008 4:21 pm ET

This is Hillarious,You want tax returns from when he was in college to .We have to do something about this, before this guy was even a senator. Can we see Hillary and Bills donor records for his library and some more transcripts from white water.I am not accusing any body of anything but Hillary did say she use to hunt .I think someone involved in whitewater was shot in the back of the head with a shotgun.Hmmmmmmm!!!!

MD   April 16th, 2008 4:21 pm ET

When you release your 2007 returns, you can ask Obama about his ancient tax returns.

Hillary is such a pathetic individual, she gives me the creeps.

Do we really want someone so small-minded, self-serving, selfish, and stupid to run this country?

Duke   April 16th, 2008 4:21 pm ET

Wow, the wheels really are falling off of the Clinton campaign. It will be interesting to see how the Clintons fair in the aftermath of all of this craziness beyond this year's campaign.

The national party has allowed the Clintons to comandeer the party just to feed their own ambitions. They really do have an attitude of entitlement to this nomination. I hope that the party elders can take the party back from Bill and Hillary once this is all over. However, it appears that it will be over only when Bill says that it is over. That is too much power for one man in a national party. He and Hillary are willing to take the entire party down the tube if necessary. Neither George Bush had that kind of power over the entire Republican party. Hmmm, think I will change my registration from Democrat to Independent. Is anyone else considering a similar move?

Scot C.   April 16th, 2008 4:22 pm ET

I have to give it to Hillary because everyday it's something. I understand that she would have tax returns dating 30 years back, but not Obama. He's not that old.
Are they saying that he cheated on his taxes or did something inappropriate? What exactly are they looking for?
I can't wait for the Democratic Primaries to be over, it is wearing me out. Hopefully, the end is near. It's time to focus on McCain and the Republicans.

Andrew, Chicago   April 16th, 2008 4:22 pm ET

The Clinton camp seems to have a legitimate argument.

noemi in los angeles   April 16th, 2008 4:22 pm ET

“It’s unfortunate that Sen. Obama isn’t living up to the standards he sets for everyone else.”……………….Is she kidding????? Her words make no sense. She likes to talk smack about Obama every chance she has, but laughs off he "misspeaks" on late-night t.v. and blames her lack of sleep. OH and on top of that, she distorts Obama's "bitter" message to gain momentum in PA. Come on people, we all know what she said back in the Ohio primary about Obama-Canada….. then her own Clinton-Colombia happened and she could not say anything but shut up!

YES, I am bitter and I demand change.

Ryan from Indiana   April 16th, 2008 4:23 pm ET

Lol - go Hillary!! After all of the whining that he did about tax returns, and how little of a difference it made (other then the fact that a former President and a current senator are rich - who would have guessed that?!), now he's once again put himself in a situation that he could have avoided.

Well, come on Obama - where are those tax returns?!?!

Jools   April 16th, 2008 4:23 pm ET

Oh please. Wasn't he like 14 years old in '99? Just kidding, obviously, but this is still ridiculous. Doesn't Hillary get it that we the voters see through these political gotcha games?

Pooh496   April 16th, 2008 4:24 pm ET

Was is it the silly season when Obama demanded Hillary's tax returns? What's good for the gander is good for the goose.

Did you all see the front page of the USA Today. Obama does take money from lobbiests. OH MY! Like we didn't already know that. The media is always trying to hide the truth about Obama. And CNN and MSNBC are the worst.

Mike   April 16th, 2008 4:24 pm ET

Obama had no income in those years. He gave all his money to Rev. Wright and the Trinity Bigotry Church.

Alex in San Antonio   April 16th, 2008 4:24 pm ET

If he released 1997 - 1999, the next accusation would be "what about 1994 - 1996″

Desperation is not a nice perfume.

By the way Hillary, nice work on the 38% of Americans that think you're trustworthy. They all post on cnn.com if you need to get hold of them.

Lisa CA   April 16th, 2008 4:25 pm ET

So here's to YOU NEED TO KNOW and Now for Obama,

Why was it ok for the Obama camp to hound Clinton until she released her ta returns, but it is "silly season" and crawling into a hole when Obama is the one refusing??

This is the problem with Obama and even though he might get the Dem's nod, with all that ha come out and ALL that he is HIDING he will never win the election in November.

Wake up!!! If all of you insist on making him the candidate without being scrutinized then you must want Republicans in the White House again.

Linda   April 16th, 2008 4:25 pm ET

That is so funny. You want to see how much he didn't make???? Umm, have the Clinton released 2007 tax returns??? Nope. How about you do that first. We were looking for the tax returns from the 2000s.

Curliss   April 16th, 2008 4:25 pm ET

Exactly "Now for Obama"… I wont be paying attention to Obama when i vote for McCain. Its Hillary or McCain for most older democrats. Because, we have the pocket books to last another 4 years with a republican as president. Sorry!!!

Kshama   April 16th, 2008 4:25 pm ET

Come on America. Wouldn't we all want to see the $ trail of all the candidates? Maybe it's necessary to make a speech on it to deflect attention or play "dirty" politics and call your opponent a liar. Mr Obama did or did you not wait too long to confront Rev Wright?

What's the matter. I wish I could buy a house for a good as a deal Mr Obama got.

Independent   April 16th, 2008 4:25 pm ET

Really??? You want to go there….where are your earmarks? I thought you were going to release them? Thanks for reminding us again…..As per Obama's promise he has declared to commit to NO earmarks spending for 2009…can we say the same about Sen. Clinton…mmmm….read on!

As Obama: No earmarks for 2009

"Clinton previously has NOT made her earmark requests public. But she added about $2.2 billion into spending bills between 2002 and 2006, according to the watchdog group Taxpayers for Common Sense. In the 2008 budget year, Clinton — by herself or with other lawmakers — obtained scores of earmarks, according to the group. Those requests amounted to $342 million. Clinton will still make requests for the coming year(2009), but will limit those earmarks to "the most critical needs for New York and America," according to a statement from her staff". – CNN; wirtten By Drew Griffin and Scott Bronstein

Rick in Florida   April 16th, 2008 4:25 pm ET

HILLARY REFUSES TO GIVE US HER OWN 2007 TAX RETURNS…… BECAUSE IT WILL SHOW WHERE AND FROM WHOM BILL GOT HIS MILLIONS IN KAZAKHSTAN, MEXICO, CANADA AND DUBAI…….AND WHY HER JANUARY $5MILL "LOAN" WAS A VIOLATION OF FEDERAL FINANCE LAWS…..AND SHE HAS THE CHUTZPA TO CRITICIZE OBAMA???? GIMME A BREAK!!!!

OH….AND WHEN IS CNN (OR ANYONE) GOING TO ASK HILLARY IF SHE'LL BE PAYING "STREET MONEY" IN PHILADELPHIA TO BUY VOTES??? OBAMA HAS REFUSED….WHEN WILL SHE BE ASKED?

noemi in los angeles   April 16th, 2008 4:25 pm ET

OH GOD… and it took Hillary 1,000 years to release her own tax returns!! The only reason she even released her tax returns was to divert the attention from the PENN-COLOMBIA scandal. Otherwise, we would still not have her taxes released today. DUH!

Clinton… just shut up, we're tired, tired, tired and bitter about you still being on the race. Seriously.

I'm tired of hypocrisy from this man. I was originally charmed by his promise of change, but over the course of this campaign I have come to see him for what he truly is: a hypocrite. First to go negative, thinnest bi-partisan record of any candidate, negligent senator. What a waste of air.

Stop all the division about race and let us elected a good democratic president in the white house. Obama has no explanation to make to no body or no race group because he did not mention any race that was bitter with guns and religion. The comment was about Americans that live in rural PA and I far that I am concern there are all different races of people living in those region.
People come on! This is almost the end of the 21st century and you have not over this nonsense yet. America if you did not know is a country that is compose of many races of people and I do not think there is a single one of us that is more American than others.

How many times did I come to these comment areas before Clinton turned over her tax returns and see all the Obama supporters shouting about her hiding something and "why hasn't she turned over her tax returns?"

Now when Clinton is saying the exact same thing, you're accusing her of acting like a two year old, and telling her to crawl back into her hole? Can you say double standard?

What keeps me from going over to the Obama camp is the Obama supporters. I, frankly, don't want to be lumped in with such vitriolic, hate-filled, people.

The Truth   April 16th, 2008 4:33 pm ET

I would like to see Obama's tax returns. I also want to see when he actually paid his student loan off. I do not take his word for it. He thinks he can just spin some theory and the rest of the world will fall for it. But unfortunately for you Obama, we dont judge a book by its cover, we actually read it. your beauty is skin deep but you tend to get rotten at the core.
stop with your constant nonsense and talk about some real issues Obama. Also tell us something, now that your spiritual adviser has retired from church, are you going to be offering him a job in your administration to poison more african americans against the rest of the americans?

Desiree   April 16th, 2008 4:33 pm ET

After the big fuss he made over Sen Clinton's tax returns he has a lot of nerves, what is he hiding? Obama is change we don't need or want.

Jerry in Boston   April 16th, 2008 4:33 pm ET

Excuse me? The Clinton's are behaving like 2 year olds?

Remind me. Who started this nonsense by asking for tax returns and implying that Senator Clinton had something to hide?

You reap what you sow. The double standards of the Obamatons is infuriating. They berate Clinton for her negative attack ads, but when Obama does it, he's simply "responding", so that's ok.

Seriously, I really hope people see through the absolute bare faced cheek of Obama and his drones before it's too late.

BTW - I'm going to claim that CNN never posts my comments and imply that there's some kind of conspiracy, because that seems to be the only way they WILL post my comments, because that makes me look silly. I used yo like CNN, but you're just as much of an agenda driven bunch of charlatans as FOX.

Let's see those dealings with Tony Rezko uncovered.

Another instance of the Clintons trying to move the goal post again and again! First, show us your stuff from this year to that, and when it's done, we will show you ours. So now ALL DONE on both sides. But NO!! Now show us yours again for a different era! Clintons should just go away. They should never again be embraced by the party as they have shown how truly destructive they are to anyone.

April in Texas   April 16th, 2008 4:37 pm ET

Good Grief Hillary.. Lets see where are your 2007 tax returns? Where is the list for your donors in regards to the Clinton Foundation? Why is Mark Penn even remotely involved in your campaign? Where are your earmark releases? Where are the missing sections of those whitehouse transcripts? I could go on but this seems so silly. I am curious what you guys think could possibly show up on Obamas tax returns during 1997, 1998 and 1999?

Here we go again, back to the old tax thing. Hillary keeps playing in Obama's house and he keeps kicking her out. If Hillary thinks for one minute Obama didn't expect this from her, he never would have asked for her release of tax info (think about it).

Enough of this "Oh yeah, well my opponent did, or said this"…….

Enough already !! Is this democracy at its best???

Sen. Obama was not running for the Presidency in that time period, nor was he running for First Lady! I may be way off base here, but why does he need to address this time period. I really would appreciate some info on this.

NEWS: After Obama released all of his tax returns, in a statement sent to reporters Monday morning, the Clinton campaign continue to attack:

dave   April 16th, 2008 4:39 pm ET

a question from a mccain supporter (me) which is, what could be in the obama returns from the last 90s that are of much interest? presumably he did not make a lot of money during that time frame, would it be his deductions or sources of income? anyways, yes, if things are transparent, they should be released…. although i am sure that obama's tax returns when he was in college working the ice cream counter would not be of much interest to any one….. so how far back should we go on the candidates tax returns? and, to be fair, we might as well start asking ralph nader to have his tax returns be issued as well… if nader is to be considered a legitimate (if not exactly viable) candidate for prez, his tax returns should also be released…. but how far back for nader as well??

John   April 16th, 2008 4:39 pm ET

Obama is not above the law,and like the Clintons should present theirtax returns for the the time in question.Refusing to do so would be a big problem for Obama. Those Obama supporters who hounded the Clintons, now unashamedly are advising Obama not to present the tax returns.Do the right thing and submit your tax returns as requested NOW!!!

If Barack has nothing to worry about, then let the process play out all the way to the end of the last primary, until all willing eligible voters have had their say.

You guys have so much to say about how Hillary is trying to beat the system. Well, forcing her to quit is also a way to try to beat the system, but I suppose it is again ok for Barack to do what he needs to to win the nomination. Right?

Jay, IL   April 16th, 2008 4:44 pm ET

What's Obama hiding? x 1000

Tom,des moines   April 16th, 2008 4:44 pm ET

Hussein Obama,Let see your income tax return record, states senate record, travel record and your friends Tony Resko record. Hussein Obama is time for you to put up or shut the hell up. I think Hussein Obama is a coward.

CJ from Kansas City   April 16th, 2008 4:45 pm ET

Hahaha, this is funny! Whats funnier is that Obama still didn't make as much as she did for the period she is asking about. So what exactly does she want with those tax returns? I guess everything else has backfired on her so she is looking for a new reason to cause more trouble…This is tbe best comedy show I've watched in years.

Dina Phila., Pa   April 16th, 2008 4:45 pm ET

This is absolutely STUPID! Every time Obama has been asked to reveal anything, he has come out and done so. Please Hillary, ask your accountant to give us the rest of your tax returns that you had him hide from the American Public. I know that you had your accountant deliberately leave out several of you and your husbands’ investments, (Columbian Trade Agreement) How much did you get from that? How much and who (more importantly WHO) gave money to your Clinton Library? Where is it Hillary? These stupid stunts will not get you any votes; instead, it shows how you are declining in Public View! It's sad to see you completely lose your dignity. It's going to be hard for you to walk back into your old position, when all of your colleagues give you the stare of death as you walk through the Senate Door. You will know exactly what they are thinking about you (What The Hell Are You Doing Back Here?)

fred   April 16th, 2008 4:45 pm ET

Notice how this story is down at the bottom of the page??????

Crystal CA   April 16th, 2008 4:45 pm ET

I don't think so you crazy Obama supporters! You all were foaming at the mouth about Clinotn's tax returns, and now all of the sudden they are no longer relavent. All I heard for weeks was "where are her tax returns!" He doesn't want people to see his tax returns for these years for a reason.

why the dems so crazy   April 16th, 2008 4:46 pm ET

wow!!! the Clintons can not stay on the topic can they… Alonzo why are you for the clinton? Also explain this and no BS

Hillary the whole NATION is pressing YOU for answers to our questions about!

The 800K Cafta money

Donors list ( the few that we did get turned out to be VERY suspect. $110 MILLION from ONE guy and you won't say WHY??

and dozens more.

Tim   April 16th, 2008 4:46 pm ET

Little Miss makes 100 million dollars is trying to say that Barack Obama, who made next to nothing in 97, 98, 99, is hiding something? And she has the gall to say that he is refusing to release them? He probably just didnt think they were relevant, and they arent. So now he'll just release them tomorrow and you will look like a fool.

Paul   April 16th, 2008 4:46 pm ET

OBAMA YOU R DONE! THEY LIVED UP TO THEIR STANDARDS , GAVE TO CHARITY AND OVERPAID THEIR TAXES.

YOU ARE JUST ABOUT EMPTY SPEECHES

HILLARY - 08!!!

Silly Season?   April 16th, 2008 4:46 pm ET

If it were the Clintons you disillusioned Obama fans would want to see the1997-99 tax returns……… be fair

Sorry Hillary, the race is over.

I want to see Hillary's returns from 1987 -1989.

Yeah just for the fun of it. Can she get any silly???

Jay, IL   April 16th, 2008 4:47 pm ET

Now Obama supporters were stunned, 'cause they were asking the questions "What's Clinton hiding?" like crazy before.

Now the same knife you want to kill others is stabbing your own chest.

Please treat obama the same way you treat Clinton!

Ada   April 16th, 2008 4:47 pm ET

Puh-leeze. We already know they weren't really making any money. The Chinese and Colombians weren't paying hundreds of thousands of dollars to hear Obama speak and to have him lobby for them.

Go away, HRC.

Julie   April 16th, 2008 4:48 pm ET

Clinton is delusional if she thinks her cheap gimmicks will work.

NickSanDiego   April 16th, 2008 4:48 pm ET

The clintons are shooting their full wad now. 6 or more attacks a day. This is a sad end to a politcal career. No really I find it SAD! I hate to see anyone go down in total shame and humiliated.

But some bring it on themselves.

Mike   April 16th, 2008 4:49 pm ET

Wow. What next a copy of his high school report card. Or maybe his diary or journal. Maybe the love letters to Michelle, or his collection of comic books(if he reads Ghost Rider then it proves he's a satanist).

The candidates were asked to release the returns from this decade, why would you ask this if you are running on your overwhelming experience and knowledge?

Senator please, show some of the dignity that you undoubtedly have and have shown of the past decade plus. If the people are not for you then change their minds now, by being the most integral candidate. If this is not your season, back the winner and if he doesn't win you are the front runner in 12. But, grace under fire Hill… no pun intended.

veronica   April 16th, 2008 4:49 pm ET

Hillary..please stop it..You make me worry when I think I am going to vote for you.

Elbram   April 16th, 2008 4:50 pm ET

Pennsylvania voters, fellow Americans, please consider getting on board with us in backing Senator Obama! It is time that we patriots all joined together behind this wonderful candidate who is NOT aligned with corporate special interests! Donations come from individuals; all of us have some industry we are tied to. When he takes contributions from the people, there are NO FAVORS REQUIRED from him.

These corporate special interests that control American politics don't stand a chance against us because Obama is the ONLY candidate that has built the ONLY weapon that can be effective against the corprate money/influence. The weapon that I speak of is the 1.3+ million individual donors and more importantly individual voter database! Help grow that database even more and be a part of the calvary that frees America's politics from those corporate groups that Clinton and McCain are publicly and politically aligned with!

We are the ones we have been waiting for, sound the charge!

-US Army veteran

Becky Montgomery   April 16th, 2008 4:50 pm ET

RELEASE YOUR TAX RETURNS & ILLINOIS STATE RECORDS….

Demetrius Alonzo Stagg   April 16th, 2008 4:51 pm ET

Alonzo - too bad you don't speculate on what those reasons are, so in lieu of your lack of insight on the matter, I'll just chalk it up to ignorance on your part.

b-liberal   April 16th, 2008 4:51 pm ET

Obama presses for Clinton tax returns - big event - what is she hiding? - conspiracy!

Clinton asks Obama tax returns - how silly - leave Saint Obama alone - how awful for her to suggest it!

Poke a cult and see what happens.

But seriously, I want to know more about his money, his big corporate donors, his donations (Clintons donated 10%). It is time for him to stop hiding behind the misdirection.

Great   April 16th, 2008 4:52 pm ET

yes Alonzo, I think he is definitely hiding something as opposed to Clinton who earned 109m and proved she is living high up in her own bubble.

Tonya from SC   April 16th, 2008 4:52 pm ET

This is really getting ridiculous with the Clinton family. They are trying every little thing to try and make Obama look really bad. If she had any sense in her head, then she would realize that all she is doing is making people draw to him even more. He WILL unite this country and move us forward in the direction that we need to go in.

I she looks in the mirror and see what this is doing to her physically then she would want to get out. I swear since Jan '08, Hillary looks as old as McCain.

Peter   April 16th, 2008 4:52 pm ET

Didn't you know? Releasing tax returns only matter when the tax returns have the name Clinton on them. Those are the only ones the talking heads make an issue of.

Clintons? what about releasing the list your library donors.

Its got to be Hillary   April 16th, 2008 4:56 pm ET

Exactly what I was thinking, he claims he is the most transparent of all the candidates and yet he has yet to realse his tax returns., FYI fact factcheck.com have found that he acctually is taking money from lobbiest 3.5mil from 10 firms and 2.26 mil from their employees. Obama is nothing but a liar, unlike his supporters we back our fact with proof , we dont just blurt out regurgitated mombo jumbo.

This definitely the SILLY SEASON in the Democratic primary season. I really don't care about Obama's 1997, 1998, and 1999 tax returns. The only thing those returns will reveal is that the Obamas were even poorer than we all thought. Maybe we all can see how much student loan interest he and his wife deducted from 1997 to 1999 while they were repaying their student loans.

Obama in 08!

sandy   April 16th, 2008 4:59 pm ET

And the Clintons should declare where their 109 million came from.
They would never do that.

Mr. C.   April 16th, 2008 4:59 pm ET

haHa!!! This is just Hillaryious… The clinton camp is out of ammunitions, now they're throwing in every bread and soda.

wmc71   April 16th, 2008 4:59 pm ET

Oh come on. When the Obama camp did the same thing about the Clintons taxes. Now that the Clintons did release there info and there was nothing incriminating no one has anything to say.So now why is he being reluctant to release all of his taxes. The Clintons have released 30yrs of taxes, so if he has nothing to hide what's the problem.

Eric-PA   April 16th, 2008 5:00 pm ET

OMG hillary needs to give it a rest, she is kicking a dead horse on the Obama 1997 through 1998 tax returns. She is just gonna make herself look even more like the "Elites" when Obama's tax returns yield how little income Obama earned in comparison to the clintons 109 friggin millions.

Obama isn't fully "vetted" until we see baby pictures!

Okay, so Hillary needs to release all of her stuff, but Obama doesn't? Is that how this works?

dEMABRAT   April 16th, 2008 5:02 pm ET

WAIT A MINUTE,….. I have endured months of OBAMA supporters SCREAMING on this ticker for CLINTON to release HER TAX returns for the last SEVERAL MONTHS. Now, the OBAMA people are saying he shouldn't have to?

WHY IS THAT? AREN'T THEY BOTH RUNNING FOR THE SAME OFFICE?

The Clinton's have released all of their returns for the last 30 YEARS!

IT IS ONLY FAIR THAT OBAMA RELEASE ALL OF HIS. HEY REMEMBER THIS OBAMANITES——–WHAT IS HE HIDING???????

An Agnostic Democrat   April 16th, 2008 5:02 pm ET

Hillary:

All you Obama people had been up in arms over Hillary not turn-over her tax returns and look at you guys today. ALL talking out of your backsides including Obama. Maybe he doesn't want us to see his and Michelle donation's to Rezko, Rev Wright and his Church, the lobbist he has put Hillary down about and he's no better (see USAtoday), this list can go on and on and on. So why don't you go crawl in a hole and take Obama with you.

BHO should only release his tax returns for the years he held public office of any sort. Otherwise, the Clintons should not request ANYTHING FROM ANYBODY until she released 1. Her Earmarks for the last 4 years and, 2. Library Donors (unless she chooses to "denounce and reject" being a part of the Library).

I agree with "Now for Obama", I would ignore her camp's request.

George   April 16th, 2008 5:05 pm ET

Anyone but Clinton would have benefited from Obama's gaffes. At this point one wonders if Edward's exit from race was not premature. She just cannot benefit because she has become an unacceptable alternative to Obama–period!

I am so confused by the double-standards that he and his supporters are putting out there. I really could care less about any of their tax returns to be honest, but let's not forget that Obama and his campaign were the ones that made it an issue first!!

SUE, Michigan   April 16th, 2008 5:08 pm ET

Clinton camp acting like 2 year olds? SHE did not start this-HE DID! Why is she always criticized and he is always the poor sweet black man being picked on by big bad Hillary? Wake up people! He has the same selective memory about things as any other politician. He is not about change, he is about getting elected. And the press eats this up and blames her. Talk about a double standard!
And I do not think he can beat McCain because Rive and co. will be all over Rev. Wright, the "elitism" right or wrong, and some of the stuff his wife has screamed about. Hillary is the only one who can take on McCain. Hopefully tonight's debate will show the stronger, better candidate.

Opt for CHANGE!!!   April 16th, 2008 5:08 pm ET

As the say once a crook always a crook but no need to worry John Mcain wiil find out if BOBO is the nominee. Wake up people this man will distroy any hope of willing in Nov. After reading the blogs I believe the DUMBO supporters would support Bush again in nov. I also realize the media will continue to slant every word the can aganist HILLARY so the will have a way to help reelect MCBUSH. For the good of the country vote HILLARY CLINTON. Bythe why doesant DUMBO want FL and Mich.to count? Because he cant win any state that will vote DEMOCRATIC.

Dem in CA   April 16th, 2008 5:10 pm ET

The tax returns were driven as a credibility issue by Obama. I would also be interested in his charitable donations (who, how much) , the 1% was pretty lame. I don't make close to a million dollars a year and I try to hit at least 5% every year. If this guy is going to be the nominee, I don't want this to be an issue in the general election against the Republicans.

Lonny, Seattle   April 16th, 2008 5:10 pm ET

Hey Alonzo, he probably didnt make enough money to actually have investments in '97.
Unlike the Clintons and McBushes who were well on their way to triple digit millionaire status…
Funny how almost all of us Americans stand somewhat of a chance to be in the same financial shoes as the Obama's as single millionaires but we couldnt even understand the Clintons/McBush's wealth even if we won the biggest lottery jackpot in the world…
After taxes of course :)

Veterans for Obama   April 16th, 2008 5:12 pm ET

Let's end this Hillary….really, its getting old. If you can't possibly win, why do you stay in? This is just hurting you. I've read you are already preparing for a run as New York's Govenor. Is it power you want?

sarah   April 16th, 2008 5:12 pm ET

Hillary just knows that her chances for becoming the nominee are quickly fading and she will do every dishonest trick she knows. She is a dishonest scoundrel and should bow out gracefully - if she has any grace left. I sure hope that Obama beats her, and for that matter, McCain.

sherrie50   April 16th, 2008 5:12 pm ET

The Obama group demanded aggressively for the Clinton's to release their returns, but now its petty for Clinton to request the same. There have consistently been 2 sets of rules in this elections.

Obama = lobbyists he has lied about - see USAToday headliner.
Obama = Rezko trial - Auchi Iraqi billionaire/party in Chicago that he has "No recollection" of but a witness on trial Monday said he was there - see Chicago Sun Times article
Obama = EGO!!! he is not ELITE, but has an ELITIST ATTITUDE…
he went to private school forever!!! please…..and his wife….will she still be proud of America if he isn't the nominee? They both seem like spoiled brats to me - he never ever had to work for his Senate seat - it was basically given to him, and Rezko helped.
Obama = bitter man since childhood over his struggles with race and the white man - is that why he joined Rev Wright's church….and is still a member?
Obama = sexist - he is condescending - he calls supporters "sweetie"
and said "Hillary, you're nice enough"
Obama = no experience - at San Francisco fundraiser - he said his VP would be "someone who knows a bunch of stuff I don't know about" - who is this guy?????
Obama = typical politician WHO IS NOW WEARING HIS LAPEL PIN - please, how obvious is that…he flip-flops to suit him.
Obama = no votes for Fl and MI because it is not to his advantage - period - no other reason than that - they will not vote for him in Nov.
Obama = McCain will be President - they are piling up the ammo against him every day.
Obama = no vote from me - ever - I have not been blinded by his "great words".

And last but not least - I know CNN won't post this since they too are part of the Obama machine - how much are you guys being paid by the way? Oh well, it was good to vent………

gerard morei   April 16th, 2008 5:13 pm ET

Obama is a big lair and his supporters are acccusing Hillary of being that. Why Mr. perfect does not show his taxes for the same years Hillary did?. Anything he dosn't want to show to us?. Now this is for the women that supports Obama: YOU COMPLAIN FOR THE LAST 30 YEARS THAT YOU ARE DISCRIMINATED AT ALL LEVELS OF WORK BECAUSE YOU NEVER GET THE TOP POSSITIONS AVAILABLE OR IF YOU GET THAT POSSITION YOU BEING PAID LESS THAT MEN. NOW YOU HAVE THE CHANCE TO ELECT A BRILLIANT WOMAN FOR THE MOST IMPORTANT JOB IN THE WORLD AND YOU TURN YOUR BACK ON HILLARY. PLEASE DO NOT COMPLAIN ANYMORE IF YOU ARE DISCRIMINATED, BECAUSE YOU HAVE YOUR CHANCE.

Interesting that Clinton has to provide tax returns and was attacked for not providing them in a timely fashion and Obama has a free ride in not having to provide all his tax returns. If all is equal they both need to provide the information.

But she`s hanging on wrong tactics….she is not the Hillary we knew as First-Lady….She is no more authentic or a Lady….She would have gain a lot, if she has been playing defense…but for a First-Lady to be going on attacking the same Democrat falsely…..Is going to backfire….Nobody want to see this….Hillary is no more talking about the issues, she wakes up everyday and thinks..How can we attack Obama today?…….People are suffering, losing thier houses, do not have health-care……Shame on her, Shame on her, Shame on her……
