Clinton campaign gets Weather Underground questions

Hillary Clinton speaks during Wednesday's ABC debate.
Hillary Clinton speaks during Wednesday's ABC debate.

(CNN) - The morning after Hillary Clinton attacked Barack Obama over his relationship with William Ayers, founder of Weather Underground, her campaign advisers struggled with questions over her view of pardons for members of that group issued by her husband, former President Bill Clinton.

On a conference call with reporters, spokesman Howard Wolfson said he did not know where the New York senator stood on the pardons, but that he would check.

The Obama campaign has responded to Clinton’s questions to the Illinois senator at Wednesday night’s ABC debate with press releases pointing to the former president’s pardons of Weather Underground members Susan Rosenberg and Linda Evans.

The group, which formed in the 1960s, sought the overthrow of the U.S. government, and carried out violent attacks including bombings.

That's what she gets. If anyone watched the debate, they should have seen her trying to fish those questions out after Obama answered them. She claimed Republicans would bring them up... no... HILLARY was trying to bring them up. Now she's in trouble when all he had to do was keep her hands out of the dirt and let the moderators do it for her. SHE WAS GOLDEN, BUT NO! SHE BLEW IT! So while Obama was taking on the media for blowing these things out of proportion, he took a side-swipe from Hillary and lashed back. Now she's looking suspicious.

Where does she stand on the pardons? I don't know... but what about FALN? Where does she stand on those pardons? How about the 2 cases of pardonings that Hillary's brothers were lobbying for and gained a significant compensation ($107,000 for Tony, $200,000 for Hugh)?

  2. Obama spin

Dredge up the past- that no longer applies.

To cover up the Obama present that is still going on.

Ayers made his comments of violence and hate in recent time.
Rev Wright held to his doctrine of hate for 40 years.

Clinton pardoned those who no longer held their former beliefs.
To forgive a repentant person is American and Christian.

To preach hate from the pulpit in neither.

    AZM,

That is quite the stretch from I worked on a board with Ayers to I am a militant, but then love is blind. Sooner rather than later you will realize that Hillary doesn't love you back, she is just using you.

ABC journalists need to learn from CNN and MSNBC journalist. Was that really a debate last night?

Hillary really can't run a campaign at all. She doesn't think before she speaks or jumps on a bandwagon. What she doesn't realize is that when she goes negative more and more of Obama's supporters donate.

Thanks Hillary you just let the right wing off the hook. They are going to blame fellow democrats about their ignorance.

I'm sorry but as a democrat I am sad. I am a black man that has been struggling to let other blacks know that you are a decent person. And we should always support both candidates. My phone has been ringing off the hook with the many "I told you so comments". I feel really stupid right now.

Your campaign continues to turn off the black community. Are you doing this on purpose?

And as far as the moderators asking questions of Obama. I don't have a problem with that...it's a debate. And those were questions that I wanted answered as well. But I thought as a moderators they are to remain neutral. Meaning they ask the questions and let the two debators argure their points. Both of the moderators seemed to be doing more interviewing than moderating. And sometimes combatative in doing so....maybe it just me but it seemed that Obama had to debate three people instead of one.

Also why is a former Clinton aide one of the moderators?

    Which is worse:

Sen. Obama sat on the board of a charity with a former member of the Weather Underground

    OR

The Clintons PARDONED two former members of the Weather Underground. In 1985, they were apprehended while transporting 740 pounds of explosives which they both acknowledged were slated for use in additional bombings. Rosenberg was sentenced to 58 years in prison, Evans 40; President Bill Clinton pardoned both women in January 2001.

The point being, that Obama's connection with Ayers is more than just tenuous. They were more than just neighbors or someone who he happened to just know. Yet, that's exactly what he told the nation last night at the debate.

The two individuals that were pardoned did their time and they did not make statements after 911 that they should have done more, there is a difference, this man never did any time and he made these statements after 911, why did the MSM not ask Obama about Ayers until ABC had the guts to do it, now they want to try and flip it as a Clinton Issue, Bill Clinton Pardoned them he was the President not Hillary Clinton, you can't have it both ways either she was an intricate part of the Administration or she was not, if she is going to take the bad, then she needs to get credit for the good also, which is it Obamabots and CNN which direction do you wanna go in, a pardon is not a friendship, when is Ayers going to do his time?

    Talk:Bill Ayers
    From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

When the senator and the unrepentant bomber served together on the Woods Fund board, the Fund awarded $6,000 to Jeremiah Wright's Trinity United Church "in recognition of Barack Obama's contributions of Woods Fund as a director." Later the Obama-Ayers board awarded a generous grant to the Arab-American Action Network. It's entirely possible that Barack Obama missed the board meetings when such awards were made. He says he missed Jeremiah Wright's incendiary sermons, too. The man has a gift for avoiding the wrong place at the right time.

Just like cnn to try and do damage control and deflect this news onto clinton. Well hillary could not pardon anyone and what bill did is no making on hillary. But obama did not answer the question and tried to avoid it all together. Just like bush would do spin and spin . The fact is that he dose have these personal ties to radicals and holds the views that our country is a bad country. He is a dangerius man and the sooner people wake up and see it the better off we will be for it. The media is the real blame here how noone will go after him for fear of being called a racist net work. The media sold us the bill of goods on the war the same way there credability is shot.

ABC did a horrific job. No questions of substance were asked. They turned to Sean Hannity of FOX fame (with the Clinton Camp's blessing) for help in composing the ridiculous questions they managed to come up with. Shame on ABC and George Stephanopoulis (he met with Hannity and actually took notes about the Ayers question).

The debate was an insult to thinking people every where, and a terrible waste of precious time, when real issues of economy, global warming, health care, the war, etc. could have been vetted.
