Clinton aides are saying Obama has a major advantage in the state.

WINSTON-SALEM, North Carolina (CNN) – Hillary Clinton's campaign Friday looked to lower expectations for the upcoming North Carolina primary, telling reporters that a Clinton win here on May 6 would be "the biggest upset of the century."

Ace Smith, the campaign's North Carolina state director, told a group of reporters at Wake Forest University that Obama "starts very strong here," an advantage owed to the state's Democratic cocktail of African-American voters and affluent, educated professionals concentrated around the Raleigh-Durham area.

With the heightened attention being paid to the primary, the state's Democratic voter rolls are swelling. Since January 1, nearly 110,000 North Carolinians have signed up to vote as Democrats in the semi-open primary, and nearly 69,000 have signed up as unaffiliated voters, according to the state board of elections.

In addition, more than 19,000 Republicans have switched parties and registered as either Democrat or unaffiliated in order to participate in the contest since the beginning of the year. Over 67,000 new African-American voters in North Carolina have registered over the same time period.

"Our measure of success is knocking this down to single digits," Smith said of the race, estimating that as many as 1.5 million people could vote in the contest, which will award 115 pledged delegates.

Asked if Clinton can win the primary, Smith said, "No, that would be the biggest upset of the century."

Earlier this year, Obama scored overwhelming victories in two bordering states with very similar demographics: South Carolina and Virginia.

Despite that, Smith was optimistic about the role unaffiliated voters – who can take part in the primary along with Democrats – will play in the contest.

He argued that Obama "has lost traction" among independent voters since the nomination fight began. Clinton and Obama ran roughly even among independent voters in the March 4 contests of Texas and Ohio.

Smith, who managed Clinton's operations in California and Texas, said the New York senator is looking to perform well in the eastern and western parts of the state, rural regions with small towns that have seen visits from former president Bill Clinton. The campaign has also run two television ads here.

Smith criticized Obama for hedging on whether or not he will agree to participate in another debate to be hosted in North Carolina, despite pressure from prominent local Democrats like Gov. Mike Easley and former Gov. Jim Hunt.

"He is looking to brush off the state of North Carolina," Smith said of Obama's reluctance to commit to a debate in the state.

If I had a liberal media behind me all day long I would get the nomination. You don't have to be a genius to figure this out . The elite media does not accept a woman for president. It could be white, green, black, blond, smart or stupid. They play the gender card. The women in this country can be mother, wife, attorney, first lady, Senator but not a president. This shows me that United States of America, the model of democracy for the whole world, will NEVER accept any woman for the higher position. And the America Women are so submissive to this idea that they will vote for.....

Clinton will not come close in NC and she is in a fight to hold on to what should have been an easy win PA. Come on Obama supports in PA; let's end this right now by suprising everyone and handing Obama a victory on April 22nd!

People forget that most of the polls survey 'likely voters' and these are people who have voted in several previous elections. As a result most polls ignor newly registered voters who are expected to overwhelmingly support Obama.

INOTC (If Not Obama Then Clinton) – Let's not hand the Reps an election we should easily win.

Debate, Debate, Debate – just too much. Let's focus on the issues instead of dragging on for some cheap publicity.

Democrats need time to recoop in order to defeat McCain in November.

Wrap this thing up for God's sake.

Why vote for someone that was born with a gold spoon in their mouth. If you all complain about the rich, then why vote for some one born rich? OB was born like us. Clintion is a big lie and the Black community isnt standing behind her. Repbulicans will vote for her, then when it Hillary vs McCain, McCain wins!! Why they know Barack will walk all up and down McCain again, and again, and again.

Vote for someone with a Gold spoon in their mouth just dont complain when the 3rd bush term starts. If McCain wins Gas will it $6 bucks his second year.

Hillary Clinton in her spin against Barack Obama is appealing to the elitist who obvious do not know who God is. STOP IT ALREADY Please do not listen to such low down duty spin from Clinton McCann and Romney they all speak a forky tongue to wheel you into their evil web spin. It has become obvious that these three do not have any common decency or principles Look at Romney he spent some 60 Million of his own money and didn't even get to first base, he would do better if he just keep his mouth closed and be neutral I believe I could of done as well as he did without spending any money. They are all in the backward court high on themself and the pathetic thing is that they are so out of it they don't even reconignize what evil has fallen upon them. They are simply dead to right and wrong. putting themselves high on the pedestal for the great fall. Serve them and all like them right for they have earned it all. Again Barack Obama is the best of them all and all the people who follow behind that which is evil will have to stand before God. Let not you heart be troubled if you believe in God believe also in me. Do unto to others as you wish them do unto you. I beg of you in prayer please, please do not fall prey to the evil spin that is put before you, God has sent us a man who have demonstrated he have the vision and know how to bring people together in a way that is good, please take a good honest look at your self go for that which is mostly in your best interest. henriettap   April 18th, 2008 11:54 pm ET

Hillary will do in North Carolina as she did in South Carolina as soon as she sees that she is really losing she will be out of there on a fast plane she did not even stay around long enough to tell the people there thanks for their votes. She is already trying to play her pitiful roll. While one member of her staff went ot Canada last week you haven't heard that being discussed in the media. She is still saying she has 35 years of experience I guess she has gone from forgetful to amnesia. And while she is talking of Obama getting out of the kitchen if he can't stand the heat ,I suppose she was in there to long when Bill was there and thats why he had so much freedom to do as he pleased with the White House interns .Hillary should try discussing policies more and stop acting like she has a reservation for the oval office.

JacknJill   April 18th, 2008 11:53 pm ET

The only upset that a Hillary win in NC would bring is
an UPSET Country and Democratic Party that Clinton's STILL want back in the White House!
Just stop it already!
You had your 8 years.
Now it's time to say bye bye, Hillary & Bill!

Keith Cornelius   April 18th, 2008 11:52 pm ET

Hillary, will win by a larger margin then the polls show, just like she did in NH, MA, NJ and so on. All these states had Obama way ahead and he lost by large margins. HGillary will win PA and IN and close the gap in NC......Carter endorses Obama need I say more...this country is in very big trouble if he gets the nomination because you will then definately have another Republican in th WH and the republicans know this. As far as some of these endorsements for Obama please, they are looking for a politcal appointment...Richardson is looking for the VP spot which is so obvious...These people were made becasue of the Clinton presidency and the success of the clinton administration, otherwise you would not even know who these people are which I would suspect most of the obama supporters don't....they don't even know about there own candidate....HOW SAD................GO HILLARY 08

Brian   April 18th, 2008 11:52 pm ET

Hillary is not a "come from behind" candidate. She was apparently a "shoe-in" for the nod. Listen, I will vote Democrat either way this turns out, but come on....Hillary needs to get at least one stance straight during the primaries. Are you or Obama complaining about media treatment? Do you support NAFTA? Were you or were you not the front runner at one point? I have no doubt she is a good politician.....but maybe that's the problem. She's a liar and a bad person.

Marc   April 18th, 2008 11:51 pm ET

Make history vote this woman into the White House we will have leadership that will change the world for the better.

Again it's about race!   April 18th, 2008 11:37 pm ET

Is it really, again, about "the state's Democratic cocktail of African-American voters"? Not about issues - and Hillary's continually SPELLED OUT programs - NO - again about the African American vote! How sad! So now we're deciding the election on an "African-Americn "cocktail"? How very, very significant to our country's success!

1. SNIPER FIRE=DIRECT AND DELIBERATE LIE TO THE AMERICAN PEOPLE-HE STILL GOES AROUND AND SAID SHE IS OLD AND TIRED SO THATS WHY THE MISTAKE=ANOTHER LIE TO SUPPORT AN EARLIER LIE
2. HOSPITAL STORY ABOUT WOMEN THAT DIED=TURNED OUT TO BE FALSE YET SHE WENT AROUND THE WHOLE COUNTRY TO SUPPORT HER HEALTH CARE PLAN WITH THIS MISTRUTH
3. BILL CLINTON LIED ABOUT MONICA LEWINSKY ON NATIONAL TELEVISION DIRECTLY TO THE AMERICAN PEOPLE. HE SAYS ORAL SEX IS NOT SEX, THAT WAS HIS EXCUSE.
4. TRY TO APPEAR AS THE POPULIST AND YET SUPPORTED NAFTA WITH HER HUSBAND WHO SIGNED IT.
5. TRYING TO SAY OBAMA IS ELITIST=ANOTHER LIE SHE KNOWS ITS NOT TRUE.

NOW COMPARE THIS TO THE SILLY "BITTER" COMMENT. THERE IS NO COMPARISON.

SHE REPEATED IT SO MANY TIMES. TRIED TO DENY IT, UNTIL THE TAPE CAME OUT.

Clinton complains that Obama needs to "toughen up", I say to you Hillary don't transfer the weaknesses that you have for your husband on the campaign trail. Tell Bill about it, Obama is not your husband. Get a life with Bill, not with voters. I can understand your anger because I had the same problems you had with a husband, but it was me who "toughen up" on my own, not with the husband that caused the problem. Hillary has a serious problem, and it ain't Obama.

thisniss   April 18th, 2008 11:23 pm ET

Obama will win NC because NC got screwed over by the Clinton administration by the 90's, and because all the voters here are tired of being written off as "unimportant" or in some way less than "genuine democrats" because we're not voting for her. Instead of describing us as demographics (african americans and educated voters, which, yeah, we are), how about looking at the fact that we just happen to think Obama is the better candidate? Before John Edwards dropped out, he was leading in NC, with Clinton and Obama roughly tied. People here aren't voting by demographic, they're voting for the person who will do the best job for us as President.

We are *also* voting for the candidate who is most likely to help our "downticket" races in the fall. Regardless of how the rest of the country sees us, NC is a true "purple" state, and the right Democratic candidate can help expand our Congressional delegation, help us replace Liddy Dole in the Senate, and – believe it – turn our state "blue" in the Presidential election, too. Clinton offers us NONE of those possibilities. She will polarize support for Republican candidates here, and will hurt all democrats running for office. But Obama will help all the NC Dems, and he also stands a very good chance of defeating McCain here in the fall, too.

So please stop telling us that NC is voting on our demographics, or because we're some kind of Obama "cultists." NC voters are supporting Obama in such great numbers because we are smart and rational, and it's only too clear that he is the best choice for our state and our country.

Wow, the ugly never stops on this blog. We have two great candidates to choose from and we are fighting like cats and dogs. I have my favorite but I am sick of the hatred I see on the blogs. Both campaigns have strong arguments to why they should get the nomination. The popular vote that separates them is around .04%. Plus the popular vote is not how the primary/causus system works. So, the way I see it both sides are going to scream the other camp "
stole" the nomination. And the DNC has alot of blame in this process.

Hillary is supposed to win Pennsylvania. She was supposed to win in by double digits, at one point early on by 30, and now she is down to 5, and could lose the state because she is out of touch with the real people. Those would be the ones who have lost their jobs, medical insurance, homes and cars and are "BITTER". Those people need to go to the polls and vote for their only chance, OBAMA! And for those fools who decide not to vote for the Democratic platform can simply do without health insurance and eventually their homes. To think one would not be bitter with our government's forgeting these people, but our goverment is there to support the big business' even though they have created this situation for the home owners is ridiculous!

Hillary by all standards human, it would appear that ther is in your game – no shame. You have said from your own mouth that your worthy opponent is capable of leading the country and beating McCain. Why thenare you still tearing at the fiber of the Democratic party?
By yourr own admission, you have sounded the knell for withdrawal. It would seem you do not know how to bow out. Simple! Say, "Senator Obabam it has been quite a challenge trying to prick your tires. They are well insulated. See you in you years! That will give me more time to prepare and gain valued experience. Thanks for all you have done for my early 2012 campaigning." Sharon Minnesota-

You are seriously one something. Trying reading facts!Obama has picked up 5 superdelegates in the past 2 days. He is down by what 15 or so superdelegates. He was down by 30+ a few months ago. SHE IS NOT WINNING IN POPULAR VOTE OR STATES WON! Get your head out of Hillary's butt. She may win PA but not by much I guarantee it. They can poll adults with home phones all they want to....dont underestimate people like me (22 years old) who cannot be polled because we have cell phones not home phones. The movement in Pittsburgh for Barack is overwhelming.

ALL ALONE....I have swayed my dad to change from Republican to vote Obama. My mom is voting Obama. My Cousin changed from Independent to vote Obama. My 2 brothers. 1 of my best friends and 7 co workers. And besides my parents we are all under 28 years old.

Folks, let's get a grip. We don't know anything about Obama. We need someone who's going to get us out of the Bush mess, not create another one. His lofty ideas can only work with a pragmatist. It's time for a women to fix things. Give her a chance.

Ryan   April 18th, 2008 10:55 pm ET

Of course it would be an upset if she wins in NC, but not the biggest. Obama will have a huge upset if he keeps gainingin PA where she was up by double digits.
Im also tired of people complaining about Florida and Michigan. Obama was not on the ballot so he could not even be voted for and both decided not to run in Florida so why would it be counted.

Indiana Bob   April 18th, 2008 10:53 pm ET

Of course NC will go for Obama. With blacks voting 90% for the black candidate, Hillary can't win southern states on political issues. Most Democrats in southern states are black. She can't change her race in this racist campaign. Of course those same southern states that Obama is winning handily, and gave him the lead in deligates, will vote Republican in the general. Of course many big name politicians are backing Obama so they can secure the black vote for their own political future. Hillary would have been the Democratic nominee until Obama made this a racist campaign and stole the primary. That won't work in the general. Unlike Hillary, the Republicans will not hesitate to fight racism with racism. If Obama wins, the Democratics lose in the general.

What is he going to do against McCain in the general election? Maybe they can give him a teleprompter so he can actually hold his own in a debate?

Anonymous   April 18th, 2008 10:51 pm ET

How long will the press continue to think they can decide this race? Just another Hillary slam and another love sonnet to Obama. Let's face it people...if Obama manages to get the nomination, say welcome to President McCain. Obama will not will the general election against anyone, period. I ALWAYS vote democrat and I've decided that if Obama does get the nomination I will have to vote against him and vote for McCain. The idea makes me sick but I see no other choice. Obama is not only an elitist but is FAR from ready to run this country. Where's the experience? I haven't seen nearly enough yet and I've reviewed his credentials again and again. Thanks to the press, we're looking now at at least 4 if not more years of a Republican in the White House. Why can't they stop all this bashing and negative Hillary reporting and let the PEOPLE decide for themselves. So sad, how easily the people of this country are swayed by the talking heads.

Jim B   April 18th, 2008 10:51 pm ET

Did you ever see the Monty Python scene in which a hapless knight battles to a completely limbless state, and still pitifully calls out challenges and insults as the victor move on? Mrs. Clinton must finally see her situation for what it is, abd walk away with her dignity while she still can.

Washington, DC   April 18th, 2008 10:51 pm ET

I started as a semi-Hillary supporter because I thought, because I am a woman, I "should" support her. To anyone reading this, especially if you are undecided, please DO NOT FALL for her spin, her politics, her inauthentic self. We have a rare opportunity to elect a man of the finest intelligence, of real moral character, who has good policies for all Americans and plans to make them a reality in the lives of all. Obama is the President of the people, for the people and will stand with the people to bring our great nation to a refreshingly "new place in the 21st century" - The Clintons did some very good things in the 90's, but truthfully it wasn't all good and done by them. The economy is very cyclical and parts of it are largely out of the control of the President. You have to look at policy, and leadership and I hope all undecided people, and anyone reading this who is already decided, really thinks about what kind of opportunity we have before us - it's time for a new politics in Washington. Do not go for more of the same old, same old by supporting Clinton. It's not that she's horrible - she isn't, we simply have a better choice. Obama 08.

Mark   April 18th, 2008 10:50 pm ET

The only true surprise is the alleged (crowned) nominee of the democratic party has been kicked in many state elections and is trailing with no hope of catching up at this point...now that is an upset. And please knock the crap off on Michigan and Florida votes not being counted since they broke the rules that set up long before the election, but I guess people tend to forget about that fact. And as I recall...one candidate wasn't on the ballot, i.e, in Michigan.

And lastly, all those little states do add up not just winning the big ones.

Jeff   April 18th, 2008 10:48 pm ET

Clinton people...its over. Sure, you're having fun posting this ridiculousness, much of it grossly distorted.

Its funny how the supporters of a candidate tend to behave similar to their candidate.
Clinton supporters post inaccurate numbers, distortions, and "name calling" on a regular basis.
They believe Michigan's delegates should be counted even though the primary would then have been held under false pretense.

Please, folks, when Clinton doesn't win 75% of the vote in Pennsylvania and gets even closer to the realm of impossibility, start pressuring your candidate to end her run. As it stands, she needs nearly every SuperDelegate in order to win. Meanwhile, she's bleeding SuperDel's.

Geo   April 18th, 2008 10:45 pm ET

Clinton continues to make a fool of herself. Clinton can say whatever she wants to say. The bottom line is people do not trust her. After this mess, the people of NY will not want her back. I can't blame them. She made a bunch of false promises there too.

Honestly people. I understand the whole thing about thinking Obama is a "change" we need. BUT is he the RIGHT change we NEED? I come from a small community and attend a rather small church NOTHING like the HUGE church Obama does. But, we all still talk about sermons or things that go in our church. Do you honestly believe, even tho he says he wasn't in church, (but also wants us to believe he is a weekly church go-erand very involved with the church as well as his family) that he didn't speak to ANYONE in the congregation about the vile remarks his FRIEND, FAMILY ADVISOR, AND PASTOR made? Correct me if I am wrong, when Wright made those comments, wasn't he IN office as a senator? Representing the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA? The same America that Wright blamed for 9/11?? How in the hell do you NOT hear that from your fellow parishoners and friends? especially if you are soooo involved in that church. And WHY would you want your children to listen to such crap? The same country you preach you and your family owe so much to? I'm sorry, you don't respect, befriend, listen to someone like that and NOT believe what he's preaching. And if you don't, you distance yourself from that person. We had a priest who said some very ignorant things about some parishoners in our church. And you know what? A bunch of us were offended by his remarks and changed churches until he left. We now have a wonderful caring priest who Loves God and this country AND all people. He sees no-one differently and does NOT think America caused 9/11. Come on people, step out of your box and think things thru. Do we honestly want someone like that leading our country?

Cherie   April 18th, 2008 10:34 pm ET

Hey Obama Supporters...what's he paying you? A penney per post?
Because, really...I cant think of one good reason to elect this man..Let's see, he attends a racist and anti-American church (but, you all make excuses and turn a blind eye), He aligns himself with crooks and former terrorists (but, that's ok too!), He basically says that small town people are so bitter that they turn to guns, religion and racisim (but, really what he's trying to say is that we are so stupid that we cant think of anything else to vent our frustrations), and He has a wife who has said she has NEVER been proud of this country, until now! (But, you'll excuse that too!), What has he truly accomplished? Can you name something really life changing for the people of this country? I bet you cant......sooooo, stop drinking the kool-aid and stop living in his Fantasy world!

Debate Fatigued   April 18th, 2008 10:34 pm ET

What???? Another debate???? Isn't 21 MORE THAN SUFFICIENT? (or is it 22?)

If people still have not made up their minds who to support or know the positions of each candidate by the over 20 debates that have ALREADY been nationally and internationally televised, plus all the information on their respective positions on the important issues that matter to the American people from the official websites of the candidates, plus all the news stories (biased or not, do your own research), then America is in deep trouble!

The "debates" are becoming a national entertainment, especially when non-issues are considered "topics to discuss, debate & inform" such as the ABC sponsored "debate".

DemocracyNow2008   April 18th, 2008 10:34 pm ET

Hillary is hoping to win North Carolina but she is about 3-4 points only in PA's latest Polls .

I guess Pennsylvania will not be a big win so she's moving on to say North Carolina is the important State to win.

Then if she loses her supporters will say its not that important.

Obama will win big in North Carolina and maybe even upset her in Pennsylvania.

What happened to a big win in PA?

Not Happening and Obama will pick up alot of delegates in both States.

Obama 08/12

Susan / PA   April 18th, 2008 10:32 pm ET

sharon,

Mich and Fl broke the rules all on there own...the delegates will be seated in some form in August...but the actual votes wont count.

I refuse to teach my grandchildren that it is OK to break the rules and then be rewarded.

Both states broke the rules and have NO right in the outcome of this race..period.

FrankSZ   April 18th, 2008 10:31 pm ET

Wait, she is already talking about NC? What happened to PA?

Isn't this like someone who looses every game and keep saying, "wait until the next one" ?

If USA would have a 100 states she wouldn't stop, even if she would be down to the 99th one.

I have a suggestion: Get out of the D-party and form a new one called the "Clintonites". See how far you go with that one.

Anonymous   April 18th, 2008 10:30 pm ET

I'm tired of hearing about Hillary Clinton's so-called "experience" when dealing with this country's problems.

What experience has Hillary had being president?

Almost as valid as her under sniper fire.

Mariann Pepitone   April 18th, 2008 10:25 pm ET

The Truth: Take this. If Obama wins the presidency he better be sure he is well protected because we have had only white people as our president.. And there may be people out there just waiting for that. JFK once said he wasn't going to hide from the public because if someone wants you bad enough they will get you sooner or later. And if he doesn't get the nomination will the blacks riot and tear up the area's because he lost? That't their way of life. If they don't get what they want there goes the neighborhood.

I can honestly say I am sick to death of this 'Primary'. Every day that it drags on and allows the Republicans to run an actual Presidential Campaign while this idiocy continues is another day that the Democrats don't have to put together a platform to defeat McCain.

And I think that's Hillary's goal actually. If she can't be President she'll drag it out until the Democrats have no hope of victory and then say " I told you so" in 4 years.

IF BARACK AND MICHELLE OBAMA'S BAGGAGE CARRIES INTO NORTH CAROLINA BECAUSE OF THE "BITTER" COMMENTS OF BARACK AND HIS WIFE, A HILLARY VICTORY THERE WOULD BE THE BIGGEST UPSET INDEED.. JOHN EDWARDS ENDORSEMENT
WOULD OF COURSE BE OF THE GREATEST HELP, BUT HE IS VERY SMART NOT TO HAVE ENDORSED EITHER CANDIDATE
UNLIKE THE OTHER TWO AMBITIOUS TURNCOATS RIXHARDSON AND REICH.

Mariann Pepitone   April 18th, 2008 10:10 pm ET

I really don't care about the people in North Carolina, I am not from there and certainly glad that my parents didn't settle in those kind of states. States like NC and SC are so messed up they were not aware of the fact that Obama was mixed up with Ayers & Ayres who went underground because of bombing and were wanted by the feds. He was an attorney for a corrupt businessman and I wouldn't doubt that Obama received thousands in cash that was not reported to the IRS. Going to a racist church with an anti-american pastor who hates white people should be enough evidence for whites to vote for Hillary or McCain. However, this generation of college kids who are on drugs and booze themselves like Obama was don't care about America and don't care that deep down inside Obama is really racial against the white people. He does a good job hiding it from the public and they fall hook and ladder in whatever he says. Even if his speeches are copied from RFK whose book he received from a friend of his. What a background for a candidate running for the presidency of this country and a mess this country will be in if he is elected. Because I would not vote for him if that happens I can just sit back and laugh at the fools.

Marie in California   April 18th, 2008 10:10 pm ET

Go Hillary!

I'm a lifelong Democrat but I would never vote for Obama under any circumstances, so if he gets the nomination my vote will go to McCain.

Now, should that happen, my right hand might fall off when I pull the lever for a Republican....but, as I tell myself, a hand is such a very small sacrifice to make for the good of my country.

No Obamination in the Presidency!

Edgar   April 18th, 2008 10:09 pm ET

Shannon   April 18th, 2008 10:08 pm ET

I'm just wondering if it would be possible for an Obama supporter to post a comment without name calling or hurling insults. If you are part of the politics of hope and change, I want none of it. Hope and change must mean different things to people, because the hate and name calling I see from the Obama supporters makes me ashamed to be a Democrat.

Sheila WA   April 18th, 2008 10:07 pm ET

To all those overly sensitive folks who claim they were offended by Obama's bitter remarks, he was correct. The GOP have become experts on taking our livelyhoods (jobs) away and point fingers at the liberals and Dems by blaming them for being anti-god, pro-choice, anti-school vouchers, anti-gun, ect...They have been using (12yrs) these things that people do care about as wedge issues all the while doing nothing about turning our manufacturing towns into rust belts or fixing our healthcare.. He may have not used the best words to articulate this message, but his message was spot on. So don't be bitter at Obama for pointing this out, he want's you to know that these con-men don't deserve our votes or confidence. We need to unite as a party. If you don't like Hillary or Obama and you just can't vote for them, write in your candidate..McCain doesn't deserve your vote because he is more of the same no matter how many times he flip flops..He is trying to pull the same stunt Reagan did with the Dems in 80 and you see where the Reagan revolution has gotten us today. Not to mention the horrible joke he told a GOP meeting about Chelsea and her parentage.. He doesn't deserve one Dem vote.

Rise Hillary Rise??? She's not capable of it! She brings herself and this country DOWN by her tactics. It's really too bad, because she's a pretty smart lady in some ways, just not about politics, specifically loyalty to her fellow Democrats. Should McCain beat Obama in the fall, you can place a huge part of the blame on Hillary. She wants it SO bad that she doesn't give a hoot about the country.
If she would only leave the stage with some dignity....

Clinton supporters, when Senator Clinton accepts inevitable defeat and urges you to vote Obama, will you then still consider voting McCain? Even when the candidtae you so vehemently support begs you not to?

Clinton will continue to do great work in the Senate and definitely will back Obama wholeheartedly. Obama will sweep McCain in November by a landslide. We will finally have a president who is universally respected.

Thanks, Gary. The only problems with your arguments are: (1) the largest African-American voting segment are women; (2) I didn't receive the memo that the African-American vote was something to be despised, minimalized and jeered at (I guess the Clinton Camp forgot to copy us on it after our historically 30% democratic share elected her husband to the presidency twice); (3) Clinton, as the household name candidate, is very much known. Before you start foaming at the mouth with delight, I suggest checking the national polls to gauge what the overall electorate "knows" about her and how that is working out for her in terms of electability; and (4) Your Eau de Clinton "scent" eminates through my computer screen, starting with your overzealous use of capital letters and ending with your penchant for poor spelling, grammar, and incomplete sentences.

A final thought, Gary–this message was brought to you by one of those "laughable" black voters and unless the Emancipation Proclamation and the Civil Rights Voting Act have been repealed absent my knowledge, my vote is just as relevant and powerful as yours.

Congratulations on your efforts to desecrate the democratic process!!

Another thing the mainstream media refuses to cover because it just so happens to be good new for Clinton – former New Jersey Governors Jim Florio and Brendan Byrne pledged their support to Hillary Clinton today, after being chosen Thursday as add-on superdelegates. Their show of support comes the same day US Rep. Betty Sutton announced she too would support Clinton as a superdelegate.

Three superdelegates in one day. But all the press can say is the SDs are moving toward Obama. Apparently not ALL of them are moving that way.

Do you know that the famous Maya Angelou who is most admired by Oprah is supporting Hillary and she even introduced her at a live event in North Carolina today. Just imagine. Maya would not have thrown her support behind Hillary if she did not have confidence and trust in Hillary's character.

Mary   April 18th, 2008 9:48 pm ET

You must be a fighter to be President of United States, so that means elect Hillary Clinton, because Obama is weak and not ready.

Superdelegates get it right-Hillary is electable and Obama isn't electable. Hillary 08 or a mistake

Indiana we need you to vote for Hillary. It will take all of us to over take Obama and put Hillary in the White House. We must do that or we will elect McCain. Indiana you are very important to this election, Help us so that the following states can make Hillary President.

North Carolina don't let Obama take you for granted. Your vote is as important as anyones vote and the Hillary camp would love to include you in our count. You are a valueable state so be took for granted. Hillary will fight for you and for your vote,

Hillary 08 or a big MISTAKE.

It would be the second biggest upset, Clinton.

The Pennsylvania upset (your loss of a 20 point lead) was the first.

I'd ask you to bow out while you had some dignity left, but that point is LONG gone.

MD in CT: You accused Senator Clinton of having a pastor who molested a seven-year-old girl. It took me less than 30 seconds to Google the name of the pastor and find out that he has been called "a former Clinton pastor" because he was a pastor in the town of Clinton, NY (named for George Clinton, first governor of the state of NY). There is no connection whatsoever between the man you wrote about and either Senator Clinton or President Clinton. You are unbelievably stupid.

Jenn   April 18th, 2008 9:46 pm ET

If your voting for a candidate due to their age, gender or color then you should not be voting. You need to close your eyes & listen to what is going on. It should not matter who celebs. are voting for or is better looking. I have not heard any solutions from Obama he just states the obvious of what is wrong with this country, he does not believe in america, how can anyone vote for someone who goes to a church that preaches hate, does not have anything to do with our flag until scandal breaks out. its seems everyone turns a blind eye to everything negative about this man. He just says what his advisers tell him to say, just like all the other politicians running for office, I think the debate last night proved that when he didn't have the questions in advance for his advisors to write the answers for him. Wonder if he writes he own speeches(probably not). Wake up people they all lie to get what they want. Yes even your god Obama. Lets face it anyone who can bad mouth their own Grandmother & turn his back on her after she raised him can turn his back on anyone & he supposedly loves his Grandmother.

California Voter   April 18th, 2008 9:45 pm ET

After Obama's less than stellar performance in the most recent debate I'm not surprised he doesn't want to debate in NC. He does best given his inspirational sermons, where no one can question him. He crumbles under pressure and then tries to brush it off the next day as a trivia event. Character matters and if you believe that Obama knew nothing about Rev. Wright's inflammatory comments then you should educate yourself a little about the TUCC. Go to their website.

Obama.....the empty promises of change. The over used statement "old politics". His elitist comments his shady connections, the questions about his patriotism....we can go on and on. He is fortunate he has so many people brainwashed. His followers don't care what he does, good or bad, they love him. I don't get it.

NOT!!! – I am actually disgusted. I was once placed in the unfortunate situation of being very close to an actual shooting. The fear that grips you before you fall for cover is one that will never ever leave you. Trust me when I say this – it takes a psychotic mind to stand in front of a camera and tell millions of people such a blatant lie.

Dori in AZ   April 18th, 2008 9:41 pm ET

Why is it they keep telling us that "affluent, educated professionals" tend to vote for Obama, and not for Clinton, like that's a bad thing? Hillary not being able to draw that group seems to be a negative for her, as they represent a sizable segment of the American public.

Some polls separate out African-American voters as an entity based entirely on race, not taking into account that many are affluent, educated professionals. The Clintons have prided themselves on their ability to reach minority voters in all economic ranges. If that's true, African-American voters in North Carolina should also be within reach.

Sometimes this campaign reminds me of a civil war. Enough of the divide and conquer mentality. We need to come together to find solutions to the very real and disturbing issues in our country while we still can. We need a leader of substance.

Obama 2008! Si se puede!

Hillary PEOPLE, Take one primary at a time, OK? Go ahead and win Pennsylvania, enjoy the win and move on to lose in N.C. That's just the way it is meant to be. An upset, is probably not in the cards..

Why would Obama want to put himself through that tortuous debate process again? Number 1, it was stupid, the questions were useless, the result was not positive for really, either of the candidates OR the party and it just keeps helping the Republicans.

They have done enough debates, Obama just needs to campaign and be out there for people to get to know. Hillary is the only one who has the potential to benefit from any further debates. So give it up!

typical whitey   April 18th, 2008 9:39 pm ET

Hey, Obama supporters. You don't know this (unless you are one of the bullies) but Obama supporters have stolen several states with their hate and intimidation tactics. You can deny it all you want but those of you who have attended Caucuses know they are NOT democratic to say the least. Rules were broken, doors locked and Hillary supporters getting spat upon. NASTY group you are. That is precisely why this independent will vote for McCain over Obama. No, not out of spite but because McCain is a true hero and true American to the blood. This democratic primary season has been a disgrace.
And Fresh Flower (that sounds like an intelligent person) – there are smart, educated people for each and every candidate. Too bad you are so blinded to think all Hillary supporters are dumb and Obama supporters are smart. Grow up.

Jacob S   April 18th, 2008 9:32 pm ET

I fail to see the point in Clinton even staying in this anymore. She needs a huge, huge majority of pledged delegates in every remaining contest(as in she needs to do better than she's expected to do in PA in every remaining state) in order to catch up there, and she's all of 20-30 superdelegates ahead. She's lucky nowadays to get 2 superdelegates in a week while Obama gets a good 10 or so in that same timeframe. I think that if superdelegates heed Dean's call to decide sooner rather than later, if Obama wins even 35-40% of them the contest is his to lose. At this point he needs less than 50% of the remaining delegates to win while Hillary needs over 60%, and with every superdelegate that switches from her to uncommitted or Obama and every contest where she loses, that 60% goes up while Obama's 40something % goes down.

Anonymous   April 18th, 2008 9:29 pm ET

NC is not a big state, Hillary herself said that little states don't count, what's important is gib states, so why is she so wooried about her victory in NC since this little state doesn't count ?

She'd better pull her forces in PA, that's the remaining biggest state she must win by a double digit since she started over there with a double lead over Obama.

Why suddenly NC would be an amzing victory, the "Century Victory" for her when she sasy little states don't count.

When John Edwards left the race, it wasn't because he wanted to leave, it was because he knew that he couldn't win anymore, the 2 remaining candidates were stronger.

Hillary has to admit herself that Barack has energized the DC party much more than her, people are payning attention to him much more than her. For the god of our party, PA must be her last run, a small victory for her in PA should make her understand that forcing and continuing this race will only be to tear the party down, to lead the democrats to demonizing each other, instead of coming together to win in November with the help of Republicans and Independts.

I know Hillary is smarter than that, I pray that she'll let her heart guide her path, instead of her personal ans self interestq.

Clintonistas, you mean like Sandanistas and Zapatistas? I love how the supporters of the status quo, the Washington insiders, try and position themselves as this 'insurrgent' campaign, that is fighting this uphill battle as the underdog. Bill Clinton was a two term President. This is his wife, a smart, articulate, conniving and back-stabbing opportunist who will as we have seen do anything, say anything to win, even if it hurts her party's nominee in the fall. There is something more cynical going on here, and perhaps you can see it if you try. The only way that the Clintons get back in the White House is if John McCain wins this election and they (Billary) run against his Vice-President (cause he's not going for two terms) in 2012. If Barack gets in he's going two terms for sure, and that means the end of the dynasty for the Clintons. They know that they are not going to get this nomination. Sam Nunn and other superdelegates are joining Obama's National Security Advisory Team. Google Sam Nunn if you want to know whose really powerful in this country from a political and corporate sense. The Clintons are thinking of themselves first and they are willing to risk four more years of Bush policies to get what they want...those nice evening strolls in the rose garden, with friends.

Hillary is smart enough to know NC has a lot of Black people. For Obama to lose there would indeed be an upset. The Blacks are for the black guy period. Obama will have to have a white man as a VP if he has any hope of winning in November. All the Blacks in all the states are not enough to win in November.

Ever since the debate it has become quite clear to me that some Americans are just plain threatened by a strong, intelligent, capable female. It seems that people have become quite upset that Senator Clinton upstaged Senator Obama, how dare she. Rather than see that she is a strong candidate they continue to demean and vilify her. Rather than look or listen to what she is offering the American people to help us out of the debacle this administration has put us in we would rather call her a liar, evil, negative. Because she can go toe to toe with Obama and look so sharp and Presidential doing so, the media and racist people are at fault. It's funny because Obama and his supporters have constantly yelled about Senator Clinton acting like she is entitled to the nominiation but in fact it is Obama who seems to feel he should just be given the office, Forget an election, install Obama.

CNN, it would be nice if you post at least one of my post. Thank you.

These debates are an utter waste of time! How many times do we have to see the same pedantic performance in order to provide Hillary Clinton with free advertising. Now, she's moaning about Obama outspending her in Pennsylvania – maybe its because people are contributing money to his campaign!! Duh!
Every primary is an "important " one for her as the goalposts get moved further and further into the stands.
Wake up, Hillary, the country doesn't need you, doesn't want you and Bill and you should ride off into the sunset.

I am curious to see what happens after this weekend.

If Hillary doesn't finish in the double-digits in Pennsylvania, will she drop out then?

Or is she going to drag this all the way to the convention?

Like McCain, I think she realizes this is her last shot at it.

After this debacle, no one will even think of nominating her in 2008 or 2012.

I would not be surprised if all the dirt about her that has aired in this process is used against her in NY and a well-funded Republican challenger ousts her from the Senate.

Perhaps upstate NY could finaly emerge from its perpetual depression...

Punch and Judy

It's not merely a simple bribe when the president for personal financial gain advances special interests and annoints powerful lobbyists to inform and influence executive orders and decisions. The president, as leader of the party, validates political practices that extend beyond the White House. A stealth machine or a dark cobweb of laws and politics is secured in place to concentrate power in the few, thereby systematizing abuses and reducing the strength of the democratic political process. Voting the wrong president brings about the dis-empowerment of the majority.

A political Punch-and-Judy show to launch Hillary as the puppet president is more than just a ruinous distraction at a time of domestic economic peril and moral bankruptcy abroad, it is the sell-out of American democracy.

Sad & Disappointed (This has chnaged my vote!)   April 18th, 2008 9:17 pm ET

DOES ANYONE ELSE FEEL THAT HILARY SEEMS TO HAVE A GREAT DISDAIN FOR BARRACK??

Politics has always been referred to as dirty. I have witnessed periods of disagreement – but this to me seems personal.

I was originally convinced that Hillary would get my vote. Unfortuately, I noticed that Hillary – more often than any other person – or system attack Barrack for anything – I am talking all the way back to Iowa. To me – she seemed to feel Barrack to be unworthy in general – not just of being in the racem but as a person. I just don't feel any person – regardless of who or what they are or where the have been or where they came from should be treated so disrespectfully. I feel that Hilary has been disrepectful – hateful – unprofessional – and deceitful in her dealings in this race and in her attacks on her opponent. It makes me very sad to say this – and it is so disappointing. If she does not respect him for what ever reason why would she repect anyone who disagrees with her – why would she respect anyone who is different in anyway.

Barrack is not perfect!!!! I do feel he has been more reationary to the attacks and on the defense.

McCain is not perfect!!!! The difference I see with McCain – when he discusses Barrack it seems to be more around the issues than about Barrack as a person.

North Carolina will go to Barack Obama by double digits. I would not be surprised if they call the state when the polls close.

Since Texas and Ohio, I stopped reading the comments because they were depressing. I don't know why I thought today's comments would be any better. Howard Dean wants a decision by July 1. Why? It appears that supporters on both sides won't be able to reconcile before the general election. Might as well take it to the convention. It won't matter. The democrats are not going to win if supporters of both camps keep spewing hateful rhetoric at one another. Frankly, it ticks me off to read it. I am ashamed of all of it. Take the high road people. This is freaking ridiculous and is going to accomplish nothing. On second thought, it will accomplish a Republican victory in November!!!! Is that what you all want? Another 4 years of Bush policy? If Hillary is not the nominee, then I will write her name in on my ballot. I have always voted for the Democratic candidiates but if Clinton is not the nominee then in this general election I will vote her as a write-in candidiate. I am tired of the Democratic party sticking us with loser nominees. Middle America and key swing states are not going to support the liberal candidiate they need someone who is more moderate and who understands and respects their values. I am tired of my party picking the more liberal candidiate without giving consideration to who can actually win the vital swing states (Ohio, Florida, TN, AK, OK, NH, NM, MI, and PA).

Write-in Hillary in Nov. if Obama steals this nomination.

Dear Hillary Supporters, I understand your love for Hillary and as they say love can be blind sometimes. There are a large number of American people who want to change the face of politics and start focusing on the issues. That's old politics and it has gotten us george bush – focusing on fear, negativity and making empty promises. Unfortunately, this is the only brand of politics that the Clintons know. Yes, they both are very bright, but they lack the vision and integrity to address America's problems. Don't you understand how tied in they are to rich special interest groups? How do you think they accumulated their $109M over 8 years? Yes, books and speaking engagements were a part of it but a large part of it was special deals like the $800,000 for the Colombia deal. They have been involved in scandal after scandal and most importantly, the majority of the American people believe Hillary is dishonest. How can she win an election like that? I even understand wanting to vote for a woman, but there will be another woman who comes along who has not just the knowledge and skills to be president, but the integrity as well. Frankly, I'm tired of all of the negativity and politics as usual and it only goes on because we let it – it works! Let's take this country back and address the major problems that we have so we can secure the future for our family and descendants. Hillary has not been able to manage her campaign. How can she manage the company. If you just say NO, then it will send the message to the Republicans that we will not take their negative politics anymore either. In fact, they need to go to a corner and sit down until they apologize to this country for all of the misery they have caused the American people over the past 8 years – taking our homes, sending our daughters to Iraq to be raped by their commanders, killing our young men in Iraq or sending them home seriously injured and then not providing for their needs. Letting the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. Putting people in positions where they have to choose between buying food for their families or gasoline for their cars so they can go to work. This is not the country our forefathers and foremothers founded. We can turn it around if we just stand up and say NO!

It is obvious that the ability and experience of Sen. Clinton is much better and stronger than those of Obama, a junior Sen. It is difficult to understand why so many still chose Obama. This may indicate that gender discrimination still exists in US.

That was not prophetic! It was arrongance. As reported in one of the debates. That is why people don't like you. Hillary is a female version of Bush. Nobody likes him either. How do we expect to get the dollar up with a president no one likes? Pennsylvania do what Texas and the NAFTA liars in Ohio couldn't. How absurd to vote for the woman whose husband signed your woes into law.

Mama Not for Obama   April 18th, 2008 8:57 pm ET

Obama knows that Pennsylvania is key to the Democrats winning in November. He simple has not been able to win in any of the key swing states. He has not been able to win any big state. He has outspent Clinton by margins as high as 5 to 1, yet she will still win Pennsylvania. Superdelegates (who are themselves politicians who know how important money is to winning) should realize the significance of Clinton's win in Penn. and other states despite a huge disparity between Obama's lavish spending on ads and her minimal spending on ads.
If Obama cannot win Pennsylvania with all the money he has thrown around then there is something seriously wrong with his campaign and his ability to win the general election in Nov.

NC Engineer   April 18th, 2008 8:56 pm ET

I'm from NC, I would put $100 on Hillary not winning that state, its just not her kind of state. 1) Its not exactly a blue collar state. 2) it has a heavy minority population. 3) Obama has the overwhelming majority of the endorsements down there and thats not a good look for Billary..

A H   April 18th, 2008 8:56 pm ET

Hillary Rodham Clinton added a new trio of superdelegates to her tally on Friday.
Two former New Jersey governors, Jim Florio and Brendan Byrne, endorsed Mrs. Clinton last year, but they were only selected to be their state’s add-on delegates Thursday. As such, they have the same voting rights as superdelegates and don’t have to vote with the popular vote winner of their state (although Mrs. Clinton won New Jersey anyway).
Representative Betty Sutton of Ohio also came out in support of Mrs. Clinton. The district she represents is in northeastern Ohio.

Once again, Clinton uses words to create her own imaginary reality. I find it interesting that Obama has been so vehemently criticized for his "bitter" comments when Barber quotes H. Hillary needs to take a step back, and do what's right for the country, unfortuately, she cannot. She is driven to be better than her husband, her credability is her talking out of both sides of her mouth. During the debate she said her grandfather was from that state. She keeps harping on the fact that Obama is a so called "elitist", okay, let's check the bank accounts. Hillary like her husband will say and do whatever it takes to be elected. I don't want "the same old generation of politicans", and I'm older than 60... But don't worry I see several books coming out from her as to why she didn't get elected.

Kind of lacking in anything; no substance; just like Obama himself. He is NOT the second coming for crying out loud. Wake up people. "Just a thought" and "junebug", I am with you. Hillary Clinton should be the nominee. She is the only one who can win against John McCain. Senator Obama doesn't care about states she has won (especially Florida and Michigan). Now he wants to run away from another debate? He lost the last one and he will lose another. He can't take the heat at all. He is playing the sympathy card and it doesn't fool me for one second. What an arrogant and spoiled person he is. Senator Obama is just talk talk talk. Time for him to go away. HILLARY 08!!!!!!

To Sharon Minnesota, who claimed that "Hillary was ahead in super delegates by 22 and she picked up 2 more today. After the primaries, she will be way ahead in both delegates, super delegates and popular votes."

Sharon, I believe that Obama picked up 6 superdelegates in the same time Hillary picked up the 2 you mentioned.

And for Hillary to catch up to Obama's overall lead, she'll have to win every remaining primary with 65% of the vote. She's only done that once in this nomination race, and it was in Arkansas.

We need to start being realistic here – Hillary will not win the nomination. If you want a Democrat in the White House, then we need to start rallying behind the candidate who will be the overwhelmingly likely nominee, and that is Obama.

John   April 18th, 2008 8:42 pm ET

It doesn't matter if you knock the lead to single digits. Hillary, you need 2/3rds of the remaining pledge delegates just to tie! Depending on the district, that means getting 70-85% of the votes-and that's not going to happen.

Anything less then 75% in any state, including Penn, is loss for you.

I hope Obama takes 90 delegates from this state. Whatever momentum Clinton will gain from Pennsylvania will be erased by the landslide victory Obama will have. The spin from the Clinton camp doesnt change people minds only prove the facts: Clinton's supporters always try to move the goal post in their favor. They were the first one who stated Obama only is winning by narrow margins and didnt give him credit for his wins. Then on top of that they count wins base on popular vote, but the party doesnt usually elect on popular vote. You need delegates to win the nomination. They claim Clinton won Ohio and Texas.. Well, Obama won Texas–Popular vote doesnt mean anything delegates are the spades in this card game. The party has been claiming she would win Pennsylvania by double digits. Ok, dont move the goal post. By the way, Obama still leads in Popular vote, states won, and delegates.. Once again, the Clinton camp is making an argument that doesnt count. We need Florida and Michigan to count.. Is that the only way Clinton can win, when Obama's name is not on the ballot(Michigan)? Wake up and smell the roses.. I predict all the superdelegates who are holding office that endorse Clinton will need to find another career after their terms run out.. The unemployment line isnt too friendly nowadays.. Be careful, dont sign your life away. OBAMA forever!!

Sen. Obama will win the state of North Carolina easily. The demographics of this state are set up simliar to Virginia, and South Carolina. So if he can get at least 50% or more of the white male vote, here in the state, then I would say he would easily win North Carolina by 20 or more points. I just ask the good people of North Carolina to contiune to encourage their friends, and the young people to come out and vote. EVERY VOTES COUNTS.

When will Americans realize that in the General Election the Republicans already have enough ammunition to destroy Obama, and if he thinks Hillary has been tough on him, just wait and if the Dems are naive enough to elect him as our candidate Obama will be running back to Illinois.

O.K for a debatebut this time on ' Hillary project' that will be ery interesting...

Ariel, DC   April 18th, 2008 8:01 pm ET

As an AA I love Maya Angelou, but I'm still voting for Barack. So Hillary stop spinning your wheels, it won't work.

Obama 08

Peter of Oregon   April 18th, 2008 8:01 pm ET

No Ace Smith, you are incorrect sir. Barack Obama losing by single digits in PA would be the biggest upset this century.

Stop taking focus off of the upcoming PA election. As you see the double digit PA victory Hillary needs to continue her race start to slip away.

Didn't the PA Governor, a Clinton supporter say a Black man could not win the PA election?

OBAMA '08

Jack in ND   April 18th, 2008 8:00 pm ET

Plus, Hillary, you're running behind in the overall game. Unlike Obama, you can't claim a victory from a narrow defeat because you need to seriously close the delegate gap, while he only needs to hold his own.

A small loss in North Carolina gets you nowhere. Even a small victory in North Carolina gets you nowhere.

Marty, MS   April 18th, 2008 8:00 pm ET

Hillary, you can run but you can't hide.

No, because she still needs the delegate count. She doesn't have it, she won't get it, so she won't win.

Obama 08

John   April 18th, 2008 8:00 pm ET

As always, the deck is stacked against the Clintonistas. We're used to that. We're proud and don't ask for quarter. And we know we have the best candidate so we always have a chance.

Ellie   April 18th, 2008 7:59 pm ET

Hopefully, the people of NC will see through Hillary. She has only herself to blame for all the negative campaigns. Please Hillary and husband, just please go away--even his voice strikes a nerve. The Clinton era was nothing to be proud of. It brought abt NAFTA, Whitewater, Waco, the disaster with Elian. shall I say more.

Darryl   April 18th, 2008 7:59 pm ET

Although I am an Obama hopefull this is sure getting tiring and wearing thin my patience. I wish someone would talk about the issue the us common folk are concerned with. I have yet to hear anyone speak about that. Is there anyone else that can run?

Jack in ND   April 18th, 2008 7:58 pm ET

Hillary, it's pretty much Pennsylvania in reverse.

But while you simply speculate about it, Obama has actually closed a 30 point gap to under 5.

Obama only losing Pennsylvania by single digits will be the biggest upset of this primary season.

When you actually shows signs of closing the gap in the North Carolina polls, rather than just fantasizing about it, get back to me.

FreshFlavor   April 18th, 2008 7:57 pm ET

Haha isn't it funny that like 80% of educated people vote for Obama. Hmm yes...people with intelligence is an in depth understanding of the political arena know that Obama is a solid choice. People that actually look beyond 30 seconds of Hillarys negative commercials interupting their Everybody Loves Raymond marathon see that Clinton holds no chance in November. People really have to put down the remote and read a book.

The only reason Hillary is still in this race is because of the Rush Limbaugh Republicans going blue and voting for her just to make a complete disaster of the Democratic primary season...solid snake strategy but effective. Kudos.

just a thought   April 18th, 2008 7:57 pm ET

she just has a wonderful town hall with Maya Angelo and she is really awesome. Some of you that are judging her only on what you hear on the news should go online and research her and learn the facts about Clinton. She really has a lot of great thing to offer this country. RISE HILLARY RISE as Maya Angelo just said..... We are behind you. Hillary has all the important issues covered. She is the one that can take us to the happy place again.

Spirit of America   April 18th, 2008 7:57 pm ET

Everything's finer in Carolina. Including the upset of the century.

Paul   April 18th, 2008 7:57 pm ET

You know as millions do, that a bunch of empty words cannot make any change unless you know what to do.

Every superdelegate has seen

Hillary 's strong performance in every debate.

On the other hand, they have seen Obama performing poorly when he does not have his outline at hand ( that probably is prepared by his Preacher Mr. Wright) he is "just words" (but unexperienced ones)
Obama offended millions of Americans and even questioned core American values ( gun ownership and faith)

Do you need more reasons to support Hillary?

Hillary – President of the United States of America

We love you Hillary, words cannot deceive us from the fact that you are the best candidate to lead our nation!

Selina   April 18th, 2008 7:56 pm ET

I think it's a tad immature and petty for people to vote outside their party if the favored person doesn't win. The Democratic party needs to unite so that the people can take me this country!

BARAK THE VOTE!!!

Bill Pa.   April 18th, 2008 7:56 pm ET

Hillary all the way........................08........................................

NC needs Hillary for sure.

JAZZ   April 18th, 2008 7:55 pm ET

And America loves a "come from behind" winner. Look at the issues and do the right thing NC. America needs a problem solver who won't quit on her, not change for change's sake. Vote Hillary '08.

Fred   April 18th, 2008 7:54 pm ET

Clinton is done, She is not bright enough to realise it.

Megan   April 18th, 2008 7:54 pm ET

Yeah, good luck with that guys.

MCD   April 18th, 2008 7:54 pm ET

Keep on movin that goal post.

richard   April 18th, 2008 7:53 pm ET

Get it done Hillary America needs you.

eyeingtenure   April 18th, 2008 7:53 pm ET

Well, except for Bradley's primary success in 2000, Clinton in 1992, Nixon over Humphrey in 1968 ... just to name a few.

Peter of Oregon   April 18th, 2008 7:52 pm ET

Wow... she's now trying to downplay her double digit lead in the PA election by saying that Obama is spending more on advertisement.

Of course, it makes sense that he would have to spend more in order to overcome her name recognition given Bill Clinton, her husband, was President of the United States for two terms.

Where's the scientific analyses that are behind her campaign's claim that it would be the biggest upset of the century if she were to win NC?

The bottom line is this. Hillary IS suppose to have a decisive, double digit, WIN in PA. Taking attention off of that will not distract the voters from it.

OBAMA '08

Misty   April 18th, 2008 7:52 pm ET

Is Hillary Clinton planning to "WIN" North Carolina because of the Republican switching to Democrat Party and vote for Clinton? Wow!

This should cause all the Democrats to band and vote for Obama unanimously because he will be the party nominee and will be the President in 'O8 and '12.

I have had enough of Bill and Hillary (I will wait for Chelsea in 2020: She is a smart and articulate lady– will be fit for being a President someday).

For Now it is Obama-Obama-Obama!!!!

Susan MO   April 18th, 2008 7:51 pm ET

ALL ABOARD! ALL ABOARD! ALL BOARD!

TRAIN LEAVING THE STATON!

LAST CALL FOR HILLARY'S SUPPORTERS TO JUMP ON

OBAMA ALL THE WAY

The Truth   April 18th, 2008 7:51 pm ET

The truth is if Obama wins the Presidency that will be the biggest upset in the Century...because it is amazing where he is given where hes has come from It's the bigger picture that counts so take That!

OB '08

we wanh hillary, not mccain...screw him.   April 18th, 2008 7:50 pm ET

We already won California and New York, so who gives a crap what North Carolina thinks. They aren't even big enough to make an impact. Let's be real, folks. NC ain't that special.

Hillary and Nader 2008.

True Believer in hope   April 18th, 2008 7:50 pm ET

John Edwards dropped out way too soon.

Mike J   April 18th, 2008 7:49 pm ET

She's going to be worse off after NC than she was before PA. She's going to lose NC by A LOT more than she wins PA, if she wins it at all, her lead is down to 3-4 points in most of the polls I've seen.

we wanh hillary, not mccain...screw him.   April 18th, 2008 7:49 pm ET

I know we can't win. But who cares? At least we have Nader.

Hillary and Nader.

J T   April 18th, 2008 7:45 pm ET

clinton is a big upset(of the century), shes such a joke

Mr. C   April 18th, 2008 7:44 pm ET

Here we go Again from the Clinton Camp. trying to say Obama is ignoring the NC people... NC will suprise the clinton camp. obama will win by double digits.

gary   April 18th, 2008 7:44 pm ET

NO DOUBT N.C. WILL GO O.B.'S WAY. BIAS MEN AND MAJORITY ARE AFRICAN AMERICAN. WHAT A BIG JOKE. AMERICA VOTES FOR AN UNKNOWN CANIDATE. THAT SHOWS YOU HOW NAIVE PEOPLE ARE IN OUR COUNTRY.

Lyz in MD   April 18th, 2008 7:44 pm ET

Even those lowered expectations aren't very realistic, but the real story is that you're wasting time on another story about the process of campaigning.

Let's hear about some real issues already.

Sharon Minnesota   April 18th, 2008 7:43 pm ET

As I was saying................

Hillary was ahead in super delegates by 22 and she picked up 2 more today. After the primaries, she will be way ahead in both delegates, super delegates and popular votes.

If you count Michigan and Florida right now, you can pack up old Obama's samsonite bags right now and send him back to Chicago.

Go Hillary 08

Paul   April 18th, 2008 7:43 pm ET

Sounds like someone who expects to lose. Let's hope so.

Susan MO   April 18th, 2008 7:42 pm ET

Wishful thinking. Try winning PA first

OBAMA 08

James   April 18th, 2008 7:41 pm ET

Whatever...Next.

NickNas   April 18th, 2008 7:39 pm ET

LOLOLOLOL How many times are we supposed to fall for this?

"If she loses we knew that would happen and that state doesn't count anyway."

At LEAST come up with NEW BS to entertain us with guys!!!

Hillary just go away and take this pitiful example of staff you chose with you.
