Clinton aides are saying Obama has a major advantage in the state.

WINSTON-SALEM, North Carolina (CNN) – Hillary Clinton's campaign Friday looked to lower expectations for the upcoming North Carolina primary, telling reporters that a Clinton win here on May 6 would be "the biggest upset of the century."

Ace Smith, the campaign's North Carolina state director, told a group of reporters at Wake Forest University that Obama "starts very strong here," an advantage owed to the state's Democratic cocktail of African-American voters and affluent, educated professionals concentrated around the Raleigh-Durham area.

With the heightened attention being paid to the primary, the state's Democratic voter rolls are swelling. Since January 1, nearly 110,000 North Carolinians have signed up to vote as Democrats in the semi-open primary, and nearly 69,000 have signed up as unaffiliated voters, according to the state board of elections.

In addition, more than 19,000 Republicans have switched parties and registered as either Democrat or unaffiliated in order to participate in the contest since the beginning of the year. Over 67,000 new African-American voters in North Carolina have registered over the same time period.

"Our measure of success is knocking this down to single digits," Smith said of the race, estimating that as many as 1.5 million people could vote in the contest, which will award 115 pledged delegates.

Asked if Clinton can win the primary, Smith said, "No, that would be the biggest upset of the century."

Earlier this year, Obama scored overwhelming victories in two bordering states with very similar demographics: South Carolina and Virginia.

Despite that, Smith was optimistic about the role unaffiliated voters - who can take part in the primary along with Democrats - will play in the contest.

He argued that Obama "has lost traction" among independent voters since the nomination fight began. Clinton and Obama ran roughly even among independent voters in the March 4 contests of Texas and Ohio.

Smith, who managed Clinton's operations in California and Texas, said the New York senator is looking to perform well in the eastern and western parts of the state, rural regions with small towns that have seen visits from former president Bill Clinton. The campaign has also run two television ads here.

Smith criticized Obama for hedging on whether or not he will agree to participate in another debate to be hosted in North Carolina, despite pressure from prominent local Democrats like Gov. Mike Easley and former Gov. Jim Hunt.

"He is looking to brush off the state of North Carolina," Smith said of Obama's reluctance to commit to a debate in the state.

Hillary was ahead in super delegates by 22 and she picked up 2 more today. After the primaries, she will be way ahead in both delegates, super delegates and popular votes.

If you count Michigan and Florida right now, you can pack up old Obama's samsonite bags right now and send him back to Chicago.

Is Hillary Clinton planning to "WIN" North Carolina because of the Republican switching to Democrat Party and vote for Clinton? Wow!

This should cause all the Democrats to band and vote for Obama unanimously because he will be the party nominee and will be the President in 'O8 and '12.

I have had enough of Bill and Hillary (I will wait for Chelsea in 2020: She is a smart and articulate lady– will be fit for being a President someday).

For Now it is Obama-Obama-Obama!!!!

Peter of Oregon   April 18th, 2008 7:52 pm ET

Wow… she's now trying to downplay her double digit lead in the PA election by saying that Obama is spending more on advertisement.

Of course, it makes sense that he would have to spend more in order to overcome her name recognition given Bill Clinton, her husband, was President of the United States for two terms.

Where's the scientific analyses that are behind her campaign's claim that it would be the biggest upset of the century if she were to win NC?

The bottom line is this. Hillary IS suppose to have a decisive, double digit, WIN in PA. Taking attention off of that will not distract the voters from it.

You know as millions do, that a bunch of empty words cannot make any change unless you know what to do.

Every superdelegate has seen

Hillary 's strong performance in every debate.

On the other hand, they have seen Obama performing poorly when he does not have his outline at hand ( that probably is prepared by his Preacher Mr. Wright) he is "just words" (but unexperienced ones)
Obama offended millions of Americans and even questioned core American values ( gun ownership and faith)

Do you need more reasons to support Hillary?

Hillary - President of the United States of America

We love you Hillary, words cannot deceive us from the fact that you are the best candidate to lead our nation!

Haha isn't it funny that like 80% of educated people vote for Obama. Hmm yes…people with intelligence is an in depth understanding of the political arena know that Obama is a solid choice. People that actually look beyond 30 seconds of Hillarys negative commercials interupting their Everybody Loves Raymond marathon see that Clinton holds no chance in November. People really have to put down the remote and read a book.

The only reason Hillary is still in this race is because of the Rush Limbaugh Republicans going blue and voting for her just to make a complete disaster of the Democratic primary season…solid snake strategy but effective. Kudos.

Jack in ND   April 18th, 2008 7:58 pm ET

Hillary, it's pretty much Pennsylvania in reverse.

But while you simply speculate about it, Obama has actually closed a 30 point gap to under 5.

Obama only losing Pennsylvania by single digits will be the biggest upset of this primary season.

When you actually shows signs of closing the gap in the North Carolina polls, rather than just fantasizing about it, get back to me.

Darryl   April 18th, 2008 7:59 pm ET

Although I am an Obama hopefull this is sure getting tiring and wearing thin my patience. I wish someone would talk about the issue the us common folk are concerned with. I have yet to hear anyone speak about that. Is there anyone else that can run?

Hopefully, the people of NC will see through Hillary. She has only herself to blame for all the negative campaigns. Please Hillary and husband, just please go away——even his voice strikes a nerve. Obama 08

Jack in ND   April 18th, 2008 8:00 pm ET

Plus, Hillary, you're running behind in the overall game. Unlike Obama, you can't claim a victory from a narrow defeat because you need to seriously close the delegate gap, while he only needs to hold his own.

A small loss in North Carolina gets you nowhere. Even a small victory in North Carolina gets you nowhere.

Peter of Oregon   April 18th, 2008 8:01 pm ET

No Ace Smith, you are incorrect sir. Barack Obama losing by single digits in PA would be the biggest upset this century.

When will Americans realize that in the General Election the Republicans already have enough ammunition to destroy Obama, and if he thinks Hillary has been tough on him, just wait and if the Dems are naive enough to elect him as our candidate Obama will be running back to Illinois.

Sen. Obama will win the state of North Carolina easily. The demographics of this state are set up simliar to Virginia, and South Carolina. So if he can get at least 50% or more of the white male vote, here in the state, then I would say he would easily win North Carolina by 20 or more points. I just ask the good people of North Carolina to contiune to encourage their friends, and the young people to come out and vote. EVERY VOTES COUNTS.

wayne   April 18th, 2008 8:08 pm ET

I hope Obama takes 90 delegates from this state. Whatever momentum Clinton will gain from Pennsylvania will be erased by the landslide victory Obama will have. The spin from the Clinton camp doesnt change people minds only prove the facts: Clinton's supporters always try to move the goal post in their favor. They were the first one who stated Obama only is winning by narrow margins and didnt give him credit for his wins. Then on top of that they count wins base on popular vote, but the party doesnt usually elect on popular vote. You need delegates to win the nomination. They claim Clinton won Ohio and Texas.. Well, Obama won Texas–Popular vote doesnt mean anything delegates are the spades in this card game. The party has been claiming she would win Pennsylvania by double digits. Ok, dont move the goal post. By the way, Obama still leads in Popular vote, states won, and delegates.. Once again, the Clinton camp is making an argument that doesnt count. We need Florida and Michigan to count.. Is that the only way Clinton can win, when Obama's name is not on the ballot(Michigan)? Wake up and smell the roses.. I predict all the superdelegates who are holding office that endorse Clinton will need to find another career after their terms run out.. The unemployment line isnt too friendly nowadays.. Be careful, dont sign your life away. OBAMA forever!!

John   April 18th, 2008 8:42 pm ET

It doesn't matter if you knock the lead to single digits. Hillary, you need 2/3rds of the remaining pledge delegates just to tie! Depending on the district, that means getting 70-85% of the votes-and that's not going to happen.

Anything less then 75% in any state, including Penn, is loss for you.

Sean   April 18th, 2008 8:43 pm ET

To Sharon Minnesota, who claimed that "Hillary was ahead in super delegates by 22 and she picked up 2 more today. After the primaries, she will be way ahead in both delegates, super delegates and popular votes."

Sharon, I believe that Obama picked up 6 superdelegates in the same time Hillary picked up the 2 you mentioned.

And for Hillary to catch up to Obama's overall lead, she'll have to win every remaining primary with 65% of the vote. She's only done that once in this nomination race, and it was in Arkansas.

We need to start being realistic here - Hillary will not win the nomination. If you want a Democrat in the White House, then we need to start rallying behind the candidate who will be the overwhelmingly likely nominee, and that is Obama.

Let's see. Barry won big in Alabama, Louisiana, Virgina and some other southern states. North Carolina's majority democrats are of the same persuation as the southern states he won.

Think any dummy can predict an overwhelming victory for Barry based on his base of voters in the south.

On the other hand, McCain has double digit leads in those states.

Joyce in Florida   April 18th, 2008 8:48 pm ET

You go Sharon Minnesota. You are so right. The Obama supporters are so naive it is almost ridiculous. Just look at the comments above from Obama supporters. Kind of lacking in anything; no substance; just like Obama himself. He is NOT the second coming for crying out loud. Wake up people. "Just a thought" and "junebug", I am with you. Hillary Clinton should be the nominee. She is the only one who can win against John McCain. Senator Obama doesn't care about states she has won (especially Florida and Michigan). Now he wants to run away from another debate? He lost the last one and he will lose another. He can't take the heat at all. He is playing the sympathy card and it doesn't fool me for one second. What an arrogant and spoiled person he is. Senator Obama is just talk talk talk. Time for him to go away. HILLARY 08!!!!!!

- Who gave Obama the right that.. anyone can question, Hillary and McCain anything on any subjects, but not with Obama? I KNOW I DID NOT AS WELL AS MANY INTELLIGENT VOTERS!
- Obama might be the nominee of the Democratic Party dues to the party leaders are so anxious to reclaim the White House. Beware, leaders, you will see a lot of Liberman Democrat in November! Obama might win the battles but not the war!

Babs   April 18th, 2008 8:50 pm ET

Hillary needs to take a step back, and do what's right for the country, unfortuately, she cannot. She is driven to be better than her husband, her credability is her talking out of both sides of her mouth. During the debate she said her grandfather was from that state. She keeps harping on the fact that Obama is a so called "elitist", okay, let's check the bank accounts. Hillary like her husband will say and do whatever it takes to be elected. I don't want "the same old generation of politicans", and I'm older than 60… But don't worry I see several books coming out from her as to why she didn't get elected.

Once again, Clinton uses words to create her own imaginary reality. I find it interesting that Obama has been so vehemently criticized for his "bitter" comments when Barber quotes H. Clinton as disparaging poor white voters during her time in her "husband's" White House and even used profanity toward them.

Hillary Rodham Clinton added a new trio of superdelegates to her tally on Friday.
Two former New Jersey governors, Jim Florio and Brendan Byrne, endorsed Mrs. Clinton last year, but they were only selected to be their state’s add-on delegates Thursday. As such, they have the same voting rights as superdelegates and don’t have to vote with the popular vote winner of their state (although Mrs. Clinton won New Jersey anyway).
Representative Betty Sutton of Ohio also came out in support of Mrs. Clinton. The district she represents is in northeastern Ohio.

NC Engineer   April 18th, 2008 8:56 pm ET

I'm from NC, I would put $100 on Hillary not winning that state, its just not her kind of state. 1) Its not exactly a blue collar state. 2) it has a heavy minority population. 3) Obama has the overwhelming majority of the endorsements down there and thats not a good look for Billary..

Mama Not for Obama   April 18th, 2008 8:57 pm ET

Obama knows that Pennsylvania is key to the Democrats winning in November. He simple has not been able to win in any of the key swing states. He has not been able to win any big state. He has outspent Clinton by margins as high as 5 to 1, yet she will still win Pennsylvania. Superdelegates (who are themselves politicians who know how important money is to winning) should realize the significance of Clinton's win in Penn. and other states despite a huge disparity between Obama's lavish spending on ads and her minimal spending on ads.
If Obama cannot win Pennsylvania with all the money he has thrown around then there is something seriously wrong with his campaign and his ability to win the general election in Nov.

Dear Hillary Supporters, I understand your love for Hillary and as they say love can be blind sometimes. There are a large number of American people who want to change the face of politics and start focusing on the issues. That's old politics and it has gotten us george bush - focusing on fear, negativity and making empty promises. Unfortunately, this is the only brand of politics that the Clintons know. Yes, they both are very bright, but they lack the vision and integrity to address America's problems. Don't you understand how tied in they are to rich special interest groups? How do you think they accumulated their $109M over 8 years? Yes, books and speaking engagements were a part of it but a large part of it was special deals like the $800,000 for the Colombia deal. They have been involved in scandal after scandal and most importantly, the majority of the American people believe Hillary is dishonest. How can she win an election like that? I even understand wanting to vote for a woman, but there will be another woman who comes along who has not just the knowledge and skills to be president, but the integrity as well. Frankly, I'm tired of all of the negativity and politics as usual and it only goes on because we let it - it works! Let's take this country back and address the major problems that we have so we can secure the future for our family and descendants. Hillary has not been able to manage her campaign. How can she manage the company. If you just say NO, then it will send the message to the Republicans that we will not take their negative politics anymore either. In fact, they need to go to a corner and sit down until they apologize to this country for all of the misery they have caused the American people over the past 8 years - taking our homes, sending our daughters to Iraq to be raped by their commanders, killing our young men in Iraq or sending them home seriously injured and then not providing for their needs. Letting the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. Putting people in positions where they have to choose between buying food for their families or gasoline for their cars so they can go to work. This is not the country our forefathers and foremothers founded. We can turn it around if we just stand up and say NO!

Hillary is a far superior debater. She is ready to president. Obama is absolutely not ready to be President. This NH voter is voting for Hillary in Nov. If Hillary is not the nominee, then I will write her name in on my ballot. I have always voted for the Democratic candidiates but if Clinton is not the nominee then in this general election I will vote her as a write-in candidiate. I am tired of the Democratic party sticking us with loser nominees. Middle America and key swing states are not going to support the liberal candidiate they need someone who is more moderate and who understands and respects their values. I am tired of my party picking the more liberal candidiate without giving consideration to who can actually win the vital swing states (Ohio, Florida, TN, AK, OK, NH, NM, MI, and PA).

Write-in Hillary in Nov. if Obama steals this nomination.

Since Texas and Ohio, I stopped reading the comments because they were depressing. I don't know why I thought today's comments would be any better. Howard Dean wants a decision by July 1. Why? It appears that supporters on both sides won't be able to reconcile before the general election. Might as well take it to the convention. It won't matter. The democrats are not going to win if supporters of both camps keep spewing hateful rhetoric at one another. Frankly, it ticks me off to read it. I am ashamed of all of it. Take the high road people. This is freaking ridiculous and is going to accomplish nothing. On second thought, it will accomplish a Republican victory in November!!!! Is that what you all want? Another 4 years of Bush policy? Because that is what we are about to have if all this nonsense doesn't stop.

Put your big girl and big boy pants on and start treating one another - and the candidates - with respect in these posts. You are making fools of yourselves and Democrats nationwide.

North Carolina will go to Barack Obama by double digits. I would not be surprised if they call the state when the polls close.

As a side note, I do wish those of you who support Hillary begin to act like adults. That goes for some members of the Obama supporters as well. It really is childish.

DOES ANYONE ELSE FEEL THAT HILARY SEEMS TO HAVE A GREAT DISDAIN FOR BARRACK??

Politics has always been referred to as dirty. I have witnessed periods of disagreement - but this to me seems personal.

I was originally convinced that Hillary would get my vote. Unfortuately, I noticed that Hillary - more often than any other person - or system attack Barrack for anything - I am talking all the way back to Iowa. To me - she seemed to feel Barrack to be unworthy in general - not just of being in the racem but as a person. I just don't feel any person - regardless of who or what they are or where the have been or where they came from should be treated so disrespectfully. I feel that Hilary has been disrepectful - hateful - unprofessional - and deceitful in her dealings in this race and in her attacks on her opponent. It makes me very sad to say this - and it is so disappointing. If she does not respect him for what ever reason why would she repect anyone who disagrees with her - why would she respect anyone who is different in anyway.

Barrack is not perfect!!!! I do feel he has been more reationary to the attacks and on the defense.

McCain is not perfect!!!! The difference I see with McCain - when he discusses Barrack it seems to be more around the issues than about Barrack as a person.

Punch and Judy

It's not merely a simple bribe when the president for personal financial gain advances special interests and annoints powerful lobbyists to inform and influence executive orders and decisions. The president, as leader of the party, validates political practices that extend beyond the White House. A stealth machine or a dark cobweb of laws and politics is secured in place to concentrate power in the few, thereby systematizing abuses and reducing the strength of the democratic political process. Voting the wrong president brings about the dis-empowerment of the majority.

A political Punch-and-Judy show to launch Hillary as the puppet president is more than just a ruinous distraction at a time of domestic economic peril and moral bankruptcy abroad, it is the sell-out of American democracy.

I am curious to see what happens after this weekend.

If Hillary doesn't finish in the double-digits in Pennsylvania, will she drop out then?

Or is she going to drag this all the way to the convention?

Like McCain, I think she realizes this is her last shot at it.

After this debacle, no one will even think of nominating her in 2008 or 2012.

I would not be surprised if all the dirt about her that has aired in this process is used against her in NY and a well-funded Republican challenger ousts her from the Senate.

Perhaps upstate NY could finaly emerge from its perpetual depression…

Ever since the debate it has become quite clear to me that some Americans are just plain threatened by a strong, intelligent, capable female. It seems that people have become quite upset that Senator Clinton upstaged Senator Obama, how dare she. Rather than see that she is a strong candidate they continue to demean and vilify her. Rather than look or listen to what she is offering the American people to help us out of the debacle this administration has put us in we would rather call her a liar, evil, negative. Because she can go toe to toe with Obama and look so sharp and Presidential doing so, the media and racist people are at fault. It's funny because Obama and his supporters have constantly yelled about Senator Clinton acting like she is entitled to the nominiation but in fact it is Obama who seems to feel he should just be given the office, Forget an election, install Obama.

CNN, it would be nice if you post at least one of my post. Thank you.

Clintonistas, you mean like Sandanistas and Zapatistas? I love how the supporters of the status quo, the Washington insiders, try and position themselves as this 'insurrgent' campaign, that is fighting this uphill battle as the underdog. Bill Clinton was a two term President. This is his wife, a smart, articulate, conniving and back-stabbing opportunist who will as we have seen do anything, say anything to win, even if it hurts her party's nominee in the fall. There is something more cynical going on here, and perhaps you can see it if you try. The only way that the Clintons get back in the White House is if John McCain wins this election and they (Billary) run against his Vice-President (cause he's not going for two terms) in 2012. If Barack gets in he's going two terms for sure, and that means the end of the dynasty for the Clintons. They know that they are not going to get this nomination. Sam Nunn and other superdelegates are joining Obama's National Security Advisory Team. Google Sam Nunn if you want to know whose really powerful in this country from a political and corporate sense. The Clintons are thinking of themselves first and they are willing to risk four more years of Bush policies to get what they want…those nice evening strolls in the rose garden, with friends.

The century is only 8 years old, moron.

NC is not a big state, Hillary herself said that little states don't count, what's important is gib states, so why is she so wooried about her victory in NC since this little state doesn't count ?

She'd better pull her forces in PA, that's the remaining biggest state she must win by a double digit since she started over there with a double lead over Obama.

Why suddenly NC would be an amzing victory, the "Century Victory" for her when she sasy little states don't count.

When John Edwards left the race, it wasn't because he wanted to leave, it was because he knew that he couldn't win anymore, the 2 remaining candidates were stronger.

Hillary has to admit herself that Barack has energized the DC party much more than her, people are payning attention to him much more than her. For the god of our party, PA must be her last run, a small victory for her in PA should make her understand that forcing and continuing this race will only be to tear the party down, to lead the democrats to demonizing each other, instead of coming together to win in November with the help of Republicans and Independts.

I know Hillary is smarter than that, I pray that she'll let her heart guide her path, instead of her personal ans self interestq.

Luke I can spell and I am bright enough to state the Hillary is full of lies. Smoke, mirrors and being negative does not win. How is my spelling ?

The century is ONLY 8 years old… what is he talking about?

Jacob S   April 18th, 2008 9:32 pm ET

I fail to see the point in Clinton even staying in this anymore. She needs a huge, huge majority of pledged delegates in every remaining contest(as in she needs to do better than she's expected to do in PA in every remaining state) in order to catch up there, and she's all of 20-30 superdelegates ahead. She's lucky nowadays to get 2 superdelegates in a week while Obama gets a good 10 or so in that same timeframe. I think that if superdelegates heed Dean's call to decide sooner rather than later, if Obama wins even 35-40% of them the contest is his to lose. At this point he needs less than 50% of the remaining delegates to win while Hillary needs over 60%, and with every superdelegate that switches from her to uncommitted or Obama and every contest where she loses, that 60% goes up while Obama's 40something % goes down.

North Caroline if you really want to vote for Obama , fine. Before you do though, have you really checked him out. Read: humanevents.com articles by John Batchelor regarding Obama relationships with the Chicago bunch.

Jane   April 18th, 2008 9:33 pm ET

Hillary is going to get trounced in NC. She is deluding herself. Barack Obama will win by double digits like he did in Mississippi and Wyoming. Hillary needs to face reality very soon. She sounds scary.

nate   April 18th, 2008 9:33 pm ET

Its all about Indiana at this point. Pa for her, NC for him. If he wins Indy its over. If she does, on we go…

Sol   April 18th, 2008 9:34 pm ET

Watch out folks! Hillary is shifting the goal post in case she looses Pen.

Peter in Canada   April 18th, 2008 9:35 pm ET

Yes Indeed!
A debate in NC would be a grand idea!
Bill and Chelsea Clinton could be the moderators!
They could entertain questions from random, typical Americans…like Vernon Jordan….like Lanny Davis…like Paul Begala!

Jane   April 18th, 2008 9:36 pm ET

Ace Smith, what a loon. Barack Obama has campaigned heavier and talked to more people in NC and therefore has much larger support than Hillary could ever hope for. Ace Smith sounds like a desperate man.

Grif   April 18th, 2008 9:37 pm ET

Travesty! Be it on your shoulder's… Then try and dust it off, like the idiot Obama… A LIve of saving for white Folk, Wasted on the Black's. That think Religion is Food….

Ross in MD   April 18th, 2008 9:38 pm ET

Well George Bush won North Carolina. Since Hillary has the same views, maybe they'll go for her too.

Or maybe they'll want a change. We'll see…

typical whitey   April 18th, 2008 9:39 pm ET

Hey, Obama supporters. You don't know this (unless you are one of the bullies) but Obama supporters have stolen several states with their hate and intimidation tactics. You can deny it all you want but those of you who have attended Caucuses know they are NOT democratic to say the least. Rules were broken, doors locked and Hillary supporters getting spat upon. NASTY group you are. That is precisely why this independent will vote for McCain over Obama. No, not out of spite but because McCain is a true hero and true American to the blood. This democratic primary season has been a disgrace.
And Fresh Flower (that sounds like an intelligent person) - there are smart, educated people for each and every candidate. Too bad you are so blinded to think all Hillary supporters are dumb and Obama supporters are smart. Grow up.

Peg   April 18th, 2008 9:40 pm ET

Hillary PEOPLE, Take one primary at a time, OK? Go ahead and win Pennsylvania, enjoy the win and move on to lose in N.C. That's just the way it is meant to be. An upset, is probably not in the cards..

Why would Obama want to put himself through that tortuous debate process again? Number 1, it was stupid, the questions were useless, the result was not positive for really, either of the candidates OR the party and it just keeps helping the Republicans.

They have done enough debates, Obama just needs to campaign and be out there for people to get to know. Hillary is the only one who has the potential to benefit from any further debates. So give it up!

Elizabeth   April 18th, 2008 9:40 pm ET

God Bless the wonderful people in North Carolina.

Make us proud. Vote Barack Obama and put an end tothis. Hillary can't tell the truth and she is deceitful and has an a 58% dishonet and untrustworthy rating. We must have change and someone to help the people with gasoline prices, jobs, the housing market and taxes.

Another Reputlican voting for Barack Obama and proud of it and proud of him! I'm making another donation to help Barack in NC.

Fort Worth, TEXAS

Attention Obama supporters. The Titanic is boarding. Reserve your deck chair now.

mary   April 18th, 2008 9:40 pm ET

Pennsylvania loss of less than 10 points for Barack would be win of the Century. He, however, will not stoop to negative campaigning, thus respecting our intelligence for figuring out what's really happening. Thank you, Barack. Looking forward to a great four years.

Dori in AZ   April 18th, 2008 9:41 pm ET

Why is it they keep telling us that "affluent, educated professionals" tend to vote for Obama, and not for Clinton, like that's a bad thing? Hillary not being able to draw that group seems to be a negative for her, as they represent a sizable segment of the American public.

Some polls separate out African-American voters as an entity based entirely on race, not taking into account that many are affluent, educated professionals. The Clintons have prided themselves on their ability to reach minority voters in all economic ranges. If that's true, African-American voters in North Carolina should also be within reach.

Sometimes this campaign reminds me of a civil war. Enough of the divide and conquer mentality. We need to come together to find solutions to the very real and disturbing issues in our country while we still can. We need a leader of substance.

Obama 2008! Si se puede!

Bubba   April 18th, 2008 9:41 pm ET

Can we afford a pathological liar in the WH? Would she lie to world leaders? Can we afford to take the chance? She has intentionally lied to America and, when caught, just blew it off. Can we afford to have a pathological liar in the WH? This is the biggest issue with Hillary….she simply cannot be trusted.

Hillary just comes off as disingenuous,,here in N Carolina and anywhere else.

I am voting for Hillary because I would like a president that has experienced pressure under fire - running down the tarmac in Bosnia ducking bullets. I am so impressed with her soul searching honesty.
NOT!!! - I am actually disgusted. I was once placed in the unfortunate situation of being very close to an actual shooting. The fear that grips you before you fall for cover is one that will never ever leave you. Trust me when I say this - it takes a psychotic mind to s
