Romney takes swipes at 'elitist' Obama

Romney had some sharp words for Obama.

Romney had some sharp words for Obama.

(CNN) - In a sign he's comfortable playing the attack dog for John McCain's presidential campaign, Mitt Romney issued stinging criticisms of Barack Obama Friday, calling the Illinois senator a "quintessential politician."

"He, in the debate, made a number of promises that he cannot possibly deliver - populist approaches that sound good to the public but that are counter to the growth and strength of our economy and the well-being of our nation," Romney, who abandoned his own presidential bid in February, told the National Journal.

In an apparent reference to Obama's recent comments calling some small town Americans "bitter," Romney also said the Democratic presidential candidate has "subscribed fully to the kind of elitist view of America that has long characterized those of the most liberal persuasion in our country."

"So I think what's happening is that people are getting a better sense about Barack Obama," Romney continued. "They didn't know who he was… but now we're getting a better view of Barack Obama as the - not just the liberal, but the political liberal that he is."

Romney was a fierce critic of John McCain when the two were primary rivals, though he has since repeatedly praised McCain and indicated his willingness to serve as the Arizona senator's running mate.

Rather than call Mr. Obama a "quintessential politician" we suggest that a better adjetive will be " THE GREAT IMPOSTOR " and here is our challenge; ( no matter who becomes our president ) " We project that a person making $ 18.000 .- during January 2009 will be making no more than $ 21.000.- during January 2003, those who do not have health insurance in January 2009 will remain " without it " in January 2003 and the level of military presence in Iraq during January 2009 will be just about the same in January 2003.

Romney is on point that Americans are finally seeing who Obama is. The media protected him for a long time and now, finally, we are seeing how much dirt there was to hide. The more we hear, the worse BO looks. When he has to answer questions and can't present his speeches of rhetoric and slogans, he fails. He was extremely uncomfortable in the last debate. Well, Barack, how do you like it now?
The Democrats should have this election but if they run Obama, McCain is the winner. I am a Democrat who will vote against Obama if he is the nominee.

I've never heard anything more ridiculous than Mitt Romney calling somebody else elitist or a "quintessential politican." Throw him and HIllary out. We've had enough of their utterly despicable hypocrisy.

Romney is a loser! Did you see how McCain ate him alive with the 'Timeline' argument at the Republican debate. He is trying too hard to be noticed for the VP job. A quitter shouldn't have any say in anything...shut up and let the politicians with guts gut it out!

This is about the dumbest thing I've ever heard!! Give me a break!!! Obama has had more odds against him than all the other canidates (current and past) in this election... The Republicans are just kissing the ground right now that Mr. Romney bowed out early. Do you think he knew anything about Warren Jeffs' little community in TX???!!!???

Jeremiah Wright is in the mold of the Old Testament prophets who spoke Truth to Power.
Instead of simply regurgitating all of the anti-Wright criticisms about Wright being anti-American, take a real look at his entire sermons, instead of taking his words out of context. By the way, Jeremiah Wright served in the United States Marines, where did you serve, those of you criticizing his so-called anti-American prose?

What's original is hearing the same old rhetoric and the democrats using the same old terms they've used for the past 50 years, "silver spoon", wealthy don't pay enough taxes, etc. A little home work about our tax structure and who really pays the bills might enlighten many of our liberals. But then again, probably not, because most liberals have a cork in one end and a megaphone at the other. They'd rather raise taxes and continue to support our second and third generation welfare recipients.

So let me get this straight. The 400 million dollar Romney, who's Daddy gave him most of his money, is calling the guy who grew up on the Southside of Chicago an Elitist. Yea that makes sense. The American people need to get pissed that these idiots keep throwing out this nonsense. But that's the problem most people in America are stupid.

How do you think we got G.W. Bush.

He didn't connect with voters months ago, why does he think we'll care what he thinks now? In my opinion, every candidate running this primary season was an elitist and out of touch.....except Obama!

    Mitt Romney,

What debate are you talking about? You mean that farce last night? That was no debate, that was an "Attack Obama" set-up, and more than likely Hillary had advance knowledge of the whole disgusting attack, I am convinced that she had been given the questions before the so-called debate, that's why she came across so smug when asked the questions.

Hey Roameo! You are not going to be Mc Sane VP! Looks like Obama is still in the race and is wining! I see nothing wrong with people try to place labels on people. As Obama said – it's not Spring – it's Silly Season! By the way – is Mc Sane taking his nap?
