Clinton camp: Obama was a 'hypocrite from day one'

(CNN) - Hillary Clinton’s campaign accused surrogates for Barack Obama of resurrecting her controversial comments over Bosnian sniper fire Saturday.

"One of the inherent duties of the president of the United States is to lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier on Memorial Day,” said Gen. Walter Stewart on an Obama campaign conference call on the issue of Bosnia - remarks circulated by the Clinton campaign Saturday afternoon.

“Now we can assume, and let's keep in mind that Senator Clinton has said she was under sniper fire, or she joked about, which to me was the cruelest part of all this, she joked about it with Jay Leno. … Imagine the lack of moral authority she has now to lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier on Memorial Day.”

Clinton had faced criticism for claiming that her plane landed under sniper fire during a trip to Bosnia she made as First Lady.

The Clinton campaign pointed to Obama’s statement at Wednesday night’s debate that his campaign only commented on the Bosnia incident when asked. "When it comes to negative campaign tactics, Senator Obama has been a hypocrite from day one, decrying attack politics from one side of his mouth while he and his campaign wage a character assassination effort from the other,” said Clinton spokesman Phil Singer. “The juxtaposition of Senator Obama’s comments in the debate and the remarks made on his campaign conference call this afternoon prove the point."

Obama is just showing too much Harvard sactimony for my taste in implying that he is the only candidate with moral authority!

This is not the politics of tomorrow!!!

He has really let me down.

He should not be President, I will NOT vote for this man.

Frankly, I'm surprised that the Obama camp did not make an issue of the Bosnia comments earlier. After all, during the debate Clinton finally admitted that she LIED. If I were her, I wouldn't have resurrected this issue–especially since it is one of the main reasons that people question her veracity and view her as so negative and divisive.

On another note, it's interesting that Clinton is upset that people resurrect the Bosnia fiasco (which was true), when at the same time she is attempting to smear Obama by calling him a weak, elitist "terrorist"–all of which are not true. Not to mention that she and her surrogates claim that Obama is only ahead in the vote because he is Black, his supporters hate women, or they're too young or too stupid. Wow…for someone with $109 million, she sure is "bitter"!

The Clinton camp needs to show some restraint and remember that they are running against a Democrat. Calling Obama a hypocrite is simply not acceptable. It is wrong and what the General said is absolutely true, it was cruel from her part to make fun of such a despicable situation.

Barack Obama? A hypocrite? A dirty politics player? No. Not him. It was one of his supporters. One of his people. One of a number of ways he will continue to shirk responsibility. Continue to shirk responsibility Obama until you throw everyone under the bus.

  13. Hillary is a liar and opportunist

Agree, Hillary lacks the moral authority and has misled the American people about her Iraq record and experience. If there’s anyone in the race whose history shows unique courage and character, it's Barack Obama. HRC’s campaign, by contrast, is singularly lacking in conviction about anything (or they make it up to get votes along the way). Why else would almost all former Clinton administration staff support Barack Obama. Take note superdelegates!

More politics of distraction from the Clinton campaign. Just when I thought we had gotten done with a lot of this crap, here we go again! Why don't the Clintons just campaign straight and let the votes speak for themselves. Oh that's right, because they already have.

Obama needs to show people that he's not soft, or a whimp like the Clintons are portraying him to be. Simply because he wants to change the divisive politics does not mean he's a whimp. He needs to lauch attacks for a few weeks so people know that he can. When he's done he should again ask voters if this is really what they want.

The Queen of Attacks is now complaining when someone attacks back. Obama is wrong when he attacks back and called a "wimp" when he doesn't. You know what this sounds like to me....another non-issue distraction.

HEY! Phil! The General is right. She has no moral authority left. She lost all of that with her lie about Bosnia. Real soldiers are facing that deadly environment every day, and she tries to include herself in that scenario, and then JOKES about it. "Oh, Jay, I was late while avoiding sniper fire." Nothing funny about that, Phil. She is despicable!

    Obama '08!

    With your bitter, twisted lies,

You may tread me in the very dirt

But still, like dust, I’ll rise.

This is not the first time you have seen Hillary "Clinton seemingly at her wits’ end, but she has always risen, always risen, don’t forget she has always risen, much to the dismay of her adversaries and the delight of her friends.

Hillary Clinton will not give up on you and all she asks of you is that you do not give up on her."
