Watch former President Clinton respond to a question about his 'race card' remark."

PITTSBURGH, Pennsylvania (CNN) – Bill Clinton denied Tuesday he had accused the Obama campaign of ‘playing the race card’ during a Monday interview. A recording of the former president making the comment during that interview has been circulating online.

Outside a Pittsburgh campaign event, a reporter asked Clinton what he had meant “when you said the Obama campaign was playing the race card on you?"

Clinton responded: "When did I say that and to whom did I say that?"

The reporter replied that the former president had made the remarks during his interview with WHYY Monday night.

"No, no, no, that's not what I said,” said Clinton. “You always follow me around and play these little games. And I am not going to play your games today. This is a day about Election Day, go back and see what the question was and what my answer was.

“You have mischaracterized it to get another cheap story to divert the American people from the real urgent issues before us, and I choose not to play your games today. …

“I said what I said you can go back and look at the interview, and if you will be real honest you will also report what the question was and what the answer was. But I'm not helping you,” said Clinton.

Clinton did not respond when asked what he meant when he charged that the Obama campaign had a memo in which they said they had planned to play the race card.

If he said it or not, its actually true. In South Carolina, is was the Obama campaign who was pushing the race issue behind closed doors. Thats a fact..Obama seems disconnected from what his campaign actually does.

Obama is not a god, or an Idol, and I, for one, am tired of his supporters who feel he is intitled to the Presidency.

Joe in Hawqaii   April 22nd, 2008 3:30 pm ET

I'll bet Bill now regrets EVER having that guy that invented the internet as his VP…

Tommy   April 22nd, 2008 3:30 pm ET

Typical George W. Bush politics by Bill and Hillary Clinton. They are never responsible or held accountable for their words or actions. Always blame somebody else, better yet, blame the MEDIA for the lies!

Erin   April 22nd, 2008 3:30 pm ET

Hahahahahahahahahahahaha! Clinton, why don't you go sit down & work on getting that foot out of your mouth!

boxermum 06   April 22nd, 2008 3:29 pm ET

CNN,

Why don't you cover the complete story and include the transcript from the WHYY interview? Isn't this reporting only 1/2 the story? Or didn't you want to do your homework as Bill challenged?

Proudly voted for Hillary today in PA!

BTW.. where's the story about Obama now throwing back some beers for votes in Bethlehem? No double standard for him after he critized Hillary for doing the same? There is no race card only a sexist card! Let's keep it real!!!

California Girl   April 22nd, 2008 3:29 pm ET

Leave President Clinton alone.
He was an awesome President during his 8-year term.

Vote for Hillary! You get 2 Presidents for the price of 1.

An Amazing Man! Our convention center in small-town ontario, canada had Bill Clinton here for a speech recently–the huge arena was sold out in 5 minutes at $200.00 a pop–not even standing room. I was disappointed, but will be there for the next one if he ever comes back–if you don't want him there, Obamabots, we will take him here. By the way, it was nice on the weekend on this blog–Obamabots were sleeping!

LDUBLIN   April 22nd, 2008 3:28 pm ET

The media (all mainstream US media) has turned this entire debachury into an E! Hollywood special, and all you people fall into the trap. Instead of worrying about what Bill, Obama, or whoever says about the other's skin, clothes, etc….can we get some real reporting and constituent concern over actual issues involved here, then use that information to make an informed decision instead of deciding based on POOR reporting. Does anyone know, OR CARE because I can't tell what the actual details of the candidates healthcare, environment, defense plans are…..ALL OF THIS IS SICKENING TO ME! The only place to get actual details of candidates plans is Paul Krugman!

Jack Henderson   April 22nd, 2008 3:28 pm ET

Poor Bill.

What legacy? We always knew your term in office was a joke. What kept you out of the dog house was the fact the economy was strong until late 1998 and 1999, when we started falling into a recession, similar to current conditions.

You are a proven liar. You used to be able to talk yourself out of a jam, but the American Public has since proven wiser.

You and Jimmy "Peanut" Carter are a joke. Just go lie around like Bush Sr., do some nice fund raising for charities, and stay our ot the way.

Now, maybe Hillary will divorce you now that she can't use you anymore.

Nobody connected to the Obama campaign ever called Bill or Hillary racists. They are not. Bill merely tried to diminish the significance of Obama's SC victory by comparing it to Jackson's. He wanted folks to see Obama's victory as race-based. Now he claims that the Obama campaign played the race card and he has the memos to prove it. OK, let's see the memos.

I just listened to the recorded WHYY interview. Bill's denial today is flatly contradicted by the tape. What is going on, Bill?

So did Bill "misspeak"? Can Bill or Hillary ever tell the truth about anything? I was learning toward Hillary when the primaries began, but I have been so turned off by her poorly run campaign, both Clintons' lying, Bill's race-baiting, and now Hillary's war-mongering rhetoric. I'm not enthusiastic about Obama, but he's better than either Billary or McSame.

evy   April 22nd, 2008 3:12 pm ET

the reason why the clintons won in the 90's was because they were able to put together a coalition of the moderates. they attracted the centrist vote, which is now mccain's strength. republicans will vote for him because he is republican, and moderates will vote for him because he is not as far left as obama. THINK ABOUT IT. you spend all this time building obama up but you NEGLECT TO THINK that MUCH of this country is moderate to conservative in their views (REMEMBER HOW MUCH RED THERE WAS ON THE LAST ELECTION MAP!?). i am liberal in my views but i am looking at HISTORY, DEMOGRAPHICS, AND ELECTABILITY. i wish the obama supporters would stop being BRAINWASHED into thinking obama could pull a coalition together big enough to beat mccain's moderate appeal. i've never voted republican in my life but honestly, if obama gets the nomination, his media hyped-up persona, i'm sorry to say, is setting him up for a great great fall…mccain will be laughing all the way to the whitehouse.

Overlooked by the Obama talking points is the fact that any win by Hillary today in Pennsylvania, regardless of the margin, will bolster her contention that she is the candidate who wins the big states and the important swing states needed for victory in November. This is an issue that the superdelegates do take into consideration.

Gabe Polson, The Woodlands,TX   April 22nd, 2008 3:10 pm ET

Good for you. Stick it to the media President Clinton. They are long overdue. I heard your interview and you did not say that. Shame on the media for trying to inject one more false story into the news cycle.

I second the comment of the person above. Where is the reporting of Hillary's words today saying she would use nuclear weapons to "obliterate" Iran. How about some political analysis on the recklessness saber rattleing there. Doesn't she realize we are not the only nuclear super power and it's likely that Russia and China are not going to sit idley by why we tarket nations that they do buisness with threatening nuclear obliteration?
That is real news. We already know Bills gone goofy.

andrewfl   April 22nd, 2008 1:39 pm ET

To quote the article only two posts down the ticker:
The former president had been asked whether his remarks comparing Obama’s strong showing in South Carolina to that of Jesse Jackson in 1988 had been a mistake given their impact on his wife Hillary Clinton’s campaign. “No, I think that they played the race card on me,” said Clinton, “and we now know from memos from the campaign and everything that they planned to do it all along.”

To clarify, he said, "No, I think that they played the race card on me and we know from memos from the campaign and everything that they planned to do it all along."

But, now, he says he did not say the Obama campaign played the race card.

No one can revise history — and very recent history — like Bill Clinton. I'm glad I no longer have to make excuses for his mistakes.

HEIDI   April 22nd, 2008 1:39 pm ET

In all sincerity, I don't think Bill wants to be back in the White House. Never in my life have I heard my father refer to my mother as "she" and "her". His comments pertaining to Hillary is alway she is the better…Her plan is this and that.

Even Chelsea reference her mother has "My Mother" or "My Mom".

I just want to say thank you Bill for the HELP in getting Sen. OBama elected.

Could not have done it without your comments.

Bill is a real politician. This family does not care about lying because they know they have always prevailed after lying so now why stop?
He knows he could say whatever and people will not keep up with all the lies as the will have to pick one to mention. In the meantime a lot of people are fooled before the truth comes.
They should make this old politics illegal and arrest those who are caught lying to the people.

Bill was such a great politician what in the world happened to him? i read this in all the posts and hear it from people in the street. People who used to love Bill and thought him to be one of the most intelligent and savvy politicians of the 20th century are amazed to find what idiotic mistakes he's been making. Maybe it was his heart problems that caused this? who knows but homeboy is NOT on his "A" game at all and hasn't been since this race started.

Clinton is doing it again and the media is playing right along.

On this day of voting. There you go playing the race card again.

wow!

Denis   April 22nd, 2008 1:38 pm ET

This is another dirty tricks ploy by the Obama campaign to bring in controversy with President Clinton into this PA Primary day. Discussing conduct by Obama's team for again playing the race card.

You already have 90% of the black vote and you want more. Well if you win the nomination 90% of the black vote will never help you win the Presidency and it will come back to you in November.

Don   April 22nd, 2008 1:38 pm ET

Wow. I used to have the greatest respect for Bill.

It sort of makes you wonder where the race would be now if Bill had just taken the last year off somewhere in the little latitudes.

I went to Obama in part based on the increasing negativity of the Clinton campaign leading up to SC.

By the way, we will have a democrat in the WH come Jan 09, so no need for panic….

AJ, Ft. Lauderdale   April 22nd, 2008 1:38 pm ET

I had and sill have a lot of respect for Bill Clinton. I think he was one of the best Presidents we ever had, but he does need to restrict his comments as I am not sure he knows what he is talking about sometimes. It is giving Hillary's campaign a real black eye

Terry   April 22nd, 2008 1:38 pm ET

Barack Obama is full of energy, charm and personality, almost as endearing as the pied piper. He is a likable man because we cannot find anything not to like about him.He spent most of his younger years in Asia and then asked permission to return to the US to complete his education. It appears he tried to find his place in the black community of South Chicago. It's all good. However, my neighbors need jobs, we are paying over $3.00 a gallon for gas after 8 years with two oil men in the White House. I don't know what charming Mr. Obama can do. I do know what Hillary and Bill have already done after the last Bush. They motivated jobs and our unemployment was one of the lowest in history. They helped us pay down the national debt for the first time since Jimmy Carter. With all the problems our nation is facing at this time we need someone whose record we know. Barack Obama has time to run for President again but now is not the time for a trial and error administration.Abbie in NC

Will   April 22nd, 2008 1:38 pm ET

first Bill never lied under oath, check your facts. He lied to the public when asked a question that was none of anybody's business. But never to the Grand Jury while under oath.

He was accused of being misleading, but defended himself by saying it was not his responsibility to make the prosecutors job easier, for the onus is always on the Govt…

Yes impeached by the House, yet acquitted by the Senate.

So when asked a question that he has already answered, he gave an appropriate response. Check the facts, the question, context, and answer. Why would a reporter waste Bill's time or ours to ask a question and answer that is already on the record.
Doesn't the reporter know how to read. Does the reporter have a brain? Why can't the reporter take this empirical time frame to ask a new question? The reported had Bill's attention and wasted it on an know fact , issue, or personal opinion.

How would you feel if someone came into your work place and wasted you time like this?

Well, i would just like to comment some of the above comments….

None of the posters slagging off Bill clinton seem to have watched the full video… It is always true that reporters take a small snap of words from a wider context and just create the story they love to publish.

My suggestion is don't fall into those traps… Bill regardless of what the question is…

Yet Another Clinton lie. When are the American people going to start calling The Clintons on all these lies? I cannot even stand to watch either Bill or Hillary speak anymore. You can't believe a word they have to say. This is such a horrible state they have put the Democratic party in because there are still old die hard honest people who want so bad to believe what the clintons have to say. Wake up and all you clinton voters see what is before your very eyes. We have two very dishonest, uncreditable people in bill and hillary. From what I hear now even Chelsea is turning into back room dirty polictics. Last night on CNN Iisten to campaign speeches from Bill Clinton and Mrs. Obama. Her speech was eloquent and enlighting and one of the best I have heard. She gave insight on Mr. Obama's qualifications to be our next President. His qualifications were impressive. Why can't CNN run her speech instead of this. Bill Clinton's speech is all over the news today but no mention of Mrs. Obama's speech. How can you equate Obama to Rev. jesee jaskson?. He is not, just as Hillary is not Bill Clinton. It appears to me that the news media is bias toward the Obama campaign by trying to highlight Hillary's qualifications on her husband's record. This may come back to bite you if it continues since his character is public knowledge. I would love to her speech again. Where will she speak next. EMcKinney – Maryland

Bill Clinton has destroyed all the respect I had for him- and I was a supporter of his. His constant stream of BS on the campaign trail is sickening. I read the transcript of the radio show- HE DID say that the obama campaign played the race card on him. I guess it depends on what the definition of "said" is…I will be happy when Barack Obama finally wins and Bill and Hillary are no longer campaigning.

DNC   April 22nd, 2008 1:29 pm ET

I beleive the Clintons are operatiing for the good of the democratic party and will throw everything at Obama in order to use up all remaing tactics the GOP will throw his way in Nov. I know the media says it is hurting the democratic party. I beleive we will look at Bill and Hilary in differnt light once they completely vett Obama and move forward with unifying the party.

Independent-woman-voter-for-Obama   April 22nd, 2008 1:29 pm ET

I once liked Bill Clinton enough to vote for him. Now I am saddened that I really did not know this man at all. He and his wife are all about ego and power.

I am praying and hoping that Pennsylvania will retire the Clintons once and for all.

Please Pennsylvania, LET'S MOVE TOWARD THE FUTURE AND CHANGE THE DIRECTION OF OUR COUNTRY!

Obama/Nunn in 2008

Bata Tayra   April 22nd, 2008 1:28 pm ET

Both camps need some cleaning up. Obama sticking with his pastor until the videos came out is not great and Hilary's stories and memories of a war zone landing are puzzling. Having said that, I hope a democrat will be in the house.

cherish   April 22nd, 2008 1:28 pm ET

Bill has officially lost it.

Mind your P's and Q's, buster, and remember who you're dealing with.

Truth is, we will be sending Obama back to Illinois… TO PACK HIS STUFF TO MOVE IT INTO THE WHITE HOUSE.

Leericists   April 22nd, 2008 1:28 pm ET

OOOH GOD ! I can't believe this man is a former President !!! It's really hard to believe that Bill is this Dum. I think he doesn't want his wife to be president ! Why else would he do all these dum mistakes. Neways thank you for helping my candidate !
Go Obama !!!

Harvey   April 22nd, 2008 1:28 pm ET

Bill is a brilliant guy, and he has it together—-he's not out of control …. it is the news media that is out of control. It is the news media that takes his words and spins them to mean what they want them to mean. It's about getting a story, stoopid …..

The news media would throw their own mother under a train to get a good story …. and continually nail Hillary to the cross of their twisted-postiionalities.

I will be so glad when this over, and I am hoping that Hillary gets the nomination so the news media can make a story out of that.

Mr. Gravy   April 22nd, 2008 1:28 pm ET

And this is the guy who many consider to be the most brilliant politician of the 20th century? He's certainly acting like a petty, low-brow politician, which is actually what he is.

Mary   April 22nd, 2008 1:28 pm ET

(Transcript is on MSNBC)

Here’s the transcript: INTERVIEWER (RE: Jackson comment): “Do you think that was a mistake, and would you do that again?"

CLINTON: "No. I think that they played the race card on me. And we now know, from memos from the campaign and everything that they planned to do it along. Jesse Jackson …..

OPEN YOUR EYES PEOPLE! The "CLINTONS" are liars and if you vote them (note the plural) back into the White House, you're not going to like it!

Alice   April 22nd, 2008 1:28 pm ET

Who wants this jerk roaming the White House again?

Karen   April 22nd, 2008 1:28 pm ET

Which one of you actually saw the interview? Bill is correct as usual, and the games are a cheap attempt to discredit Hillary, again … Get over it.

Mac   April 22nd, 2008 1:28 pm ET

Spin, Spin, Spin…. as usual, take a remark out of context and it can be whatever you want it to be…..

“We were talking about South Carolina political history and this was used out of context and twisted for political purposes by the Obama campaign to try to breed resentment elsewhere. And you know, do I regret saying it? No. Do I regret that it was used that way? I certainly do. But you really got to go some to try to portray me as a racist.”

He added that the way Obama’s campaign had reacted was “disrespectful to Jesse Jackson” and that the former presidential candidate had told him he was not offended, and that “we all know what’s going on."

The only CHANGE we need is for Obama to stop lying and telling us he does not.

Tim from Buffalo   April 22nd, 2008 1:28 pm ET

As an Obama supporter I love when President Clinton brings the race stuff up. It's a guarantee that they'll play his "Jessie Jackson won SC too" video back up on all of the cable news channels further damaging his wife's campaign.

I can't imagine how much worse he can do than lying and misrepresenting things he said on camera and on the record.

Lane   April 22nd, 2008 1:28 pm ET

Way to go again CNN. What's the matter? Did bad old Bill attack your baby Barrack. I'm so sick of this biased reporting. In fact, I'm through with you, CNN. Bye Bye.

Heath   April 22nd, 2008 1:28 pm ET

(Bill looking very stern and staring straight at the camera): "It all depends upon what your definition of race card is."

Does anyone besides me notice the resemblance between Bill Clinton and W.C. Fields? Then you'll also remeber what Fields admonished: "Never give a sucker an even break."

Obama in '08.

Rena   April 22nd, 2008 1:28 pm ET

No guys remembr everything that is done in secret has to be reveal. All that is in darkness must come to the light. Now, you are seeing the real Bill Clinton just like you are seeing the real Hillary. Hillary is gay and has used Bill to cover up her sexual preference. Trust me this will eventually be exposed as well. It want stay hidden long. Read the book "The Truth about Hillary", it tells all about her and her gay friends. Little Chel just got caught up in the mist of their hypocricy. Why do you think they only have one? Because it's a ploy for their political reign. Bill got his and now their fighting for Hillary to have her turn. Get these money hungry, greedy, selfish, and out landerous people out of the system all together. AMERICA YOU ARE BEING DECEIVED!! These people never had the good intentions for our country; it has always been about them and them ONLY. Tell me ONE thing these people did so great in office that any one of them deserve the title President. They have made a mockery out of the Presidential office and the other countries are laughing at us.

Say no to the monarchy   April 22nd, 2008 1:27 pm ET

Yes that evil media is after the Clinton. It was the media that made Bill compare Obama to Jesse Jackson. It was the media that made Hilary lie about the sniper attack and dangerous situation that she put her daughter in. It was the media that made him sleep with Monica. It was the media that made him bring up the issue of his wife's fictional story of landing under sniper fire. The Clinton have a way of explaining everything because they never are to blame. It is like when she apologized for lying about the Bosnia trip. She said and I quote I guess everyone can now see that I make mistakes. They act like I am perfect. It is everyone's fault for thinking she would not lie. Okay, I see how she thinks.

Bob   April 22nd, 2008 1:27 pm ET

It's a vast right wing conspiracy…..again

Greg   April 22nd, 2008 1:27 pm ET

Hey Bill, I heard a great quote from your favorite ex-President the other day. "If you can't take a hit, don't put on the uniform!"

sozzi   April 22nd, 2008 1:27 pm ET

Is this what America wants for the next four years in the White House. More headlines about non-governing issues.

John   April 22nd, 2008 1:27 pm ET

Lets all thank Bill if it wasn't for him, I don't think Obama would have done so well. Bill you need to start asking for a pay check from the Obama Camp, since your working so hard to elect him… lol. Obama 08

Bata   April 22nd, 2008 1:27 pm ET

Both camps need some cleaning up. Obama sticking with his pastor until the news came out is not clean and Hilary's stories and memories of a war zone landing are puzzling. Having said that, I hope a democrat will be in the house.

Sherri   April 22nd, 2008 1:27 pm ET

It seems that memory lapse is a family trait of both President and Mrs. Clinton.

We need Senator Barack Obama.

P.S   April 22nd, 2008 1:27 pm ET

I can see through Bill & Hillary. If it is not their way, you take the highway. When we had the 40th anniversary of Martin Luther King, Jr. Hillary spoke and said when she got the news that Dr. King died she went home and throw her bag down and started crying. I believe that was a lie – she is a pretender even my niece said she is lying again. They think they run Washington but it is a time for change and I support Obama all the way. Atlanta, Georgie

Blueray98   April 22nd, 2008 1:27 pm ET

This is just more media manipulation in trying to make the Clintons look bad again. I’m not buying it. The Obama campaign DID play the race card (and is still playing it), otherwise they wouldn’t be labeling everyone a racist who speaks the truth about this election.

Cynthia   April 22nd, 2008 1:27 pm ET

Thank goodness they have it on tape otherwise he would lie his way out of it the same way he and Hilliary pretended to explain Bosnia.

kim nyc   April 22nd, 2008 1:27 pm ET

Is bill losing his marbles?

Sarah   April 22nd, 2008 1:27 pm ET

Obama supporters=parrots
"Bill is out of control" he showed control by refusing to play.
"Hillary is a liar, too divisive, untrustworthy" Obama said so it must be the truth!

Every dawg belong to the dog house including you Bill. Your time is up.

Cathy   April 22nd, 2008 1:26 pm ET

Hey Billary, I'll send you a quarter so you can call 1-800-WHAAAAAA…!

Phil   April 22nd, 2008 1:26 pm ET

Bill is losin' it. Why can't he just fess up and say that he made a mistake? It's not the end of the world, and it's not like his statement is going to lose him any more African American voters. I mean, it doesn't get worse than 9:1.

Paul   April 22nd, 2008 1:26 pm ET

Just so CNN political ticker readers can have it straight…here's a transcript of the interview (that is just two stories below this one on the ticker:

Interviewer: "Uhm also one more question. I heard a story on morning edition this morning which talked about how philly's black political leaders came out early in support of Senator Clinton, ah, but several have switched. And one was quoted as saying that the turning point for her was during the South Carolina primary when you referenced Jesse Jackson and what she interpreted as marginalizing Obama as the black candidate…I mean, do you think that was a mistake, and would you do that again?"

Clinton: "No! I think that they played the race card on me. And we now know, from memos from the campaign and everything that they planned to do it all along."

So, ah, clearly Bill is lying today. What he said is ON TAPE.

Isaac   April 22nd, 2008 1:26 pm ET

You people are so quick to accuse Bill Clinton. This is why I like him in fact. He won't take being toyed with. Why don't we go look and see what the context of it was like he asked. I am quite sure there is a good reason he said that, however unlikely it may be to get reported on. They just like to stir the pot.

Hal   April 22nd, 2008 1:26 pm ET

The more the Obama people keep running down the Clinton's the more votes McCain will get if he runs against Obama. I am tired of all the bad comments being made in both campaigns. I will vote for McCain if Obama wins.

Ken   April 22nd, 2008 1:26 pm ET

Bill Clinton is a hypocrite. How can he say that someone is not focused on the real issues. That all he has done was to make up trivial issues.

Bill Clinton, shut up, before you lose more fans.

T   April 22nd, 2008 1:26 pm ET

Bill Clinton should debate Pastor Hagee about the Catholic Church.

DLB from AR   April 22nd, 2008 1:26 pm ET

I am from Arkansas and Bill is our Champ. Now that being said this guy is becoming I mean has become a total train wreck and I almost have to wonder is he deliberately submarining Hillary campaign? I am for which ever Dem wins the nomination (Obama first really) but after everything Bill has done over the course of this campaign I am starting to wonder if he subconsciously or even consciously doesn't want her to win and is helping the competition. Really how many South Carolina moments can you have as the spouse of a Presidential candidate. After the first one he could have become Michelle Obama and just disappeared or at least be seen and not heard. I really hope he isn't afraid a win for her would diminish his legacy and therefore is trying to derail her campaign. Bill sit down and be quiet. We still love you in Arkansas but you really are testing the loyalty of the most dedicated Arkansan.

Go Dems 08
Obama first!

Devon Fort Myers, Fl   April 22nd, 2008 1:26 pm ET

Ok and who is exactly whining? Bill should stand by his own words, if you can't take a hit then don't suit up. The Clintons are now Soft Republicans and John McSame is a Medium Republican, we need a Democrat to run against a Republican and nothing else. Hillary please you and your husband really are doing A LOT of damage to our party, please please get out of the race. If Hillary keeps on knee capping Obama we'll make sure she NEVER becomes President of The United States.

SaneTexan   April 22nd, 2008 1:26 pm ET

I hope we will not hear alot of negative remarks if hillary wins PA, as in ,she cheated, votes rigged, I cant help but think how FL and MI 's votes are being blocked by Obamas legal team, Howard Dean needs to either step up, and quit his bias attitude for Obama or step down. The Dem party has become a joke.

mama for obama St Paul MN   April 22nd, 2008 1:26 pm ET

Obama's supporter's are up and ready to distort every word that
the Clintons says. I just can't vote for this guy who I barely know.
All talk and no substance. Where's the beef? This country will
need a leader that have been tried, tested and have a proven experienced on how our government worked. All foreign, and domestic alike. Your Obama does not have any of this!! Think twice
before you put anybody in that white house, and before we have another four years of disaster.

bp   April 22nd, 2008 1:25 pm ET

People, stop the craziness! We are all on the same team here! The democratic party continues to screw things up all on their own.

Let's end this bickering, pick a nominee and focus on November.

Hillary 2008

Emmanuel   April 22nd, 2008 1:25 pm ET

And to think Hillary supporters jumped on that article where bill was accusing obama of playing the race card saying it is truth. Tell me how you like Bill and your hyprocritical selfs now? Gosh! To think these are the same democrats that cried foul when Bush used scare tactics and now want to play the same game. This is hypocrisy at the best and may Hillary never WIN because if she does we won't have any moral standing to accuse the repubs of bad tactics since we have adopted it too.

Penn put an end to these fake democrats and elect Obama.

Jennifer   April 22nd, 2008 1:25 pm ET

Before you lash out at the press for "attacking" the Clintons check out the link on YouTube. This guy is an absolute moron. He just doesn't get it. I for one am sick of the Clintons and their "win at all cost" attitude. It's time for a change! Yes we can, Hillary. And we will!

Debby   April 22nd, 2008 1:25 pm ET

Prior to this election contest I had supported and very much admired Bill Clinton ~ even with his lapse of judgment on personal issues. That has changed 180 degrees now and I couldn't be more supportive of Barack. He truly is running against two people ~ it's not a Hillary campaign, it's THE CLINTONs' campaign. Bill has done his own damage to his legacy this time ~ just when he was considered one of the most popular and effective presidents.

Obama is our future. . . .

LJ New York   April 22nd, 2008 1:24 pm ET

Of course they are going to pick apart everything he says…he is a prominent figure and an ex president for petes sake!
Besides, with Hillary's superior recent debate performance and ability to demonstrate she is the best person for this job, the media has little else to focus on. After all…the media dare not rustle little baby Obama feathers!

Hillary 08!

Darryl From Arlington TX   April 22nd, 2008 1:24 pm ET

Bill Clinton is the Daddy of all liars, the way this liar told american people, and congress that he did not sexual relation with Monica Lewsinski is the same way he is lying now.

This man is a liar, Hillary is just like him.

Now, do we want another liar in the White House?

Chris in SC   April 22nd, 2008 1:24 pm ET

Same here Richard. I used to like him too. He has become more and more obnoxious lately.

Eric Richardson   April 22nd, 2008 1:24 pm ET

I swear every single day Bill Clinton almost is on a mission to see if he can completely erase the way Americans were starting to look at his term as President. On his way out, he was the worst. THEN people got to see George W. in all his "glory" and started to think back to the Clinton days as "Camelot"

Fast foward to this election and he's back to reminding people that there's a reason we called him Slick Willy.

Madana   April 22nd, 2008 1:24 pm ET

I wonder how many people who voted for Hillary would vote for Barack now if they hasd a chance to redo their vote. Hillary has no chance of winning against McCain – with this tactics of leading by instilling fear and take no prisioners.
I thank god for sending someone with some brains and integrity to us. I think that Barack and Brown (England) have a good chance of undoing some of the damage that the good old boys did to OUR world and OUR brothers and sisters around the world.

Terry   April 22nd, 2008 1:20 pm ET

I'd wished this had happen two days earlier..It might've had a bigger effect on the outcome today!

Old bill is not as slick as he used to be…or is he. This could be his way to gin up the white vote..to counterbalance the black vote Obama will get. Still, kinda dispicable. You expect more from a former president.

jonny   April 22nd, 2008 1:20 pm ET

I have always disliked politics, but this election is starting to make me physically ill. The way politics is played needs a drastic overhaul (for elections, and for day to day business). Fortunately, there is one candidate who wants to attempt this. Unfortunately, it is hard to play nice when everyone else plays really dirty. And the ones who play dirty usually win (sports, politics, life).

Andrew   April 22nd, 2008 1:20 pm ET

Under the veneer of the Clintons there is a cynical willingness to use anything including racism to win. In this case Clinton is revealing a narcissistic, entitled attitude which burns anyone who dares to question him.
The time for the Clinton's old school tired game playing has past but it will not go quietly into the night. 2 months ago I predicted that Hillary would "burn down the house" before she gave up. Here is what that looks like.
In terms of Bill, maybe finally we see him as he is. In love with himself and unable to stand that Barack has got the mojo. I hope PA voters will show the Clintons the door but if not, the spasm of destruction will continue. And Barack will still win.

Obama '08 NC   April 22nd, 2008 1:20 pm ET

Well, I have just about had enough of this whole mess. The Dems. need to give the nominee to Obama and Hillary Clinton needs to go back to NY and do some work. Which Bill Clinton will go quietly in the night.

Jessica   April 22nd, 2008 1:20 pm ET

Oh I see, so when Bill Clinton misspeaks, or his words are "twisted," all is forgiven. But when Obama does it, you Hillbots act like its a cardinal sin. How hypocritical, just like Hill.

Bitter   April 22nd, 2008 1:20 pm ET

Al Monroe,

You can't misinterpret what the Clintons say. It changes too fast.

Fed up   April 22nd, 2008 1:19 pm ET

LOL!!! Is anyone taking him serious any more? I pray to God that whatever the outcome today……….we have a candidate. The past 6 weeks have been a circus; both candidates did more harm than good and to continue on the same path the democratic party is on now would be detrimental.

And I will say this……..I can't speak for people who live in small towns but I live in Chicago and I am very much bitter!!! Gas is $3.95 a gallon, a dozen of eggs is almost $6, I have had to change universities because of a sharp decrease in financial aid. There definitely needs to be a change. And I am leary that an individual who has let her campaign go 10 million dollars in debt can bring about that change. But either demcratic candidate should be better than whatever foolishness McCain has in mind for this country. But if I had to vote based off the past 6 weeks………..I'd be looking to live in another country!

Susan / PA   April 22nd, 2008 1:19 pm ET

Here we go again…..Clintons say it…….then….I didnt say that……

Give us a break…….pretty bad this whole 6 weeks campaigning in PA, all the news broadcasts always report where Billary is and Chelsey are, along with where Hillary is….is this 3 against one??

Obviously it is…and Obama has shown he can keep right up..

I voted OBAMA in PA today!!!!!!!

please post this comment……

Consequently, whether its Bill, Hilary,Barack, John or the man on the street the media overstates, understates, or fabricates in a spirit of sensationalism to make a $$buck.

Typical White Woman and former Clinton Supporter for Obama   April 22nd, 2008 1:18 pm ET

To think I used to defend this guy. I still want to like him, but he's making it so difficult. If you actually want to help your wife, Bill, keep your mouth shut. Hillary's own backpedaling, doubletalk and hypocrisy are bad enough, she doesn't need yours too.

Working Stiff   April 22nd, 2008 1:18 pm ET

It's telling that JOHN EDWARDS has not endorsed Clinton, especially after her announcement a few weeks back that she would make defeating poverty a keystone of her administration. Look for JOHN EDWARDS to remain silent or endorse Obama.

Jae-NY   April 22nd, 2008 1:18 pm ET

The only thing that would make this story any funnier is if he reffered to himself in the 3rd person:

"Bill chooses not to play your games today" said the former U.S. President.

Folks we need to keep this guy as far away from Pennsylvania avenue as possible.

Obama '08

Dennis   April 22nd, 2008 1:18 pm ET

Bill, I respected you as a President. You were vastly superior to the two Bushes that preceded and followed you.

However, are you serious? You said that Obama camp played the race card on you last night. Do you seriously not remember that?

Let's put Hillary aside for a moment. Its nonsense like this that is causing Democrats to lose respect for you.

If you didn't want to answer the question, again, you should have just said that you stuck by your statement from the previous night and moved on.

IDIOT!!!!

Bill   April 22nd, 2008 1:17 pm ET

Bill's attacks always seem to take place on Election Day. Despite the rhetoric, Unless Hillary can pull 100% of the vote in Pennsylvania and 100% of the delegates, her $10 million dollar campaign deficit, lack of ideas, constant negative attacks, and out of touch commentary by Ex President Bill Clinton, will mark the end of the light at the end of 2008’s tunnel. With over one million people reaching into their own pockets to support Senator Obama’s bid for the Presidency, America’s want and need for change, and America’s need to recover from Bush’s looting of the treasury, corruption of the nation, and waging illegal and unnecessary wars, Obama’s change train is just what the doctor ordered. Besides, Obama is the only candidate to offer to return Habeas Corpus to the American People.

Clintons … like a flag in the wind …

Lou   April 22nd, 2008 1:17 pm ET

Msnbc just had both videos of this on. The first one shows clinton telling reporters he didn't say that and they are just trying to 'get him' on a manufactured story. The second one shows that he really said it word for word. I think Bill lost some brain cells when he had that health problem a couple years ago. I'm not trying to be funny…he just doesn't seem like the same guy he was back in his day.

Stephanie, PA   April 22nd, 2008 1:17 pm ET

Pill Clinton= controversial and divisive… just like Hillary's campaign. Good riddins.

Danielle, TX   April 22nd, 2008 1:17 pm ET

Why are my comments always "awaiting moderation" and never getting posted?

I'll try again: The former president is UNBELIEVABLE!! I heard the interview and he DID, in fact, say that Obama was playing the race card. Wow!!!

India in Ohio   April 22nd, 2008 1:17 pm ET

Okay bill YOU have knowledge of a memo from the Obama campaign? Same shtuff different day right? When will the bitterness on the part of the Clintons end. I know she was suppose to be our first Woman President but then that pesky Obama comes along and spoils it for her. Suck it up sister and go out with a little dignity. You too Bill.

Joe   April 22nd, 2008 1:17 pm ET

Quote from article: "Clinton did not respond when asked what he meant when he charged that the Obama campaign had a memo in which they said they had planned to play the race card."

Let's see that memo, Bill. Put your money where your mouth is.

Anonymous   April 22nd, 2008 1:16 pm ET

I hope that you play the whole tape in your news report including his so call off camera remarks (expletives and all). These people think that this is a game. It is mine and so many others reality. Right now he is trivialising a serious issue. Come on. We need a new type of politics.

Bill Clinton tickles me!!!!

Honest AmericanVoter   April 22nd, 2008 1:16 pm ET

So, let me get this right. There is verifiable evidence that former President Clinton made this comment, yet he won't own up to it. This just adds to the list of many stray comments/mis-statements that both he and Senator Clinton have made throughout this campaign. It seems as though they dismiss them as if it never happened and then expect the voters to be brain washed into believing them regardless of the obvious–it's apparently working. UNBELIEVABLE!!

How is it that the many people that are supporting and voting for this TAG TEAM don't see that this is insulting the intelligence of the American people…All to get ahead in this high school contest that this primary has turned into. I for one have not and will not be duked. They had my support once but no more – their true colors are shining so brightly that it's blinding.

People wake up and notice that this not a high school contest or a football game. This is the future of our country! Do you really want it in the hands of this team with this level of integrity and honesty??????

WonderingAImlessly   April 22nd, 2008 1:16 pm ET

Any one other than Clinton in '08, please!

B.Mendheim   April 22nd, 2008 1:16 pm ET

At the time I thought the impeachment was outrageous, though I thought him a wanna-'-be-Republican bum and sexual predator.

Now I think 'Too bad the Senate didn't find him guilty after he was impeached. Gore would have become president and our entire history would have been different, probably for the better.

Gore would have taken care of the business he was elected to; instead, we got more of the pathological Clinton-Republican drama

Now we see what both Hillary and Bill are about: Themselves.

A New Low!!!!!   April 22nd, 2008 1:16 pm ET

This is like a Clintonista despicability "triple-word score" – Bill accuses other people by "playing the race card" by calling him out for (clearly, to anyone with a brain who heard the comments, particularly in the context they were made) playing the race card, THEN he not only denies making a recorded(!) statement within 24 hours of making it, but accuses other people of "game-playing" by asking him about his own recorded(!) statement in which he was, in fact, playing a cheap, dishonest poltical game!!!!

I gotta hand it to Slick Willy. I really thought he could never surprise me with his dishonesty and shameless, but he may have "jumped the shark" with this one, even by his own VERY LOW standards. Didn't your mama ever teach you that "four wrong don't make a right," Billy?

Terry, El Paso TX   April 22nd, 2008 1:15 pm ET

Race is a huge factor in American politics. Many issues are split along racial lines. Many candidates appeal to some racial groups and not to others. Speaking of racial issues in a civil manner is not inappropriate to my mind. If President Clinton said that Obama "played the race card" then we should be able to listen to him, think about what he said, and agree or not.

We cannot pretend that we don't notice race. We cannot pretend that there are no bad feelings between Whites and Blacks, Whites and Hispanics, Blacks and Hispanics, Puerto Rican Americans and Mexican Americans, Chinese Americans and Tibetan Americans, Iraqi Americans and Iranian Americans, etc. etc.

Pretending that your senile uncle has his pants on when, in fact, he didn't put them on this morning is crazy. Pretending that slavery never existed, that there was no Civil War over the issue, that Jim Crow laws never existed, that the Civil Rights movement never existed, and that we are all happy and stupid is very bizarre behavior.

For Obama   April 22nd, 2008 1:15 pm ET

Its funny how from the time they started in the Political jobs way before even Arkansas… it was Bill and Hillary who have always played the games. They just do not like it when it gets turned against them. Watch out when it does!! They are all alike, say something then they said they didnt and then ignores and avoids the questions. Sling the negatives and smear campaign then blame it on someone else… Lies then when caught blame it on someone else.. cheat the people out of their tax dollars and then when in question blame it on someone else or totally deny it…. Do something illegal.. and all the documents miraculously disappear as well as witnesses.

Its a wonder why the nation is picking Obama 60% over Hillary 40% I hope Obama wins the Pennsylvania primary and the Dems push to end Hillarys race. If she keeps on going she will not only hurt the Dems but she will also put others peoples lives in danger with this fight.

How nice that they found each other. They're a match made in heaven.

BillaryMan...again??   April 22nd, 2008 1:14 pm ET

Clinton might numerically win PA BUT it would be an actual collosal loss if she doesn't win by DOUBLE-DIGITS. Remember Bill said his wife must win BIG to stay in the race!

Good news however is this would not happen! A single digit loss will be so demoralizing for Billary, she would have to abandon her ugly ambition and campaign going nowhere! But never imagine this woman has sense to know where to draw the lines!

Oh, for BILL he is an old man now suffering from all kids of sicknesses…where is his medical report?? Whatever…but HILLARY please get out of this race already and let America and the world have some peace!!

Nic   April 22nd, 2008 1:14 pm ET

He didn't…used to be quite such a nutter, did he? I'm pretty sure I respected him once as well, but some of his behavior in this campaign has been abominable and frankly, downright bizarre. He's really talking out of both sides of his mouth, and it amazes me that it could be fooling anybody.

Chris Chance   April 22nd, 2008 1:14 pm ET

I personally love the fact that a day or 2 ago clintons excuse for her ad being so negative and aggressive was and I QUOTE "it's no worse than what he'll have to face against the republicans"

so now its ok for democrats to use republican tactics in order to give them ammo against barrack at a later date….

This woman talks about credibility etc, yet shes already been caught lieing atleast 2 times on the campaign and then shrugs them off. her husband says stuff and she shrugs it off and shes still with him after he cheated on her….

but obama stays with a church whos paster said something stupid, and shes all on the attack that she would have left the church….

wow Ms Clinton thats great to know, you'll stick with a cheating adulterous husband, but a preist that says something wrong and your leaving u're church… interesting, i cant see how white evangelicals would ever vote for this woman.

Crystal Mitchell   April 22nd, 2008 1:14 pm ET

Lies , Lies and more lies. Just like Hillary saw sniper fire, right, do you really think her husband president or not would allow his wife and young daughter to enter a country under fire, Nooooooooo! Lies from the Clintons, and that's all it has ever been. For all of you who are looking for the Glory days of the Clintons, forget it that was 20 years ago. A lot has change, they have changed. It's time for a new leader, a young leader with progressive ideas, and ability to bring all people together from all walks of life. How can we make anything better, if we keep racism alive. That's what the Clintons have represented through out the whole campaign. So why are we surprise when he say I didn't say that!

DON GOTTI   April 22nd, 2008 1:14 pm ET

Just yet another "boo boo slip of the tongue, oh it wasn't anything" by a Clinton. Forget about it, Obama knows what it is and just shut your mouth and take it son…I don't think so!!

You have to have great respect for Senator Obama who has on a continuous basis throughout this campaign exercised "GREAT RESTRAINT" from playing into the Clinton's game. You question his strength, if he's tuff enough…there should be no question. Just stand back and take some notes folks. He is one intelligent individual, who cares what the Clinton's are saying, "They are talking loud, but ain't saying nothing"!!

If the shoe were on the other foot, they would have jumped all over it and wore it in the ground as they have so many other blurps. Talk to us about the economy, the war in Iraq, energy, healthcare…anything outside of that is irrelavant!!

Yea Right   April 22nd, 2008 1:14 pm ET

Oh Billy doesnt want to play no more, but the fun is just getting started Billy. Its time we start more questions about lies, half truths and scandles that you and Hillary have planned. Ok, Bill, let us remind you what you said.

INTERVIEWER (RE: Jackson comment): “Do you think that was a mistake, and would you do that again?"

CLINTON: "No. I think that they played the race card on me. And we now know, from memos from the campaign and everything, that they planned to do it along.

Another lie from the Clinton camp.

MP CHICAGO   April 22nd, 2008 1:13 pm ET

I love it when Bill opens his trap-though I would much rather McCain be up against Hillary-cause we will be witness to the greatest landslide in history. John will get 80% of the popular vote-and she and her husband will finally retire to Dubai where Bill regularly goes and shares military and other national security breeching secrets and where he makes his living badmouthing the country he nearly ruined.
And then there is Barack and his mobster financiers and terrorist friends…The Republicans could have run Pee Wee Herman and clobbered these two reprobates!

gary   April 22nd, 2008 1:13 pm ET

The thing is, during the 80's and 90's when Bill was a competent politician, there wasn't the same level of coverage with audio and video available instantly to everyone. Now that everything he says can be recorded and made universally available to everyone, he is constantly getting caught in his lies, half-truths, and innuendos, because they are all recorded, so can be compared. Old habits die hard, and he can't break the habit of lying. Gotta love ol Bubba!

Teddy   April 22nd, 2008 1:12 pm ET

I have been saying that American have come a long way. But there are people like Bill and his wife who would really like to play the race card. Why does he need to raise this issue today? Is he reminding that "the good people of Pennsylvania" should consider the race issue now as most of them are white. It is really bad.

Marcel   April 22nd, 2008 1:12 pm ET

As an Obama supporter I think Bill Clinton has been our best weapon. Like Iowa Bill is the gift that keeps on given. They can't control him, he is out of control. I use to think that Bill had a great politcal mind but the truth is that if his name is not on the ballot. He can't deliver. Oh my God Bill has lost it he is washed up.

Obama 08

Terry   April 22nd, 2008 1:12 pm ET

I think I would have found Hillary more favorable if it wasn't for Bill. This is new territory with an ex President being the spouse for someone now running for the nomination. Should he act more Presidential or the protective husband?

Not sure what the right answer is; I guess my vote was being more Presidential. I think in the end he would have carried more weight and been more helpful to Hillary. Admittedly, leaning toward Obama might be distorting my view. I will be interested to read what others think.

Darrell - Wisconsin   April 22nd, 2008 1:12 pm ET

Mr. President,

You were asked: "What does it say about Senator Obama that it takes two of you to beat him?" Thats when you said: "Jesse Jackson won here in 84 and in 88. Jesse Jackson ran a good campaign and Senator Obama has run a good campaign. He (Senator Obama) has run a good campaign everywhere."

Obama didn't and hasn't played the race card on you for this at all. The media did that enough. There were many Americans, even the ones who supported you who thought your comments were ill-advised.

I'm sorry Sir, but you have lied to the American public before and it is my business. I supported you, defended you and you lied right to my face. For you to say now, "no, no, no, that's not what I said", painfully reminds me of the last few years of your administration.

For the record, you did say Obama was playing the race card on you and you have memos saying that they were going to do this all along. Not only is that another lie, but a disgusting lie against someone in your own party.

For the record, you should issue a sincere apology to Senator Obama and his wife for your thoughtless and disgusting remarks and accusations.

bond   April 22nd, 2008 1:11 pm ET

Shut up already Bill! You've been playing games with the American people for the past 15 years! Go away! You have single handedly torpedoed your wife's chances!

Obama 08   April 22nd, 2008 1:11 pm ET

Al Monroe-
If Clinton doesn't win by double Digits she has lost the nomination for sure. Win, she will, but she needs to win big. And to your second point, the Clintons are proven liars. Just read THIS article. You have to be delusional not to see it!

Who are we the USA   April 22nd, 2008 1:11 pm ET

No no not today….i'm not playing your games today….mayble he'll play the game around may 6 in NC and IN…..they only play by the rules when it's convenient or in their favor….wow, just like michigan and florida….back in january they didn't care about rules and she was quoted saying "everyone knows they are not going to count"…that's when she thought it was a slam dunk, but little did she know Obama is great at basketball……now, the rules of the game are not fair and they shoud count…..hey people of Michigan and Florida, I love you all, but put the blame on where it belongs, on your local government. they are the ones the disenfranchised you not Obama…..

CDO from CT   April 22nd, 2008 1:11 pm ET

I don't understand why this surprises anyone anymore. I used to admire Bill Clinton when he was our president I never really cared for Hillary. Since this campaign has started I have lost all respect for this man. The lies that come out of his mouth I have to wonder sometimes if he even believes them. This is the same man that stood in front of cameras and told the whole nation "I have never had sexual relationship with that woman". Pennsylvania please, please, please put an end to this. It is in your court! We really need to move on. The sense of entitlement is sickening.

Where were the pundits then. I think ithere is a culture some groups come from an enviroment where the man was dominate in the famiyl thats where the hatred for clinton comes from.Obama cant win the presidency. I am a black man born in the south I have the facts on my side if anybody is interested I state why upon request.

I realized something during this primary.

I always liked Hillary and Bill before…
Then I hated Bill for cheating on Hillary and lying to the country about it. To our faces. But I still liked Hillary.

Gradually I started to forgive Bill and remember that things were good in the 1990s. I was so happy that Hillary was running this time. Obama seems like a good guy but I still am with Hillary.

After this primary though, I think Hillary should dump Bill and find a better man. Bill, you have done your best to RUIN your wife's life and she is SO much better than you. Shut up before you destroy her career forever.

So what? The Obama campaign played the race card. Quite brilliantly, in fact. When you can get something like that over on people as smart as the Clintons you've really done something. Then African-Americans turned their backs on the 2 people who've done more for them than anyone since Martin Luther King, Jr.

A brilliantly deceitful strategy. That sums up the Obama campaign and that's why I'll never vote for him.

Bill Clinton must be getting senile when he says things and then denies saying them. Sounds like a replay from the Impeachment Days, when he asked to define what "is" is. I used to have great admiration for the Clintons but no more. When they were on top, they were all smiles and benevolence. Now that they have stiff competition by Sen Obama, they have stooped to the gutter-level politics, and it does not speak well of a former President and First Lady. Their true colors are coming out and will bury them.

He's like the crazy grandfather. Every week he gets a little crazier and crazier. All the while, you stay just a few extra feet away, just in case he takes a swing.

I do not want this sexual predator in the WH, nor do I want her there.

It is actually sad that we cannot come up with better candidates!

I'm not a Hillary supporter but the best thing she could do to help her campaign is to sew Bill's mouth shut.

"You always follow me around and play these little games." Citing an interview that is on tape and giving him an opportunity to clarify or reiterate what he said – publically and for attribution – is not some "gotcha" game. It is the basic function of a free press in a society that values political discourse and democratic process. Something for which Bill Clinton expresses contempt when he finds his own words being examined.

Jan   April 22nd, 2008 1:08 pm ET

It is really sad when they hound Bill Clinton and turn everything he says around, I wish someone would concentrate on Obama as he is running for President, Not Bill Clinton.

How can Michelle Obama get up in front of a crowd and say she has never
been proud of America, and the media just lets it slip.

VERY SAD CNN

I can't believe people are buying into Oprahama's false hope after the whole "bitter" controversy. Obama said things behind closed secret doors and if it hadn't been for a media source, we wouldn't know known what was said.

Clinton is our best choice and hope for The White House. I'm glad Bill is defending his wife because most of the media is riding on it's campaign darling.

The Clintons are pathological liars. Bill is one of the smartest politicians of all time. Now, do you not think that he knows exactly what he's doing here? The Clintons are sleeze, and cannot be trusted.

As for Obama, he's a novice who speaks a lot of fluff. We need someone who has the knowledge and the experience to lead the country — someone who actually has decades of experience working across the aisle to bring about change. Talk is cheap.

My respect for Bill Clinton: Post Dec. 24, 2004 earthquake: 100%. Today: 0%. I know of no other person who has so quickly gone from one of my heros to a complete joke.

The Clinton's are just SOOOOOOO desperate to win at any cost. Either of the two of them will say anything. Maybe he was startled by SNIPER FIRE yesterday and MISSPOKE. Can't we get rid of these two?

Patty   April 22nd, 2008 1:06 pm ET

Perhaps CNN would have been kind enough to figure out what the original question was and post his full response rather than another biased slant leaving it appearing Clinton is lieing again. CNN, you could easily have posted this at the bottom of the article to help out your readers who wouldn't know where to look.

You idiots want to think that you are not capable of such things, but you are. You are no different than anyone else. If you had to speak as much as Bill or Hillary, or Obama, even McCain, you are bound to remember something in your life that didn't happen as you thought it did.

Get off your high horses. I've got news for you, the Clintons are human just like everyone else. You are looking for pefection when none exists within yourselves.

You want to see sorry? Look in the mirror.

Why can't we get something more than this kind of media sensationalism?

How hard would it have been for CNN to simple give us a direct quote from President Clinton and information about its source?

Journalists today seem to prefer "factlets" to actual facts. Heads up, Obama. They are coming after you next.

That's all the Clintonistas ever do is play their "little games". Their inuendos and lies are never-ending and, when they get caught, they lie some more. We put up with this crap throughout the 90's, and it is still going on. WHY in God's name would anyone want this despicable, lying couple, and their gang of political thugs, back in the WH? There are photos of these ballots all over the internet. Obama supporters and those concerned about voter rights need to be concerned and need to take action.

I am just so disappointed in the way they have conducted themselves in this election campaign.

Barack Obama is handling himself very well considering he is running against both Clintons. This should prove to the voters that this man is ready for anything especially if he is running against two of the saviest Democratic Politicians to ever walk the face of the earth and is holding his own.

BARAK OBAMA 08

Every time I look at Bill Clinton, I still remember the night that he was on primetime press conference wagging his finger at us all, red-faced yelling "I DID NOT HAVE… WITH THAT WOMAN!!" Then that was followed up with his prime time admission of guilt because they found the evidence. Lying under oath – now that's a president full of character, a real moral authority!! sheesh It was awful to have to explain all of that to my kids about our US President.

From that moment on, I have washed my hands of the Clintons.

Obama all the way!!

What is up with Bill. He is trying to make the point that he is not racist. Well, I don't think he is racist either, but he did play the race card, there is a difference. Playing the race card is a cold calculation about how to sway majority support in your favor, it has very little to do with being personally racist. Politicians understand that race can still be a wedge issue in the country, so they calculate and decide if there is advantage in using the card. Bill made this calculation in South Carolina, so now we just have to wait and see if it was a good calculation or not or if it had the desired impact or no impact at all.

Cogenital Lying is a spousal challenge

Margaret   April 22nd, 2008 1:02 pm ET

Why is it that none of the cable broadcast shows remember that Jesse Jackson, Jr. played the race card right between Iowa and New Hampshire. It wasn't Bill Clinton, but when he responded to it back then suddenly HE was the one playing it. What total BS.

The media is continuing to try and inject race into this election. I'm getting tired of this crap myself and I am an African-American. Why do the Clinton's always lie? I'm sick and tired of Obama having to play along with the Clinton's because they use the attack form of campaigning instead of telling us what they believe in. Oh what was I thinking, the Clinton's always LIE! It comes as natural to them as breathing. I can't wait for Obama to win the nomination from his party and finally have the Clinton's in the back seat where they belong. Oh and by the way, I'm a Republican!

Phil G. , New York   April 22nd, 2008 1:02 pm ET

Is he serious? they have the entire audio of it on Huffingtonpost.com where he accuses them of so and says he has evidence!! LIKE STOP THE POLITICAL GAMES CLINTON CAMPAIGN!! This is not the America we deserve!! Winning at all cost is a Bush and Republican philosophy. And obviously Sen. Clintons' foreign policy experience is not that great especially when you begin threatening countries before you even get into office, especially when we're battling 2 wars we do not need a third!!!

Lets get back to the issues and enough of the distractions or soon we'll see Rove McBush in the White House.

And with that said I would support Sen. Clinton in the general even though i disagree with some of her tactics, if she was to win the nomination, but right now i'm with OBAMA all the WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!! We need to unite behind either of them !! PLEASE

Awaiting moderation I'm sure.

Bill may not have said the Obama campaign played the race card, but it is clear to many that Obama's surrogates played the race card for Obama's campaign. They also accused Hillary of playing the race card regarding her comments about President Johnson and MLK. If you are looking for race to be an issue it will be. If you go back and listen to Obama's (both his and Michelle's) stump speeches when he was in South Carolina the race card was surely played among the black voters. P.S. And aren't 85-90 percent of the black voters voting for him because he is black. So for some race is an issue. For some voting for a woman is an issue. For some voting for a Morman is an issue. Hey, at least people have choices here.

His denial is just like her Bosnia sniper fire! These Clintons live in their own fantasy land and their reality is separated from the rest of the America!

How can you hold any of the Clintons accountable for anything if there is no tape recorder, video camera and plenty of third-party witnesses surround the Clintons all day long! You can not even get any truth out of Chelsea Clinton nor that general West, the military person who was with Hillary in Bosnia! Those close to the Clintons just want you to go along with WHATEVER the Clintons fabricate!

Clearly, the Clintons are DISHONEST and UNTRUSTWORTHY!

Obama, please no more need to be kind nor gracious! The Clintons are not Democrats. They are out for their own personal agenda! They are already attacking you with everything and anything!

Do everything you can, Obama. Just crush the Clintons and kick them out of the race!

richard   April 22nd, 2008 1:00 pm ET

Your article states it very clearly for those of us who stay informed by keeping up with the news. If a candidate for President really wanted True Change, they would push for each citizen to maximize their abilities and economical independence. Of course, most of Sen. Obama's backing comes from the least experienced with life, naive and/or gullible, and those who think they are above the rest by their mental aptitude (you are to be considered intelligent and bright if you are supporting his candidacy). They are living off of either parental support or loans, vote because their skin color matches his, or we have the so-called top educated who believe they have all the answers to tell others how to live. It only takes someone to work in the academia to see what a caste system it is, based on one's level of education. In other words, if you are not a PhD all other employees are lumped in together and separated from them either by way of benefits, opportunities, etc.

It would be interesting to see how he attempts to change the political process. Is he going to openly denounce all Congressmen, Supreme Court Justices, etc. who do not agree with him? Will they then have to endure what the ABC debate commentators have been exposed to the last few days? It is so ironic to see an individual who speaks of unity and prosperity for all Americans to have created such a divisive line amongst many. They are already bullying Sen. Clinton's supporters who refuse to support him as the presidential candidate as not being true Democrats. One can be a Democrat, and not believe in the individual who is selected by the party to be their candidate. That is called, "Freedom of Choice". Ooops, that might not be around for much longer…. Please post.

Enough said!

Who believes this guy?

Debbie in Texas   April 22nd, 2008 1:00 pm ET

Whenever I see Bill CLinton's face – I feel disgust. There was a time when no one could tell me anything negative about this man. Now, I feel nothing but disgust for him, I feel wounded. I can't stand to look at him or listen to anything he has to say.

Olivia   April 22nd, 2008 1:00 pm ET

I just "lost" my posted response to this article. Not the first time and I'm sure not the last.

I simply wanted to say….GET OFF BILL CLINTON'S BACK!!!

Toni   April 22nd, 2008 1:00 pm ET

OK, it's official. The man is insane and anyone who still has any faith in him is insane too. I adored Bill Clinton and felt as deeple depressed as anyone that he had clay feet. But come on … This morning I heard what he said and to stand up and try to lie his way out of it is beyond arrogance. It's just nuts. Both he and his wife are exhibiting some serious faults either in character or psyche. And those who are still supporting them are beginning to look like that final 28% of the country that still support Bush — co-dependants.

Tom   April 22nd, 2008 1:00 pm ET

Look Bill and Hillary not to be trusted Bill you know that you said that it over for you now, you need to tell Hillary to drop out now

Quinn - PA   April 22nd, 2008 12:59 pm ET

Voted for Hillary today.

I don't see the press hounding Michele Obama about her comments the way they do Bill. Double standard as usual when it comes to the spouse's of candidates.

It's Hillary or Bust is November!

Richard, FL   April 22nd, 2008 12:59 pm ET

“No, I think that they played the race card on me and we now know from memos from the campaign and everything that they planned to do it all along.”
— Bill Clinton, yesterday

Asked what he had meant “when you said the Obama campaign was playing the race card on you?" Clinton responded: "When did I say that and to whom did I say that?"

"No, no, no, that's not what I said”
— Bill Clinton, today

Voters of Pennsylvania: think honestly and carefully before you vote.

Norma, DC   April 22nd, 2008 12:59 pm ET

I never liked him, from day one. All of my friends were swooning over him and sent money to him. Now they know the truth and I never said "I told you so", but I wanted to.

So glad I've never cast a vote for a Clinton, and I don't intend to start.

God was looking out for me.

Cnn will not post this because, cnn is lower than dirt with their "Hillary Bashing." Obama, or Mccain may be "CROWNED KING" but Hillary won the election. King Obama has had the GOP. msnbc, and cnn Bashing her 24 hours a day 7 day a week for months, and she is still fighting. What a Lady, and it is very sad all the old white men are so scared of a real woman. I guess they just want a pretty face with their mouth shut.

jd   April 22nd, 2008 12:59 pm ET

What is important is that we get a Dem in the White House, be it Hillary or Barak. The Supreme Court is the real prize of this election. We need to stop tearing our two candidates, either of which would be a million times better than Weathervane McCain.

another flat-out lie from the Clintons… how can he say he didnt accuse Obama of using the race card when we have him on tape saying that?

Joe   April 22nd, 2008 12:58 pm ET

Like her Tuzla comment, the problem here is that this statement by Bill is demonstrably false. The transcript, and the recording, from yesterday prove him wrong.

Maggie   April 22nd, 2008 12:58 pm ET

The media just jumps at the chance to jump on Bill. Where is Michelle Obama? Perhaps she is at an Anti-american church meeting with her children…..

Please…stick to the facts..

Anyone want a waffle? I hear the bidding is now over $100.00…..

Boston for OBAMA   April 22nd, 2008 12:58 pm ET

What is good for the Goose is good for the Gander. According to the media he thought the microphone was off when his feet were being held to the fire regarding his prior comment involving Jesse Jackson and South Carolina, and used profanity. The Clintons must believe they are elitist and are so far out of touch with those of us who ca read, listen and understand what comes out of their (CLINTONS) mouths. Liars

SarahJ   April 22nd, 2008 12:58 pm ET

wow Bill.

I can't believe Hillary let him out of the cage today. Stupid choice.

Molly   April 22nd, 2008 12:58 pm ET

GO HILLARY !!!
At least Bill will speak with reporters – not like obama who refused to speak or debate. He can only deliver a prepared speech from the teleprompter. He is so afraid to make a mistake.
Even with all the millions $$ he has wasted in PA – he will not win – and even if he wins the remaining states he will not have enough to take the nomination. So… now would be the perfect time to
STEP ASIDE – for the good of the party. OBama is radical and his background is far too questionable to be President.

WW   April 22nd, 2008 12:58 pm ET

Bill Clinton cannot tell the truth. In fact, both Clintons have the same problem. It's sad enough to have Clinton once. No more Clintons!
Bill and Hillary Clintons are pathological liars. Go away!

Jake T - PA   April 22nd, 2008 12:57 pm ET

Liars both of them. His wife also said she would give driver's licenses to illegal aliens, then later denied saying that. His wife also supported NAFTA and then said she didn't. His wife said she was shot at in Bosnai by snipers, then made a big joke out of it after that was proven to be a lie.

What can the Clintons be quoted on?

Don't vote for liars.

ya basta   April 22nd, 2008 12:57 pm ET

Patrick   April 22nd, 2008 12:57 pm ET

Why is honesty and the truth so difficult a concept for President Clinton to grasp? Is it really necessary to lie about something he clearly said just 24 hours ago?

If I were a different kind of person, I'd probably enjoy watching Bill and HIll self-destruct so publicly and obviously. As it is, it makes me sad.

They were something other than a bad joke once, with real achievements to point to and be proud of. They have no idea (or just don't care) what they are doing to not only their party, but their legacy. Very sad.

Penn State   April 22nd, 2008 12:57 pm ET

The media is continuing to try and inject race into this election. I'm getting tired of this crap myself and I am an African-American. South Carolina was so long ago so why is the media still trying to bring it up to stir up some controversy. This is really starting to get on everyones nerves and the Obamabots are fueling it.

Mary   April 22nd, 2008 12:57 pm ET

I have stopped believing anything that Bill & Hillary have to say after they both have consistently LIED TO AMERICA. I wished we can put a lie detector on Bill & Hillary. That would be the ONLY way I would know if they are saying the truth and whether they really mean what they say.

Bill, it wasn’t just you who said it. Also, Hillary (MLK), G Ferraro, Ed Rendell and a few of your surrogates have brought up both race and gender OFTEN.

So stop the whining. Bill, IF YOU CAN’T STAND THE HEAT GET OUT OF THE KITCHEN!

All we Americans can’t stand are the lies of Bill & Hillary!

Bill Clinton is not running for the Presidency!! Stop giving him such a visable presence!! Each time you draw attention to him in an attempt to distract from Hillary's campaign, you disrespect and insult all women. She is the candidate, not her spouse! Unless you plan to pick apart the comments made by Mrs Obama and Mrs McCain, and give them a significant presense, you're showing a gender bias against female candidates.

I've had enough of the HATE Arrows his camp throws out every chance they get!

common sense   April 22nd, 2008 12:56 pm ET

Why even bring up Jesse Jackson???

Out of ALL the previous candidates to win S.C., Bill chose to state that "Jesse Jackson also won in SC". Not John Edwards. Not any other candidate

HE made the statement. Somehow he's blaming someone else???

Now he is denying the very "race card complaints" that he JUST MADE!!!

President Clinton,

In today's world digital recording and other technology allows people to record and disseminate everything you say. You cannot so easily deny your words and actions and think people will buy it.

Just a heads up.

Mike in Scranton, PA   April 22nd, 2008 12:56 pm ET

Obama's campaign did play the race card in South Carolina, and Obama admitted as much in one of the debates. The entire time that Obama and media had been saying over and over again that they hadn't played the race card, his local press secretary there in S.C. just prior to their primary had been circulating a campaign-approved multiple page memo doing just that: playing the race card!

whatever   April 22nd, 2008 12:55 pm ET

Ha,ha,ha,haaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

Take a chill Bill!

Hey Bill – wasn't last week's debate GREAT? Ha, ha,ha,haaaaa

This is too funny! See Bill – now do Hillary's supporters see why Obama is not talking to the NEWS-MEDIA right about now???????

Oh yeah… you Hillary's supporters yesterday saying Obama is afraid to talk to the media! Re-read the story above – what did Bill Clinton tell the news-media today – you have mischaracterized what I said to get another "CHEAP" story to divert the American people from the real urgent issues!

Well Bill – you should have been a man last week during the debate that you sat-up and paid for to try and make Obama look bad! Where were you during last week debate when Obama was trying to get the debate on track about what the Americans wanted to hear about jobs, gas, and the war?

Hey Bill – just chill out! If you don't want to get hit – then don't put the uniform and pads on! And, as per Hillary – Baby if you can't stand the heat – get out the kitchen!!!!! And hey – by the way – you don't hear Obama complaining TODAY! Is the media picking on you today Bill?

I can die now! I have been waiting for this moment! I knew yesterday -with the media playing up Hillary that soon – the news media would turn on the Clintons just like wolves!

Go Obama! Last week after the debate – you put the news media on notice – that they will play by your games and not theirs!

That's just their mentality, they are GREEDY for power and status. It's that simple.

I swear, if I hear anymore stories from Hillary herself about when she was… "a little girl"… I think I'll just scream!!

Well I have not read the question or answer, but if the media decided to skew it on purpose by just reading a small part of an answer and nothing more, then I'm amazed people still have jobs reporting.

The facts simply dont' matter anymore in American journalism except for a few people….

Peter   April 22nd, 2008 12:53 pm ET

When will the Clintons realize that their rhetoric needs to be at least loosely based upon the truth? He is now denying statements he made within the last day? Is he misremembering? Was it late at night?

How is there anyone that still has any patience for these two? Do we really wan't to spend the next eight years talking about what the definition of "is" is, listening to stories about sniper fire at a photo op, or discussing memo's that no one else knows exist?

I am not so naive as to think that other politicians don't distort the facts frequently, but this is pure fabrication. The voter's need to send a message to stop insulting our intelligence.

Tim from Orlando   April 22nd, 2008 12:53 pm ET

This primary is about who has more delegates not about who is winning Big States that democrats always carry. Hillary, show me the number of delegates. When calling other States: "small" and saying that they don't count, isn't that disrespecting the voters? Why campaigning in WY, VT and Montana if their votes don't count?
That's why we didn't want them in Virginia. He is going around talking trash like a little boy. If the presidency is more work, where did Bill Clinton find the time to paly around with Monica?

The same game the Republicans have been playing for years. That game?

We need a CHANGE—Obama 08

C from the D   April 22nd, 2008 12:52 pm ET

I really used to like Bill Clinton but man he's making himself look like a donkey's rear. Oh, by the way, Obama will lose PA but not by very much, both camps will claim victory, and this will drag on until they force the super delegates to choose. Obama will win, he's the right choice anyway, so why not end it already?? If you think the primary is doing damage, watch what would happen if the popular vote and the pledged delgate vote is overturned. I doubt you'd have 15 black voters actually vote in the general election and Hill would lose ina landslide.

Yes carry the real story, that the male dominated Obama media wants to twist and spin anything against Hillary Clinton. It's the "there's a girl in the club house" syndrome. I really thought better of our country, even India has had a woman leader.

Noprty   April 22nd, 2008 12:50 pm ET

Like his wife, he is so accustomed to lying that it's second nature for him. I can't believe what an idiot devoted-follower of the Clintons I was only a few months ago. NO MORE!

Fed up with Bill's ego   April 22nd, 2008 12:50 pm ET

Bill Clinton, you are an idiot..and to think I actually voted for you..

YOU NEED TO KNOW   April 22nd, 2008 12:50 pm ET

By Denying it, is that the same as just flat out telling a bold face LIE?

Southern White Male   April 22nd, 2008 12:50 pm ET

Float the idea and when someone calls you on it "deny, deny, deny." It's an old tactic. The Clinton's are desperate.

Bessie   April 22nd, 2008 12:50 pm ET

Voters, don't be distracted by these serial Hillary bashers. All they are promoting is hatred. We've known Hillary for years cause she's been in the public eye, and there will be no surprises. Hillary is a figher and she will fight for us. She is a candidate with solutions to help fix our economy, our country. Elizabeth Edwards recently spoke out and praised Hillary's Universal Health Care Plan. Hillary CAN and WILL deliver. Vote for HILLARY!

kgw   April 22nd, 2008 12:50 pm ET

Ticker: Bill Clinton says Obama played race card

Why is CNN leading with a lie? Clinton did not say this, yet you are reporting that he did.

Why are you lying CNN? Why?

Rick in Florida   April 22nd, 2008 12:49 pm ET

AND HE CLAIMS THERE'S A MEMO SAYING OBAMA HAS ALWAYS PLANNED TO PLAY THE RACE CARD AGAINST THE CLINTONS. WELL, WILL SOMEONE MAKE HIM PROVE IT?? OBVIOUSLY HE CAN'T AND WILL DODGE AND EVADE AGAIN. AMORAL FAMILY TO THE EXTREME. SAVE US PENNSYLVANIA!!!!!!!!!!!

John, PA   April 22nd, 2008 12:49 pm ET

The same old SOUTH CAROLINA GAME is still being played!!!

VOTE OBAMA PA!!!!!

KAM   April 22nd, 2008 12:49 pm ET

Just keep on talking Bill. It will continue to win Obama votes.

OBAMA '08!!

Bridgette   April 22nd, 2008 12:49 pm ET

This man is a nut. That is why sometimes you should just fade into history. I do believe all politicians lie a little because that is what we as the American citizens in a sense have forced them to do but this is just ridiculous.

And when I say we have forced them to lie is because when politicians come out and be honest with us they don't win. So they have to play this silly little game about all of the stuff they are going to do and no they have no intentions of doing it. And it is because we have trained them to run their campaigns like that. So when one speaks to us as if we are adults we jump all over them becaue the media has trained us to do this.

Of course he said it he's on tape as saying it, but, I will guarentee when you read this blog later on today there will be some people who will call him a liar and in this case he is and then there will be some people who will blame this on Obama which in reality he had nothing to do with it. So who are the fools them or us. I would say us because we keep putting the same people in there repeatdly and keep expecting different results.

I don't think Bill Clinton is a racisist. But I also don't think me as an African-American owe him anything. It was his job as the president to make the country better for its citizens. I don't know why black people are singled out and told that we owe the Clinton's something because we don't. They got into office because we voted for him. If anything he owed us if you think like that, but, I don't.

The reality of it is Hilary has been busted in so many lies that is why she is loosing support. Not just from black people but from all people. It has nothing to do with Obama being black it is because she has proven herself to be a liar.

But the American public will vote for her anyway because we like being lied too. Then if she gets in office and is proven to be a big liar everyone will have to shut-up becaue you knew it going in.

Sandra   April 22nd, 2008 12:49 pm ET

Shame on you Bill Clinton! As a matter of fact, shame on Hillary Clinton for sending Bill making those statements and afterward saying otherwise, acting like the voters can be played around like children. No respect at all.

For the love of this independent   April 22nd, 2008 12:49 pm ET

At least when Michelle said something stupid, Obama was able to sit her down for a little while. The former president is singlehandedly giving the Race to Obama. My question is why?

Kevin Leo (Jonesboro, GA)   April 22nd, 2008 12:49 pm ET

As someone who was supporting Clinton up until the South Carolina primary, I did not take my queue or lead from Barack or his campaign. I have my own ears and eyes and can make my own decision. Clinton's comments about Barack and Jesse came off as condescending and dismissive to me. Hillary's comments regarding MLK and LBJ were equally as bad especially considering her self-admitted "Goldwater girl" days.

These comments prompted me to start looking at Barack and John Edwards more closely and I ended my allegiance to the Clintons at that time. I can not honestly say if I would have supported Edwards all the way but once his chances diminished, I pledged my full support behind Barack.

The Clintons will never admit their own hand in the chasm they have created between their former supporters, of all races and genders, and themselves. Everything is a conspiracy against them, ignoring the fact that this nomination truly was Hillary's to lose, which is precisely what she is doing!!!

Kathy, Texas   April 22nd, 2008 12:49 pm ET

Well Obama dealt the hand first by saying that he wouldn't play the race card ; THEN HE DID just a few months into campaigning! What a crybaby Obama is and his campaign people are too…you dealt the deck Obuddy…don't cry because someone else wants to play the game!

This is why single mothers will have a big say in just who is president next. All this whining and name calling is something single mothers deal with ALL day EVERY day and they REFUSE to hear it from adults! It's expected from kids…..but adults…..ludicrous.
All these dem noms and ex-presidents need a time out. But I'm more the spare the rod, spoil the child on these adult "issues".

Angus McDugan   April 22nd, 2008 12:49 pm ET

Once again the Clinton's are having issues with the truth. Darn they hate it when the truth does not serve them well.

Angus in '08!

Len in Washington   April 22nd, 2008 12:49 pm ET

I guess that "Reverse Spin" enables a better "Back Peddle!"

Either way, this response has a definite odor.

Tejano   April 22nd, 2008 12:49 pm ET

Can't wait for the fireworks in Denver. The 68 convention will look like a walk in the park compared to this one. All the Radicals will be out in force. Showing America what the Democratic party is all about.

Expect Riots if Obama does not get the nomination. A walk out from the Moderates if Obama does get it. Either way the loser is the Democratic Party.

Let the fun begin and may the best PATRIOT win.

SLO Bear   April 22nd, 2008 12:49 pm ET

Attention, superdelegates: The Clintons have really brought shame on their legacy, and the cost of their tactics may be great for our kids and grandchildren. Please act courageously.

Greg, NY   April 22nd, 2008 12:49 pm ET

What is he talking about? If the quote in the article below this one is accurate, then he obviously said that Obama played the race card against him. What is so difficult about this? lol

Special Elevator   April 22nd, 2008 12:49 pm ET

It takes a devious person to rely or depend heavily on the black vote to get elected. Then turn on them, when they don't follow your plan to get your wife elected so that you can return to the White House. There's an elevator waiting for a man like that, to take him quickly to his here after.

jennyb   April 22nd, 2008 12:49 pm ET

He is clearly lying. The taped interview doesn't lie. He said it and now he is back tracking. The Clintons are both liars!!!!!!!!

Awaiting Results in Texas   April 22nd, 2008 12:48 pm ET

Uh, was old Billy Boy red faced and shaking that crooked finger in someone's face?

Don't some STD's make you go crazy?

Doesn't too much booze make your nose red and bulbous?

Don't all Clintons misremember, get mischaracterized, misspeak or just out and out lie?

Are we supposed to fell sorry for the victim Bill now?

skip   April 22nd, 2008 12:48 pm ET

Is he suffering from 'memory lapse syndrome" or what? Obviously Hillary know of his antics on this… what's her take. If she's to have ANY chance, she'll need to keep on leash and BIG muzzle on him… when will she realize it?

Carol/Lansing Michigan   April 22nd, 2008 12:48 pm ET

Dear God Bill, when you hit rock bottom it's best not to dig.

berksdan   April 22nd, 2008 12:48 pm ET

Bill, Bill, Bill. I worry about you. You really appear to be losing it.

The comments – both times – were recorded. Don't try to rewrite history.

You and your wife represent politics as it was. The American public is looking for politics as it could – and should – be.

Thanks for listening.

dave   April 22nd, 2008 12:48 pm ET

Hmm..flip flop, being defensive. he did paly a race card game against Obama. Bill has lost credibility in this campaign and my vote will never go to the clintons. This is the decisive politics.

booker1,durham,nc   April 22nd, 2008 12:48 pm ET

oOKAYY, MEEDIAA …. THE TRUTH HAS FINALLY COME OUT, IT IS YOU WHO KEEP US AMERICANS SO FULL OF FEAR AND RESENTMENT, IT IS YOU WHO HAS NOT BEEN TOTALLY HONEST ABOUT WHOSE ISSUES ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT. SO WHY DON'T YOU GUYS JUST WAIT AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS AND NOT GIVE YOUR VERSIONS OF WHY WE NEED TO HAVE THIS SCHOOL YARD FIGHT!

MovingOn   April 22nd, 2008 12:48 pm ET

Because he has no proof. If you think the Clintons are sitting on a memo that would sink Obama's campaign while they go down you must be crazy. He threw that out there to try and grab any last minute racist votes. Typical Clinton behavior, throw a grenade into a room, leave and see what happens.

Republican for Obama!

Tony in Chicago   April 22nd, 2008 12:47 pm ET

MONDAY: "I think that they played the race card on me,” said Clinton, “

TUESDAY: Bill Clinton denied Tuesday he had accused the Obama campaign of ‘playing the race card’

These two (Clintons) are a piece of work… WHEW… I have been "spinned" beyond belief…..

Rick in Florida   April 22nd, 2008 12:47 pm ET

The Austrian   April 22nd, 2008 12:47 pm ET

Jeez, even when the recorded proof is there, he can't own up to it. What a fool. The Clinton's will do EVERYTHING to steal this election.

Former Clinton Supporter   April 22nd, 2008 12:47 pm ET

YOU SAID IT BILL!!
Gee is Bill avoiding the 'Media' C'on Bill we know you said it its all over the news!
Like really Bill I think you did more than 'inhaled'

THIS is exactly what the voters dont need more 'Mis-Spoke' (LIES)!
The Clintons are destructive ~ they are destroying the party, they have destroyed their legacy, they have destroyed their campaign and they have destroyed the trust of the American people!

Eric   April 22nd, 2008 12:47 pm ET

I was too young and not interested in politics when he was a president. Could someone tell me if he was such a lunatic when he ran office?

Pretty good to have one statement on top of the other on the same page. Gives you an idea how much he's losing it.

Staci   April 22nd, 2008 12:46 pm ET

Liar, liar, pants on fire.

Bitter   April 22nd, 2008 12:46 pm ET

You and Hillary are now free to run for President and 1st Lady (don't care which is which) of Bosnia.

Don't go away mad, just go away!

Teresa W. of Newport Bch, CA   April 22nd, 2008 12:46 pm ET

Oh no you didn't say that Bill. You are lying about your own lie. Wow, you purposely tried to start more controversial issue from a Clinton lie.

Go Away. Stay out of the Campaign. You are not running for president.

Pat Va   April 22nd, 2008 12:46 pm ET

I think Bill has lost it. I listened to that interview and that was indeed one of the first things out of his mouth…that Senator Obama had played the race card. I sense senility taking its course!!!

BILL CLINTON HAS BEEN A TARGET OF THE MEDIA FROM DAY ONE. HE IS A TWO TERM PRESIDEDNT OF THE UNITED STATES.
SURVIVED AN IMPEACHMENT PROCEEDING AGAINST HIM. AND IS A FAVORITE ON THE SPEAKING TOURS. IF SOME OF YOU DETRACTORS COULD HAVE ACCOMPLISHED A TENTH AS MUCH AS BILL CLINTON, PERHAPSYOU CAN HAVE YOUR PICTURE ON SOME NEWSPAPERS BACKPAGES.

Maybe someone should alert the Clintons; Video and Audio recordings are NOW on the internet… that big tunnel of communication where everything you say and do is recorded…..even as far as 15 years back.

I guess everyday the Clintons are brand new and the only truth that is spoken are the lies that are told from one minute to the next….

Retire the Clintons and let's Move On!

RT   April 22nd, 2008 12:43 pm ET

Where is the story about Hillary saying she would "totally Obliterate" Iran thats been circling throughout the media today?

April in Texas   April 22nd, 2008 12:43 pm ET

To MARTY MCCLAIN via (Pennsylvania could decide Clinton's fate )

I hope you read this as you asked for a reason.. I am for Obama and yes in Texas. I will not vote for Hillary or any Clinton for the simple fact of NAFTA/globalization.. My husband went from a 50k a yer income and full time employment to contract work and 30k. We lost all benefits including our health care holidays, holiday pay, and any resemblance of job security.. It makes no since to lay off hard working folks just to send jobs overseas just because its cheaper. Laying off people who have been with a company for 10 plus years just to save a buck or two. You wanted a reason, well that is just one of MANY I could list as for why this typical white family will NEVER vote for a Clinton..

Bill you and your wife lie as easy as it is for me to eat. YOU SAID IT.. Its on tape, just admit it or better yet shut up please as your wife doenst need any help losing… Her campaign is in the red and in debt and I pray PA is as smart as I believe them to be..
