Hillary Clinton's campaign said that as of 11:30 p.m. ET Tuesday night, they had raised nearly $2.5 million since the state was called for the New York senator – what they called their "best night ever" — with 80 percent of that money coming from new donors.

Her campaign Web site is using her victory in a fundraising appeal that calls for $5 donations.

i was one of the new donors too. i scrimped in another area and sent $15. obama isn't the only one inspiring us "little people."

hillary has the experience, the intellect, the solutions, the determination, the vision, and the strength this country needs to begin to recover from the last 7+ years!!

ITS TIME FOR A CHANGE   April 23rd, 2008 4:30 am ET

I highly doubt this is true, and if so, Im sorry to all you folks who donated, you guys should be filling up your tanks at 3.80 a gallon, The clintons have 109 MILLION DOLLARS sitting in the piggy bank. And she only cut into his lead by a WHOPPING 10 delegates. Great Job PA letting all the negative spin & a negitave campaign continue on even if she was donated 2.5 million she is still in debt by over 7.5 million. mean while you have good OLD johnny McShame sitting pretty going on the "FORGOTTEN STATE TOUR" through "URBAN AMERICA" if that isnt a slap in the face to people i dont know what is.

Oh well I guess our nation is content on being in debt to other countries, is content with our housing crisis, content with our lack of jobs, content with fuel prices, content with same old "Washington DC" with nothing but lies and distorted info like "we arent in a recession" -Bush, content with having a adminstration who looks out for special interests & when they take office it will be politics as usual, content with a nation that we are seeing our brothers, our sisters, our kids, our friends, our family continue to get shipped off to Iraq & ARE BEING KILLED! in a war that no one even knows why we are there but everyone knows why we are there (OIL), content with an education system that is at best a C- where kids dont even have books. OUR NATION WILL NEVER CHANGE UNLESS EVERYONE LOOKS IN THE MIRROR AND HOLD YOURSELF ACCOUNTABLE.
I HOPE ONE DAY WE CAN SEE A CHANGE! AND WE WILL JAN 09

YES WE CAN AMERICA!

aliou salam Florida   April 23rd, 2008 4:26 am ET

that is how stupid we are!! and she sure knows it.

How much of that money will be used to pay PA Vendors?

Get your money before she leaves, otherwise you will join the Hillary and Bill clinton debtors club world wide.

K'la   April 23rd, 2008 4:18 am ET

I don't have a job because i am a full time student with severe learning disabilities, but tonight I knew that Hillary pulled off the win with half as much as Obama and frankly to me this says she can do twice as much with the same financial backing. We have to push harder now than ever because if we lose many democrats I know are planning to defect to McCain and I have to consider that avenue myself. Another republican would give us the chance as the white house again in 4 years, while a democratic failure would shut us out again for who knows how long. This is why experience is so important. If Obama gets elected and screws up minorities and democrats will be SOL. Things will be much worse for the nation and the party. Hillary HAS to win and I’ll put my meager funds into the pot for her.

Roland   April 23rd, 2008 4:17 am ET

For Obama to not be ready on day 1 He sure has Hillary copying fund raising strategies from the public. His campaign management proves hes more than ready. Bill had littlle more experience than Obama for his day 1 as President. Obama will surround himself with the right people for all americans sake. No lobbist money here. You catch on Hillary but a little late. We the people trust Obama due to honesty from day 1 and Unity from day 1. Hillary is good but she's no Obama. Stay positive and on the issues please. Thanks

goldenstate   April 23rd, 2008 3:48 am ET

Obama spent $12 million and lost Pennsylvania. What a waste of his supporters money.

Newman   April 23rd, 2008 3:46 am ET

Unless the Clintons have a hidden talent for playing high-stakes no limit hold'em that I'm not aware about, there's no way she is going to be able to stay in the race much longer. Her campaign bus has run out gas, and it's $4.00 a gallon! Hillary's chickens have come home to roost.

rose   April 23rd, 2008 3:43 am ET

she is a BIG FAT LIAR.

Apollyon   April 23rd, 2008 3:42 am ET

Yeah, I believe that like I believe everything else that comes out of their piehole. The only way to believe that garbage is if they give out the list of "new" donors with a timestamp to prove how much and when they got it. Remember, this "piece of work" will say, do, tell anything. This is why she has a 60% untrustworthy rating! It also shows that the people that are voting for her don't care if someone is trustworthy. "You know, I have a feelin' you is lyin' out you patoot, but what da heck… you got my vote!" PATHETIC!

Diana Hamilton   April 23rd, 2008 3:39 am ET

Don't depend on the media to do fact checking against Hillary. They have proved useless thus far.

Vig   April 23rd, 2008 3:39 am ET

I donated again to Hillary. I will keep donating because she is the real deal - a fighter all the way, not some pansy buttocks.

ed   April 23rd, 2008 3:36 am ET

i just donated and i am incouraging al my friends what a great night for hillary , with all the money spent by the obama campaign and many of the major newspapers tv and media outlets relentless bad press towards her she still managed a double digit win , the people of pa are smarter than the slanted press and overwhelming attack adds by the oboma campaign , the politics of change really didnt resonate well and the silly speeches with no substance and solutions didnt fool the people of this state so come on indiana and north carolina see a new wave of momentum from the hillary campaign sweep through !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Amusing...   April 23rd, 2008 3:25 am ET

And? Having a big war chest doesn't help if there's no resonance with the majority of voters. Having ENOUGH money to get the message out vs. having MORE than enough doesn't seem like it's that useful.
There's only so much money you can cram into advertisements before people get sick of it.

One has to wonder what happened to Shrub's huge war chest, since he didn't need to use too much of it running as a war and fear candidate in 2004.

Nic   April 23rd, 2008 3:17 am ET

Go Obama, they said you would be out first because you would not be able to raise enoght money you did by quadroppling their. So tell me something foxes, how would she manage the economy when she can note even manage her campain financies. She owns over 15million dollar now. Stop voting for the same washington Name just because you had heard them before.Remember Bush, just like will be Clinton. She is trying to get into the white house so she can fight those who impioched her husband rather you .She condems China now after setting up free trade deals with them.Come back to reality American. Our nation is perishing we need to look at someone who will restore our image at home and abroad and change the direction we are takeing.your vote counts.Vote Obama

Dylan   April 23rd, 2008 3:10 am ET

I just donated $25… to the Obama Campaign. Hillary must be stopped. She is destroying the Party I love.

America Post Obama   April 23rd, 2008 3:08 am ET

Fantastic! Amazing! She beat Obama and all of that lobbyist's money thrown away ( what a waste of good money, could have been put to better use) they has been given to him under the table. Ain't gold all that glitters!

Peter in Canada   April 23rd, 2008 3:02 am ET

Lets see: $10M in debt minus $2.5M in donations = $7.5M in debts.
Congratulations on the win and good luck in Indiana you will need it!

Nic   April 23rd, 2008 3:01 am ET

Hillary infact you are really a hypocrate. Now you expext me to send you some money?what for?For you to use it against an hornest person so you can paint him as "out of touch`´ while you make your stupid comments about attacking Iran.I tell you this if the American people really want peace which is what their constitution believes in,i think they will find out what direction you intend to go and you,ll be done.We need a president who who listerns to others points of views and not a liar like you……lair lair lair.

Anonymous   April 23rd, 2008 3:00 am ET

I really dont understand why people vote for Hillary, IMHO, everything about her personality turns me off as far a leadership, intgrity, honesty, humility. She comes off as truely arrogant

Michelle   April 23rd, 2008 2:51 am ET

So was that an organized stunt too? I don't trust that "Scranton gal". She's whoever she needs to be to win, win win!…a wolf in sheep's clothing. It would be nice to be able to trust the next president.

Indiana for Hillary   April 23rd, 2008 2:47 am ET

I've donated twice and am now going to donate again. You go, Hillary! Truly inspiring!

The O   April 23rd, 2008 2:47 am ET

Wow good win Hillary. But 6 delegates just 6 come on now a win is a win but when you are loosing by 139 delegates that is not much help.
but I say again good win.

OBAMA 08

Kobs   April 23rd, 2008 2:46 am ET

Liar, Can the jpurnalistsplease check this out for us.

richard   April 23rd, 2008 2:43 am ET

I do not have much but I will donate $100 more to her campaign. Go Hillary you are the President weve been waiting for.

Angela Marshall   April 23rd, 2008 2:27 am ET

I don't believe it. Hillary is bankrolling her campaign and she needs to pay her bills!

kimere   April 23rd, 2008 2:21 am ET

Clinton needed to win by at least 20% to make meaningful headway. She needs to win th remaining contests by 20% TO BE ABLE TO MAKE HER ANTICIPATED ARGUEMENT. It appears virtually impossible to catch Obama considering the "slim" victory in PA. This is the time the superdelegates should "make the call" and this is for the sake of the party. Republicans will be at a very great advantage if this continues. The Obama camp should make the call to super delegates now.

BHO   April 23rd, 2008 2:19 am ET

Those donations are real waste.

Tom,des moines   April 23rd, 2008 2:16 am ET

Hillary supporter! Please go to her website and make some donation now! Go Hillary 08!

kimere   April 23rd, 2008 2:14 am ET

How can one be sure the Republicans are not a part of this… as it appears the are advantaged as this race goes on…

Jesse   April 23rd, 2008 2:13 am ET

~~

This must be true… just like Clinton's claim of snipers!

Anthony   April 23rd, 2008 2:04 am ET

I, for one, was one of those new donors. She has shown that she will be the strong leader that we need. GO HILLARY '08!!

Peter Damoah-Afari   April 23rd, 2008 2:03 am ET

They should race more then…because they are going to face sounds in NC.

Avis, Richton Park, IL   April 23rd, 2008 2:01 am ET

She raised $2.5 million, isn't she int the red with almost that amount?

So, actually she'll have to use that money to put her in the black!

HENRY   April 23rd, 2008 2:00 am ET

Now, with only 10 point win, it was not enough. There will be no more
good money funding on a second place finish. Look down the road,
those with eyes, cannot see. ?

CB   April 23rd, 2008 1:57 am ET

SHE NEED 2.5 MILLION MORE TO PAY HERSELF BACK AND 10 MILLION TO PAY HER VENDORS. WHY WASTE YOUR MONEY.

SHE IS IN THE HOLE AND WILL PUT THE COUNTRY IN THE HOLE JUST TO SERVE HERSELF.

Benjamin   April 23rd, 2008 1:56 am ET

maybe she can pay her debts now ;-)

bond   April 23rd, 2008 1:56 am ET

Are you Billary supporters just plain mental midgets? This race has been effectively over since super tuesday and that's a fact! Billary won PA… netting a handful of more delegates, which Obama will obviously win back in NC. Do you morons not realize his plan was to drain her campaign financially in PA, by purposely outspending her (which he can afford), causing her to spend as well. Unless she loans herself more money, her bankroll is spent and will have nada for NC & IN (and beyond if she's selfish enough to continue on). The superdelegates will not overturn the popular vote, the elected delegates, and the states Obama has won. As every exit poll in virtually every contest has shown, educated voters support Obama. Maybe this is why Billary supporters (and their candidate) can't do the math that clearly shows her demise long ago. Get a clue!

Demetrius   April 23rd, 2008 1:50 am ET

Good! This might just be enough to pay off her debts…

Rohit Singh   April 23rd, 2008 1:49 am ET

Stop the Drama, Vote Obama

Lucas Hart   April 23rd, 2008 1:46 am ET

And Obama spent 11 million to lose!!

Fran Says   April 23rd, 2008 1:25 am ET

Better try to get to the $10 million that your campaign is currently in debt. Just think . . . America's purse strings could be next . . .

sue   April 23rd, 2008 1:24 am ET

What a dent…more negative ads?

dj   April 23rd, 2008 1:23 am ET

hmmm, she raised $2.5 million, the campaign is still about $10 million in debt, so i guess that means they're only about $7.5 million in debt now…

Grif   April 23rd, 2008 1:11 am ET

She's Raising Hell…. Keep it up Girl….

alice2   April 23rd, 2008 1:11 am ET

Barack financially BUSTED YOUR BANK ROLL, give it up Hillary, you can't catch up to Barack. He's way ahead of you. & more $ is rolling in for him every SECOND. LOST AGAIN, HILLARY.

Goody - Oregon 4 Hillary   April 23rd, 2008 1:10 am ET

Hopefully we will contribute enough money, that Hillary will have the same shot as Obama at buying a ticket to the WH!!!

Go Hillary!

and it was with a great joy to again donate $100 to her campaign

Nick - Arlington, VA   April 23rd, 2008 12:29 am ET

Yep…donated another $25 to Obama tonight

She won, but it isn't enough…and if it wasn't for her fear mongering and her using Republican campaign tactics, it would have only been by 6. She's trying to cripple our party in order to be able to run again in 4 years.

White Folks 4 Obama   April 23rd, 2008 12:28 am ET

Jeremiah   April 23rd, 2008 12:25 am ET

The longer she stays in the race, the more folks like her over Obama. Barak can't stop her despite outspending her by 3x. His gamble worked short-term and is not paying off.

vicki   April 23rd, 2008 12:23 am ET

I am giving more money tomorrow. She is awesome! I feel safe with her int he White House!

DemocraticBaron   April 23rd, 2008 12:17 am ET

Good for her. Now she can use this money to prolong the democratic party's destruction, her impossible election as Democratic candidate, and fuel a kitchen sink strategy that hurts everyone.. and especially Americans and America
