From

(CNN) — CNN just called the Pennsylvania primary race for Hillary Clinton. How did she win?

Her clear support from white voters and women. Both groups constituted large majorities in Tuesday's primary, and both voted for Clinton handily.

Whites made up over 80 percent of Pennsylvania Democrats. Clinton bested Obama among those voters by 20 points, 60 to 40 percent.

Women also constituted a clear majority of Pennsylvania primary voters – 56 percent. They voted for Clinton by a 12-point margin, 56 to 44 percent.

Another reason Clinton won? She beat Obama easily among late-deciders. Those voters who decided in the last three days went for the New York senator by a 15-point margin, 57 percent to 42 percent.

Dan from Illinois: Barack Obama won the State of Illinois by a landslide, remember? Quit being so naive…or redneck…or whatever you are…

Stuart in L.A.   April 22nd, 2008 10:09 pm ET

The best solution now- the Dem leaders sit them both down and make them agree to a Clinton/Obama ticket. That would give us 16 years in the White House. If this craziness continues, we will get a big fat 0 years in the White House, as McCain will benefit from a split Democratic party. Please- make this happen!

Herman LA, CA   April 22nd, 2008 10:08 pm ET

she lied. That is how she won.

DON'T THESE PEOPLE KNOW WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF CLINTON GOES TO WHITE HOUSE ? BILL ALSO GOES AND WE SHOULD ALL KNOW BY NOW WHAT BILL DOES IN OUR WHITE HOUSE AND WHO NEEDS THAT ?
THESE CLINTONS ARE SICK PEOPLE

Caitlin   April 22nd, 2008 10:08 pm ET

I'm tired of the starry-eyed Obama supporters who just want to join the fad popular movement. The ability to speak in a slow, dramatic voice and repeat the word "change" a lot is not the ability to run a country.

Dan from Illinois   April 22nd, 2008 10:07 pm ET

National polls fluctuate. Gallup has Clinton up a few days ago.

WHOOO HOOOO!!!

I think its really funny people think Obama should drop out. Are you freaking kidding me? He ahead- and no a win is not a win- she got by with the skin of her teeth. People stop being so stupid. Do you know how to read? Do you know basic math??

Ben   April 22nd, 2008 10:06 pm ET

She won because Pennsylvania voters realized that she is the far more qualified candidate in the race.

Robert   April 22nd, 2008 10:06 pm ET

she won because the residents of pennsylvaina are blind to her old school politics….Most of the people who vote for her don't even have a college education…..

John Williams of San Diego, CA says:
"Amazing that ONLY 54% of Pennsylvania democrats think that Hillary is not honest and trustworthy!!! They also think that the liberty bell doesn't have a crack and they are still trying to understand what the definition of 'is' is."

HAHAHA!! Thanks for the laugh!! Let's not forget that Hillary and her supporters are liars….

Fed Up   April 22nd, 2008 10:06 pm ET

Seriously, if people think that most of the people in the "New West" are "morons" and yet celebrates Mel Brook's intelligence, that shows how ignorant the people in this country actually are. Obama supporters need to get over themselves and come to terms with the fact that Clinton may in fact be the democratic nominee. It is no use blaming it on race and gender because be honest, if those were really major factors we'd have another Kerry running. There were plenty of old white guys who were democratic hopefuls at the beginning. That said, it's insane that the democratic party has to act like a bunch of children over two candidates. It's no wonder your party is wandering.

McCain '08

Brenda   April 22nd, 2008 10:06 pm ET

I hate these cable news pundits - they are so sexist and against Hillary - whether you like her or not, she won PA and so why does she need to get out of the race - she has a tough sell to Super Delegates so what!!!??? Obama is good and we want a Democrat but why does he get to stay in when he doesn't have the 2025 that is needed either. All you Hillary Haters need to go to Hell!!!!

Connie   April 22nd, 2008 10:05 pm ET

It is so annoying to listen to the "pundits" discuss how Hillary "pulled out this victory." First of all, they are always falling all over themselves to act as if they knew how things would turn out, and so rarely give their true opinions. Secondly, they are partisans, so their opinions are suspect. Only David Gergen and Roland are neutral and give good comments. Finally, Hillary was 20 points ahead weeks ago. She's won Pennsylvania by 5-10 points, which clearly shows that Obama was able to eat into her supporters. This is not a huge victory for Clinton at all. She barely staved him off. Moreover, placing emphases on winning states is hugely irritating considering that the number of delegates won is more important for the nomination according to Democrat rules.

Phillip Bunn   April 22nd, 2008 10:04 pm ET

Through the compliments of ignorant voters.

Sharonlee   April 22nd, 2008 10:04 pm ET

Since Obama leads in the black and young voters and Clinton leads in the over 60 and women voters, does anyone know what those percentage of those voters of the entire country are? I see them on each primary but haven't seen those numbers for the entire country.

2.Obama=Lies, Lies, Lies, Not proud of his country, when faced with controversy he will change the subject to point to someone else, cannot stand up as a man to face his mistakes, always someone else

Who am I going to vote for…not number 2

Keep fighting for our country Hillary!!!!

LFY   April 22nd, 2008 10:04 pm ET

Hillary Clinton is the better choice. Barack Obama is all rhetoric and puffery. He has also proven he is not a closer!

Dan, MA   April 22nd, 2008 10:03 pm ET

I am so sick of "feminists" voting for Clinton simply because she's a woman. That doesn't make you a feminist, that makes you a sexist. Yes, I am a male who supports Obama. Not because Clinton's a woman, but because I don't agree with her policies. I honestly feel that her plans for health care and censorship will ruin America. Her plans for education make me think twice about wanting to be a teacher and make me think three times about sending my children to public schools. I wouldn't trust her with local politics, and I certainly don't trust her to be our country's president. As for those who think Obama flipped Clinton off, grow up and get a life. I saw the alleged gesture, and it's a low blow to call that as flipping the bird If anyone's flipping someone off, it's Clinton flipping off America with each voter she convinces.

EPN   April 22nd, 2008 10:03 pm ET

HOW CAN YOU SAY THAT HILLARY IS FAKE? She has been in the public eye for this long and doing just fine. To me, Obama is the fake one, trying to hide his muslim upbringing. I cannot trust this man!

John   April 22nd, 2008 10:03 pm ET

Some of you people are complete fools. Winning the "big" states of NY, CA, NJ, PA, and MI will not get you the White House. Otherwise you'd be talking to President John Kerry right now. The Dems need to appeal to more voters in the heartland and the west, which is what Obama has done with his wins in many of those states. Obama has won 28 IMPORTANT states, just like Clinton has won 15 IMPORTANT states. The population size has little to do with it, and A PRIMARY WIN IS NOT A GUARANTEE THAT YOU WIN THE STATE IN A GENERAL ELECTION! Is that too much for some of the Clinton fanatics to understand?

She will accept nothing less than the nomination - no matter the cost to the party. If the roles were reversed and she was sitting where Obama is with the delegat count and the popular vote - you can believe he would have been given NO choice but to drop out of the race looonnnggg before PA!

It amazes me that knowbody is mentioning that if Florida delegates and Michigan delegates would have counted she would be leading> Obama supporters have you thought about that????

Florida got screwed and if Obama is the nominee McCain gets my vote and many others I have talked to@!

kelly WI   April 22nd, 2008 10:02 pm ET

Obama can't win the big states now. He can't win them in the general.
He can't win the Jewish, Latino, Independants, Unions, red states. blue collar workers. What does that leave him with? Not enough cover for the general.
It's up to the supers and they will choose according to who can win the big states. Electoral votes. in general.
If money mattered why hasn't he blown her away? Maybe the voters have finally seen him for what he is….or isn't.
He won't go to the next debate. Guess he can't answer a question if he doesn't have some one next to him to tell him what to say.
He's scared to answer questions on Fox. He's a wimp.

jane   April 22nd, 2008 10:01 pm ET

Vote Clinton. We can not afford to have Obama in office…god help us all if that happens

Anthony   April 22nd, 2008 10:01 pm ET

She won because can withstand anything thrown against her, and in good grace, I might add. She won because she can get a better deal for the USA. She won because she is a breath of fresh air that does not let someone's attacking the system that allowed her to obtain a multitude of awards and recognition for her successes in health, child, and educational affairs for over 30 years. She won because she did not create unrest in the system with no solutions to fix it.

She won because there are no surprises with her - no shady history forgotten or blurred in order to maintain a false image. She won because she admits her mistakes and fights to correct them.

Vote Hillary 2008!!!

Tracy   April 22nd, 2008 10:01 pm ET

After the Mississippi primary all we heard from the media (and HRC supporters) was the number of African-Americans who voted for Obama because he was African-American–who made up the demographics that put HRC over the top tonight? The people of this country will NEVER move forward.

Jason, Texas   April 22nd, 2008 10:00 pm ET

Yeah, this makes no sense to me. Actually, I find this disconcerting and, frankly, I'm disgusted with my fellow Americans. I guess I will go back to being an Independent. Forget the two major parties because it seems that many who vote in them haven't a clue.

Dan from Illinois   April 22nd, 2008 10:00 pm ET

People are saying we can't afford another Clinton in office? Why not? My life, the life of others and the nation as a whole was great during the Clinton years. What kind of argument is that?

Better yet, I see that some Californian said here:

"Amazing that ONLY 54% of Pennsylvania democrats think that Hillary is not honest and trustworthy!!! They also think that the liberty bell doesn't have a crack and they are still trying to understand what the definition of 'is' is."

That's right! It's the elitist snob! Go figure! Pennsylvanians MUST be ignorant and naive! Well, here's a newsflash: Pennsylvania is what the rest of America looks like. If you don't like it, find another country to annoy.

Bottom line Clinton supporters. Clinton (Not Bill, in case you were wondering) could have won Pennsylvania by 70% and guess what would be the case tomorrow morning, she will still be losing. And after Indiana guess what even if she wins by 70%, she will still be losing. There is a reason he supported by educated people, we can do math. Clinton talks about the uphill battle she faces as a women. Hmmm lets see about half the country is female and 10% is African American. If she wins my wife and I will not be voting in November and that is a fact.

Paula in WI   April 22nd, 2008 9:59 pm ET

Hillary cant win 5 more states,so she can't win.Nothing to worry about.Besides the other states are already turning against her because she's dishonest. No loss here tonight because her margin will be too small.

Roger   April 22nd, 2008 9:59 pm ET

Im not sure why you cancelled my second comment but I will say again that PA has played its race card today. 64% of white men and 63% of white women voted for Hillary. Shame on you Pennsylvania.

James   April 22nd, 2008 9:59 pm ET

As a strong supporter of Barak Obama,Iam deeply frustrated the incompetency and lazyness of his so called Campain strategists starting from top to bottom.Barak is doing well not because of the so called campain strategists, but people are inspired by his message of hope. The failure of his last debate and the Pennsylvania results is a clear testimony of their lazyness and incompetency.
A dead contender won Pennsylvaniaprimary for God's sake. This should say something to you Barak.

What's wrong with Clinton? I feel like what she is trying to do for the country is very similar to Obama. Although I feel like Obama would be the better candidate, personally, I don't think Clinton is a bad one. I feel like she could help the country very much.

Also, speaking of the people who said that these are the same people who voted Bush into office.. I was wondering, who ARE these people? I mean, my family voted for Clinton because I think they believe that she is a good candidate and a good leader

TO ROLAND MARTIN AND OB FANS   April 22nd, 2008 9:58 pm ET

SHE WON BECAUSE SHE IS BRILLIANT AND HERE IS MY QUESTION TO YOU…. MOST PEOPLE IN THE DEM PARTY WILL COME BACK AND VOTE FOR HILLARY. SHE IS A STRONG CANDIDATE AND SHE OFFERS A LOT OF SOLUTIONS. IF IT IS THE OTHER WAY AROUND MOST OF HER SUPPORTERS WILL EITHER STAY HOME OR GO TOWARDS MCCAIN. LETS FACE IT THERE ARE MORE WOMEN VOTERS THAT CAN GO EITHER WAY AS FAR AS A DEM/REP GOES. THOSE STRONG WOMEN VOTERS WILL COME OUT FOR HER…IS THE DEM PARTY REALLY INTERESTED IN WINNING.

I THINK SOME (NOT ALL) BUT SOME REP WOMEN WOULD CROSS OVER AND VOTE HER IN THE GENERAL ELECTION TOO.

Theresa from Minnesota   April 22nd, 2008 9:56 pm ET

Too bad you media types are still afraid of Senator Obama. If you want negative you should take time to really listen to his condecending remarks about HIllary. You know the "Annie Oakley", "Duck Blind', "She carries a six shooter" remarks. He not only acting like he is superior to people in general , but he has a " how dare a woman run againest him?" I think Senator Obama's supporter Jamal should take a breath and remember that this should not be about race and almost every remark out of his angry mouth is the black community. Senator Clinton is winning because she actually has some answers for the voters. Her ads and her speeches are not negative, unless saying the truth is negative. Of course I am Just a rural midwestern highly intelligent, mildly educated senior citizen. What do I know?

For Pete's sake stop removing this post! Why won't you let people look this up on their own… It's all just a crazy gut posting things (until it's not- i.e. after it's too late). Let people make up their own minds and stop censoring plain old information that people can confirm on their own… Yes We Can = 666. Please look it up, seriously. This is very strange and worrisome…

Umpire   April 22nd, 2008 9:55 pm ET

I'm puzzled by women who support Clinton and say that they will never vote for Obama if he wins the Democratic nomination: can they remember two words–"Supreme Court"? Give John McCain two appointments to the court and we'll have two more Scalias, leading to a reversal of Roe v. Wade and other progressive decisions that have benefited women. How about two more words: "Civil Liberties"? Should we let the Republicans destroy what remains of balance-of-power? Should we agree that we are free to say what the government wants us to say–and only to people it approves of? Do freedom of speech, of the press, etc. even matter to the women who would rather see McCain than Obama in the White House?

Hillary Clinton didn't win CRAP!!!!

I don't know why CNN didn't report on this earlier. As early as 8am this morning, there were reports on the radio about several voting machines having problems and some polls even being closed in "urban" areas. This was not hearsy, this was confirmed.

There were even several unconfirmed complaints about intimidation pratices (similar to what the Republicans did during Kerry's run) towards Obama reporters.

It's the same old Washington Politics, and no website or news outlet even wants to acknowledge the issues. 2 Months prep time, and you mean to tell me polls wern't functioning?????

What is so frustrating is that Clinton supporters keep calling themselves "real" democrats. They call Obama supporters idiots.

So, your strategy is to disparage the supporters of the opposing campaign?

Just because you call me stupid doesn't make it so, no matter how many times you cut and paste it into the comments page

And if she can overturn numbers by appealing to racial prejudice and lying than America has bigger problems than we thought. Even though I support Obama, I recognize the people have a right to vote for who they support. But just because she want it sooooo bad, Mrs Clinton should not be allowd to try and find ways to justify changing the rules. Who ever wins the most DELAGATES/POPULAR VOTE should be the nominee.

I love how a candidate who was leading six weeks ago in a poll by 15 or more points wins by half that - and no mention is made of the fact she must have LOST support.

Of course, I shouldn't be surprised. Bill Clinton blew a ten-point lead in New Hampshire in 1992 and lost by seven, and the media called him 'the Comeback Kid.'

I'm guessing they're on the take again.

Mary   April 22nd, 2008 9:51 pm ET

I am so tired of everyone saying how big PA is as a victory. My family is from PA and it is one of the most racist states in this union! so the fact that a black man cannot win there is not a surprise….what is a surprise is that he came from almost 20 points back to get close…noone is talking about this…they are so busy falling over themselves to pat Hilary on the back they have forgotten that this is just one state and that Obama is still in the lead in all the statistics that matter. If Obama loses this nomination to super delegates…I will not only blame the Clinton campaign…I will blame the obviously biased Clinton supporting media…they really have failed at their job…I will abstain in November and Mccain will take the White House…Congrats Hill and Bill you have destroyed whatever chance we had to take back the White House because your egos could not accept defeat.

she won because she's conniving, devious, unscrupulous, vindictive and the queen of double standards. she won inspite of the fact that Bill C is doing everything in his power to make her lose while trying to make it seem like he's supporting her. he doesn't want her to be president in the same way the majority of the democrats who already voted don't want her to be president. this country doesn't need a 'fighter' they need someone that can work well with all people and not be divisive and polarizing. nothing will get done with her as the president. the republicans cannot stand the Clintons. they will not work with her at all. it would be so nice if she would consider what she's doing to the democratic party and fade away to spend her millions in retirement. as an independent…it really doesn't bother me if they self destruct., however, i was looking forward to a breath of fresh air and change in the status quo.

For everyone saying that it spells trouble for Obama that he didn't win big states - he has won big states and will continue to do so - Illinois, Georgia, Virginia, Missouri, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and North Carolina (upcoming).

I know Clinton and her advisors like to cherry-pick which big states matter. Clinton has won many of the traditional democratic states like NJ, NY, CA, and MA that will vote Democratic in the Fall no matter which candidate is on the ticket.

I find it more appealing that Obama has managed to win over support in states that have been traditional Republican strong holds like Colorado, Idaho, Nebraska, Wyoming, Missouri and the Dakotas in additional to the deep South.

We are going to need a Democratic candidate in the fall to break into Republican territory - that's how the Democrats will take back the white house.

r coyne   April 22nd, 2008 9:50 pm ET

I'm a registered Independent and have been since I was 18. Apparently Rush Limbaugh and His Campaign of Chaos isn't regestering with the best Nes Team Ever? 170,000 Republicians registered as Democrates, I don't believe to vote for Obama. I'm curioous why this isn't being discussed? Can someone please explain tonight on the neews cast as I'm sure I'm not the only one thinking about this. I hope you are credable enough to discuss this. Thank you

Kim   April 22nd, 2008 9:50 pm ET

Do not buy the Hype. The Hillary monster won PA. because she is from there, Period! Just like Romney won Michigan. It means NOTHING! Do not let Hillary or her media pawns turn this into something important .

Alan   April 22nd, 2008 9:49 pm ET

Here's a thought I haven't heard expressed before: Why the apparent disconnect between Obama raising way more in the way of campaign contributions, which is people voting with their money, and Hillary winning in states like Ohio and Texas, and now maybe Pennsylvania?

Here's my answer: There's a huge number of Republican crossovers in those states that account for a large part of the newly registered Democrats who see Hillary as the weaker of the two Democratic candidates and vote for her in the primary, but certainly will not contribute financially to her campaign.

Obama has a good chance of beating McCain. Hillary will lose big, as many Democrats will not be able to hold their noses and vote for her if Obama wins the nomination. They will either not vote at all or vote for McCain, which in either case will give the election to McCain.

zina   April 22nd, 2008 9:48 pm ET

How can you ask Obama to drop out if he leads with SWING STATES won, overall states won, and popular vote?

Congrats, Hillary supporters, but please remember that Obama is in the LEAD

O8ama

Maurice   April 22nd, 2008 9:48 pm ET

PA does count. It just that the other 44 states that went before it count just ask much. PA is only 138 delegates to be split up. The gap between Obama and HIllary in pledged delegates is literally half the size of California. To say it another way, there are roughly, 3250 total pledged delegates. At 1626, Obama would clinch the pledge delegate lead and the supers would have to overturn him. He has 1,437 which only about 189 short. He'll get at least 1/3 of the way there tonight. By the time he gets through Indiana and North Carolina, he'll have it.

mack   April 22nd, 2008 9:48 pm ET

Clinton won , because she knows what she is doing. The most brightest candidate for the economy, health care and foreign policy.

Of Course the media is spoon feeding obama for now and they will show who he is in the fall. It is a for gone conclusion if he won the primary we all democrats will lose the white house.

But Hillary can stand toe to toe with Maccain with her bright mind and eloquont speech.

BILLARY does it again!

Here's to Obama losing by less than 10 points~

OBAMA '08.

roknroll   April 22nd, 2008 9:48 pm ET

Her best strategy now would be to have television ads featuring voters from earlier primary elections who had voted for Obama and now say that they would not have voted for him if they knew what they now know about him. This strategy woud work with the coming primaries and perhaps also with the Superdelegates.

Glenn   April 22nd, 2008 9:48 pm ET

She won because she is the better person. Period

Peter S., Georgia   April 22nd, 2008 9:47 pm ET

Now that CNN has finally called the primary, I see the both the whining and the excuses by Team Obama have begun.

Hillary '08

Lynn J   April 22nd, 2008 9:47 pm ET

PA has reported record amounts of voter problems (machines not working, etc). Guess what, these problems are mostly in black and lower income areas (that aren't white). One of the biggest primaries and the voting machines don't work. Not at all surprising. I am an educated Balck female; I was once a Hillary supporter. But after seeing her negativity, her racial dividing of Blacks and Latinos, her lies/ embellishments, her arrogance in believing that she should be made president because her husband was president, literally disgusts me. Of course she will win PA. It is a predominately white state that is known for his prejuidice and racism. Voters voted for her because she is white and/or she is a woman. I voted on policy; these people voted on comfort levels and racial identification. Hillary may manipulate a Democratic nomination and possibly the presidency; but she has lost supporters (white and minority) by her constant playing of the race card. This is not a democracy; Lets officially make this country a monarchy and only vote in the Bush's, Clinton's, and thier friends and family. Chelsea '16 (or a Bush); doesn't really matter.

H0LLY   April 22nd, 2008 9:47 pm ET

SHE WON BECAUSE THE PEOPLE OF PENN ARE OLD AND SHE HAD A FEW BEER WITH THE GOOD OLD BOYS .a GREAT MESSAGE SENT TO THE YOUNG PEOPLE WHOM WE TELL DON'T DRINK.I WILL NOT VOTE FOR HRC.I VOTED FOR HER HUSBAND .WHY DOES HE WANT TO GET BACK IN THE WHITE HOUSE SO BAD?NOT ON MY VOTE .

"Yes lisa its much easier to vote against someone whose campaign is based on hope…that makes a lot of sense. This isn't a place for cliches, ecspecially ones that dont fit the situation"

Quick! Which president ran on "hope" and had the theme song, "Don't stop thinking about tomorrow" by Fleetwood Mac?

M.S. Indiana   April 22nd, 2008 9:47 pm ET

winning is easy, you lie and put fear into the hearts of white people..
And then you look at the republicans to change party for the week..
Then a few more Bush adds and the you have a home run..

r   April 22nd, 2008 9:46 pm ET

I live in Ohio and wish our primary could be done over again. I am sure Barack Obama would win significantly today. What a great comeback for the outstanding next President to be so close to defeating the dual presidency of Bill and Hillary - another two weeks and PA would have been Obama's too! The next primary states will show not only his tremendous popularity as they vote for him, but will show America a vision and bright future younger Americans want and enlightened older Americans dreamed off and are awakening to in the post Clinton/Bush era. A re-newed dream of an America that cares about its people and the world we live under Barack's administration.

NickSanDiego   April 22nd, 2008 9:46 pm ET

Hey People she won because she knows these people better than we do. WE thought all of her Lies and cheating and trechery against her own party would hurt her and it didn't make sense for them , the SAME people who her husband took their jobs and is STILL working on it woud hurt her.

She does what she does because she KNOWS…A Black will never get ahead in this country as long as ANY white person is going for the same job.

This won't get posted but I had to tell at least the Moderator.

It will now get WORSE as she has been rewarded for it.

If Obama wins the Democratic Nomination, I , as a 36 year old white female, will vote against him - out of my own party - for McCain. I've been a registered Democrat for 18 years…I am happy that Hillary won. You Obama supporters are sore losers. Hillary supporters do not attack Obama personally when he won. Shame on you - the former First Lady does deserve respect and the fact that Obama flipped her off the other day doesn't show the level of maturity that it takes for him to lead our country.

Hillary won because Obama said in 2004 that he was not qualified to be President of the United States. Some of us took him at his word.

Typodi   April 22nd, 2008 9:45 pm ET

Interesting question. Especially when the PA voters state through exit polls that Obama is more honest, they believe Obama will win the nomination and 67% believe that Hillary was unfair to Obama. Gee, I wonder if they voted about their guns and religion. I'm feeling bitter.

john williams san diego, ca.   April 22nd, 2008 9:45 pm ET

Amazing that ONLY 54% of Pennsylvania democrats think that Hillary is not honest and trustworthy!!! They also think that the liberty bell doesn't have a crack and they are still trying to understand what the definition of 'is' is.

David   April 22nd, 2008 9:45 pm ET

This is why I can't stand this woman. The media build her up as some comeback kid, and it continues to divide the Democrats. The longer HRC's in the race, the harder it is going to be for Democrats to take back the white house. Based on PA's gullibility (along with the rest of America), it really wouldn't surprise me come November if McCain wins. Why would Americans ever vote for REAL change? These are the same people who voted for Bush in '04 despite his 30% approval rating.

What this country needs is less people complaining and more people going to the booths.

D.J. Morales   April 22nd, 2008 9:44 pm ET

Whether or not Hillary Clinton would be a good president is really unimportant compared to the possibility that the Clintons would once again occupy and desecrate the most important house in the land. I still have faith that the American people remember the lies and mendacity of this family.

Mudd…the problem here is that we are dealing with a racial swing through the media, in isolated towns, and the fact that no one wants to really say what is on their minds like, "a black man in the white house?" They'd rather have a "white woman in the white house?"

Barack Obama is the truth and should be given the chance that he deserves and he has won in this election. It's amazing how the new media makes or breaks candidates?

I experienced voter irregularities in Philadelphia that everyone wants to sweep under the rug. The problem is race!

ascencioncastaneda   April 22nd, 2008 9:44 pm ET

It is no surprise that media is not at all hyped at all about Hillary winning. The fact that she gets outspent 3.5 to 1 and she still lays a whupping on Obama and she gets no credit. She is a fighter, she does not give up and I want her to lead the USA back from Hell.
Shame on media for not takin up one hell of a lady. I will contribute one more time tonite. A. Castaneda

She won the rush linbaugh vote (republicans in donkey suits.)too.
McCain would rather run against her.
First the blacks would feel dis infranchised. Some Democrats hate her and Pelosi enough to split the democrat vote.
I hope and pray the people remember the last 8 years of rape and plunder shock and awe.

Me, Im not one of the "bitter" (which is really code for racist white trailer trash) but Im MAD AS HELLLLL!!!! of the status quo. It is a sad day when people admit she is dishonest and still chose her. If you didn't know this is COMPLETELY about Race then you are as delusional as she is.

Roy   April 22nd, 2008 9:43 pm ET

With the world banking system on the verge of collapse, CNN, ABC, FOX and virtually all the mainstream news media and all the candidates haven't even mentioned the true depth of the crisis let alone suggest how they would work to prevent the entire cost from being dumped on the taxpayers while speculated and huge lender get trillions in bail outs.

Anonymous   April 22nd, 2008 9:43 pm ET

CNN brought up the argument of age, keying in on the 65+ voters versus 18-29. This argument is completely irrelevant, given that those 65 or older lived in an era of racism and hatred of black people and people don't change.
CNN should review this argument and understand that yes there are more voters that are 65+, but age is not the mitigating factor, more or less the argument will always be race in Pennsylvania. That is the reason Obama lost.

Jack Robertson   April 22nd, 2008 9:42 pm ET

The results nor the analysis of "why" she won should come as no surprise to anyone. Governor Randel clearly stated in Feburary that the majority of the electorate in PA would not support a non-white candidate….period. So is this proof that Obama can not win the general election? Of course not…the results of primaries in other states not stuck in some early 1900s time warp proves that the national majority form their opinion based on merit and other qualities that have nothing to do with the "race" or gender of the candidate.

Pennsylvania was all about race so if Hillary gets the nod then I'm afraid that her tactics and her abuse of O'bama will either sway black voters to vote for Mccain or to not vote at all. Another big state win for Hillary. You people have to realize many of Obama's votes came from cross over republicans who are allowed to vote in democratic primaries and those votes will not return to Obama if he is the nominee. For all you out there who did not take stock in Obama's "bitter" remarks this is a firm reminder what words can do to you no matter what you meant. Obama was closing in on Hillary in PA and his own mouth stopped him from gaining more ground against hillary and winning the state. Obama did not even stay in the state to see the results. What does that say about him? He is a jellyfish.

1. Home state

4. "Black" Mayor of the lagest city
5. 22% + lead
To me a less than substancial lead is nothing to brag about. As for one I would vote for Bush before I would vote for a power monger with no scruples.

Barry should have spent $20 million (and still have 20 left) or better still he should have saved all his money cause he has already won the nomination and PA means absolutely nothing (or does it?)

Good News ahead - North Carolina has 60% of all the Democrats that are of the same pursuation as half of Barry and we know that he'll win 90% of that vote.

Indiana will be a better gauge for who the nominee will be (maybe?)

In the general election the Republican version of swift boaters will make sure that Barry comes across different than what his cult thinks of him now.

K   April 22nd, 2008 9:39 pm ET

She won because it's about the issues now instead of Obama's rock star style persona. People care about the experience to get our economy out of the Bush gutter. Obama doesn't have a clue. Congratulations to Senator Clinton…..well done !

Chris   April 22nd, 2008 9:36 pm ET

The Media has it all wrong regarding which candidate has won more states or the biggest states. First, you have to realize that this is the DEMOCRATIC PRIMARY. THIS IS NOT THE PRESIDENTIAL RACE. Both of these candidates (Obama/Hilary) are great candidates. People are having a difficult time deciding who will represent them because they are great candidates. Either one of these candidates will Beat John MCCAIN. The media is treating this race as the presidential race, but it is not. That is why it does not matter if Hilary won all the big states and Obama is ahead on superdelegates because in the presidential race, this will not matter. They will start all over and Hilary/Obama are going to have to win the big states and small states. The people that are voting for Hilary/Obama are democrats, and the democrats are still going to vote for them, but the question is will they be able to convince the Republicans to vote for them in these states. The ultimate decision on who will be our democratic nominee will be up to the SuperDelegates and they need to step up to the plate and decide, because this primary may go until June without any decision. Unfortunately we cannot have two winners and somebody is going to make the decision of which of these two candidates will be our Democratic Presidential Nominee. I am hoping that Obama is the candidate of choice.

Thanks

She won because she played fear and intimidation against these people. She's a fruitcake. Let's just wait and see how she loses in NC. You Hillbots who actually think she has a stab at the nomination are looney.

Maurice   April 22nd, 2008 9:36 pm ET

If this holds, she'll only get 10-20 delegates…and maybe 50K popular vote gain. Even if you counted michigan and florida. She would still be losing handily (since Obama had a 160 and 700K lead). obama (who leads the polls in NC by 15) will reverse all of that in North Carolina and Hillary will be even more hopelessly behind. What we have to realize here is…. Hillary can win if the superdates overturn both the pledge delegate and the popular vote. That would be the easy way to lose the general election….

I am so sadden that PA allowed Hillary to win their state. All the Clintons have done is lie, just like Bill lied about his comments on race, he is just like his wife. I still believe Obama can win in NOV, he will have my vote.

Bren   April 22nd, 2008 9:36 pm ET

PS … She will STILL lose.

PSS .. If for some reason she pulls a back-door superdelegate win out of her … ample derriere, (as if "disinfranchised voters really count) I absolutely will vote for McCain before I vote for this corrupted woman. For those who care… I am a 45 year old white female.

Rick from Bowie   April 22nd, 2008 9:36 pm ET

White this, black that! Why does the media want this campaign to be about race! The dumbing of America continues….

Steve   April 22nd, 2008 9:36 pm ET

CNN the best political team or network otherwise known as the Obama network has projected (and is the last network or news agency) Hillary Clinton the winner of the Penn. primary. They are now trying to make excuses again as to why this happened. They all have frowns on their faces. Tune in for their biased upsetting comments.

This win by Clinton with key demographics spells trouble for Obama if he is the nominee. He is not drawing among key Democratic constituencies, including older voters, white women, blue collar voters and Catholics. How he gains back these groups in the fall is unclear.

Obama could not buy a win, his deadbeat donations did not work.
HILLARY 08

Hillary won because its easy for people to believe lies thsn the truth!

Yes lisa its much easier to vote against someone whose campaign is based on hope…that makes a lot of sense. This isn't a place for cliches, ecspecially ones that dont fit the situation. She won becuase in a closed primary (a much fairer method of balloting than the caucus) more people voted for her. simple as that.

How did Clinton win?

She won by using fear, kitchen-sink tactics, and misconstruing her opponents words. The media also has a role to play in this by picking sound bites and playing them to death rather than focusing on real issues.

Corey, Maryland   April 22nd, 2008 9:35 pm ET

Because she is a liar and a dissever and the people in Pennsylvania are uneducated retards and that is Clinton's base constituency. It has been shown that she can't win, yet she is still running because she is stubborn and cant face the fact that there is someone better than her.

Obama Richardson 08!!!!

Darryl   April 22nd, 2008 9:35 pm ET

OMG, look at all these Obama supporter whining. OMG she is liar thats why she won. OMG she is cheated BLAH BLAH BLAH! Give me a break. How many times will you blame her for everything?

Ken in Western NY   April 22nd, 2008 9:34 pm ET

I am truly amazed with the Pennsylvania voters. The polls stated that 67% of you did not trust Hillary, or found her dishonest. Yet the majority of you still voted for her. I guess you must really like what the past 8 years have brought us.

Oh - and just so you know, she promised alot of things to Western New York when running for the Senate seat in 2000, and guess what? She hasn't delivered on any of her promises either.

So I guess you are as gullible as the New York voters - but not this one. I never voted for her, and I certainly never will.

Go Hillary!
Show Obama he can't just walk all the way to the nomination.
