(CNN) — Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama are both holding strong among the most reliable members of their base.

Obama is winning 92 percent of black voters, among his highest margin to date in that demographic. Meanwhile, Clinton is winning among voters 65 and over by a 23 point margin, 61 to 38 percent.

Both candidates have held on to their base, a sign the trench warfare of the last four months could continue.

Meet us in North Carolina and Indiana

Ray, Venice, CA   April 22nd, 2008 7:30 pm ET

Why must CNN continue to report the "Black Vote"….why does this matter? To me it's as pointless as saying 95% of the voters with green eys support Hillary….

Paul   April 22nd, 2008 7:02 pm ET

Here is what is going on. Some Republicans are voting for Obama so Hillary can't win, because McCain will have a harder time beating Clinton. These same voters will then vote for McCain in November.

so be smart and choose Hillary!!!

Kona   April 22nd, 2008 6:32 pm ET

Correction: B. Clinton over Keyes '96.

Kona   April 22nd, 2008 6:31 pm ET

Interesting how in just about every previous election when blacks support white candidates over black black candidates (Kerry over Sharpton '04, Kerry over Mosely Braun '04, Gore over Keyes '00, B. Clinton over Keyes '00) no whites will criticize blacks. Then along comes Obama (black and white) and blacks support him and people (like Thomas, above) call blacks racist.

Interesting indeed…

Carrie Pa   April 22nd, 2008 6:29 pm ET

Thank You to the 38% of the elderly that voted for Obama!

Joseph J.   April 22nd, 2008 6:18 pm ET

Listen!!!!

If we as democrats let the Clinton go up against McCain we will lost the white house.

I don't think she can beat this guy. He will low her away and everybody knows it.

Don't let this guy go up against Clinton you will be sorry!
just hand him the keys to the white house.

But Obama will destroy McCain, Obama is just to smart for this guy.

OBAMA is the only one that's really connected to the people.

GO OBAMA #1 FOR PRES. 09′

Mr. C   April 22nd, 2008 6:13 pm ET

Jane   April 22nd, 2008 6:10 pm ET

You're a fruit. Hillary has outsourced tens of thousands of precious US jobs to India (which she personally got kickbacks from for her campaign), China, and Mexico. Wake up! She's evil!

Let OBAMA be the Winner PA. Send the Liar Clintons home.

DJ in TX   April 22nd, 2008 6:04 pm ET

CNN - this is really not news. Most people had no doubt that each of them would hold on to their base. It is the undecided that they were gunning for.

Brett   April 22nd, 2008 6:04 pm ET

They need to settle this by way of dance-off. It's the only reliable way left to determine the winner! Someone needs to get served!
