(CNN) – Hillary Clinton’s campaign has increased its efforts to pressure Barack Obama to agree to more debates.

On Wednesday, they sent reporters a press release titled “Debate Watch: Day 1,” as part of their continuing effort to focus attention on Obama’s reluctance to schedule more primary season showdowns.

During a rally in Hillsborough, North Carolina Wednesday afternoon, former President Bill Clinton, standing on the back of a pick-up truck, told voters: “I think I know the answer to why one candidate wants to debate, ‘cuz I saw the debate in Pennsylvania. And afterwards, 41 percent of the voters saw it. And by 55 to 22, they said Hillary won.”

Earlier this week, a proposed North Carolina debate was cancelled after Obama’s team said the Illinois senator would not be able to find time in his schedule.

“It's not clear that another debate is going to be the best use of our time,” Obama told CNN’s Roland Martin Wednesday.

The Obama campaign says that the candidates have met in more than 20 primary season debates. But the Clinton camp counters that only four of those meetings have been one-on-one.

“Hoosiers are going to be disappointed if [the debate] doesn’t happen,” said Sen. Evan Bayh, a Clinton supporter. Clinton herself told an Indiana crowd that "some people" think the voters are tired of debates but she disagrees.

Hillary Clinton was widely viewed as having a stronger performance at last week’s debate than Obama, which her campaign said contributed to her success with late-deciding voters.

Both North Carolina and Indiana vote May 6.

I'm SICK of the debates....it's my responsibility as a Voter to find out what I can about my Candidates. And If I don't know what their aobut by now...another debate won't make a difference.

Hillary only wants to get Barack in a debate so she can harp on the same old crap she's been whining about. She doesn't care about the issues, she cares about herself and extending the Clinton legacy with another presidency. Selfish, conceited and deceitful..I Don't Trust her at all.

Obama.....PLEASE Please spend your time meeting the people in the upcoming States and focus your attention on snatching her base.

More debates would be pointless. Obama should show some backbone and just say "NO".

kim portland, oregon   April 23rd, 2008 7:52 pm ET

oh give me a break, hillary. you will use ANYTHING to put a bad spin on barack, but THIS is beyond pathetic! you guys have already had PLENTY of debates, and besides if your buddy george moderates anymore of them your guys will NEVER discuss the important issues...ohhhh, i get it now!!!

quit playing whatever game you are playing hilary. you're making all the crazy conspiracy stories about you and running 2012, or connections to the repubs, etc look more and more sane every day!!!

KNOCK IT OFF, and quit acting like the ugly republicans/mark penn/karl rove... you are disgracing the already-shaky democratic party. you make it WEAKER when it is vitally important that it is as strong as it possibly can be so we dont have another 4 years of bush/mccain!!!!!!!!!!

Jordan, NM   April 23rd, 2008 7:51 pm ET

Dear J. McKinney,

Fear mongering is when you post pictures of the worst disasters in a century, and say that your candidate and only your candidate will protect us. It’s the same as when as she protected Chelsea in Bosnia from the "fake" sniper fire. Hillary is playing the American people like a fake fiddle–and they are drinking it up.

The Obama campaign has been smarter, and not let the Clintons dictate their campaign. He is still ahead and on his way to win the nomination, and that is a good thing.

Funny how Obama can challenge Hillary to the debate then bash her for not accepting right away then backs out when Hillary agrees

Obamican   April 23rd, 2008 7:51 pm ET

It's a trick Obama. Please don't fall for it. No more debates with Hillary. Make her campaign pay for ads if she wants the advertisements. Don't give her any free airtime to keep drumming up the same issues against you that have been beaten to death. But If you feel you must debate with her, it's time to get down and dirty and start hitting her with some of the issues you've been trying to avoid hitting her with, because of the gentleman you are. The gloves are off. Since she's so good at giving it, let's see how she does taking it. Media do your jobs and start reporting about the upcoming Paul vs Clinton trial Clinton library donation contributors, 2007 tax returns, etc., etc. please. I know you've got plenty, so get it out there. You can bet the Clintons have moved on from the kitchen sink and will be throwing toilet water within the next two weeks.

Tell Clinton to go fly a kite this is what Cheryl said in this comment section she must be one of the educated Obama voters.

Obama 08 & 12   April 23rd, 2008 7:51 pm ET

I would actually rather see a debate between the everyday supporters of the two candidates – the debates on these threads are more interesting than anything on tv. Maybe then we'd learn something new.

Let's face it, at this point neither Clinton nor Obama will say anything we haven't already heard.

Meanwhile, Clinton is doing her usual cheap-shot-copied-from-the-Republican-playbook bit. If she can't win, she'll at least have the satisfaction of tearing down the Democratic Party.

Win or lose, Clinton is the gift that keeps on giving for the Republican Party – thanks to her they have no need to run attack ads, they save money and at the same time get high poll ratings for taking the high road.

Now there's some political genius and principled leadership.

richard   April 23rd, 2008 7:49 pm ET

If they allow a teleprompter and 10 minutes for him to research his answer he will debate.

rich   April 23rd, 2008 7:49 pm ET

I would like someone to tell me if he has won the debates, then why has he LOST every single large state. Also if he wins the debates then just have one more, How did he win anything when the only tyhing he ever says is change and unite, no REAL answers by the way. He did give a few when he said I agree with Sen Clinton.

I would also like to hear why we are voting for the next big fad, he has no experience and no idea how to help or change anything, but yes lets put him in charge of the world, maybe we can just wish things will change and it will happen, oh wait this is the real world not fantasy land.

Delegate Count   April 23rd, 2008 7:48 pm ET

If people don't understand their views after all of these debates, that's their own fault, I think, and the quality of the last debate was so poor, I want my 2 hours of my life back. All of the analysis about Catholics, women, Obama supporters voting for Clinton and vice versa is driving me a little nuts today:I am a Catholic woman who is a racial minority who supports Obama, and I WILL NOT vote for Hillary in the General Election if she steals this nomination, nor will I support the Dems again ever.

politicsIsdirty   April 23rd, 2008 7:48 pm ET

Don't do it Sen Obama. They will only discuss the controversies surrounding you and you might stumble again.

Play it safe. Just be contented with making beautiful speeches. It works anyway.

Indiana Univ.   April 23rd, 2008 7:47 pm ET

Hillary kicked Obama's tail in the debate and PA. Looks like Obama's train is running out of steam. LOL!!

Marie in California   April 23rd, 2008 7:47 pm ET

I think Obama is too chicken-hearted to debate Hillary again. He only does things that are "safe" and now he's gun-shy because he feels ABC beat up on him in the last debate. Poor baby....upset because they asked quesruons that directly relate to character and judgment.

I also know Obama won't debate on Fox News Channel, even though they've invited him. Heck, he won't even appear on their channel.....too scared to face their questions.

Well, I've noticed Hillary always comes back for more debates, even after getting beat up by the mainstream media during the preceding 20 debates as they tried to pimp Obama, their Chosen One.

Give me a break!

Hillary of McCain – 2008

Janice, CT   April 23rd, 2008 7:45 pm ET

Absolutely, because they know he doesn't need another debate. Why don't they start the Clinton lie watch, that will take all of one day.

Don't take the bate Barack, you are bigger than that.

Obama 08

Carl   April 23rd, 2008 7:45 pm ET

Well its all very well saying theyve had 21 debates but theyve only had 4 between the two of them. I think debates are good for undecided voters and I know a lot of people like to see these candidates together, there where 20,000 dissapointed people from North Carolina who wanted tickets but Obama said no to it. Its the only time when both candidates can be together comparing policies, some people dont want to have to watch and attend rallies or speeches of each candidate, if Obama says hes had too many debates surely he shouldnt do any more speeches or rallies because hes had enough of them as well.
This is just a guy who knows more contraversies are gonna come out about him and they will then be asked at the debate. Your running for president you cant pick and choose what you want to do, if your invited to do something when your President you cant pick and choose.

Bil Jergens   April 23rd, 2008 7:45 pm ET

Obama knows that he doesn't work well when asked off the cuff questions on gaffes or policy. In the PA debate, he was asked gaffe questions which he didn't do well with. He was asked policy questions in terms of taxes and gun regulation and he botched those too. He knows that if he has to answer questions off the top of his head without prepared remarks, he looks weak, inexperienced when standing next to Hillary and it makes him look bad. That's why he won't debate. There has been 21 and those weren't broadcast nationally. THey were only seen on local and statewide television. Only 4 of the debates were between Obama and Hillary. I think it is important for voters to get as much information by seeing how they do when compared next to each other.

Wandy Molars   April 23rd, 2008 7:45 pm ET

DGH- No, she is an expert liar, a fabricator, and the lowest form of human being. For anyone to use p/11 to get votes, that person must be a heartless fruitcake.
I cannot believe that I use to defend this woman. I stoodup for her when my co-workers called her names like crook, lesbian, etc. Now I see what they saw. She has no integrity. To get votes there is no limit to how low she is willing to go. It is all about Hillary. She is a sick woman. The woman is a low life. And I am sure what to make of her husband anymore. May be she should win the presidency and bring her own Monica into the oval office. This time it won't be cigar it will be beer.

Only God will save America from Hillary, Bill Clinton, and the Bushes.

mike   April 23rd, 2008 7:45 pm ET

Well,

I guess we could have all seen this coming. it really did look like Americans were going to show real courage for a while and send a message to the old school politicians.

now we get to listen to more sleazy jabs from an ex president, more mudslinging from Hillary,

AND we haven't even gotten to the part where after being behind in the popular vote and pledged delegates she sues for the nomination by trying to change the rules on Florida and Michigan. She knew she was going to use it ... why else would she campaign there?
You can either fight her with everything you got Obama, or just walk away now.

If you can beat this lady, McCain would be a walk in the park for you in November, Otherwise, get settled for a dysfunctional payola fest in the white house for the next 4 years.

vl   April 23rd, 2008 7:44 pm ET

CNN, I see your bias continues, 40-50 anti-Clinton comments to 1 postive remark. How is this fair? Oh, I'm not voting for either of them!!!

Tubby The Tuba   April 23rd, 2008 7:44 pm ET

The Clinton campaign will try to coerce Obama into another debate by calling him all sorts of names. Obama is leading or on level he doesn't need a debate, only when you are behind do you need a debate. After being sandbagged by Charlie Gibson and her old political buddy Geroge why would he want to do it. The other debates were fair to both candidates but the last was lopsided against Obama. That is unfair and Charlie Gibson and George lost a lot of believers in them when they set Obama. So....no more debates needed.

Isaac   April 23rd, 2008 7:44 pm ET

She is a better debater plain and simple. She is better at policy, more heartfelt, more intelligent with a more thorough grasp of the complex issues that will face a preside. That is what he doesn't want the public to finally take notice of. He says he doesn't want any more debates but wouldn't more face to face debates about the issues (yes the issues next time would be better) make sense seeing as how the two candidates are locked in a very tough and very close battle?? A little more compare and contrast should highlight the reasons they are asking for our support.

Indiana Voter   April 23rd, 2008 7:44 pm ET

Personally, i think more debates are a waste of time. Nothing new is covered. I enjoyed meeting him in person and listening to his plans. Moreover, you get an opportunity to ask the questions that are on your mind.

Virtualscouser   April 23rd, 2008 7:43 pm ET

I love all these Hillary supporters whining away, I have NEVER seen more mud slinging in the same PARTY! It's foul, and the debates are rubbish.(all of them) How LONG in the last debate did it take them to bring up a REAL ISSUE? Gas is over $4 a gallon, food prices are up, people are being thrown out of their houses and now all she wants to focus on is how long Barack refuses to debate (translation: Debate = Let Hillary waste 3 hours launching personal attacks) her ?! She's a liar and an opportunist whose only "Experience" is in digging up dirt and thowing it.

As far as the commentors who have stated that Barack reads his scripted responses to Hillary's "scripted" attacks...If she could stop beating a dead horse with the same attacks he wouldn't have to keep repeating himself. At least he gives consistant answers that answer attacks rather than "oh, it happened so many years ago I forgot what really happened." PLEASE, like if ANY of us came under sniper fire we would FORGET!?!

Stick to the issues people or we go down in flames.

Tim   April 23rd, 2008 7:43 pm ET

Pathetic attempt to stay in the news and relevant b/c she can't afford to pay her bills...10 million isn't going to cut it as far as what she owes and what she will need to continue to be competitive.

You can add delusional to her self-absorbed, megolomanic title. She can't win. If she does, Dems lose the White House b/c you will have lost the youth vote and the black vote, and lost them for a generation.

Heck, if Hillary wins, I don't even want to live in the U.S. She is horrible.

Robert   April 23rd, 2008 7:43 pm ET

The Clintons had their chance from 1993-2000 and failed to do anything about capturing the terrorists responsible for attacks on America (September 11, 2001). It's ironic that Senator Clinton posts an ad with a picture of of Osama to lead us to believe she can protect us. Based on the 9-11 Commision and other reports, President Clinton was in office when most of the plans were developed to attack America, and they did nothing about it. President Clinton had all the resources he needed to prevent the attack, but he and his wife were too busy defending themselves and trying to build a legacy for themselves. I am sure they will blame President Bush for allowing the attack, but I disagree. Clinton had a chance to prevent the problem, but failed. Why should they be given a second chance?

John Smith   April 23rd, 2008 7:42 pm ET

Most people want the candidates and supporters to keep "fighting." Most people feel this is great for the party and the nation.

Well, let us wait– "monkey see, monkey do." In months to come, the Dems and Republicans in the House and Senate will be "figting" and I will like to listen to those who say that they should STOP and focus on issues of interest to this nation. Why should they? You have told them to go to Washington and "fight, not get together to resolve issues." So, as instructed by Hillary– keep fighting warriors! All you need is go out and pay $4/gallon for gas at the pump; they will still be fighting!!! God bless us all.

Linda   April 23rd, 2008 7:40 pm ET

We don't need yet another debate to know Senator Obama is ready to be our president. If Hillary was viewed as having a stronger performance than Obama it's because the debate was a one-sided love affair with George Stephanopoulous. She got the chance to answer questions that had some substance to them. Obama had to answer questions he had all ready answered, with efficiency two dozen times. If the debates are not going to be equally fair, Senator Obama needs to say NO DEAL !

We are part of "Chicagoland."Indianapolis doesn't pay attention to us, except when it comes to collecting our taxes. This is the first time I can recall in my 60 years on earth, a Senator actually came to our area many times. He is campaigning for the opponent. As a former Hoosier, for 52 years, this is what I am hearing from my family and friends who live on the border of Chicago.I am listening, Senator Obama. Are you listening, Obama campaign?

Barack and Hillary have only had 3 debates manno a manno. The rest was with Barack hiding behind other candidates.

Just read some of the above comments and part of the people with the Obamaism disease say BHO won all the previous debates and part of the infected Obamaism people say the debates were fixed. So what is it? Did he win? Or was it fixed so Hillary won? Know wonder you people are for BHO you are just like him, can't keep your stories straight. In all the debates but this last one, they asked Hillary questions first then asked BHO and his reply was always the same "I agree with what she said" Now do you really think he would make a good leader?

Jack in ND   April 23rd, 2008 7:31 pm ET

The most wonderful thing about this whole process is that the Clinton legacy has absolutely crashed and burned. The vast majority of African Americans have gone from Clinton love to Clinton loathe. Even if Obama doesn't become president, thee will be no more of that silly "Clinton was the first Black president" garbage. They've seen the real Bill Clinton now, and they don;t like what they see.

This is all worth it if only for that.

Obama does not want another debate because he is afraid of making another blunder. He cannot speak truthfully without having had his speeach well prepared. He is fake and it is time for America to react before it is too late.
We have had an inexperienced president for 8 years now, and we cannot afford another one.

Please Barack dont lower your standards.....that is a joke. Please, this is an election. He needs to address questions, and he needs to be able to answer them on the spot without a planned speech. Obama has proved over and over in debates that he has no command on the issues. So I agree Obama, don't debate Hillary..It would be pretty sad to see her knock you out yet again.

Obama will destroy the democratic party. He has some questions that need to be answered, and not with retoric.

Ditch the Clintons 08   April 23rd, 2008 7:30 pm ET

Billary is a really good liar and some people are suckers for her lies. Obama, I suggest you ditch the Democratic Party and run as an indepenent. Leave the pieces for Billary, she has destroyed and divided the party just to get what she thinks she deserves. The Democratic Party and her deserve eachother.

Lee   April 23rd, 2008 7:29 pm ET

If the last ABC debate is what Hillary has in mind, I wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole if I was Barack. When debate moderators are old Clinton media advisors and when such moderators are clearly biased against Barack, it's just an old Clinton con job, plain and simple. Hillary is on the ropes, so may as well leave her there with her misguided view of her inherent right to be the Democratic nominee. Time for her to retire into the sunset with big Bill and the rest of his old cronies.

NoMoreClintons   April 23rd, 2008 7:28 pm ET

How can America be so naive to vote for this woman? Those that are supporting her deserves everything they get if she and her husband get back in the White House. Too bad the rest of us will have to suffer because of it. We don't want to hear you complaining about them once they have bullied themselves back in the White House during The Clinton Years – Part 3, with their stealing and wheeling and dealing. I will be telling people like you the same thing I've been able to say these past 7 years, "I didn't vote for him, you did, serves you right, now live with it".

Hillary and Bill Clinton never plays fair ! For public servants, after 30 plus fantastic years of the ideal lifestyle, pension and other benefits – how about $107, 000,000.00, 'THE BEST GOD DARN BUSINESS' – never before for public servants in the USA. Do you wonder why the Clintons are clinging on, to make the history book, to leave a second Trust Account so that Chelsie may go on to the Oval Office – $1,000,000,000 "Book Deal." The bottom line the Clintons are CLINGONS – they are a has been – immoral bunch. Sincerely, Lake Hardat, a Native American Writer.

Just how is Hillary destroying the democratic party? This is a free country and she has every right to run the same as Obama has. In fact, Obama is an upstart from nowhere with no experience so why on earth would Hillary not run against him. He has not closed the deal in the first place, and in the second place he is the one who will bring the party down if he does get the nomination. The general election will not be democrate against democrate, it will be against a Republican and they will laugh in his face when he starts to whine.

New Yorker   April 23rd, 2008 7:28 pm ET

It's a very tough situation for Obama. Many Americans aren't grown up enough to accept a black man in the top job, many of Hillary tactics are sanctioned by the media because they might be feeling that she's 'putting him in his place'. He on the other hand can easilly slip into 'victim' mode like many blacks because of the burden of slavery and abuse. Guess who's brilliantly exploiting this? You guessed it, Hillary. Well done senator, I admire your cunning but you'll never get my vote.

jason pawlik   April 23rd, 2008 7:27 pm ET

I just have to say that I'm a white catholic for Obama. Old people are just plain dumb and can't accept a black man. He's trying to give us our country back by eliminating the lobbyists and she says they are useful because they represent the people. As John Edwards said "How many people in this room have lobbyists working for them?" PA voters are not very bright, the problem with our gov is the special interests. DUMB DUMB

Cindy   April 23rd, 2008 7:26 pm ET

What this is telling me is, even with her negatives sky high, she still won Pennsylvania. People still vote for her despite her negative campaign. So she's going to escalate it. Until somebody who has the authority to do so, stops her. Right now that would be.. The Superdelegates, or the voters of the next primaries.

I swear... she must have Rush advising her. Operation Chaos is in full throttle at the Clinton Camp.

GOTCHA DEBATES?????????

kelly WI   April 23rd, 2008 7:25 pm ET

Obama cancelled the CBS debate after he got whupped the last time.
He's a elitist wuss. Scaredy cat.
He lost every demographic last night except blacks and far left liberals. Now who is racist?
PA is a big state so that means a lot of electoral college votes. Little states don't have many.
Supers are waiting to see who can win nation wide. The way its shaking down neither of them can.
The only one benefitting from ads are the Ad companies and the media who get paid to run them.
Far left liberals do not win elections. Gore, Kerry, Mondale, McGovern .Dukasis.

Mar   April 23rd, 2008 7:25 pm ET

I would think that all you ObamaIdiots would WANT him to debate. Afterall, you think he has this thing wrapped up. You should want him to have the practice and believe me he will need it if he gets to the GE. He will wish he was back with Hillary!!

You keep at him Hillary!! 08

Douglas Hinds   April 23rd, 2008 7:24 pm ET

Why should he cater to another bout of sleaze, innuendo and carefully staged hatchet jobs? Hillary's behavior demonstrates that she'll stoop to any level to get the nomination but she needed at least 18% to have a fighting chance, not the 9.2% Pennsylvania's Secretary of State said she obtained yesterday (hardly a double digit victory, unless you count fractions). Is loosing over half of your original margin a victory?

T in FL   April 23rd, 2008 7:24 pm ET

The right response by Obama:

"I am more focused on meeting and talking directly with the people if Indiana and North Carolina. Sen. Clinton's continued complaining about debates, after declining several herself, is far from enticing to me."

Randy - Denver   April 23rd, 2008 7:24 pm ET

to J. McKinny not sure if I should swat your young behind or thank you for calling me an 18 to 25 year old the fact is that this 47 year old man has READ Mr. Obama's stands on the issues as well as ALL the candidates and does not need to be spoon fed the answwers, I understand why only the undereducated Hillary supporters want another debate the thought of READING and doing research has them shaking with fear. Go ahead and try reading it though folks he really does not use that many big words and if you get stuck you can always ask one of Mr. Obama's supporters it will not be hard to find one as there are more of them than of the Ms. clinton supporters just venture outside of your trailer parks and try a latte instead of the big ol slurpee from Wally World.... Okay that was a bit harsh but I am so tired of people who say they need ANOTHER debate because after more than 15 of them (I Quit counting) they still do not know where the candidates stand on the issues.

Rebecca   April 23rd, 2008 7:23 pm ET

What does the United States call other countries who change their rules in the middle of an election to favor a particular canidate. Corrupt. That is exactly what Hillary Clinton and her team want to do. Change the rules in the middle of an election. According to the official rules this election is finished and Obama is the winner. Therefore, no more need for another debate so they can team up on Obama 3 to 1 again.

I know Hillary won't quit until she is knocked out all the way, so Obama please knock her out. Give her a good solid knock out punch that lands her sprawling on the ground. Then give her a couple of good kicks to make sure she doesn't get back up. We're getting sick of her and her buddies nasty mouths.

informed voter   April 23rd, 2008 7:23 pm ET

Seriously? 21 debates and the Clinton camp wants more? What will it accomplish? Nothing (the others haven't have they?).

I really doubt that Barack is worried that he doesn't fare well. He's apparently just smart enough to realize it as the total waste of time that it is.

heartlight3   April 23rd, 2008 7:21 pm ET

Haven't we had more debates already than any other Presidential race, ever? I think after the travesty of the last debate, they have forfeited their right to any more debates. Hillary's mean and devious tactics have cost her the respect I used to have for her. I don't want a President whose criteria for election is that whoever can be the nastiest wins. How do we ever expect to change the trajectory of this country with those methods? Could that be how we got into this disastrous state in the first place? I saw that John McCain asked the RNC to take down a nasty ad. I hope that indicates a real desire for a civilized, respectful campaign.

Jane, NC   April 23rd, 2008 7:21 pm ET

Another debate would definitely be helpful IF the moderators focused on one or two single issues pertinent to the American people, such as health care or foreign policy. We need IN DEPTH discussion of issues only. That is an important means of revealing the best candidate, and quite frankly, I don't think Sen. Obama believes he would do very well.

Hillary Will Win   April 23rd, 2008 7:21 pm ET

I'm not surprised Obama is running from another debate. He doesn't like to answer real questions with real solutions. He is a polished speaker, but not a problem solver. He also refuses to appear on FOX News and answer their questions as well - what is he afraid of - that certainly asked Hillary some tough questions and she responded with respect and integrity.

Greg   April 23rd, 2008 7:21 pm ET

Not a chance Obama agrees to do any more debates.

Nor would she if she were in his position.

He just needs to continue running a positive campaign and not allow himself to be goading into anything by the sinking Clinton ship.

They are in complete desperation mode right now because they are beginning to realize that no matter what happens (Obama speech gaffe re: PA voters, sub-par debate performance by Obama in last debate, her nice win in PA last night) they cannot halt Obama's slow march toward the nomination.

Joe, Northern Virginia   April 23rd, 2008 7:20 pm ET

Sen. Clinton is a shrew politician and she knows that she is disintegrating the Democratic Party with her divisive politics... politics that she is playing straight from Karl Rove's playbook. She is undermining the not only her own ability to win in the fall elections but also Sen. Obama’s. If anyone should be making the point to the super-delegates that anyone can’t win the general elections then that should be Obama. She is playing a pathetic and shameful politics... something unlike a democrat. If there were more politicians like Obama; then there will be fewer like Hillary and her cronies in Washington!

Marian Goitia Candler, NC   April 23rd, 2008 7:19 pm ET

Senator Obama needs to spend his time speaking at his rallies which have been very well attended and probably more profitable. HRH Hillary wants to debate only to try and belittle him and disparage his remarks. She has her family meanwhile performing at the rallies, along with CNN pundits on TV, trying to inflict more damage to his campaign. Her advertisements have become shocking, sporting a picture of Bin Laden, which is taking a page out of the Rove/Bush handbook to use " fear" in obtaining her votes. We certainly do not need any more fear campaigns as we are putting that administration to rest. I am one of his senior voters, an 85 year old white lady who along with my daughter and her husband have been hoping he would become our president after hearing his stirring specch at the convention. We are registered Independents since moving to NC two years ago. We left the Democrats not pleased with their program.

Philip   April 23rd, 2008 7:19 pm ET

My problem with the debates is CNN's analysts who come on afterward.

CNN should not have Jamal whatever-his-last-name-is as one of the "analysts." He's running for office himself - press secretary under an Obama administration.

No more debates, they serve no purpose any longer other than providing more opportunities for Clinton to be obnoxious. We are all well aware of her pathetic game plan at this point.

Go Obama!

Neither Clinton can come up with a winning plan. As a soldier from the Nam war I was insulted to think that a person wanting to be president was confused about sniper fire.
How in the world did the former body guards keep their mouths shut?
Did she have no idea of what was going on around her?
I guess Bil must of told her about sniper fire or maybe she heard about at a meeting with Bush.

Well, debates only give her access to free media time....I say NO to anymore debates....Everybody who owns a television or reads a newspaper have endured 21 of these things....Enough already! There's nothing new to learn, we already know where they stand on the issues. If any Clinton cultist want another debate, let them get a video copy from the MSM of the ones we already sat through. Please post – NO MORE DEBATES DAY:1

OBAMA IS THE BEST ONE WE GOT!!!!   April 23rd, 2008 7:13 pm ET

Why should he agree to another bogus debate where going in the cards are stacked against him. If he is too aggressive with that little white woman people will think of him as an angry black man. If he is gentle and allow Hillary to put her spins on everything showing her own self to be a BRUTE OF A WOMAN, then he is considered to be weak.

I watched and thought Obama did very well, he is tired of the nonsense and was only saying let's talk about the issues that matters to people knowing fully well there are many like Hillary they feed on the BS to get by the truth is foreign to them they find it offensive.

Senator Obama We are so very proud of you and your intelligence you continue to show time after time. Keep on going you have far more in support of you than lil miss. hilly that is the very reason they are BITTER!!!

FB   April 23rd, 2008 7:12 pm ET

I would love to see Obama take a page of Clintons playbook and attack her for all her misinformation, lies and past scandals.
From Lobbying for NAFTA, supporting it for two decades to all of a sudden being against it? All the while both her husband and ex-chief strategist, Mark penn are pushing to expand NAFTA into South America.
The Clintons made $800.000 from NAFTA negotiations last year...
1996: Hillary said “I think NAFTA is proving its worth.”

1997: Hillary went to Mexico and proclaimed “NAFTA is working, working for you and working for the American people… We must accelerate the pace of these efforts, to reach more people and more communities.”

1998: Hillary went before the World Economic Forum and lauded multinational corporations for mounting “a very effective business effort in the U.S. on behalf of Nafta.”

Go ahead Hillary fans...check the facts. it's all there.

Too bad Obama doesn't want to lower himself to her level...He could rip her a new one before the first commercial break of her requested "debate". But I guess he is a man of character.

Wingit   April 23rd, 2008 7:11 pm ET

Instead of Stephanapolous this time, maybe she will bring in her friend John McCain to ask the stupid questions. To sling mud she will just have to pay for the TV ads. That is if she has any money to buy them. BTW, has anybody asked her how she so mismanaged her campaign finances so badly that she runs out of money before the campaign is over. if she ever got elected would the U.S. run ourt of money before her term was completed?

jo   April 23rd, 2008 7:11 pm ET

Ok here is the nail in Hillary's coffin for me. I had been leaning towards her if it somehow it came down to her and McCain. But this woman has no moral authority for me. This is a low low tactic. I refuse under any circumstances to vote for her now. She is ridiculous.

And Barack Obama has done well in many debates, though perhaps they are not his strongest point. He has already participated in 21 and that is a lot if not enough.

Also I was a debater in high school and though debating is fun. The best debaters are the best liars. Because debate is all about taking any issue and anything that is said and spinning it your way. It, I know, can be a very difficult thing to do and win if you have a very strong moral or ethical conscience.
Obviously Hillary doesn't.

melikeyhill   April 23rd, 2008 7:11 pm ET

bowie boy   April 23rd, 2008 7:11 pm ET

what is the issue with debates. We have seen more than enough debates. The whole Democratic party is in for big trouble. We can be looking at this election and saying it only the primary, it will spill over to the senatorial and congressional elections in the next 2 and 4 years, and the republican will have the presidency, senate and the congress. This is the beginning of something bigger than what the superdelegates are foreseeing. how can one person be more than a whole party. I will guarantee you guys now, we are going to do our upmost best to enhance the destruction of the party and put an end to the political careers of so many people. watch out

Go obama08   April 23rd, 2008 7:10 pm ET

You are certainly accurate; another debate with HRC would not be productive. She can go and debate herself, besides, she does that a best!

Larry from Georgetown, Tx   April 23rd, 2008 7:10 pm ET

I hope he doesn't do it unless the questions are published in advance and they are focused on the issues that matter to the people of our country, not a show for George S and Charlie G to show their lack of respect for people. Now if I could ask the questions and get an honest answer from the Junior Senator from New York it would be a good idea, but that won't happen as she doesn't know how to tell the truth about anything. By the way I noticed that none of the people had an American flag pin on their clothes. These debates have become a game for the media and make for lousy entertainment but I can see why Hillary wants another debate, I wonder how much she paid GS and CG to ask those questions or should I say the lobyist paid them.

1in 7 PENNSYVANIANS admitted that race was a big factor when they cast their votes. In NOV. if OBAMA is not the nonimee {afro-americans voters should go REPUBLICAN and take our chances since the DEMOCRATIC PARTY cant support our canidate, either though we always have strongly voted for white canidates. We can be the spoilers for the NOV election and send a very clear message. Who knows maybe the REPUBLICAN PARTY may embrace us and do the right thing. This is the way I going!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Terry   April 23rd, 2008 7:09 pm ET

I believe the DNC is, contrary to the news pundits, imploding. The Clintonian concept of owning the Democratic party is less than 50% accepted and the strong 50% is leaning to independent party creation if Hillary is given the democratic selection. We have worked hard to draw in 167 new young voters who will back an independent ticket with votes, money, canvasing and blogs before committing to a Clinton ticket that beg borrowed and stole it's way into the White House. Read the New York Times from this morning and remember, they endorsed Hillary before condemning her today. .

I did my own math and found that more than 80% of the U.S. population lives in the 15 big states that have already held their primaries (CA, TX, NY, FL, IL, PA, OH, MI, GA, NJ, NC, VA, MA WA, TN) . Hillary Clinton won 12 of these states. More than 210,000,000 people live in the 12 big states that Hillary Clinton has won. Of course she did not win 210,000,000 votes but she won the states in which over two thirds of our 300,000,000 US population live. This is very significant.
Also, to not count FL and MI is unjust.

AZM   April 23rd, 2008 7:08 pm ET

He doesn't want anymore debates because they hurt him... he's not very good at it. At least according to every major political analyst.

He should get ready though... if nominated he will have to have some major ones against McCain... and the Republicans will be vicious! as will the democrats... it's the nature of the beast!

ben two   April 23rd, 2008 7:07 pm ET

Obama was disgusted by the silly questions. He was not alone.

Fox and CNN have been "all-hillary-all-the-time" for two weeks before the OH and PA primaries. Things that make ya go hmmmmmm.

Of course lesser informed votors are easily manipulated. Negative campaigning WORKS.

If Americans can't see through the bull**** then they deserve what they get. Let's face it, an overwhelming majority of them couldn't find PA on a map if you gave them half the states.

Brenda   April 23rd, 2008 7:07 pm ET

The Clintons (Bill and Hillary) have shown me a side I never knew they had. SHAME on them for the LIES, LIES, LIES and negative campaigning.

Hillary or McCain '08! NEVER OBAMA!

Jesse   April 23rd, 2008 7:05 pm ET

for some reason, people keep telling Hillary to drop out because she's "lost" the race. If no one has noticed, she's right behind Obama and is only gaining momentum. A 10 point win in a state as huge as PA shouldn't go unrecognized; just wait and see how well she'll do in Indiana and North Carolina. Bring out the boxing gloves!

Tango   April 23rd, 2008 7:05 pm ET

I've got a complaint for you... whats the deal with bias Blitzer??? He clearly favors Clinton, heck so does CNN in general, don't believe me?!? take a look at the current CNN front page, and look at the largest (main) picture on the political page; both are heavily dominated by Clinton. each story I've heard while watching "the situation room" tonight has had some comment about how Clinton is catching up and how Obama is losing ground. only the middle guy of "the best political team on television" had the nerve to tell the story like it is, and when he did Wolf was quick to jump in and save Clinton, no agreement or even acknowledgment that i wa feasible she would not get those supper delegates.
I've watched Wolf for about 14 years and he has always had a thing for the Clinton's, I just think its time he show a bit more professionalism about his personal political views and work to make his show more even handed. He should accept that while he is on air he should not use that as a platform to further his candidate above others.
Thats what Fox is for :)

Nando, Florida   April 23rd, 2008 7:05 pm ET

You are right Sen. Hillary coz at every debate its no substance. Sen Obama is more comfortable giving speaches. Hope and Change? till now there has been no substance to it. Why won;t he just say something on that subject. Oh yes because he does not have any? or may be he is too busy distributing negative flyers and then crying fowl?

Shirley-Ohio   April 23rd, 2008 7:05 pm ET

I WOULD NOT DEBATE ANYMORE EITHER.

Hattie / Chicago   April 23rd, 2008 7:04 pm ET

Why would Obama want to debate Clinton again. After the ABC debate in which Clinton and her friends Charlie G. & George S. ganged up on him.. Since that debate, there has been a Cable news & television news backlash against Obama.. From Larry KIng giving her free airtime right before the PENN election to Lou Dobbs talking out of the side of his neck in a most negative manner against Obama.. What more can be said...How can he fight and win against the powers that be.

Tim   April 23rd, 2008 7:04 pm ET

Obama can only communicate when he is reading a speech that someone else wrote for him!

Tejano   April 23rd, 2008 7:04 pm ET

Americans cannot handle the truth about Obama. Hillary and McCain are villanized when they try to bring out the truth. He is the most liberal Senator in Washington. Has ties to Africa and Islam. Has never served in the military and never will.

Thank God he cannot win in November. The states he has taken with a small minority of the Democratic party do not vote for Democrats and those states that Hillary took will all go Republican in the Fall.

Nevada voter for Obama   April 23rd, 2008 7:04 pm ET

If she meant a "debate" meaning a substantive handling of the issues it would be one thing...however, given the televised "lynching" of Obama by Clinton and ABC that the last debate amounted to, I vote NO MORE DEBATES, as well! We have seen enough of HRC's ugliness to last us ten elections!

Jo   April 23rd, 2008 7:04 pm ET

Obama doesn't want to debate because he would have to answer hard questions. At rallys he just spouts opinions - not substanance!

Shirley   April 23rd, 2008 7:02 pm ET

The last debate was a farce so why have them? Hillary wasn't asked about her support of NAFTA or the Columbian Trade Deal, she wasn't asked about her support of the war she wasn't held accountable for a single thing she has said or done while the moderator's quizzed Senator Obama for 40 min. about what someone he knew said and the word bitter. The media is beginning to look like part of Hillary's campaign. Who owns CNN, MSN and Fox that this kind of 'National Esquire' reporting is encouraged? Are they Republicans who want John to run against Hillary, then her skeltons will come out of the closet or are they just Democrats for Hillary. Disgraceful reporting.

Tom   April 23rd, 2008 7:02 pm ET

If you can't stand the heat, get out of the pulpit Barack Wright.

Bridgette   April 23rd, 2008 7:02 pm ET

If you don't know what they stand for by now you never will. The reality of it is we don't need anymore debates unless it is Obama and McCain. Why does she need another debate. We know what she believes and we know what he believes. I won't watch another debate that is enough. She is not that great at debates that she needs another one. It's enough already.

April in Texas   April 23rd, 2008 7:01 pm ET

I agree, I am debate(d) out.. I will say my views on debates were crushed when it took ABC 45 minutes to finally get to a real issue. I think ABC did a bang up job playing the american people by that tabloid issue of a debate..

If CNN would expand on that war comment you made yesterday instead of talking about more debates that would be news..

As far as this primary is concerned Hillary has said enough-=-I wish she would just spend her own money and shut up!!

K   April 23rd, 2008 7:00 pm ET

That's because Obama sucks at debates. He either says " I agree with Senator Clinton" or "uuhhhhhhhhhhh". That's not a coincidence since debates and interviews can't be prewritten. Obama prefers to continue his strengths which are preaching from the stump like he believes he's JFK or MLK. Hope, change, blah blah. So tired of your words Obama. You will continue to lose votes as this process goes on because America is learning more about you and who you really are. If it weren't for the black vote, you would be done. Your naive college kids aren't reliable voters either.

frank   April 23rd, 2008 7:00 pm ET

Obama can read speech well written by others, but he is not able to debate with Hillary. He really don't know how to answer the questions from others, since he has no answer in his mind. How does become a president? He will have problems to solve the real issues.

Elizabeth, NC   April 23rd, 2008 7:00 pm ET

Yeah right. Another debate or interrogation. Obama please don't fall into her evil trap. Being the con artists they are believe me she already has the questions and answers. Besides, me and every learned person is tired of this nonsense. And another thing, Wolf Blitzer, Campbell Brown, John King and that arrogant white man who comes on at seven after the situation room who is pertrified of foreign born individuals from Mexico, if Hillary Clinton is paying you to cover her negativity against dear Obama, get cash upfront.!!!!!.

Wake up America!   April 23rd, 2008 7:00 pm ET

She'll do her best to goad him into doing it. It's all a setup...just like the last one. Anybody with half a brain saw it for what it was. Just analyze her performance. She had tailor-made questions. Her talking points were already laid out for her. Don't believe me? Watch it again and check her eye movements. Down and right to her notes. Then up and to the right, indicating that she is trying to access the creative centers of her brain. Evidence that she is lying folks. Ever notice how Obama does his best to look you in the eye? Wake up.

Texican   April 23rd, 2008 6:58 pm ET

No more debates. We are sick and tired of both of them. They never discuss the issues anyway. Just another forum for them to push their slogans.. We want to know how they will handle the illegal immigrants already in this country and what they will do to stop more from coming into the U.S. Both legal and illegal immigration needs to stop.

Jerry   April 23rd, 2008 6:58 pm ET

After Sen Obama's performance in the PA debate you can't blame him for declining any further debates. The road to the nomination might be getting too hot.

Elle   April 23rd, 2008 6:58 pm ET

Just check the ratings and the volume of millions that tuned in last week.Believe me not everybody has a chance to meet the candidate live nor have cable access.
And it is the only format where you can not prep with speeches and need to address issues on an instant and openly.
What is wrong with that Obama ?
Don't seem to be comfortable with your speech ability anymore ..
Strange indeed !

Shannon-

Can you be serious????? I think you have your candidates confused. You should rewatch the "debate". It couldn't be more obvious that her answers were totally scripted! She doesn't write anything herself unlike BO who writes all of his own speeches. That "debate" was a farce created by her cronies to fool the poor, less educated electorate of PA to keep her boat afloat. I wouldn't be surprised if BO was given a slightly different set of questions than she was. And for the record, all she did was complain about all the previous debates so why does she need one more? If BO gets to handpick the moderators like I'm sure Camp Clinton secretly did then maybe. Really, if she wants to discuss the issues, she can do it on the stump......I'm still waiting for her to prove he was lying about her healthcare plan as she claims. Just saying so doesn't make it so. Where's the beef? She's a lying cow. She needs to be put out to pasture.

Chris   April 23rd, 2008 6:55 pm ET

Where's the story about Hillary backing out of a debate between 4/22 and 5/6?? if debates asked good questions I'd say go for it... but if they only bring up Obama's skeletons b/c he's the front runner and only 1 of hers (bosnia), then that's not a "debate". She also wants to play the "gotcha" game – aka OLD politics. Stay positive and ON the issues.. and with the media the way it is, campaigning is probably the only way to do that.

Hillary + Bill + Chelsea + McCain in some ways

vs

Obama

Yes his schedule should be booked.

Yves larochelle   April 23rd, 2008 6:55 pm ET

Bill Clinton, the shameless cheater has lost the latest string of cridibility as a former president. He behaves and talks like a moron and latent racist!

Jamie, NY   April 23rd, 2008 6:55 pm ET

Thanks to the Clinton campaign for showing us that no matter how much you talk crap, how many staff and strategy advisors that are secretly playing for the other team (like she didn't know in advance about the Penn/ Colombia meeting!) and that with a careless"hell we'll just nuke 'em" declaration you can still hold your head high, deflect any accountability and divide the democratic party even further by exposing their extreme ineptness at handling a loose cannon like your campaign has been. The more you talk, the more you sound like GWB. Alienating people left and right and taking care of what only matters to you while this country sinks further into decline, you have managed to change my opinion of you so dramatically that I will NEVER vote for you!!

I hope Obama goes "kitchen sink" on you and deflates whatever high and mighty elitist and egotistical cloud you seem to float on.

Obama or McCain in '08! We don't need a pretensious Bush wannabe in office!

Basquale   April 23rd, 2008 6:54 pm ET

It's time to solve problems instead of debating. Stop this nonsense!

Bryan   April 23rd, 2008 6:54 pm ET

I'm sick of the debates. And they are not really debates. They are joint interviews. I can learn just as much by reading or watching interviews of each of them by various media outlets. Let's not call them "debates." And honestly, there have more than enough of them! As long as this race has gone on, who doesn't know enough by now to make up their mind???

MAy   April 23rd, 2008 6:54 pm ET

Oh so that the likes of George Stephanopulos will get the chance to do the Clintons' dirty job for them? Did Hillary agree to debates when she was running for the Senate in New York? Does this Clinton gang feel shame? DEAN, YOU ARE NOT A WEAK LEADER!

Joe, Northern Virginia   April 23rd, 2008 6:54 pm ET

I really don’t know the reason why Sen. Clinton and her campaign want another debate. Clearly, these candidates have very little policy differences between them... and their contention during debates come to their little differences in their health care policies. They have had enough debates! They should go ahead and explain to the people the reason why they should vote for them. I think another debate will have very little if any influence on the NC and IN voters since all their (candidates) close to a dozen debates if not more were watched nationally. People should critically analyze the debates and tell me if they heard anything dramatically different the last time from the previous ones. Plus, has anyone listened to CNN's Lanny Davis's analysis at all? He is a disgrace to lawyers; people who pride themselves on logics and fair reasoning for a living. I wonder how he got on CNN.

Jason from Colorado   April 23rd, 2008 6:54 pm ET

Aussie Pork   April 23rd, 2008 6:53 pm ET

Can someone please explain to me exactly why Florida and Michigan delegates aren't being included? Why did they go early? Who made them do it? Why?

Surely those primaries should be held again? How can a system be fair if the voters of two states are not counted? It isn't democracy, that is for sure.

Now, at such a late stage, if Obama won Florida surely Hillary would have to quit. It would be an emphatic victory and the Democrats could get on with the real business of trying to defeat McCain. If Hillary won then it would all come down to the Superdelegates. In any event we'd be a whole lot closer to a getting a fair result rather than the sham that we currently have.

Please explain how such a large state will not have their voters will included? This isn't a game, this is democracy. Many people have died defending this right.

jose   April 23rd, 2008 6:53 pm ET

Oh come on debate. I love either seeing him stumble and say, "that is not what I meant to say" or watching him fumble. Sure .. now you want to appease the elderly. The elderly got your # Obama. Older people are harder to fool. Although, you do have quite a few rallying to you. Many of the tv stations could have cared less about Clinton except to say how bad she is doing. It's to late to shore up your leaks Obama. Many Democrats will either not vote or vote for McCain if you are nominated. You can't win the White House.

John Smith   April 23rd, 2008 6:53 pm ET

People need to remember that even MCCain does not want to use "dirty tatics." I think I have heard him make several statements regarding this issue, given what he experienced in the hands of George Bush.

But all that Hillary wants us to believe is that there is a need to "fight" rather than negotiate; that there is a need to tel lies, rather than be honest; that there is a need to throw mud, rather than compromise. Well, this is Washington, as we know it- fight, blame the other party, and do not carry out any solution for this nation. Keep fighting, but when you go out there, be prepared to pay $4 at the pump; expect your job to close down, and expect to pay more for food and insurance. Just keep fighting, see if these fights resolve any issue for this nation!!!!

Rohit   April 23rd, 2008 6:53 pm ET

lisa   April 23rd, 2008 6:52 pm ET

All of you who DON'T want another debate don't want to give Barack Obama a chance to clarify his support of raising the Employment tax cap from $102,000 to $200,000? I sure do. On the one hand he said there would be no new taxes to people with incomes less than $200,000 then he mentions looking into raising the Employment Tax cap. That's a huge tax increase of at least 7.5% on icome over $102K and as much as 15.3% for people who are self employed. You can't say no new taxes and then pull something like that. I think he needs to answer it and since it only came out in the debate, obviously he's not answering it during campaigning. I think another debate is needed.

JJ from Arizona   April 23rd, 2008 6:52 pm ET

You know... people had an unfavorable view of obama after the debate because he got irritated. If you really look at what happened though, it really strengthens his argument. They spent almost half the debate talking about garbage.

Brandy- I love Obama!   April 23rd, 2008 6:52 pm ET

Another opportunity to boost negativity in this campaign. Hillary, we are tired of hearing you! That NY article was 100% accurate when it discredited her and blamed her for the all the negativity in this campaign. The debates don't discuss the real issues of America, but continues to run in circles with the petty stuff. I am ready for a change. I want to discuss real issues. Hillary has nothing to lose and she is beyond desperate. She was a person who I once admired many years ago before I knew the real truth, and now words can't express how much I dislike this woman.

Obama 08

Lila   April 23rd, 2008 6:51 pm ET

Yes, Hillary wants free coverage. Also, criticizing Sen. Obama for not agreeing to another debate gives her another opportunity to go negative. There is no way she can get the nomination, and is just staying because she cannot face reality. She is NOT qualified to be president ... she has proven that. She really would be a great running mate for McCain, she plays their kind of politics. Big mouth, no substance. Please Hillary go home to NY, but I really do not think they want you anymore!!!

DJ, LA, CA   April 23rd, 2008 6:50 pm ET

Yes Obama said it best...we know there pitches so well by now it is just the same stuff recycled over and over.

Healhcare, Iraq, etc. has already been addressed. Hillary voted for Iraq and Obama made a speech against the war.

What else is there to talk about? Flag pins? Religion? Racial profiling?

kathleen retired Professional w/woman for obama   April 23rd, 2008 6:50 pm ET

Did Hillary go to "rove" school?

sylvia   April 23rd, 2008 6:50 pm ET

WHY?.....We've had enough debates....and that last one was a waste of time and resources, not to mention the fact that it was clearly a set-up by the Status-Quo Operatives against Sen. Obama, with help from the Clinton machine (Bill's xpresidential powers at work) – However, there is a power greater than the power of the forces that are fighting hard to deny "We the People" access back into the governance of our Republic. The Status-Quo Operatives may wield a lot of power in our political system, but it has no might against the "Hand of Almighty God" Who is going to bring CHANGE to America, on so many levels (spiritually, socially, politically, economically, ect) – in not many days hence, whether they like it or not!

kathleen retired Professional w/woman for obama   April 23rd, 2008 6:49 pm ET

David   April 23rd, 2008 6:48 pm ET

I am amazed that Hillary Clinton has the gust to shout about her victory and she turns around to call herself the underdog having entered the race as the 'Princess'. What a drama, it reminds me of the story of the dubious emperor in the Russel Crowe's movie The Gladiator. Mark my words, the only thing Hillary will gain out of all of this is shame even if she wins the november elections.

SZ   April 23rd, 2008 6:48 pm ET

You scared, Barack?

mike   April 23rd, 2008 6:48 pm ET

Funny all the Obama supporters seem to be afraid of thier guy debating. I wonder why that is. Could it be that without a prepared speech thier guy looks more like the beginer he is. If your guy is so far ahead in everything and is gonna win, I mean look at the math, why not meet her. Fear Fear Fear. Not what I want in a presidential. And don't give me any of this BS about Clinton doing the same thing if the positions were switched. She loves debating and would be happy to run circles aroud your guy. We have but one way to loose to the GOP.... Obama.

Venus   April 23rd, 2008 6:48 pm ET

She hasn't figured out that she lost the debate?

Again – you are in the lead Obama – focus on Mc Cain and winning the rest of the states! Hillary is the one who has to prove some thing!

Mark   April 23rd, 2008 6:47 pm ET

I think it's absolutely incredible that Clinton can say, unprompted, in a Ohio debate:

"Well, can I just point out that in the last several debates, I seem to get the first question all the time. And I don't mind. I - you know, I'll be happy to field them, but I do find it curious"

What was the question about? It was about NAFTA.

And then, she gives Obama the business for complaining about getting questions about frickin' flag pins!!

I mean, she's right, Obama has to deal with that crap, but she complained louder over far less.

Now, the hypocracy doesn't bother me, because when you're right, you're right, and right now, Clinton is right, even through she was wrong in Ohio.

But what does bother me is the fact that she is able to stand up and spin her entire campaign around this notion, as if Ohio never happened.

It's smart politics, I guess, but the fact that people fall for it is absolutely astounding...

bobby   April 23rd, 2008 6:47 pm ET

Theses HRC machine is really funny to think after that bullcrap called debate the last time will happen again is isane. The Gov and the mayor probably planted the clown from ABC and this was very disappointing to say the least. she has sudenly become a desperado of some sort.

Obama, defend yourself immediately and move on with dot org!!!
American wants to hear and listen to you. Hillary has no message.

dispicable, despisable woman!

lisa   April 23rd, 2008 6:47 pm ET

Neither candidate has ENOUGH support to win the nomination on their own. Another debate could sway voters one way or the other. If you look at all the polls there are a lot of undecided voters. I'm still waiting to hear a GOOD reason why I should vote for Obama if Clinton doesn't win the nomination. I would never just not vote, but I'd write Hillary Clinton's name on the ballot if she's not the nominee. People who have not fallen at his feet need to know more about Barack Obama before committing to voting to him. Another debate could really sway things one way or the other or at the very least put to rest the fear people have of the other if their candidate doesn't win the nomination.

I can see that Obama's team can't stand the heat!!! Remember there have been 21 debates, but only 3 with Hillary and Barack alone. All the rest had other potential candidates.

What are all of you scared of? Hope this isn't what the future holds, when things get tough, refuse to address the issues, refuse to come up to the plate, but have a speech about hope.

I hope HOPE will carry the country for 4 years if Obama wins, because he sure doesn't have the spine for anything harsh coming his way.

LeeRoy, Nottingham (UK)   April 23rd, 2008 6:45 pm ET

People, there have not been that many debates with just the two of them. If we could get some real questions about substantive issues that people REALLY care about rather than flag pins and who pardoned whom, then I would LOVE to see another debate.

Obama, don't run from this, get some legitimate news people in there and let's have a debate about issues. This is what the American people want.

What about having the league of woman voters run it like they did in the past.

Seriously, they have debated 20+ times. What good is another debate going to have? We already know more about these two and their plans than probably any other primary candidates in the history of this country. Plus I have to agree with Sen Obama, during the last debate they spent almost an hour talking about "he said/she said" stuff. If that is what the debates are going to be about, then NO we do not need anymore of them.

There have been over 20 debates and if you are interested in their positions on different issues, you can just look on-line (as Hillary pointed out in the last "debate."They have "debated" enough, it's gotten ridiculous. This last "debate" was nothing more than a giant fiasco to intimidate Obama and give Hillary soft questions. George and Charlie, obviously favored Hillary, and so it was a complete waste of time to watch.....unless you were a hillary fan.

I'd never "debate" her again if I were Obama. Let her debate someone else if she's so hot to do so. Obama needs to campaign and get to know more people. Everyone already knows Hillary and all her 2,500 negatives.....no need to get to know her any better. PLEASE!

Ryan, New York, NY   April 23rd, 2008 6:38 pm ET

First, the PA debate was a complete travesty. When you see how that was handled by ABC, no wonder Obama doesn't want another one. It was a complete waste of his time debating and my time watching them ask 50 straight minutes of questions with no substance.

Second, I know why one candidate wants a 22nd debate – BECAUSE SHE'S OUT OF MONEY AND CAN'T AFFORD ADVERTISING!

Lastly, do we really need a debate to give this mathematically challenged campaign more of a chance to help McCain's bid in November?

obama, stick to your guns and campaign more. hrc should have never turned down your initial date request. everything has to be on her terms.

no to debates, more to campaigning. she has name recognition so she can afford to pay off her clowns and get the questions ahead of time. you don't have that insider trading thing working for you, so make yourself known to the rest of us by campaigning in your front lawns.

less to media spin, more to real issues worthy of making news!

Sharon Minnesota   April 23rd, 2008 6:36 pm ET

frank   April 23rd, 2008 6:36 pm ET

I used to be a Clinton supporter, but her "mis-speaking" and negative campaign attitude puts me off. She is not really helping the democratic party in the bid for winning the November election. Her attitude is divisive and splitting the party. You can tell from the number of her folk who claim they cannot vote for Obama even if he wins the nomination.
I totally disagree that she performed better than Obama in last week's debate. Obama has reached a tolerant limit for Clinton's negative campaign technique which was very prominent in that debate. He does not consider her attitude in the debate good for the democratic party and americans in general. It is not in the interest of the democratic party for Obama to debate with Clinton again. There is nothing helpful or constructive in debating with her.
It is time for the true democrats to rise and put an end to her unhelpful campaign. She won Pennsylvania, Ohio and Texas because of her negative campaign which has increasingly divided the party!

DGH   April 23rd, 2008 6:36 pm ET

Seems to me Barack can't find the time because he knows he doesn't fare well against Hillary in debates and why is that? Because he can't do the one-on-one spin. Hillary holds him accountable, just as the American voters should.

Ardnuas   April 23rd, 2008 6:36 pm ET

I don't want to see ANYMORE debates................Hillary is trying to destroy the democratic party..... she can't WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!

momma obama   April 23rd, 2008 6:36 pm ET

Dear Senator Obama,
She can say what she wants, and CNN too, however, please
do not lower your standards, do not let them reel you in the trap of politics same old same old, where they bring trash and not the issues facing our country. These debates are not worth your time, the people's taxes, time and we dont want to hear another bashing and misleading or misrepresentation of where you stand and of what we the people want. It is offensive, and its not democratic it is not a debate. We all know where you stand, and to give them what they want is to do politics as usual...

the media , rush limbaugh , and the billarys do not like to hear honest answers, or accept one makes mistakes, they see that as a weakness. Hillary like Bush likes threats, lies, blames, et.c. she is worse than Bush I am sad to say............

the so called debates ........is a laugh, I mean really my 13 year old commented "how is this a debate?"
lord these are political tricks to the lamest.. I know Rush L, was behind operation chaos but I did not the media was carrying his message and helping Hillary with her same old same old..

carol woodward   April 23rd, 2008 6:36 pm ET

CHANGE   April 23rd, 2008 6:34 pm ET

Hillary cannot be the Democratic nominee. If she were, she would have to stop endorsing John McCain. Poor Hillary can't quit him.

applecrispbetty   April 23rd, 2008 6:34 pm ET

Don't debate, her, Barack. Ignore her. You'll win in any case. Take the high road.

John Edwards   April 23rd, 2008 6:34 pm ET

In case Hillary doesn't know, PA was her last big chance. Hillary was suppose to win by 20 points.

When all is said and done, Obama will be ahead in delegates and popular vote. So, Hillary is now irrevelent.

Obama is now shifting full gears towards John McCain.

Frances   April 23rd, 2008 6:34 pm ET

Enough debates. We know why Clinton wants them, to boost her self esteem. We have heard all we want from her. What more do we need? More negativity? They say all they want without the debates . We don't need them. A waste of time and money.

Judy   April 23rd, 2008 6:33 pm ET

PA is oriented toward a Hillary type, period. As for debates, enough already! Obama brought Hill's 28 point lead down to 9 or so, so he did well. The more we see Hillary, the less we like her. She should stick to drinkin' with the good ole boys.

Jim   April 23rd, 2008 6:33 pm ET

I woudn't call a debate with Obama a debate. It's more time for him to recite his 4 year old speech. Pay attention next time, if there is one. He can't debate, and he knows it. Why would a presidential candidate ever say "let's not debate, let's campaign" He's also had his time in the Illinois senate and the US senate to back his words with actions. His record does not support it. How could that possibly be....unless he's going to CHANGE.

Molly   April 23rd, 2008 6:33 pm ET

The only debate he's going to engage in is with McCain. Because he's the nominee, and we're moving on to the general. Clinton is obsolete, the Democrats are moving on.

Deborah   April 23rd, 2008 6:32 pm ET

Obama should never debate the Liar Hillary Rotten Clinton again

Obama should save his energy for meeting the people in Indiana and SC

Clinton wants to debate because she has some dirty tactics up her sleeve.

Obama should go the other way and not deal with this Rotten Woman

Hillary is not for America Hillar y and Bill are only for themselves

Carlos from Maryland   April 23rd, 2008 6:32 pm ET

Bill and Hillary are just too dishonest. Some leadership! They are insisting on and feeling entitled to taking this nation into the gutter...again!

Herman LA, CA   April 23rd, 2008 6:32 pm ET

NO MORE DEBATES PLEASE NO!!! THERE IS NOTHING MORE TO LEARN IN THESE DEBATES. I HAVE SEEN ENOUGH. LET SENATOR CLINTON GRAND STAND ON HER OWN DIME.

I CANT STAND THESE PEOPLE I HATE THAT I VOTE FOR BILL CLINTON

Tricia   April 23rd, 2008 6:31 pm ET

It is so obvious that Clinton just wants the chance to throw more mud. She's not prepared to discuss issues. How do you think she will conduct herself if elected President She will be worse than Bush Jr. She won't listen, or discuss. She will simply start hurling irrelevant insults. She failed on healthcare once. That was because of her attitude. She's not changed. I am for Obama. After seeing how Hillary behaves I'm against Hillary. Yes McCain may be the better choice for a lot of better off, better educated Democrats and Independents. We have jobs, can afford healthcare and would prefer a candidate who we all know could have been President instead of Bush if dirty tactics hadn't ruined his chances. He does seem more honorable. Hillary says she won't change Washington and is talking about nuking Iran. If it's not Obama I'll support McCain.

Claudia, Tucson, AZ   April 23rd, 2008 6:31 pm ET

We have had 22 debates and do not need anymore. If anyone doesn't know what the candidates positions are they have been living under a rock. Barack is unable to defend himself in these debates without being seen as a black man attacking a white woman and the Clinton's know this. They just want to bring more of the "trash" out. Please don't insult, those of us that are thinking, our intelligence. He will be very formidable opponent with McCain. Everyone watch out for the nasty politics of the Clinton's. Even the New York Times has caught on. For the SuperD's to allow this to continue on, knowing the math, is pandering to the Clinton's they need to find some backbone.

Educated Black Male for Hillary April 23rd, 2008 4:28 pm ET

OBAMA is just a BIG LOOSER

Sorry, I saw this on another post and comments were closed, so I had to respond here.

Educated to what grade? 1st? Guess they didn't get to the spelling part yet.

Unless that is what you meant, in which case I have to ask: How can we make Obama a big tighter instead?

Chanda-Cincinnati Ohio   April 23rd, 2008 6:31 pm ET

I am sick of seeing these two debate. If you don't know where they stand on the issues by now than you are either illiterate, or you live under a rock. The next debate I want to see is McCain vs WHOEVER wins the Democratic nod! Hillary is just trying to get some free airtime.

Makeshift   April 23rd, 2008 6:31 pm ET

Yeah when you get your cronies to moderate the debate, of COURSE Hillary is going to win, Bill. You are such a liar.

al-des moines   April 23rd, 2008 6:31 pm ET

He oughta be scared out of his tired white shirt and black suit to debate her. She chews him up and spits him out every time.

If he's a coward now, what would he be like in the White House?

Barack Obama Hiding Himself From The Voters   April 23rd, 2008 6:31 pm ET

I think Barack Obama should debate. Voters have a right to know him and he is not allowing that. It makes me wonder what he might be hiding. I think he is very uncomfortable with showing us his real self. Why? Voters are just asking to be able to get to know a candidate in order to make an informed decision. No RESPONSIBLE voter will vote for a candidate he or she does not know very well and if the candidate will not let us see who he is and what he truly stands for, then we have no basis on which to vote for him.

Capt. Smash, Salt Lake City, Utah   April 23rd, 2008 6:31 pm ET

Debt watch for Clinton. How long will it take for her to pay her bills?

Elisabeth   April 23rd, 2008 6:31 pm ET

No idea Clinton, he can only make speeches,

justobserve   April 23rd, 2008 6:30 pm ET

Obama should let them have the " Watch: Refused!" everyday until sunset! Not only bullies are to be avoided, the kind of bullies who have their hands in the cookie jars and scrumbs on their lips and when asked who ate the cookies, point to their fellow or whoever near them should be avoided at all costs! Don't let them lure you to the debate and gang-rape you.

dave   April 23rd, 2008 6:30 pm ET

I think some Obama supporter...not him though...should launch a 'sniper fire' watch for Clinton. It could be a count down until the next time she or bill was caught in another lie.

FRED, ATLANTA, GA   April 23rd, 2008 6:30 pm ET

Clinton SOOOOOOOO did not win that debate according to a msnbc poll 78% thought obama won. Enough with the debates anyway the clinton campaign obviously thinks that after debates and a primary is near she does well, well lets just see how she does in the next primary with out debating you've done more than 20 enough of the debates we need to get Obama nominated asap because when it is all said and done he's going to get the nomination, does not matter if clinton won big states he's won big states as well but for some reason they think those states obama has won don't matter. If those big states she won mattered so much how come clinton doesn't have the nomination by now and they are asking why can't obama close the deal, I think we all know the answer to that , what I want to know from those loyal blind clinton supporters is how come SHE couldn't close the deal on SUPER Tuesday when her campaign said it would. Explain that to me please.

b   April 23rd, 2008 6:30 pm ET

That's right, Obama – just ignore her. Why waste time debating a candidate who has no chance of winning the nomitation undern any scenario? Focus on McCain in stead.

dAVEB   April 23rd, 2008 6:29 pm ET

No reason for Obama to have anymore debates, It's a setup by the clinton campaign and the media. It's obvious who the media and america IS FOR. hILLARY IS NOT TOUGH, SHE IS A BULLY, If Obama was to fight back, then it would appear to white america, a black man is picking on a white woman. No matter what he does, the media, CNN, ABC, FOX and some knucklhead commentators(republicans) will find something wrong. Race is a major factor and it is obvious who is clinton's prime support, older white women, and uneduacted white men. If she thinks the popular vote will matter, she is just as delusional as the DNC should they nominate her. Obama should just keep doing what he;s doing and have a real debate with Mccain in the Fall

joe   April 23rd, 2008 6:29 pm ET

Who is going to moderate George S. and Charlie Gibson as they did it last week. Enough is Enough We heard it all.

Manuel TX   April 23rd, 2008 6:29 pm ET

No surprise here, Obama keeps getting his butt handed to him by Hillary in debates.

He's better off reading pre-written, call/respond speeches, with a teleprompter.

He's worthless in a debate. He simply can't think on his feet.

:)

D.Kimbro OHIO   April 23rd, 2008 6:29 pm ET

I am sure they want another debate, however, I think this would be ill-advised for Obama. If the format will allow for a discussion of the issues that would be nice. The Clintons seem to want opportunities, to pander lies and distort the truth. I am sure that CNN will have a good time posting this type of stuff. I hope he doesnt bow to the pressure the same news agencies that cost him Pa. If it were'nt for the constant smear of of his character he would have faired much better. Even with that he was closer than the polls indicated he would be when fight for Pa started. I am sure he will right the ship in time to get this nomination.

People Trust Obama   April 23rd, 2008 6:28 pm ET

100% of Obama's money comes from the people. So he will owe THE PEOPLE in the end, not some Drug Company or Special interest Corporation . She has run her campaign finances into the ground and is in debt. $10 million, he has not.

If THE PEOPLE have Given Obama Money Now and trust him, more than they trust her with there finances then they won't mind paying taxes, as much, if He is President because they know he will spend it only towards the well being of the country.

To remind everyone... countries won't mind lending us money and working with us becuase they know he will actually pay it back ON TIME and work towards solutions, not instigate problems or want to fight everyone like Hill.

She says she want's peace but all she can talk about is fighting, even if they are on her team

Shame on you Hillary.

stephanie   April 23rd, 2008 6:28 pm ET

if i were him, i wouldn't want to debate her either. even if the moderators put aside the trash, ie., Wright, Resko, bittergate, etc., she still will knock him out on the issues. She's simply the better candidate.

Dems, let's kiss and make up! Clinton/Obama 2008/2012

KJ, CA   April 23rd, 2008 6:27 pm ET

We do not need another debate – 17 is more than enough. We also don't need to listen to Hillary calling Barack out to debate her, we do not need to allow her to continue to derail the real discussions that we should be having. How about the candidates talk about the issues and spend their time meeting with the voters and talking to them.

Gloria   April 23rd, 2008 6:27 pm ET

If these debates truly focused on the issues that are important to the American citizens I could understand the need for this type of fourm. But they don't! IInstead, they are used as opportunities to point fingers, make accusations and act like 5 year olds! Enough already!

This is just another ploy by the Clinton campaign to get more airtime on someone else's dime!

Jason   April 23rd, 2008 6:26 pm ET

Primary reason Clinton wants to debate.....

Her campaign is running low on money. The last time she pushed for more debates was right after she loaned her campaign $5 million. Interesting coincidence?

Also, I really don't care to see more debates as it is not helping get issues solved. Great Hillary can be titled champion of the United States in debates. That doesn't translate into getting things done for our country.

diane pryslak   April 23rd, 2008 6:26 pm ET

I am a Hillary Clinton supporter and I am having a difficult time with the media especially CNN. All you do is Hillary bashing even when she accomplishes good things like winning Pennsylvania by double digits!!! Barack Obama is an eletist and I believe he is purposely vague. He cannot even say"God bless America" without stuttering!! Why is it that this press core cannot see the handwriting on the wall?!
You have a responsibility to report the news fairly and honestly. Instead your group has decided to tell America who to vote for!! I used to love to watch CNN now I refuse to do so. You are a disgraceful organization.

KJ, CA   April 23rd, 2008 6:26 pm ET

How many debates do you need to have, really? They have already had like 17 – enough is enough. I agree with Senator Obama 100% we don't need another debate. We definitely don't need to hear about having another debate either. How about this one? Let's hear about the issues.

Jaime   April 23rd, 2008 6:26 pm ET

Ya know, if someone could come up with an ACTUAL debate format, maybe Obama would consider it. Instead what is offered is a BS session concentrating on stupid sideshow issues instead of the problems our country is facing.

justobserve   April 23rd, 2008 6:25 pm ET

Yeh, Obama should NOT waste time debating Clinton. As in the schoolyard, avoiding the bullies is advisable!

Jack in ND   April 23rd, 2008 6:25 pm ET

Debates are useless theatre anyways. Stick with real people and real issues.

Carmen   April 23rd, 2008 6:25 pm ET

The Debate is find as long as the Clinton's don't have a hand in the Debate. Hillary and Bill is running this campaign so whatever they want but I think that is wrong. Bill needs to go home and stop running this campaign.

gail   April 23rd, 2008 6:25 pm ET

I like Senator Obama, but he sometimes says stupid things, without thinking. People twist what he said so he ends up in trouble the voters.

Don't relent Barack, you don't NEED another debate with her...

She is up to her old tricks again.

Let her and the media pressure you all they want, dog you out, call you a coward or whatever, they've been dogging you out anyway and will continue to – so who cares! You are going to win anyway...

southerndem   April 23rd, 2008 6:24 pm ET

ROFL this woman has ZERO originallity. From stealing Obamas "yes we can" and turning it into "yes we will". Did she get this Obama watch idea from Faux News Sunday where they have their Obama watch going too? Glad to see Hillary is finally showing her true stripes as a right wing tool. Taking campaign cues from Fox , like Stephanopolous did with Hannity at the debate, should let you Hillary supporters know where she gets her ideas.

No McClinton 08   April 23rd, 2008 6:24 pm ET

Glenn Griggs   April 23rd, 2008 6:23 pm ET

I only have one thing to say. Taking a quote from President Bill Clinton during the 2004 DNC. If one candidate is offering you hope and another candidate is offering you fear, always vote for the candidate who offers you hope. Thats one reason why i'm supporting Obama for President.

gail   April 23rd, 2008 6:23 pm ET

Nicole in NE   April 23rd, 2008 6:23 pm ET

Sorry, but that debate was a joke. If you watched any of the CNN debates – you could tell a huge difference in the way the questions were poised. Debate moderaters are there to moderate, not to act like tabloids.
True Obama got grilled and it made Hillary come out looking like a saint in the end. But honestly, they didn't ask her anything questionable except about Bosnia? How about her husband's dealings with Columbia and NAFTA? Oh yeah..... her relationship with her husband has nothing to do with her – but Obama's to his pastor does.

Sophie   April 23rd, 2008 6:22 pm ET

BO is pathetic. He's been crying and whining about the last debate and now he's afraid to do another one. He has better things to do? Like what? Give stump speeches? I'm sure he can invite some of his fans to the debate as well!
I want another debate. No Ayers-questions, no Bosnia-questions. Issues. So she can -once again- show her command of the subjects at hand and he can-once again- show us how he only has good answers when reading someone else's speech from a teleprompter...

HRC=JMC   April 23rd, 2008 6:22 pm ET

Nancy Thelwell   April 23rd, 2008 6:21 pm ET

As a black person in America, I must say that I am very disgusted with the racial overtones in the media coverage.i thought the media was supposed to be reporting and not showing a bias but too many of you (eg. -Chris Matthews of msnbc,Lou Dobbs of cnn and others seemed very biased in your coverage. However I am thrilled with the number of white voters who have grown up and learned to overlook race as a factor. But the media tells a story so slanted that you know that they hope by telling it one way;they can turn their biased coverage into a reality. If they say anything enough that it will become a reality. as for myself, I lived in DC during the Clinton years and between the Clinton's shenanigans and the Republicans investigations ,I was sick of it and so no I will not vote for four more years of Clinton-gate ;my conscience will not allow it!

YESWECAN08   April 23rd, 2008 6:20 pm ET

Yeah, let's have another debate but this time why don't we give Hillary the BS gotcha questions for the first 45 minutes. Let's ask her about Mark Penn and his relationship with the Columbians. Or maybe we can bring up why Big Bill excepted 800k from them as well. What about the fact that she won't release her lists of earmarks or the donors list to the Clinton Library? I bet there are plenty of Hoosiers that would like to know why this unknown from IL has been able to whip her in delegates, states won AND popular vote, I mean after all wasn't she the heir apparent for the nomination? Lastly, the good folk of Indiana deserve to know why she voted to enter into a useless war that has cost the lives of over 4k of our citizens.

Lisa in Cincy   April 23rd, 2008 6:19 pm ET

Why keep debating when the media will twist his words.
He's right to focus on the ISSUES and not Hillary. She thinks everyone has to do what she says and say it the way she wants them to say it. Get over yourself!

The Clinton machine is getting out of control and their desperation is showing. After taking part in 21 debates they have the nerve to say that Obama is scared of debates. Give me a break.

Obama – you are ahead of Hillary – you don't have to debate. Spend your time with the people!

What a sad ploy by a truly sad group of individuals. How could anyone not know the difference between the candidates after 21 debates! For crying out loud! I know the Clinton camp is hoping for another hit job reminiscent of the ABC travesty last week, but luckily only her hardcore supporters are stupid enough to fall for her shananigans over and over again.

Obama can only sing the song of change. Ask him the specifics, and he's as good as a dumb (pun intended) & deaf.

No wonder, he doesn't want to debate. His whole campaign is a farce aimed at grabbing the white house for himself.

Just stay focus on Mc Cain!

Hillary Clinton is running out of money. She needs free coverage.

She can't afford to travel. Not many people want to contribute to a losing campaign.

So get her a debate!!! She can debate herself with all her PACs and Washington lobbyists.

Yes we can!

OBAMA '08!

EG FROM TORONTO   April 23rd, 2008 6:16 pm ET

HILLARY CAN AFFORD TO TAKE TIME OFF FROM HER CAMPAIGN TO DEBATE, SHE HAS HER HUSBAND AND DAUGHTER COMING OUT OF THE" BULL PEN". OBAMA FOR THE MOST PART IS A ONE MAN SHOW.. ENOUGH OF THESE STUPID DEBATES.

Ingrid   April 23rd, 2008 6:15 pm ET

The only reason Hillary Clinton wants more debates is because it is free advertising and she is low on funds. I'd tell her to use her own ill gotten funds.

George   April 23rd, 2008 6:15 pm ET

What is the point of having more debates? There has been 21 already.

Hillary Clinton   April 23rd, 2008 6:15 pm ET

Hillary you make me want to barf – No more air time for you!

Getting tired of this   April 23rd, 2008 6:14 pm ET

I have been criticizing people who say if Obama doesn't win they will vote McCain. But every story I see out of the Clinton campaign has me feeling more and more sympathy for those who feel this way. I don't know if I could bring myself to vote for McCain, but I really can't vote for her anymore. Not even for the Senate here in NY where I live. I find her and her tactics despicable. She wants to launch a debate-watch? Let's launch an unpaid-debts-watch; a lie-about-your-experience-watch; a race-baiting-spouse-watch. I am starting to want to see her lose even more than I want to see Obama win.

Sherri   April 23rd, 2008 6:14 pm ET

What in the world does she want to debate about? ABC couldn't even ask legitimate questions at the last one. They wasted an hour of time of ridiculous banter. There was no vetting of the issues or delving into plans for action. It was a farce. We need no more of this nonsense.

When you are broke........   April 23rd, 2008 6:13 pm ET

I guess when you have no money you have to get all the free air time you can...

hilarious. Wasn't she the one who avoided her NY opponenant when running for Senator. She is funny.

Chuck   April 23rd, 2008 6:13 pm ET

What kind of spin are you going to put to this SEN Clinton. I am curious, you are the spin queeen and billy is the spin king. Your both very good at distortion of fact, and lies.

So tell us your spin to this, I am waiting with baited breath. For sure you will try to spin this in such a way to make him look weak and unelectable. I am no longer sure who is worse, you and bill, or the media that plays your game for you.
Ahh what the heck, I dont like you. I dont like the sound of your voice, it grates on my nerves and I do not like your politics they are the worst in my history of voting. Too many lies, too many embillishments of the truth and distortions of fact.
I would not debate you either, and Personally I dont want to hear your voice in another debate. I already know what your going to say, and what you will say afterwards. Just dont want to hear any more from you.

jared   April 23rd, 2008 6:13 pm ET

I am offically over the Clintons. Get out of the race.

RR   April 23rd, 2008 6:13 pm ET

What for? We already know their positions....It doesn't matter if it's one-on-one or with eight people....

BabyObama   April 23rd, 2008 6:12 pm ET

Obama said words matter but doesn't like debate. Why?
Obama spent much more money for PA primary but lost. Why?
Obama gtes 90% of Black votes but not White nor Hispanic. Why?

gary   April 23rd, 2008 6:12 pm ET

OBAMA IS CHICKEN. HE KNOWS HRC WILL WIPE THE FLOOR WITH HIM. HE CANT LIE AND COVER IT UP IN FRONT OF MILLIONS OF PEOPLE. HE NEEDS A COUPLE OF DAYS TO PUT TOGETHER A SMOOTH SPEECH ,SO THE COUNTRY WILL PAT HIM ON THE HEAD. OBAMA IS LIKE MEL TILLIS IN A DEBATE. HE STUTTERS AND TALKS AROUND THE QUESTIONS. GO HRC.

The Truth   April 23rd, 2008 6:12 pm ET

I would not debat either especially if the debate is more like a interogation on irrelevant issues... the media does fine stirring up controversy by themselves

Blake, San Diego   April 23rd, 2008 6:12 pm ET

Given the amount of time between the Pennsylvania primary and the Indiana/North Carolina primaries I would say a debate probably wouldn't be the most efficient use of time. Although scheduled televised debates are the only way some people even learn about politics.

By now there is more than enough information available on the stances/policies of both candidates, but people need to actively pursue this information. We live in the information age, but you have to make some effort in digging it up.

If people would look beyond the controversies and criticisms and scour the issues, they would find that both candidates offer genuine plans for our nation's future.

Hillary was right when she said "although there are differences between Sen. Obama and myself, they pale in the differences between us and Sen. McCain."

Just do the research, educate yourself, and then make an informed decision.

Mandy, California   April 23rd, 2008 6:11 pm ET

No need for a debate. they never bring up issues, just garbage to talk about. So why bother!

If Hillary is so interested in having a debate, it makes one wonder who will be moderating and if they are a pro-Clinton ex-staff member!

Drew   April 23rd, 2008 6:11 pm ET

What can you possibly bring up that hasn't been discussed in the other 21 debates?

Donna   April 23rd, 2008 6:11 pm ET

Twenty-one debates is ENOUGH!.

Elana, Melbourne Florida   April 23rd, 2008 6:11 pm ET

For the last 15 months I have said that even though I was a die hard Obama supporter I would of course vote for Hillary in the general if it came to that. I want what is good for my country and my children. But since Ms. Clinton does not think that way, I will be voting for Nader in November if Ms. Clinton gets the nod. Attacking your own teammate so you can claw your way to the top is unappealing, macchiavellian and basically downright awful. I am so saddened by the turn this campaign has taken and so distraught that the lessons Ms. Clinton is teaching my daughter is not one of "every little girl can grow up to be president" It is that to get ahead you have to give up your soul, your integrity and your basic sense of decency. Good luck Ms. Clinton and one day you will be judged

E. loz Miami   April 23rd, 2008 6:10 pm ET

It's odd to see Obama have great speeches but cant do great in debates. example-Huugh, hugh, aamm.... It's like u want to shake him up!!

leicheco   April 23rd, 2008 6:10 pm ET

NO, please, I will have to see and hear HRC again, I am an OBAMA supporter and would like to see him, but she's there too. Right now I just mute the TV when I hear her, can't imagine if she gets elected I will never be able to hear the president speak. Wish she would just away......

Mike   April 23rd, 2008 6:10 pm ET

Mr. Obama sure does not have anything specific to say as he ran out of borrowed slogans hence no debate.

On a different note, I am really surprised to found out that 9 out of 10 African American voted for Sen. Obama in PA. These are the people complaing about recism. GO figure.

Also, I am definately against affirmative action for the post of the President of the United States.

Sean   April 23rd, 2008 6:10 pm ET

Of course Hillary wants more debates. She's struggling with money compared to Obama, so she wants all the free publicity she can get. Personally, I don't think there will be any more. There have already been 20+ of them, and Obama is better served by focusing on the voters in the remaining primary states, and on the upcoming battle with McCain rather than on nationally televised debates with Hillary Clinton.

J. McKinney   April 23rd, 2008 6:09 pm ET

I don't understand people who are saying Clinton is playing the "fear" card, etc. she is trying to tell it like it is, and save the US from an inexperienced "rock star" who has the 18 to 25 year olds "crying and trembling" while listening to his empty "hope and change" speeches.
Going back to my farm background, let me give you an example.
If you have a dangerous bull in your pasture, and you warn people to stay out of that pasture, is that "fear mongering" or is it trying to make a common sense statement that will keep them from being killed by the bull? And if you have a hot wood stove heating your house, and you tell your children to not touch the stove, it is hot and they will get burned, is that trying to put senseless fear into them, or it is trying to protect them?
Get your thinking caps on, people. Hillary is telling it like it is. Saying we need someone strong enough to handle the US and the mess we are in is not "fear mongering", it is truth. WE NEED HILLARY!!

Gilda   April 23rd, 2008 6:08 pm ET

That' s right Obama. Stop debating and start campaigning. Don't feed
into more of Hillary's traps.

Yes We can.

Grif   April 23rd, 2008 6:08 pm ET

Paris   April 23rd, 2008 6:08 pm ET

Smart, Obama is not very good on debates.
It is much easier to read from a teleprompter then have a debate.
And this is a difference Hillary is trying to highlight.
Valid point.

Chut Pata   April 23rd, 2008 6:08 pm ET

Dont fall for the trap Obama. Billary campaign has run out of money and the only way to remain on TV is thru debates which costs her no money.

Understand this and stay away.

Joe   April 23rd, 2008 6:08 pm ET

I heard him back out today on radio, he said he wants to talk to the people and talk about the solutions to gas prices and job loss and what he is going to do for them...so going on national tv and telling millions of people at once rather than a couple hundred at a time would somehow not do just that, or is it that he is scared they may actually make him defend his position and explain it. This does not bode well for us if this is our nominee.

Lonnie H.   April 23rd, 2008 6:08 pm ET

Why another debate? So the issues can once again be ignored and/or avoided? After 21, they become meaningless. Honestly, after 10 they became meaningless. And why does Hillary Clinton think she just shines during these debates? You can tell even more just how dishonest, and divisive she is during these debates.

Lonnie H.- Toledo, OH.

Farrell, Houston, Tx   April 23rd, 2008 6:07 pm ET

CLINTONS ARE LONGTIME WASHINGTON INSIDERS AND WILL SELL YOU OUT FOR THE PROMISES THEY MAKE. YOU NEED TO THINK ABOUT IT BEFORE YOU VOTE BECAUSE YOUR VOTE WILL NOT PROVE TO BE IN YOUR BEST INTERESTS.

Dori in AZ   April 23rd, 2008 6:07 pm ET

There's no such thing as a true and fair discussion – much less a debate!!! – on the issues with Hillary.

She isn't capable. If she were, she wouldn't lie, deflect, and stay off topic – then, whine and project that that's what her opponent is doing.

World leaders will mop the floor with her....

If she wants to debate, give her a compact mirror and send her off to the ladies' room for a powder! Have her take Chelsea with her.

Obama 2008!

James   April 23rd, 2008 6:06 pm ET

No more debates so Hillary would continue her lies on national TV.

Sallie Mae   April 23rd, 2008 6:06 pm ET

Some people (Hillabeans) just don't know when it's over! Another rigged debate is certainly NOT what this country needs. Give it up sister!!

OBAMA '08

real talk tee   April 23rd, 2008 6:06 pm ET

We are tired of the debates, lets use our time to start getting our party ready for the fight to get in the white house. Everyone is moving on except Hillary, please get out of the way all of this trying to bring Obama down to your level is not working, you have failed.

Red Dog from ND but now in Floida   April 23rd, 2008 6:06 pm ET

If they have moderators ythat are impartial and not asking loaded questions tto make billary seem like she is in control thwen Barak will slap her down like the little cry baby lnow nothing she is.

OJW   April 23rd, 2008 6:06 pm ET

Yea... and the Obama camp "should launch" a superdelagate watch...

Scott C   April 23rd, 2008 6:06 pm ET

I would agree with a debate as long as it is a substantive debate.

We can't send Obama into another debate like before Penn.

That was ridiculous... spent literally HALF the debate bringing up every single Obama negative... They brought up one of many Clinton negatives and only spent 26 seconds talking about it... and Obama defended her on it...

She pounced on him like she was the GOP candidate

Kevin   April 23rd, 2008 6:05 pm ET

Well when the questions are being hounded at you, and not your opponent. Why else would you want to be at a debate. And when a debate has nothing to do with issues, but personal attacks, why else would he want to debate. Hillary Clinton don't mind because she is the candidate on the other end of it. I would like to see a debate where she is hounded about her negative background? Her background is much worse then Obama's. The Republican machine though are not bringing this stuff up yet, they want her to win so they can destroy her. Destroy her they would.

Kevin

wisdom   April 23rd, 2008 6:05 pm ET

Chicken!

Ken   April 23rd, 2008 6:05 pm ET

Who is going to moderate the next debate? Terry McAuliffe and Gov. Randall? The last debate was the worst and hopefully the last debate we will see until the democrat nominee and the republican nominee trade words.

If Hillary wants advertising on the public airwave then she should have to pay for it like her opponent. We get it. She is a better debater (BS'r) than Barrack. However, I do not think she is what our country needs right now.

Get a clue. Bill has already had his run. Just because you elect a Clinton does not mean you will get another four to eight years of prosperty we had under Bill Clinton. That is the past. Barrack is the future.

Nicholas, CO   April 23rd, 2008 6:05 pm ET

Really? Senator Clinton, this is pathetic. I am ashamed of your entire campaign. Who cares about a "Obama Debate Watch?" She seems to be more content with playing silly 'gotcha' political games than running for the nomination. The bottom line: Obama Debate Watch, Rev. Wright, Sniper Bullets, or taking shots in a bar does nothing for the rising costs of gas, food, and the war in Iraq. Get on subject Senator Clinton or get off the campaign.

Ron, TX   April 23rd, 2008 6:04 pm ET

I'd hardly call that Karl-Rove-esque Gotcha Contest a "debate"...

Ed, Fl   April 23rd, 2008 6:04 pm ET

Clinton, Your time is counted. N.C & Indinna are the finnished line. After that you have got to go because you are destroying the Democratic party. If you persist you will loose your NY senate seat.

Erik   April 23rd, 2008 6:04 pm ET

Enough debates. We know exactly what both candidates are going to say.

The Clinton Camp should instead launch the "American Voters who Grow Weary of Democratic Party Infighting and Instead Plan to Vote for an Honored Has-been Watch."

Maybe this time, Howard Wolfson can be a moderator. How about Jim Carville?

christi   April 23rd, 2008 6:03 pm ET

I think he should debate her. Now that all the "flag pin" flap is out of the way, maybe this time he'll debate her based on ideas.

And maybe someone could ask her what she meant by "USA blanket of security over the Middle East" and "obliterating Iran"????????????

Dirty Dirty South   April 23rd, 2008 6:02 pm ET

CORRECTION: DAY 22
This will make it the 22nd debate! GET IT RIGHT!!

Lightning   April 23rd, 2008 6:02 pm ET

Maybe we can get some unbiased moderators. That ABC debate was the biggest load of garbage I've ever seen.

hillary is awesome   April 23rd, 2008 6:02 pm ET

you can take jabs at hillary all you want. The REP have already started attacking Obama. Hillary's race looks clean compared to what Obama has to come. So he should be thanking Clinton for showing him what its like to have to fight for something you want.

Bernie Moore-Knowles   April 23rd, 2008 6:00 pm ET

Run and hide is the name of the game.
This is an election and we want to hear more find out more about you.

Yes we can!   April 23rd, 2008 5:59 pm ET

Another Debate or another Attack...no one will be disappointed if there's not another debate....i dont have 45 minutes to wastes on non-issues.....who care's about flagpins or who's your pastor or the bitter comments, which by the way depending on who you're talking to, those comments can go either way.....that last debate, he should have took his microphone off and walked off the stage and said "when you're ready to talk about the issues" give me a call.....if you want to beat Obama, than beat him on the issues, because he's already showed great character, strength, courage and yes HOPE!!!!!....polls show people are over the controversies....you want to keep bringing them up because that's all you have to hang on to...he will win NC by 15% and Indiana it's up to you to shut this thing down and do what PA couldn't so we can concentrate on the general election and having the best candidate in the white house Barak Obama!

Patrick   April 23rd, 2008 5:59 pm ET

Why didn't Hillary agree to the earlier NC debate? Hmm? This is a stupid issue. No one wants another "gotcha" debate. Maybe Hill and Bill should go play "gotcha" together back in Arkansas where they belong.

mark   April 23rd, 2008 5:59 pm ET

Hillary Clinton literally makes me feel physically ill! She is so fake and dishonest...her approval ratings are almost as low as Bush's nationwide...she is not the right candidate to win in November...

Sue   April 23rd, 2008 5:59 pm ET

The ABC debate was a hit job on Obama. No more debates.

Go OBAMA !!!!

Sharon   April 23rd, 2008 5:58 pm ET

How many debates do you want Hillary? Just so you can spew some more lies?

You're pathetic.

Blake   April 23rd, 2008 5:58 pm ET

MOMENT OF TRUTH appeareance would be great Hilary. It would be up there with the women who lied about thinking that she was a good person. That would be entertainment and enlightenment.

Cindy in California   April 23rd, 2008 5:58 pm ET

This is another pitiful attempt on the part of the Clintons to smear Obama. If they truly want a debate why are they being so rude as to get the media involved. When she turned him down for a debate he did not get the media involved and try to smear her. She does not know how to take the high road.

Jonathan W Smith   April 23rd, 2008 5:57 pm ET

The next debate I want to see is the OBAMA – MCCAIN debate!!

Obama '08

James   April 23rd, 2008 5:57 pm ET

Go to the ABC website and see who the viewers said won the debate. It's three to one in favor of Obama.

Maybe you're correcting for the three to one ganging up on him at the debate. Really, is there any media event lately that doesn't feature an ex-Clinton press secretary or lawyer as analyst?

Ray in JAX   April 23rd, 2008 5:57 pm ET

Soupy   April 23rd, 2008 5:56 pm ET

Yeah, and Obama won all the other debates. He's been saying "enough debates" for months now. Give it a rest.

Ladyleo   April 23rd, 2008 5:55 pm ET

We are sick of the debates? and I hope Obama says NO.

Grif   April 23rd, 2008 5:54 pm ET

JD   April 23rd, 2008 5:53 pm ET

21 isn't enough?

I guess it's not, when you can't raise a quarter of the money your opponent can. You need all the free media you can get.
