Clinton camp launches Obama 'Debate Watch'

(CNN) – Hillary Clinton’s campaign has increased its efforts to pressure Barack Obama to agree to more debates.

On Wednesday, they sent reporters a press release titled “Debate Watch: Day 1,” as part of their continuing effort to focus attention on Obama’s reluctance to schedule more primary season showdowns.

During a rally in Hillsborough, North Carolina Wednesday afternoon, former President Bill Clinton, standing on the back of a pick-up truck, told voters: “I think I know the answer to why one candidate wants to debate, ‘cuz I saw the debate in Pennsylvania. And afterwards, 41 percent of the voters saw it. And by 55 to 22, they said Hillary won.”

Earlier this week, a proposed North Carolina debate was cancelled after Obama’s team said the Illinois senator would not be able to find time in his schedule.

“It's not clear that another debate is going to be the best use of our time,” Obama told CNN’s Roland Martin Wednesday.

The Obama campaign says that the candidates have met in more than 20 primary season debates. But the Clinton camp counters that only four of those meetings have been one-on-one.

“Hoosiers are going to be disappointed if [the debate] doesn’t happen,” said Sen. Evan Bayh, a Clinton supporter. Clinton herself told an Indiana crowd that "some people" think the voters are tired of debates but she disagrees.

Hillary Clinton was widely viewed as having a stronger performance at last week’s debate than Obama, which her campaign said contributed to her success with late-deciding voters.

Both North Carolina and Indiana vote May 6.

First, the PA debate was a complete travesty. When you see how that was handled by ABC, no wonder Obama doesn't want another one. It was a complete waste of his time debating and my time watching them ask 50 straight minutes of questions with no substance.

Second, I know why one candidate wants a 22nd debate – BECAUSE SHE'S OUT OF MONEY AND CAN'T AFFORD ADVERTISING!

Lastly, do we really need a debate to give this mathematically challenged campaign more of a chance to help McCain's bid in November?

There have been over 20 debates and if you are interested in their positions on different issues, you can just look on-line (as Hillary pointed out in the last "debate."They have "debated" enough, it's gotten ridiculous. This last "debate" was nothing more than a giant fiasco to intimidate Obama and give Hillary soft questions. George and Charlie, obviously favored Hillary, and so it was a complete waste of time to watch.....unless you were a hillary fan.

I'd never "debate" her again if I were Obama. Let her debate someone else if she's so hot to do so. Obama needs to campaign and get to know more people. Everyone already knows Hillary and all her 2,500 negatives.....no need to get to know her any better. PLEASE!

Obama will be a fool to accept any more debate from this woman. Barak said he has a problem with older voters. No Barak, you have a problem with everyone because you won't fight aggressively with Hillary. Your supporters are getting tired of your DO NOTHING CAMPAIGN STRATEGY. There are many ways you could fight back. Hillary is looking stronger everyday, and Barak is getting weaker to the eyes of voters. Go home if you won't take your opponent down.

The only reason Bill Clinton would be standing in a pickup truck would be to try to pick up a date for the evening.

Seriously, they have debated 20+ times. What good is another debate going to have? We already know more about these two and their plans than probably any other primary candidates in the history of this country. Plus I have to agree with Sen Obama, during the last debate they spent almost an hour talking about "he said/she said" stuff. If that is what the debates are going to be about, then NO we do not need anymore of them.

Wow... How flipping pathetic! If they can only win by using this strategy is ridiculous! Who really cares about another debate! It will not shed any new light.
Every time I heard comments from President Clinton, I start to like him less! I am so FREAKIN SICK OF THE 2 ON 1 CRAP! PEOPLE NEED TO BE REAL AND STOP VOTING FOR HILLARY BASED ON HER HUSBAND'S TRACK RECORD BECAUSE THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT MAIN SENIORS ARE DOING!

Note to Obama, don't fall for this latest BS. Keep campaigning and don't let them throw you out of your element!

Barry – Just like in Boxing – you're not going to get a knockout cause you just don't have a knockout punch. However, you are ahead in points and it's the 10th round with 2 more big ones to go. Best for you to just bob and weave and whatever you do, don't get in the way of HRC's big right hand punch or sucker punch.

In the end, you'll win and not to many people will see you as a wimp cause you couldn't knock her out.

On the other hand, you had better go into some serious training cause John is liable to knock your lights out. He may be old but he has a lot of old fans that you don't have and your teeny boppers have already spent their allowance.

No more debates, enough already. Mr. Obama, don't get caught up in the Clintonian spin, they reeled you in-in Pennsylvania. Don't get caught up in their games. Stay on message, we are listening.

After ABC handed the debate win to Clinton by picking on you, I think America has had enough of the media handling this election.

I made my donation last night. Good luck!

Clinton and her husband can go jump in a lake..I'm disgusted with the both of them and everyone who supports her lying behind. We don't need anymore *debates* to know where she stands...she will say ANYTHING to win.....the Clintons are the reason I am no longer a registered Democrat. I will NEVER vote for her or abortion rights. If she steals this nomination I will vote McCain.

Clinton just wants the free air time. There is nothing she could say (or that he could say either) that couldn't have been said on the 20 or so debates that preceded this one. Her plea is laughably transparent.

People, there have not been that many debates with just the two of them. If we could get some real questions about substantive issues that people REALLY care about rather than flag pins and who pardoned whom, then I would LOVE to see another debate.

Obama, don't run from this, get some legitimate news people in there and let's have a debate about issues. This is what the American people want.

What about having the league of woman voters run it like they did in the past.

Obama is afraid of debates because he knows that with the debates everybody sees for which point he is not ready for the white house this year. He will have his luck in the next years. GO HILLARY 08!!!!

I can see that Obama's team can't stand the heat!!! Remember there have been 21 debates, but only 3 with Hillary and Barack alone. All the rest had other potential candidates.

What are all of you scared of? Hope this isn't what the future holds, when things get tough, refuse to address the issues, refuse to come up to the plate, but have a speech about hope.

I hope HOPE will carry the country for 4 years if Obama wins, because he sure doesn't have the spine for anything harsh coming his way.

to Hillary is awesome – are you serious? The Rep. are holding back on Hillary – the person they want to run against – they have a ton load on her as everyone who has followed politics knows. They are just trying out the kitchen sink routine on Obama to see what might work in case they have to run against him. Come on fellow Americans – think – don't just react. You are so stuck on a particular candidate you can see what is right in front of you.
