Obama held a press conference with reporters Wednesday.

NEW ALBANY, Indiana (CNN) – Facing reporters for the first time since his loss in the Pennsylvania primary, Democrat Barack Obama said he "doesn't really understand" Hillary Clinton's attack line that he "can't stand the heat."

"This is sort of the kitchen sink strategy, and the argument about not being able to stand the heat — that I don't really understand," Obama said, responding to a question on recent attacks aimed at him.

He went on to turn the argument on them.

"Nobody has complained more about the press, about questions at debates, about being mistreated than Sen. Clinton has, or President Clinton," he said.

"We have been pretty tame in terms of taking our shots and just rolling with them."

WHO did you say has complained most????

Lisa   April 23rd, 2008 4:32 pm ET

This is true !

The Clinton's are pure whiners.

Pat   April 23rd, 2008 4:33 pm ET

Obama is absolutely right- the Clintons are the ones who complain all the time, and they often use the gender card (to no avail).

Remember after one debate last year they said the "boys" were "piling on"?

Then they complain about the caucus system AFTER she loses them- even though caucuses have been around for decades and the Clintons never used their years of power to do anything to stop them.

The Clintons are very bitter, desperate and unpleasant people. Mr. Clinton even swore during a public radio interview this week. They are not good role models for our children.

Angus McDugan   April 23rd, 2008 4:33 pm ET

Queen Hillary is steaming because Obama is standing in the way of her coronation. She believe this is her election and it was to be handed to her on a sliver platter by her minions.

J T   April 23rd, 2008 4:34 pm ET

absolutely no doubt about that

Dale Wise   April 23rd, 2008 4:35 pm ET

The same type of honest, straightforward, clear answer that Obama has had in response to all the nonsense this entire race. And it will probably be twisted and spun by the media as usual. Hopefully, people will continue to see through the media's lies as they have been throughout the race.

Kris in PA   April 23rd, 2008 4:36 pm ET

Whiner.

v.ananthan   April 23rd, 2008 4:37 pm ET

Why was Obama hiding from reporters for some days???

Bukky   April 23rd, 2008 4:38 pm ET

Ummm SHE FREAKIN CRIED… TWICE!!!!!

I am all for a woman in power but NO you cant cry

momma obama   April 23rd, 2008 4:38 pm ET

that is true, but the media is so biased that they will not dare to say anything about the clintons,

look they already buried what bill said the night before .including his out of context words
they forgot Bosnia
they forgot 'the girl without helathcare, "
Colombia
Nafta
Canada
affairs
all the corruption going on still to this day
their funding sources including Osama BIn Laden's country and relatives..

oh boy CNN is in love infatuated with billary and so is ABC< FOX< and all the networks. it is so pathetic………………

Sick of This   April 23rd, 2008 4:39 pm ET

Who is he trying to kid?!? He's been whinning from day one!

Denis   April 23rd, 2008 4:39 pm ET

Except you Obama ! Da. And of course you never funded negative advertisements did you ??? Of course not — liar!

Makeshift   April 23rd, 2008 4:39 pm ET

Agreed.

Shes a liar and a hypocrite. You should just come out and say it plain like that Obama.

rough neck   April 23rd, 2008 4:40 pm ET

maybe too tamed. let's rough it up now.

A. Harrison   April 23rd, 2008 4:40 pm ET

Give me a break. You complained and it's on record mind you the day after the ABC debate. You can't take the heat. STOP Pulling the Clintons into your issues. This strategy is what you've been doing all along, blaming your issues or painting your issues on Hillary but it won't last any longer.

A true competitor and one who is really ready for the Whitehouse would be able to withstand the "attacks". Take heed to what Hillary has said about being in the White House for 8 years. Good times, bad times, are you really ready?

The Truth   April 23rd, 2008 4:40 pm ET

Finally he says the truth. Clinton complained about the media for months, and when Obama says the questions could have been more substantive, all of a sudden he whines and can't take the heat?

Just because he wanted real questions with real solutions to be asked instead of useless questions about slime tactics on the internet doesn't mean he all of a sudden can't take the heat.

Illinois   April 23rd, 2008 4:41 pm ET

Uh, oh. Here he goes again. Spin, spin, spin. It's like being in a laundry machine. He still doesn't get it. As much as he and his supporters complain that Hillary can't "see the writing on the wall and should drop out", he can't seem to see the writing on the wall that just because he won a bunch of caucas states doesn't mean he's qualified to be the nominee. He can't even win a single big state, no matter how much money he throws into it. I mean, really, does anyone here think that Georgia or Wyoming is going to go blue in November???? Obama people are stupid.

As far as Hillary complaining about the press, she should. She has certainly earned that right,, considering how awful the press and the Obama campaign has been to her. The press has done nothing but try to completely undermine and sabotage her campaign for the presidency ever since she decided to run for the office. Obama was finally cross examined during ONE single debate and people lost their minds, calling/emailing ABC telling them they were "unfair" and racist and god knows what else because they had the audacity to challenge Barack on pertinent issues. Who's the one who's actually doing the complaining????

Grif   April 23rd, 2008 4:41 pm ET

This Blog is You're's, ???? What would you call this???

Zoe   April 23rd, 2008 4:41 pm ET

Hilliary needs the heat, because she has no diplomatic skills and little integrity. She seems to think becoming vicious and dishonorable, is taking the heat….when they are the tactics of someone who has nothing else in their personal arsenal.

I want more from my President thank you very much….its time for a statesmen and one that has world experience beyond photo ops
for her husband. Bill and Hilliary are both disingenuous at best.

CLINTON GOT ONE THING RIGHT, WHEN SHE WAS ASKED IF OBAMA WERE ELECTABLE…AND SHE ANSWERED, ..YES…YES…
YES!

Sugar ~n~ Spice   April 23rd, 2008 4:42 pm ET

WOW!!! talk about bitter!! Seems like Obama holds on to finger pointing when he is bitter about loosing. You Obama have done some whining yourself so please SHUT UP!!!!

Gorbashov, Long Beach, Ca.   April 23rd, 2008 4:42 pm ET

Clinton is a Washington insider who talks in Washington doublespeak!

Senator Clinton you CAN'T win! Please, stop tearing my party apart and drop out!

JT   April 23rd, 2008 4:43 pm ET

When she lost, the Cried for sympathy.

When she was grilled in debates, she complained about bias.

She points fingers all day…

How is she going to run this country when she ran a failing campaign "on day one"?

MJB - Decatur, GA   April 23rd, 2008 4:44 pm ET

Exactly. Barack steady. The country is with you!!!!!

Garlin Vidal of Memphis, TN   April 23rd, 2008 4:46 pm ET

You are so right Mr. Obama…

I don't quite understand how people equate Hillary as being more experienced than Obama. So, in so many words Bill only worked on scandals while Hillary took care of the PEOPLE's day-to-day business. What does she actually have experience in other than lying like most politicians do? I like Barack because I believe he is for ALL PEOPLE and not just some or those of SPECIAL INTEREST.

And those that question his readiness and ability to lead this GREAT COUNTRY are those I consider to be BAND WAGON riders. If he won the presidency and was in his second year in office and brought forth the things and issues in which he campaigned for and produced where he said he would produce… I really wonder how many Clinton supporters would lie like the one they supported and say they really voted for Obama after they saw his works? I do believe there would be PLENTY… and to that notion how would you know what Sen. Obama could or could not do if you don't give him the chance to prove the simple minded wrong?

And also, what has any PRESIDENT in our NATION's history done for the PEOPLE (white, blacks, asians, latinos and any other nationality that makes up this country) on the same level of EQUALITY? NOTHING! A lot of people still sing the praises of certain presidents but let the truth be told they only worked for a few… sprinkled out across the nation. This Presidential candidate (Barack Obama) plans and WILL work for a better TOMORROW for all humanity.

EQUALITY? A simple solution for today's tomorrow!

INDIA CALIFORNIA FOR BARACK OBAMA   April 23rd, 2008 4:47 pm ET

Hillary simply cannot tell the truth. Here’s her scorecard:
Admitted Lies
• Chelsea was jogging around the Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001. (She was in bed watching it on TV.)
• Hillary was named after Sir Edmund Hillary. (She admitted she was wrong. He climbed Mt. Everest five years after her birth.)
• She was under sniper fire in Bosnia. (A girl presented her with flowers at the foot of the ramp.)
• She learned in The Wall Street Journal how to make a killing in the futures market. (It didn’t cover the market back then.)
Whoppers She Won’t Confess To
• She didn’t know about the FALN pardons.
• She didn’t know that her brothers were being paid to get pardons that Clinton granted.
• Taking the White House gifts was a clerical error.
• She didn’t know that her staff would fire the travel office staff after she told them to do so.
• She didn’t know that the Peter Paul fundraiser in Hollywood in 2000 cost $700,000 more than she reported it had.
• She opposed NAFTA at the time.
• She was instrumental in the Irish peace process.
• She urged Bill to intervene in Rwanda.
• She played a role in the ’90s economic recovery.
• The billing records showed up on their own.
• She thought Bill was innocent when the Monica scandal broke.
• She was always a Yankees fan.
• She had nothing to do with the New Square Hasidic pardons (after they voted for her 1,400-12 and she attended a meeting at the White House about the pardons).
• She negotiated for the release of refugees in Macedonia (who were released the day before she got there).
With a record like that, is it any wonder that we suspect her of being less than honest and straightforward?

Ross in MD   April 23rd, 2008 4:47 pm ET

There's nothing to understand - Clintons will say or do anything to get elected.

theresa   April 23rd, 2008 4:48 pm ET

He's right. They came out complaining long before now. Hillary needs to sit her old 60 year old body down. AND WEAR IS HER SKIRT OUTFITS. OH SHE'S A LESBIAN. MY BAD.

Sharon   April 23rd, 2008 4:49 pm ET

OMG the Clinton's make me sick with as much complaining as they do. Thay have to always blame other people.

Bit, Alabama   April 23rd, 2008 4:50 pm ET

Obama-

Just run a non-attack campaign the way you begin in the past and keep focusing on the main issues that we the people are interested in. Our party is divided and the people need someone to balance it out without the attacks. I know it's hard not to go on the attact as it was in the remaining days of the PA primary. But keep the "change & hope" alive and stay focused on the issues.

Real Change   April 23rd, 2008 4:51 pm ET

THANK YOU!

Now can the media please start covering this right way please!

The Clintons ability to alter reality is amazing.

fred   April 23rd, 2008 4:51 pm ET

John, PA   April 23rd, 2008 4:51 pm ET

'Cause the MSM has been in the tank for you. As have the debate moderators.

David; Richmond,VA   April 23rd, 2008 4:52 pm ET

Very True. But of course all the Hillary supporters are going to get fussy because you said that…

haha… Complaining about the complaint record. Let's see it.

RealityKing   April 23rd, 2008 4:54 pm ET

And what about all that complaining after the ABC debate???

Obviously Obama is counting on the corrupt media covering FOR his campaign yet again…

Ratgurl   April 23rd, 2008 4:54 pm ET

… and Barack is handling himself quite well! I find it hard to believe that the election process hasn't been corrupted.

jeremy   April 23rd, 2008 4:54 pm ET

they cant take the heat, cause when the heat is on Bill explodes and Hillary Cries! Yes THEY won PA but it must be nice to ride on the coat tails of your husband, cause thats what people know is Bill Clinton, I know that Indiana, North carolina and the remaining primaries will get it right, and get Barack and the Democratic party to where they need to be!

sue   April 23rd, 2008 4:55 pm ET

absolutely correct.

she complained live on national tv more than once!

She is a liar!

Jan in Virginia   April 23rd, 2008 4:55 pm ET

Maybe that's because until just recently, you hadn't really gotten many shots Barack!

I think the Clintons have pretty reserved. They have directly addressed what has been so obvious to many of us - unfair media bias - on a couple of occasions but not to a point that I would consider whining. Dan Abrams was the first reporter who I saw that raised the issue abbout media bias over a month ago - long before the rest of the media took note of what they were doing and before the SNL and Daily show parodys of it.

But in all fairness to Obama, it's finally changed and I see more of an equal bashing vs. one-sided.

Now is that a good thing? Not necessarily. I would much prefer to see the media concentrate on both of the candidates strengths and not their weaknesses but that's a pipe-dream and doesn't make news!

Anthony 02   April 23rd, 2008 4:55 pm ET

Hillary Clinton is a baby. She can dish it out but just can not take it.

Mike   April 23rd, 2008 4:56 pm ET

THANK YOU!!! I AM SOOOOO GLAD YOU SEE IT…..
THEY SCREAM
"THEY ARE ATTACKING ME BECAUSE I AM A WOMAN"
BECAUSE I AM LOSING
BECAUSE I AM OLD
BECAUSE I AM A LIAR,
BECAUSE I MIS-SPOKE AT 11PM AT NIGHT (WHEN IT WAS ACTUALLY 2 IN THE AFTERNOON)

SHE WON PENN….GOOD, BUT UH….SHE REALLY NEEDS TO CATCH UP. YOUR NOT FIT TO BE PRESIDENT IF YOU CAN ONLY KEEP UP WITH THE COMPETITION : )

OBAMA 08

AND I ALREADY KNOW IF SHE DOES GET THE NOMINATION THEN ALMOST HALF OF OBAMA SUPPORTERS WILL GO TO MCCAIN OR NADER SO NEITHER DEMOCRAT WILL WIN THE ELECTION

An Agnostic Democrat   April 23rd, 2008 4:56 pm ET

Yes, but that would mean Hill and Bill would have to progress out of training pants and put on their big girl and big boy underwear. I don't see that happening anytime soon. They both have acted like nursery school miscreants that keep wetting themselves and lying about everything on tape or film.

Kevin   April 23rd, 2008 4:56 pm ET

"seems to me like I'm always getting the first question…" HRC whine whine whine. "Beating up on a girl," WJC…whine whine what an appeal to emotions.

Dustin   April 23rd, 2008 4:57 pm ET

Right on. Clinton has complained from day one that the media was too hard on her, and almost suddenly it seems that it shifted. It's either a shameful act by the media by listening to Clinton and shifting the spot light on Obama exclusively, or it is true that the front runner simply gets all of the heat.

That being said, Obama has rarely compained of late, and never to the level that Clinton did. The Clinton's are simply trying to ruin his character, and it seems to be sticking. I love how the Clinton camp asks how come Obama can't close the deal yesterday, and then CNN runs an exact same blog response today.

The thing is that Obama supporters are the crying babies that many of the Clinton supporters come across as, because like our man, we know that the business as usual approach is what is killing this country, and a Bush-Clinton-Bush-Clinton monopoly of the White House is not the answer.

Apaul   April 23rd, 2008 4:57 pm ET

Amen, now let's get back to helping the American people.

Susan MO   April 23rd, 2008 4:57 pm ET

Obama has no one to blame but himself. He need to knock her out in N.C and Indiana and stop this MADNESS.

I know it hard for a black man to hit hard at a white woman, but we are giving you permission to knock her out.

The tide is turning for Hillary … Oh no it’s a Tsunami to wash her away.

Go away Hillary!!! You will not have Rendell and Strickland in N.C and Indiana. What will you do?

Barack Obama 08

Carol   April 23rd, 2008 4:59 pm ET

Obama hasn't had to complain about the way he has been treated by the press and the media because he has become the Teflon candidate. The media treats him with kid gloves. If someone does happen to stray a bit, his campaign immediately labels the comments (or whatever) as being racial. Even Neil Bortz, who I really don't like, said on the air that anything he said about Obama would get the racist label if it wasn't complimentary of Obama. Well, this is one Hillary supporter (I think there are others) who will either vote for McCain or stay home in November in protest if Obama is the Democratic nominee. It really is a shame because I have waited (not too patiently) to see a Democrat in the White House again. But there won't be one in this election. McCain will sweep the floor up with Obama. And not just because of people like me who refuse to allow the media to dictate who we must vote for. McCain will win because Obama is unelectable. Hillary may be, too. But, at least, she has a shot at beating McCain. All these 'red' states that Obama has won in the primary don't mean a thing - they will vote Republican in November and the swing states will vote Republican, as well. Sometimes we get what we wished for - this time the Democratic Party has done just that. And the party should learn from this debacle - don't disenfranchise your voters or allow others to disenfranchise them. And I don't mean just Michigan and Florida. I also mean people like me. The media and the Democratic Party leadership are responsible for this mess. And the reward will be yet another Republican in the White House for another 4 or 8 years.

Lee WV   April 23rd, 2008 4:59 pm ET

Obama has had to stand the heat since Hillary opened ths kitchen sink strategy, remember after he won the 12 states in a row,Hillary complained that the media was picking on poor little her.

American Girl   April 23rd, 2008 5:00 pm ET

So true —–

Hillary - tears "I love this country"
Hillary - Why are they always picking on me
Why do I get the tough questions and have to go first… maybe becasue you won't be quiet and you always interupt.

You kow their is something to said about silence sometimes. She just goes on and on and says anything., When people won't stop talking they are lying and will say things they do not remember.

Hillary you fo complain..

OBAMA '08

Just Thinkng   April 23rd, 2008 5:00 pm ET

I agree. Remember the pillow comment in the debate!

Derrick   April 23rd, 2008 5:00 pm ET

More negativity coming from the Obama camp.

Hey Obama, DO YOU WANT TO CHEESE TO GO WITH THAT WHINE?!

Hillary 08′ 12′

Wayne   April 23rd, 2008 5:00 pm ET

oh please. Obama whines and whines and whines. He complained and complained about the last debate. He got his head handed to him, and now he's running scared and is refusing to debate Clinton in N. Carolina or Indiana. He is a coward and a complainer.

Fella from Chicago   April 23rd, 2008 5:01 pm ET

Barack, are you whinning or just beginning to sniffle like a baby? You know, I don't think you can take the heat. Love him or hate him, agree or disagree with him, President George W.makes decisons as a man (right or wrong). I don't think you can do the same without looking for someone to blame. Not good. Hmmm. No substance?

Greg   April 23rd, 2008 5:01 pm ET

He needs to just stop playing her game.

All he has to do is remain positive, allow her and her surrogates to slosh about in the mud, and let the thing run its course.

This nomination is over regardless of what Team Clinton or some members of the media (who obviously have an agenda in keeping this thing going as long as possible) have to say about it.

There is no way she can win the Democratic nomination without, in the process, destroying the Democratic party for years to come.

The superdelegates are well aware of this fact.

Independent   April 23rd, 2008 5:01 pm ET

So true. Maybe you should ask Hillary if SHE needs another pillow!!

Jesse - San Antonio TX   April 23rd, 2008 5:01 pm ET

Of course not because your camp has been getting a free ride from the press and debates prior to the ABC Debate.

Now amplify that by a hundred and you will crumble against John McCain.

HSNP   April 23rd, 2008 5:02 pm ET

Drop out, Barack!!!

Adam   April 23rd, 2008 5:02 pm ET

How true ~ it seems to me that the Clinton machine has two gears: Cry/whine and Attack.
It is sad when you think about it. She thought that there was a "vast right-wing" conspiracy in the 90's, but it turned out it was just her husband cheating on her with younger women. She has had so much emotional damage that she can't be trusted to run a Wal-mart, let alone the US of A.

Ardnuas   April 23rd, 2008 5:02 pm ET

please Obama, show us Americans what we are so staved for!!!!!!!

OBAMA 08!!!!!!!!!!!!

CO Ted   April 23rd, 2008 5:04 pm ET

It's true, Hillary has been the big complainer. heck, she even "cried" after she lost Iowa. But it's all pots calling the kettles black. No pun intended.

Drew   April 23rd, 2008 5:04 pm ET

Who was the one who invoked Saturday NIght Live at the start of a debate to complain on unfair treatment by the press? Give you a clue, it's not the candidate with the most delegates right now.

shirley   April 23rd, 2008 5:05 pm ET

Senator Obama is right, Hillary has claimed 'bias' of news media, 'picking on a woman' and 'negative campaigning' when asked to be accountable. Hillary has used gender, race and religion to garner votes and run a very nasty 'kitchen sink' campaign. Her recent 9/11 ad was disgraceful, I don't think American's will fall for Bush's 'fear factor' campaigning again .

Mary - PA   April 23rd, 2008 5:05 pm ET

You got that right Barack! The Clintons are hipocrites!

aughhhh   April 23rd, 2008 5:05 pm ET

Clinton is destroying the democratic party with her attacks on Obama. If she were an honorable, responsible person, she would stop. It doesn't matter how much of a fighter you are if you are fighting for a lost cause. You have too much baggage coming with you, Hillary, and to have to have it thrown in our face every day is not for the best interest of the people. You are married to someone who lied before Congress. That says a lot about you. The American people have had enough of the Clintons. Let the healing begin.

Will   April 23rd, 2008 5:05 pm ET

What Obama could have done to attack Clinton:

-Bring up the trail she and her husband are set to go to involving Peter Paul
-All the Drug dealers and weahtermen Clinton Pardoned
- The nuclear technology sold to North Korea and China thanks to Bill
- Bosnia swaps (only media brings it up)
- Her inconsistant stances of ever policy and issue she stands for
- The amount of % of people who do not trust her
- Accusing Obama for what she has done.

Niky   April 23rd, 2008 5:05 pm ET

Obama… we need to somehow prove that nice guys don't finish last. We cannot get into the kitchen-sink strategy coz like CLintons, we don't have to prove that the opponent is weak, we want to demonstrate that WE are strong!

Thanks for running a respectable campaign… Go Obama!

Dennis   April 23rd, 2008 5:05 pm ET

I agree with Senator Obama, and I'm glad he said that. It was Clinton that balked at her treatment during the Texas debate. It was Clinton that help up the SNL skit as evidence that she wasn't treated fairly. It was both the Clintons that have complained about the way their remarks regarding race were interpreted. Obama's complaints are very tame by comparison.

mike,Iowa   April 23rd, 2008 5:05 pm ET

Exactly! and if people are too manipulated to see that then thanks for being a part of the problem with our country. We will never get anything done fighting with each other. At least Obama can brush his shoulders off and move on the McClintons who are acting more like republicans then McCain are doing there part to make this race worse for the DNC and for the General election all together. The more we fight and complain the worse it will be for whoever wins the democratic nomination.

Eric-PA   April 23rd, 2008 5:06 pm ET

Oh please! Hillary complained one time after 4 months of daily media bias against her. You have one bad night at a debate and you whine like a little baby. You haven't been tame at all. Give it up!

Jon in Atlanta   April 23rd, 2008 5:06 pm ET

We really have a chance to turn around our bad rep with the world. We have a chance to better our country. We have a chance at a leader that wont lie to us.

We have a chance to bring people of different creeds, and colors together.

We have ONE person who would do this for us. But we bash him drag him into the muckraking. If you do not support Barack for President then you just might be evil.

I'm pretty much positive cnn wont post this, but its non offensive. I have seen very questionable even racist posts on these boards..So @cnn please let my harmless comment/opinion through.

Will   April 23rd, 2008 5:06 pm ET

He doesn't attack her on hardly all the scandals he could touch on.

She goes for everything she can against Obama even things she promises she will not.

SLO Bear   April 23rd, 2008 5:06 pm ET

The Clintons should be deeply ashamed of themselves, as should the superdelegates for not showing more courage in protecting the party, and therefore Democrats' families and our country, from the potentially tragic price of the Clintons' amoral selfishness.

Vince Los Angeles, CA   April 23rd, 2008 5:06 pm ET

AMEN!!! It's time we start pointing out ALL of the Clinton lies…..

CM   April 23rd, 2008 5:06 pm ET

Thank you!

Fitz   April 23rd, 2008 5:06 pm ET

Senator Obama is 100% right. Do you remember a speech Bill Clinton gave about the GOP using an Ad with Bin Laden to smear a democrat who had lost his limbs in the military and how he was so upset about that. How dare they? Then his wife turns around and does the same thing to Barack Obama. The 1st democrat ( I think) to use bin Laden in an attack AD. People just won't open their eyes and see Hillary for what she actually is. She is against Nafta and Cafta and jobs being sent overseas………….but Bill honey, why don't you go and deposit that $800K you just made from them.

They are married, it's THEIR money.

LOL!! Whatever, dude!

Bayou Joe   April 23rd, 2008 5:07 pm ET

Personally, I do not have any problem with Hillary. As I understand "personality disorders," she strongly believes that "there is nothing wrong with her." I work with these kinds of folks everyday— they abuse their spouses and blame their spouses for all the problems in the relationship.

My problem is with those who "fail" to see or recognize the psychopathology (a mental health issue) in this family! They continue to support the Clintons, totally blind to their "history" in this nation. Or probably blinded by wealth or the "image of a "fighter" and not a "peace-maker." God bless us all!!

kayln   April 23rd, 2008 5:07 pm ET

Obama…please STAY POSITIVE

Don't act like Hillary

Stay positive …you are our nominee..even if she tries to steal your nomination- media will not let that happen..PERIOD

Eye Opener - Las Vegas   April 23rd, 2008 5:08 pm ET

Well, Senator, maybe it's because the media has treated you with kid gloves right from the get-go. Or perhaps, it's because everyone is cautious and wary of being branded a "RACIST" everytime they question you and challenge your campaign. Or maybe, it's because people do not know a lot of things about you.

You can't have your cake and eat it too and this political exercise between you and Senator Clinton is nothing compared to what's going to be thrown at you if ever you become the democratic nominee.

The Clintons have a lot to complain about, and your turn is yet to come.

Vanessa   April 23rd, 2008 5:08 pm ET

Amen!!! Keep it coming Barack!! You don't have to stoop to her level just point out the facts and expose the lies of the Clintons!!

Capt. Smash, Salt Lake City, Utah   April 23rd, 2008 5:08 pm ET

ATTENTION ALL DEMOCRATS: Everyone needs to realize the Democratic Party belongs to the Bill and Hillary Clinton. Stop fighting they can do and say what ever they want and when they want. They can change the rules when it’s necessary, they can lie, cheat, steal and commit election fraud as long as they are alive and in control. I repeat the Democratic Party belongs to them and know one I mean know one can stop them.

Nobody has power or strength to stop them nobody. All other democrats have to do what they say when they say. The journalism in this country is horrible they are paid for and bought by the Clintons and the GOP. The media tells you how to vote and why you should vote a certain way. They get e-mails from the Clinton staff and give the media there talking points and just like puppets the media goes on the air and perform for her.

Susan   April 23rd, 2008 5:08 pm ET

Hillary Clinton will do anything and say anything to win. She would sleep with Rev Wright and toot coke along with her shot of whiskey if it meant the White House. Unfortunately so many in PA were too stupid to get that. They give new meaning to the label uneducated and uninformed. Bill is senile and wants to be a Republican id it meant winning. So here we have it..the process continues because of Hillary always will place her selfish interests above the party and the country..keep it up Hillary..you confirm daily exactly what half the country thinks. Unfit and untrustworthy from Day 1.

Jen Levine   April 23rd, 2008 5:08 pm ET

Mr. Obama,
YOU ROCK! The Clintons ARE complainers. I just don't see why people are voting for this bitter woman. Hilary can't take the heat, that's why she immediately resorted to negative attacks. I was disappointed to see that Obama did too the last week or so, but I guess you have to defend yourself. Obama is the candidate of young Americans. I'm 27 and tired of having old people as the president. Could you older Americans please just give this young man a chance? Young Americans deserve to have a president that can relate to them too. I can not relate to Clinton or McCain because they are staind by wealth and too many years in politics. Lets have a fresh face America. New ideas. Hey, that's what America was founded on right? New ideas?? Why is the older generation so afraid of this? Aren't you concerned about how your decisions will affect your children and grandchildren? Mr. Obama may not have experience, but that's just what the doctor ordered for America! He can help us heal!!

Love you Obama!!!!!

Capt. Smash, Salt Lake City, Utah   April 23rd, 2008 5:09 pm ET

Every American needs to understand one thing. It seems to me that the media will do and say anything that will keep Hillary Clinton in the race. The media will cow tow, step and fetch it to insure Hillary gets her say. I am so disgusted with the media on all the networks. The journalism in this country is horrible they are paid for and bought by the Clintons and the GOP. The media tells you how to vote and why you should vote a certain way. America needs to understand they can not trust television news they can not trust ABC, FOX NEWS, CNN and MSNBC. They never and I mean never do any substantive journalism or investigations any more. They get e-mails from the Clinton staff and give the media there talking points and just like puppets the media goes on the air and perform for her.

When John McCain or Hillary Clinton wins the White House and the country is still falling apart the media are the ones to blame. So when our country goes to war un-justifiably, or when PACS and lobbyist still have control of our country. Blame it on the media they are public enemy #1 as far as I am concerned. Instead of the war terror it should be the war on the media they are the real terrorist. They are the true enemies of America and can not be trusted.

Venus   April 23rd, 2008 5:09 pm ET

Obama - please just stay focus!

This is the news media and the Clintons game!

Hillary should have blown you out of this race a long time ago!

She can't win!

Whiskey   April 23rd, 2008 5:09 pm ET

I think it is SO ridiculous that so many of you people keep INSISTING that Obama can't win this state or that one. If you are a Democrat, GET A CLUE! Do you HONESTLY think that his competing against a Democratic institution like "Clinton" is the same as competing against a Republican one — Maverick or not — like McCain? Tell you what, once the "dust" settles, and Obama has been named the Democratic nominee and the blue-collar or senior voters decide NOT to back him, they do so at their own peril! If they think they've had heard times under Bush, let them IMAGINE another four years of it! You can't wage a war for another 100 years and have money at home. You can't be AGAINST universal health care and HAVE healthcare. You can SUPPORT NAFTA in its present form and create jobs, you can't set up private trust funds for seniors (or would be seniors) and sustain social security, you can't have a LACK OF KNOWLEDGE about the economy and yet improve it, etc., etc., etc. Say what you will about what you will, but those people that SOME may worry about not supporting Obama in a general election more by Hillary fans, but they BETTER NOT BECOME McCain FOOLS! We all know, the other nonessential "smut" aside, there's but a hair's worth of difference between Obama and Hillary's policy proposals. If you don't get what you NEED (and want) with one, you BETTER get it with the other. One thing is certain, you CERTAINLY won't get it with McCain!!!! You better believe, if it's a state that Hillary WOULD HAVE CARRIED, it's a state Obama WILL CARRY. And you can TAKE THAT TO THE BANK! People may be loyal … but they're NOT fools!! Self-preservation is STILL a very strong instinct, regardless of who you "like" in the primary.

Nicci   April 23rd, 2008 5:12 pm ET

I started off feeling ambiguous about the Democratic candidates who I both thought would make good options. But Clinton has lost ALL my respect. Her tactics of scarying people to vote for her (i.e. an ad with images of Bin Laden and Pearl Harbor) are no different, if not worse, than George Bush's campaign in 2004.
Fear politics makes me sick, and so does Hillary Clinton!!

Dont give up hope!

Yes We Can!

Your speech in Philadelphia brought chillbumps to my skin.

The Clinton campaign resorts to lies and mudslinging because she knows she cant beat you honestly. She touts being "ready on day one" and having more experience. What experience? She was the First Lady and then she was a Senator. Being First Lady of Arkansas and the United States does not give her more experience at being President.

You are what we need for America. I have faith in you. I believe in your words.

Just ignore the mudslinging, get behind your plans for how we're going to change things.

YES WE CAN!

Susan MO   April 23rd, 2008 5:12 pm ET

Is he serious??

He has made many attacks against Clinton & McCain.

Does he not see his own negativity?

Well, look how he rudely spoke to the good people of Pennsylvania. That was critical, bitter remarks. VERY INSULTING.

He is fooling himself. That shows he is not experienced enough to be the president of our country.

Strongely Now for Hillary Clinton :)

Obama, THAT IS THE GAME! Respond in kind. That is how the Clintons play their political game. Meet them in kind - of course without lying as they do! They will accuse you of their weaknesses. And if you don't respond, AND attack at the same time, they will make it stick by repeating it over and over and over with different flavors. You have to meet them squarely otherwise they are destroying you and the future of Americans that are relying on your victory. Hillary's plan is that if she destroys you then you will lose to McCain and she can come back in 2012. Barack, COUNTERATTACK!!! And make sure THIS TIME, you take nothing for granted. Make sure you even check your pillow before you sleep at night, lest you talk in your dream and it becomes news!!!

its about time this charlatan of a woman, is met with the same kind of politics she employs. it amazes me how and why people cannot see through this clintons. with the exception of their daughter, i think the clintons are the most corrupt in morality this country will ever produce. this is a man who spins and twist everything to benefit him first, and a wife who will say anything to the willing person to get his/her vote. no wonder the "educated" aren't voting for her, because we can see through her. however, this is the politcis of america, where you don't have to be honest or have a good moral to be an elected official. with the hate we are expeiencing in this world, to support a person who doesn't believe in fairness, talking to your enemies and a host of other comprimising factors, but rather using nuclear armament to wipe off the face ot the earth a country , just to win votes, makes me wonder.
women, go on blindly following this woman b'cos of her gender, and believe me, George Bush time as president will be much more welcome.

OMG!!

Obama should drop out and save the Democratic Party. The media, move on dot org, and the NYT are trying to "steal" the election for Obama.

He should drop out and let McCain run unopposed, or let HIllary have the nomination.

IF he loved America that's what he would do. He is too….. divisive, destroying the Democratic Party…. He is not good…. Not only that he "double parks." They say in Chicago and Washington that Obama double parks, he takes "two parking spaces" I could never vote for some left leaning liberl that would do something like that….. I was going to vote for Obama until I found out about this terrible thing, you just can't trust this dude man, he takes two spaces, no way, he is out,

Hillary is constantly spinning and distorting.

Jana   April 23rd, 2008 5:15 pm ET

You know why many people vote for Clinton, because Obama campaign, Obama himself and his supporters constantly twist the truth. Here we come again. Try Obama find even one record tape were Hillary complain about hard questions. She sad fairly that in every debate she constantly was asked first. In contrast, you are complaining about how hard or bad questions were. One of your endorsement in Pensylvania tell yesterday that Hillary had 33% plus in the pole and Obama cut it to 10%. Find me that pole. We are not dump, we do research. You do that because is not in your vocabulary. That is why people do not want to vote for you. In the history all revolutions in the world were done by very educated people. And none of them were good for those countries.

bananana   April 23rd, 2008 5:15 pm ET

Obama'a being half black pr whole black has nothing to do with his winning or losing in the primaries. The only people who look at the color of his skin are the Afro-Americans. I hear so many of them say they are voting for him because he is black and a black man shold be president. No, a person with a plan should be president and that is Hillary Clinton. Obama's plans are are all rewrites of her plans. I am also tired of his never being to blame for anything. He was always, "never there" or "didn't hear it". He is also good at being negative but talking with a smooth voice and smiling while he tosses dirt and his followers don't hear what he really says.

Also, he keeps saying that he is being tame with regard to leveling accusations at Clinton…he doesn't really have to…the media has been doing it for him!

Monroe from CA   April 23rd, 2008 5:18 pm ET

The media are constantly on her, even independent studies have been conducted that reveal the she receives extraordinary negative press compared to Obama and McCain. However, it hasn't really deterred her voters. Think what she could do if the media were with us.

The best strategy for Obama from now on is to completely ignore Clinton. She cannot mathematically win the nomination. He should just say "If senator Clinton wants to focus on me - fine. I will focus on the issues and the differences with McCain". He should completely ignore her, and only have his surrogates issues factual statements whenever necessary to respond to the next mud.

No reporting on the Columbian Trade Deal Hillary had know her husband and campaign manager were lobbying for; no front page news of her saying 'screw em' in reference to Southern voters (Obama's word bitter was front page news for 5 days); no mention of her saying she would use nuclear war against Iran; no mention of the Federal case "Clinton vs Paul'. I've said it before and I will say it again. Hillary was whining about receiving the first question in debates and after the ridiculous questions from teh ABC debate Barack simply brushed them aside. Hillary was even making sarcastic references to the SNL parody during the debate in Texas because she upset about receiving the first question. Every week Bill Clinton is throwing a temper tantrum, wether it be in a meeting with California superdelegates or at a town hall meeting in a campaign state. He can't even take the heat that his wife is taking. I already voted for Barack in the NC primary last Thursday and I hope he wins this state. I also wish that he and Hillary would stop the negative campaigning that has been the standard since the Cliton campaign started their "kitchen sink" strategy.

It makes me wonder if you can handle the debate against John McCain. Please, Please, Please act like a MAN that can handle the kitchen sink strategy, NOT COMPLAIN ABOUT IT. DEAL WITH IT !!!!!

Velma Blake   April 23rd, 2008 5:24 pm ET

Mr Obama go back to campagning so you can bring about a change that we so desperately need in the United States of America. We do not need any more Clinton years in the White House 8 is enough..

CGB from Jamaica   April 23rd, 2008 5:25 pm ET

I really like Bill and I still do, but Mrs. Clinton integrity is very questionable and that is based on facts. I guest when I lie and got caught I can say that I just misspoke, that said .

Way to go Obama!! There is no need to stoop her level of negativity.

Marty   April 23rd, 2008 5:25 pm ET

Hillary has a better chance to beat McCain. That is why Obama needs to go away.

John   April 23rd, 2008 5:25 pm ET

It seems that Hillary Clinton will do everything and anything to win the democratic nomination. She has done alone of damage to the democratic party by playing race politics. Here is a woman who is a millionaire and claims to be in sync with the average citizen. I am sorry but drinking a beer and taking a shot doesn't make you in sync with the average citizen. She has lost any shred of credibility or respect for that matter that she used to have by constantly complaining about everything. She is about as credible as Bush right now.

Jim   April 23rd, 2008 5:25 pm ET

We have been pretty tame in terms of taking our shots and just rolling with them."

Couldn't agree more. Obama and his campaign have been way nicer to Clinton than she deserves. If negative is in play, then let's go negative on the Clintons. They have plenty of negatives to bring up.

Tennessee   April 23rd, 2008 5:25 pm ET

Obama will be the nominee, but he is just not electable. Not because he is black, male, or young. He is just too far left of center. Americans have had enough of the extreme ends of politics. An extreme left wing is just as bad as Bush's extreme right wing. The country as a whole (like it or not Obamanites, the country is a whole) does not want to endure the kind of whiplash such a dramatic swing of the political pendulem offers.

e forrest   April 23rd, 2008 5:26 pm ET

obama is a gentleman with honor ,clinton is no lady, but now she has taken the game to a new level, come out fighting obama its the only thing she understands ,dirty dancing, shes even got mc ain copying her , shame on him for being her pawn and a sheep, keep going obama ,penn people will rue the day they encouraged h clinton, shes in it for the money and perks not them, they need to change with the times, not stuck in the "DARK" past

Pat - Houston, Texas   April 23rd, 2008 5:26 pm ET

agreed…..Obama is not the whiner in this contest.

Starla McDowell   April 23rd, 2008 5:26 pm ET

Only because the option to leave a comment under the headlined "story" "Abercrombie mystery behind Obama's Indiana speech" isn't available am I leaving my comment under this particular story. And it goes…yes, because these are the real issues that need to be covered by national news when it comes to the presidential nominees…AAAARRRRGGGG!!!"

Sincerely,

A completely disenchanted CNN.com reader

MikeT   April 23rd, 2008 5:26 pm ET

Ha Ha and yet he is still complaing. Why don't we do a story on shipping black people to the polls in Philly.

christina   April 23rd, 2008 5:26 pm ET

Here in pa it was always her doing and saying horrible things! Hillary you are so lucky he does not get personal with you! Remember the cigar? We didn't.

Paula in WI   April 23rd, 2008 5:26 pm ET

Obama is right on.If the Clintons find a way to use what happened to Al Gore's election to win this election I'll switch to Mcain, but I'll never cast a vote for a family like the Clintons. We were lied to by them in many scandals and they still have one scandal pending. It's too mysterious to me that so far this election is going the same way.We need a CHANGE and not another Clinton.Another Clinton means the same old stuff for another 4 years or possibly 8.This is our chance to change America.Vote Obama in 08.

GCG - Austin, TX   April 23rd, 2008 5:26 pm ET

The absolute, 100%, honest truth!

Akita   April 23rd, 2008 5:26 pm ET

He is very hard to believe, especially after his " whining" over the questions he was asked in the last debate.

Of course , "What have we come to expect from the teflon clown"

Sieg Heil - Yes we can

nancy   April 23rd, 2008 5:27 pm ET

That is totally false. It is Obama and his camp who are doing all the complaining and whining.
Nothing but negativity coming from that side.

Allison Marie   April 23rd, 2008 5:27 pm ET

What do you mean you don't understand! I thought you were going to cry at the debate………….Go home Obama, you can't win in a general, do the party a favor go home!

Uncounted in Florida

Boycotted by Obama camp!

Count all the votes!

josh good NYC   April 23rd, 2008 5:27 pm ET

Nobody had been scrutinized more than the Clintons. Obama is whining that he has to answer the questions that do mean something to the American people like his racist preacher and his ties with Ayers. Why shouldn't the American people know about that. Who Obama surrounds himself with is equally important as what he will do about Iraq. It says something about who he will have on his cabinet. Will he get Tony Rezko to be his Joint Chief. I want to know. You can't just turn on the garbage disposal of your kitchen sink and expect this to just (poof) go away. It is still looming in the minds of Americans.

E   April 23rd, 2008 5:27 pm ET

Obama is a joke.

Great   April 23rd, 2008 5:28 pm ET

Absolutely. Clinton is the #1 cry baby when things are going against her. I sure as hell don't want her as My President.

Cnn For Me   April 23rd, 2008 5:28 pm ET

Very Well put Mr. President.

I am tired of grwon people keeping there eyes close. This race is about race. If Barak was a white man, this primary would be over by now. Older white women want vote for him why??? is it because of experience? NO
Mybe his bitter comment? NO
could be his relationship with Mr Wright? Cant be (because there is not a single white person in America who does not have a relationship with somebody who has racial anger) so NO

It's because he is black, and there are millions of blind Americans who will wiling let some women continue to lie in their face and reverse her stance, tell you she would do anything to win, and you will let her…

Why because hell will freeze over before you let a black man into the office.

Lets before real.

Hate in 08 and 12 because that's the way YA'LL want it.

I dream of a better America… too bad I will die before I see it.

Teron   April 23rd, 2008 5:28 pm ET

Senator Obama is tremendously disillusioned to state that "Nobody comlains more than Senator Clinton. In truth, he has complained so much about Hillary that even during his rally speech last night he subjected the people and viewers to underlying, nasty statements about her. He comparedvoting for Hillary tovoting for a third Bush term. Seriously!!!! Again, he complains and states negatives towrads Hilaary but as usual the media will spin it into…NOTHING!! He gets away with way too much and while he does this the Times has the nerve to talk about Hillary Clinton!! They should probably start reviewing more media footage of discussions and rallies..perhaps they may get it right!!

kaye   April 23rd, 2008 5:28 pm ET

LAIR LAIR pants on fire. His campaign has been whining from the first debate.
You do take money from lobbist thru bundlers ( this includes people that work for the oil and gas co.).

Jimmy169   April 23rd, 2008 5:28 pm ET

Very well said Obama!

Dr Hubert, Lt Col, USAF Retired (2005)   April 23rd, 2008 5:29 pm ET

Sen. Barak Obama paid for negative ads 3 to 1 yet cable news are saying Clinton did more negative ads in Pennsylvania. Sen. Obama made sexist (Annie Oakley) and gender comments against Sen. Clinton yet Sen. Clinton went more negative. The facts don't support cables news reporting although Americans know that few cable networks (Fox Networks most of the time) report news.

Cable news believes that they can make up any news and Americans have seen this new type of reporting the past 18 months. Had the news network done a mediocre reporting the truth about Obama, he would have been out of the Presidential race months ago. Now the media is calling older women bitter because they are voting for Sen. Clinton. It is obvious that cable news have no decency.
