Obama, above, and Clinton often spend 20 hours a day on the campaign trail.

NEW ALBANY, Indiana (AP) — How can they not be tired?

Barack Obama and Hillary Rodham Clinton are undeniably exhausted. They've been campaigning hard for more than a year, and their wall-to-wall schedules won't let up anytime soon. Neither wants to cede ground in their epic struggle for the Democratic nomination.

Fatigue, however, breeds unforced errors — and both candidates have made some in the past few weeks.

He turned in a weak debate performance in Pennsylvania, took heat for saying residents of small-town America were bitter and inadvertently praised Republican John McCain. She, too, had a sub-par debate and mistakenly claimed to have landed under sniper fire in Bosnia as first lady.

"Sometimes. Yes, of course," Obama, 46, acknowledged Tuesday when asked whether he was exhausted.

The Illinois senator was in the midst of a near 20-hour campaign day. He left his hotel at 6 a.m. for satellite TV interviews in Philadelphia and didn't stop moving until his plane touched down Wednesday in Chicago at 1:30 a.m.

Fourteen years his senior, Clinton laughed off a question about how she maintained a grueling schedule.

"It's been a 15-month campaign and, if everything had been as much fun as Pennsylvania, it wouldn't feel like 15 years," the 60-year-old said — uncharacteristically showing weariness.

As the Democrats continue their long days of tussling, Republican nominee-in-waiting McCain, energetic at 71, has pared back his schedule considerably from the before-sun-up to after-sun-down days of the GOP primary fight.

Since the Arizona senator wrapped up the nomination last month, he has kept to just one or two public events a day. To be sure, he's at work behind the scenes raising money and preparing for the general election. But most weekends he opts for down time in Phoenix or at his cabin in Sedona, Ariz., resting up for the fall fight.

It's a luxury Obama and Clinton don't have.

The next Democratic primaries — Indiana and North Carolina — are May 6, just two weeks away, and the stakes are extraordinary.

So, the excruciatingly long days will continue.

The drawn-out race clearly weighs on Obama; he talks about it at every stop.

"I've been running for president for about 15 months now, which means that there are babies who are now walking and talking, who were born since I announced for president," he said again Wednesday, campaigning in this Ohio River city. "This has been a long primary season."

Obama also frequently mentions how rarely he gets to see his family. He rearranged his schedule so he could return to Chicago late Tuesday to see his daughters off to school Wednesday. He plans no public events Thursday, just down time at home in Chicago.

He took his family to the Virgin Islands last month for a quick rest, but went full-boar in the run up to the Pennsylvania primary.

He typically started the day at dawn with an early morning stop at a diner and ended with a nighttime rally. Several other events — and numerous interviews with local and national media outlets — were packed in between.

To combat exhaustion, Obama catnaps on his plane. Lithe and athletic, he prioritizes daily exercise to keep up his energy. But there are physical signs of the stress; his hair has grown grayer since he began campaigning.

For her part, Clinton is a veteran of her husband's back-to-back White House races and is keenly aware of the toll it takes on body and spirit. She, too, takes short naps on her plane and eats a steady diet of hot peppers, which she believes has helped her stave off illness. But she says she's getting very little exercise.

The former first lady goes to great pains to manage and hide her fatigue, mindful of Obama's youth and exuberance. Hair and makeup specialists travel with her to help her look fresh from morning until night. When she talks about the long campaign, she tries to be lighthearted and humorous.

However, when pressed about the Bosnia gaffe during last week's debate by a voter named Tom Rooney, Clinton blamed fatigue.

"I will either try to get more sleep, Tom or, you know, have somebody that, you know, is there, as a reminder to me," the New York senator said.

Her schedule is punishing. Clinton usually is up at dawn to prepare for local morning TV and radio interviews, zips to events in far flung cities throughout the day and into the evening, and often doesn't go to bed until after midnight.

In Memphis, Tenn., this month to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr., Clinton didn't get to her hotel until 5 a.m. after a redeye flight from California.

She was onstage before television cameras just 6 hours later.

If Obama is tired, he can quit anytime!

Hillary is ready, willing and able to do the job.

TAHARI in CT 4 OBAMA   April 24th, 2008 12:52 pm ET

Has anyone seen John McCain lately. He is looking pretty bad himself and he doesnt even have an opponent.

He looks like he has lost weight and is now wearing extra make up to hide the fatigue and age in his face!

Canadian   April 24th, 2008 12:49 pm ET

Yes, they should be tired….I think anyone would be with the constant focus on personality and mistakes rather then on what to do to get the country back on track.

During a debate, I would like to see Barack walk over to Hillary, face her and offer her his hand to shake and promise that from now on the focus will be on issues not silly gaffs.

Strength is not sending negative missiles from the distance of TV ads….it is facing enemies and working out a solution.

Barack would demonstrate to the world how his theory of talking to enemy nations can produce results. Show us Barack how you can do it in your own party.

A Canadian who wants to regain the respect I once had for our great neighbours to the south.

OMG! "mistakenly" ??????? Are you kidding me?? Lets call it what it is………….It's a LIE!. Against NAFTA….. a LIE! Lewinsky…a LIE!
I could go on and on. The Clintons have a documented history of lying, yet it's called a "mistake". Wake up you uneducated blue collar voters & senior citizens who are stuck in the past. Lets change the way politics are run in our country. Maybe Obama does not have alot of experience, but neither did JFK. The definition of "insanity" is to do the same thing over and over and expect a different result. Well, lets try something. It can't be worse than what we already . Lets give OBAMA a chance. BTW, I'm a life-long republican who regrets voting for Bush.

Neutral   April 24th, 2008 12:49 pm ET

Obama's hair start turning grey since this campaign have begun. You can also see how tired he is. The more tired he is, the more he speaks the truth about what he thinks of middle America. Now, he's blaming senior citizens for losing in PA, next he'll blame the catholics for not voting for him, after that, he would say blue collar workers of this country are stupid and uneducated.

You can see in CNN blog how many Obama supporters calling Americans who voted for Hillary as dumb, stupid and uneducated. As for me, I would take COMMON SENSE over college diploma anytime of the day.

The arrogance of Obama and his talking down on people especially blue collar workers are reflected by his koolaid drinkers.

If you go to Huffington post, you'd see how the Obama supporters especially the media portray supporters of Hillary. They have pictures of two white men with beer gut and look unkempt as supporters of Hillary. Suffice to say, Obama and his supporters are ELITIST, elitist with NOTHING to show, ALL TALK, NO ACTION.

This country was NOT built by the ELITE but by ordinary Americans (blue collar workers, lunch bucket) who work their fingers to the bone to make this country prosperous and great.

There's a saying that goes, " a fly that lands on the back of a cow, thinks he is a cow too." That describes succintly Obama and his supporters.

the primary's are set up to drag the process out too long.they should all be completed by the end of march.to allow the race to continue for a full 6-months,is a drain on everyone, especially the candidates.i don't think john mccain would have made it,much longer, but, maybe, with the break he's getting ,now,he'll have enough to get through the general election, but if he wins,i'm afraid we'll have a president, who will remind us of the last few years of pope john paul the 2nd.

You can't talk about "Judgement and Character" without giving that a lot of weight… A lot of weight…

Obama seems to be more exhausted than the strong woman. He is tired and didn´t want to debate in North Carolina.

Tubby The Tuba from Texas   April 24th, 2008 12:45 pm ET

I remember her stating that only she and McCain were ready for the Presidency and all Obama was ready to do was read his speech. Why has Cnn forgot about that. She also complained in debates shown on CNN about always being the first to get the question and always getting the harder questions. She even asked Obama if he needed a pillow. RIGHT?

Sari   April 24th, 2008 12:44 pm ET

Hillary Clinton voted for the war in Iraq. She is responsible for placing young Americans in harms way. These brave women and men are in life- threatening situations every minute of every day. They actually have faced sniper fire and worse. It is, therefore, reprehensible that she would repeatedly fabricate a story about having to run from sniper fire merely to bolster her own image.

And the fact that she has repeated this story several times because she thought she wouldn't be shown to be a liar? That is completely unconscionable.

Wayne get a life! Both Candidates are exhausted. Did you even read the article? Are you trying to tell me Hillary does not complain? When you are asked a question, what are you supposed to do? I guess your answer would be to ignore it or lie. Unbelievable!

kiki   April 24th, 2008 12:38 pm ET

The careful research of the vote/delegates and primary/caucus history of this campaign clearly shows that irregularities and totally undemocratic situations exist. For example, Sen Obama received 320 delegates from a total of 390,238 caucus votes. This translates in 0.0082 delegates per vote. On the other hand Clinton receives 0.0001 delegate for primary vote. Totally unfair and non-democratic.
Maybe the "super delegates" should bring fairness to the process, "super delegates" may not be very democratic but the caucuses are even less democratic and make no sense since a few activists dominate the "smoke filled" caucus rooms….

Look beyond the facade of a woman- How can you not see the malicious, the manipulative and the baseless comments of Hillary Clinton- ?????-
Her tactics to win this election has been shameless- and 'being TIRED' is not an excuse.

CB in Florida   April 24th, 2008 12:35 pm ET

Senator Obama has faced more ingrained challenges as a candidate than Hillary has as a woman and he should be the more exhausted of the two. Team Obama listened to exit surveys that were inaccurate thus, leading many to conclude that some voters in Pennsylvania gave misleading answers to conceal their racial prejudices. The road however long and stressful will come to an end soon. In the end there can be only one, may it be Barack Obama! Yes We Can! OBAMA "08″!

Dr. Walker   April 24th, 2008 12:35 pm ET

It is mathematically impossible for Hillary to end the primary season with more "earned" delegates. Please bow out gracefully Sen. Clinton.

Clinton had a GREAT debate in Pennsylvania, far from sub-par.

Obama's been so fatigued, he doesn't even have time to take care of Illinois. Check the recent killings in the Southside of Chicago.

Marshall   April 24th, 2008 12:31 pm ET

They need to work when they are tired. Most problems happen at odd times. They need to be on their game 24/7. If they can't they need to looking for a different job. President of the USA is a demanding job. Why do you think every president looks so much older at the end of their terms ?

Barb Townsend   April 24th, 2008 12:30 pm ET

The candidates lives must be very trying nowadays, and I do wish them strength health and protection - I especially hope Obama stays stong and wins. Totally wins to the point where the election cannot be stolen out from under him.

I do feel some empathy for Senator Clinton as well but i surely do not want to see her our next President.

willowood   April 24th, 2008 12:30 pm ET

Dear Ms. Chang,
Voting for a woman for no other reason than gender is demeaning, has no merit and gives proof to the simplemindedness of the electorate. What about integrity and truthfulness and substance on the issues? If you want to vote for a woman vote for yourself , if you want to vote for a president, vote for Senator Obama. Try to be clear about what you want the world to look like in 20 years.

Michelle   April 24th, 2008 12:30 pm ET

Yes, I agree with Andy, I felt Obama won the last debate. I've often wondered why Hillary gives long circuitous answers to tricky debate questions. Then I realized she gives answers like that in debates because she is trying to cover talking points that she knows will be edited into sound bites. So, the out takes look better for Hillary and support the spin that she won the debate. Man, how does one get a job creating manipulative, psychological strategies? Through The Rove Academy?

I'm ready for this nomination process to end. It must be more stressful for Obama because he tells the truth and has to sit there politely while Hillary grins and lies. Hillary's campaign is all facade including the "fresh look" her make-up crew maintains.

Eye-witness accounts are nortoriusly inaccurate. The problem is after time the brain fills in details. It gets better with sniper fire. Fiction overtakes the brain. Courtroom testimony is especially a problem. I don't fault her for lying everyones brain does this.

Jane, NC   April 24th, 2008 12:27 pm ET

CNN even managed to make an article about the candidates' fatigue end up as an Obama-biased article. However, it's obvious Sen. Obama is not accustomed to such a tiring schedule, and Sen. Clinton has gained the experience it takes to deal with it. I do feel for them, and as one of the people, I thank them both for what they are doing.

Beth in PA   April 24th, 2008 12:27 pm ET

I don't think Hilary is tired. She seemed full of energy in York, PA on Saturday. I think this is what she thrives on.

Barrack might be getting tired, if the cancelled press conferences and snapping at the reporter in the diner are any indication. It's too bad he can't take a day off to regroup. His positivity is his strong suit. I think his recent meetings with smaller groups of voters will get him back in the groove and remind him why he got into this thing in the first place.

I agree that we need to give them both some breathing room. They've both been running extraordinary campaigns and meeting with a huge swath of the population. You gotta give them credit for that!

Lana L. Baysinger   April 24th, 2008 12:27 pm ET

Voters put GWB in twice, I mean once, the supreme ct put him in the first time.. Why can't voters learn that EXPERIENCE AND INTELLIGENCE AND TOUGHNESS make a great president? Dale Pflum   April 24th, 2008 12:26 pm ET

Six years ago I stopped listening to all talk radio because they would say anything to insure that we put Bush in office and push all the lies. TODAY I STOP WATCHING CABLE NEWS. I have put a block on CNN, CNBC, FOX and MSNBC. Until November we will hear them repeat Cling, Bitter, Wright, Osama and any other words that wil help hang Obama. Clinton's job is to bloody him up and Cable new's job will be to hang him with words and pictures. McCain can then ride in on a white horse. I don't need to watch the news - it has already been written.

NoBamaEVER   April 24th, 2008 12:22 pm ET

Obama is a constant complainer. The campaign has drawn out because the people are divided between the two candidates. The Dem do not have a clear front runner, like the republicans. How is this campaign any different from others in history? I see Obama has alot of young voters. I believe the old saying 'age brings wisdom'. Many of the fresh college students have NO clue what is at stake. I know for a fact I know more at 40 than I did at 20. As I read these ticker comments, it's the Obama supporters that are so nasty and hateful.
So, Hillary landed in a hostile environment and bullets weren't actually flying over her head. So what. Are the soldiers in Iraq that have a desk jobs no less brave than the ones out in the "field"? Absolutely not! Grow up people. Obama sat in a hate filled church and chose to raise his daughters under that influence. And you wish to see him lead this nation. Wake up people.

Jason   April 24th, 2008 12:21 pm ET

Um, why is CNN buying Hillary's story that the sniper fire story was due to sleep deprivation? Being tired makes you forget things sometimes, but it doesn't make you vividly tell stories about life-threatening experiences that never happened. Her explanation was deeply insulting to everyone's intelligence, and now you're parroting it like it's fact. Shameful.

Dave K   April 24th, 2008 12:20 pm ET

Actually, I believe that spending in states should be limited so that "advertising" doesn't skew elections. Unfortunately, many people tend to vote based on what they see from TV adds in support of a particular candidate. This basically means that money ends up influencing the election instead of actual "issues"…

Limit campaign spending to something like $1M per state. Perhaps each candidate should be provided with 10min (20 commercials) worth of free commercial time over the 10 day period prior to a vote to ensure that each candidate has the opportunity to get their message out? All I'm saying is that "advertising/mud slinging" shouldn't be allowed to get so lop sided because that's how you get people voting without the actual facts.

If a jury was allowed to hear disproportionably from one side or the other the result could easily be the "wrong one". The same goes for elections…

ml   April 24th, 2008 12:20 pm ET

yes, they must be exhausted. I think that elections need to be redesigned, it takes toll on candidates, on people. Who gains on this is the media, and all the analysts, and others, who just sit and talk and talk, and try to figure out the polls etc. Meanwhile the candidates are exhausted physically, emotionally, professionally.
It is big political soup pot which "cookes" all involved.

KAL   April 24th, 2008 12:20 pm ET

I am astonished by the ability of the Clinton's to continually find ways to justify their lies. If exhaustion is the defense-du-jour in this country for being outright untruthful then we reached a new low for acceptable civil behavior.

She just plain lied when she said on more than one occasion that she "remembered" being under sniper fire in Bosnia. Her husband, in the role of surrogate campaigner, lied the other day when he insisted he did not say that the Obama campaign had played the "race card" against him. Yet there it was on, caught on tape during an interview.

This pattern of behavior from both President and Senator Clinton where they act or speak inappropriately, then laugh it off or claim that they are victims of vile attacks by enemies is actually brilliant and if it were not so repugnant, I'd have to admire their audacity.

Bringing the Clinton's back to the White House will once again plunge our nation into the circus of personal drama and tawdriness that punctuated their prior time there. Can we really afford that with the issues we are facing?

VMO in DC   April 24th, 2008 12:20 pm ET

The Presidency ages all of them. Not usually the primaries though.
This Democratic primary, thanks to in part Shrillary, has demonstrated at least one truth: If the posts on these boards are a reflection of us,we are a nation of hatred , bigotry and religious fanaticism. How can we ever expect to be trusted with the likes of Bush and the Clintons in control?

It must be exhausting. I mean sleeping in five-star hotels, flying on private jets, getting chauferred in limos, eating at five-star restaurants, getting donations in excess of millions of dollars and of course saving the receipts for all this "work" so they can write it off in taxes, sounds so tiring. The average Americans day of working 8+ hours to fill the $100 gas tank just to get to work and then go home to a house they may or may not be able to afford in the next month and having to decide between food or medical expenses just does not compare to the sheer torture of a public servant.

Truth be told I'd soon rather put my money on the young guy, as he'll recover quicker than the older candidates. Through truth seems to be in short supply at this critical juncture in our Democracy. The slash and burn politics that Sen. Clinton is so good at is emblematic of where we are as a nation and as a people. When it comes to Hillary and her win at any cost stance, up become down, and down becomes up!! And we digest it, minus our own reasoning and common sense. The math does not add up in her favor, but she'll find one that does, independent of the facts, and what has already taken place. If this is what our Democracy looks like, keep it, Liary too!! In the end, we get what we deserve; BUSHED!!

Has Hillary really admitted she lied about the snipper fire? I don't understand what she meant by "mis-speaking", it puts me off and makes me distrust her more and more. Americans need a leader they can trust. Her recent claim that she is leading in popular votes, falls in line with her persistent "mis-speaking". Even children in elementary school know that she is not truthful! Is this the kind of person we want to be US president!

And the Bosnia thing? First off, if you tell the truth, you don't have to worry about what to remember or be reminded of.
Second, I could care less about landing under sniper fire — I want to know how much Mark Penn is still wheeling and dealing for her—or am I the only one curious as to why that issue was so quickly dismissed?

Bridget   April 24th, 2008 12:12 pm ET

I know both candidates have what it takes to go to the end. Sure thay are tired but it's no time to quit now. The Democractic Party will survive and the states left with a Primary will have the voters to decide who is the candidate with the most fortitude and a plan to be President. My guess is that it will be Hillary. She is one gusty woman. Look all she has been through in her lifetime. I admire her. Obama is younger and has time on his side to fulfill his dreams and gain more experience. Now is the wrong time for him. Hillary experience makes her the better choice for today.

sandy   April 24th, 2008 12:11 pm ET

Hillary tired?, no. We are so tired of her and Bill's lies. We are in a war in Iraq because of lies. Why would we want to go back to more years of continuous lies. She lies and Bill lies to defend her lies and then says he didn't say that when we are watching him say the words. How can anyone support 4 more years of liars. Wake up people.

Mary in MA   April 24th, 2008 12:11 pm ET

Oops. Justice, not justive. :)

Beebe   April 24th, 2008 12:09 pm ET

I think anyone would be tired under these conditions. Getting attacked all day everyday for saying things most people agree with but don't want someone else saying them. Also going to rally after rally to given the same speech you've given 20 times already and answering the same questions about manufactured issues everyday. I support Obama but if nominated in a fair way I would vote for Clinton in the fall. I just wish this would hurry up and finish. Maybe then real issues could be talked about more.
On another note, it seems rediculous to me that Obama can spend $11 million on ads in Pennsylvania and Clinton can raise $10 million over a 24 hour period yet people all over the world are suffering from a food shortage. I really think our, USA, priorities are out of whack right now.

Texas Vet   April 24th, 2008 12:07 pm ET

A lot of Democrats are getting tired of this primary campaign. I guess we just need to let it happen.

Even though her campaign is over $10 million in debt, Hillary’s new infusion of $10 million will be spent in Indiana. She is in North Carolina today, but she will probably send Chelsea so she can focus on Indiana. I don’t know if sending Bill would a good idea, North Carolinians still remember his gaffs in South Carolina.

Obama is taking today off in Chicago, to map out strategies. I am glad he has put himself firmly back on the high road.

Unlike Pennsylvania, Indiana's Democratic primary, is open to all voters. State election officials reported after registration closed on Monday that about 150,000 new voters had signed up since Jan. 1, a 3.6 percent increase. That’s higher than Pennsylvania’s 146,000. New voters have overwhelmingly voted for Obama and he has a 5 point lead in Indiana and North Carolina should be a “slam dunk”.

Let’s hope the Clinton’s stay in attack mode, more and more democrats around the country are getting turned off by the “misstatements” and fallacious Ads. Except the Republicans who are already using attacks on Obama to attack Democratic Candidates. I don’t think her tactics are going to endear her to the Superdelegates..

Give in Obama…you're a crook!
Hillary for President!!!

Kansas Veteran   April 24th, 2008 12:07 pm ET

I am sure after eight years with in the White House with Republicans sniping at the first family on a daily basis, Hillary, feels as if she has been shot at, Personnally I think she has held up very well, Obama on the other hand has not received 1/10th the spot light, sniping and attacks that Clinton has endured over the past 18 years and he is all ready showing the wear and tear of just his little campaign.

How do you tell if a politician is hedging on the truth, watch them, their mouth is moving, please do not mix facts with what voters and the media want to hear, if you do none of the canidates are worth a grain of salt,

Hiro   April 24th, 2008 12:07 pm ET

Of course their tired…but sheesh, they want to be president! They'll going to be tired when the phone rings at 3 am and wakes them up, and they'll need to make tough decisions then, too.

In martial arts, you exercise until you can barely move before beginning any daily training. It's only under the most extreme duress that our truest nature and strongest will is tapped.

Working them to the bone is the only way to see what they're really like on the inside.

Concerned Democrat   April 24th, 2008 12:06 pm ET

If they are exhausted now, what will happen when they get into the White House. Obama can't seem to give anyone a straight answer now, I can't imagine the lies he will tell if elected and tired. As for Sen. Clinton being tired and going negative, Obama is down there rolling in the mud as well. He doesn't appear to be able to uphold the ideals that he preaches in his campaign speeches. Although, I don't know what to expect from a man who denies half of his heritage. I know people are fond of calling him the potential first African American president, but to do that is to deny his one half white heritage, which he seems more than content to do. If he denys half of who he is, doesn't that make him a liar as well?

Jon R. Wilson - Salem OR   April 24th, 2008 12:05 pm ET

The only serious mistake Obama could make is to name Hilly as his VEEP.

Andrea   April 24th, 2008 12:05 pm ET

By the way, Clinton creamed him in the last debate. I would hardly call that a sub-par performance!
Also, if Clinton said the whiny things that Obama does in regards to the long campaign, you better believe it would be on the front page of every paper stating that she couldn't handle the stress of the campaign she surely couldn't handle the stress of the presidency.
I agree with Hillary on this one, if you can't stand the heat (Obama) get out of the kitchen!

Mary May King   April 24th, 2008 12:05 pm ET

Sounds like Hillary is not dodging as much as initiating her own "snipe-ing" fire, while Obama is clinging to delegates by his fingernails. And the "old man" says "this aint nuthin, been through worse, just getting started!"

Mary   April 24th, 2008 12:05 pm ET

hahahaha. Shrillary has more substance alright. Is she gaining weight?

Great   April 24th, 2008 12:04 pm ET

Hillary should give Democrats a break and drop out…. what is she trying to prove here? The country will break into racial riots if the nomination is stolen from an African-American and given to a white elite. There is no way she can get the nomination, so she should cool off and take a trip to Hawaii (where Obama was born, incidentally ;) )

Joe Reg   April 24th, 2008 12:04 pm ET

Hillary last win is essentialy meaningless; since the result is essentialy the same. Why does she want it so badly and now; she can wait! So, go back to the senate and wait for your turn!

Kay   April 24th, 2008 12:04 pm ET

May the honchos of the Dem Party please spell out the conditions/rules for determining the nominee: delegates or popular votes? Nancy Pelosi said the one that has most delegates wins. Yet the Clintons and their gang are trying to steal this nomination by suggesting that it is popular votes when they realized there is no way they can beat Obama in delegates. Howard Dean, comeout and tell us what it is so that the superdelegates will realise that there is no way Hillary can win this race. Have the backbone and stand against the Chlintons and McCauliffe. You are the Chairman for petes sake! Your delay will exhaust the nominee and McCain will have an easy walk to the WH. Howard Dean, don't destroy the Dem Party.

Nicole in NE   April 24th, 2008 12:03 pm ET

I thought someone brought up a good post before:

if Hillary "misspoke" about Bosnia when she was so tired (on more than one occasion, then how will she REALLY be ready to answer that phone ringing at 3 AM?

How about her husband's dealings with Columbia and NAFTA and all those criminal pardons? Oh yeah….. her relationship with her husband has nothing to do with her - but Obama's to his pastor does. THINK PEOPLE!

People that say they will vote for McCain if their candidate doesn't win are RIDICULOUS.

I want a better country for my daughter and my grandkids! Don't you? Ask yourself - Do you really think going down the EXACT same path we're on now with McCain is what you really want? We have to get this country out of the crap we are in right now. period.

Chriss   April 24th, 2008 12:02 pm ET

Seems Her Royal Clintoness is tired a lot causing her to lie about her name, her daughter and 9/11, Bosnia sniper fire, Rose Law Firm files, opposing the pre-emptive war with Iraq before she voted for the bill, how she made a lot of money on Wall street, her brothers being paid to get pardons, opposing NAFTA, accepting "donations" greater than the legal limit from Peter Paul, …

Maybe she should quit now and take a nice, long vacation and get some rest.

ATTENTION ALL DEMOCRATS: Everyone needs to realize the Democratic Party belongs to the Bill and Hillary Clinton. So stop fighting, Bill and Hillary can do and say what ever they want and when they want. THEY CAN CHANGE THE RULES when it’s necessary, they can lie, cheat, steal and commit election fraud as long as Bill and Hillary say it is ok. I repeat the Democratic Party belongs to Bill and Hillary Clinton and Nobody I mean Nobody can stop them.

Nobody has power or strength to stop them nobody. All other DEMOCRATS POWERLESS and they have to do what Bill and Hillary tell them what to do. The journalism in this country is horrible they are paid for and bought by the Clintons and the GOP. The media tells you how to vote and why you should vote a certain way. They get e-mails from the Clinton staff and give the media there talking points and just like puppets the media goes on the air and perform for her.

All of these people listed below are powerless against Bill and Hillary and if any of us think that we the people have a say, you must be on feel good drugs. It has taken me 4 months to figure this out now I understand.

I want to say I feel sorry for Obama not seeing his family enough, but what does he expect the presidency will be like? Does he realize how much work it is? Bill Clinton only got about 4 hours of sleep a night. Hillary Clinton at 14 years his senior is better able to handle the stress and demands of the campaigning and the job as president. Obama sounds like he is constantly whining.

Hillary's lie? Vibe more like it, but a slip in memory believable when you consider she is human. This country elected twice a President who lies. Big time lies. Not understanding how anyone can vote for a confirmed liar. Give me a break.

Judging by the bags under Senator Clinton's eyes she's been exhausted from the very beginning of the campaign. It is nothing unexpected since she and her staff have to stay up all night figuring out new goal posts to move and rules to change so that they can try to win

Suze   April 24th, 2008 11:59 am ET

I think HIllary did a fantastic job at the debate despite so if she was tired, it didn't show. She was full of facts and didn't flub. I will accept, however, Obama using exhaustion as an excuse as to why he didn't perform very strongly. There has to be some excuse at least.

Regina   April 24th, 2008 11:59 am ET

The Democratic Party will regret it when they look back and know the Super Delegates ahould have ended this thing after PA results. It was a moral victory only for Senator Clinton. She cannot win without it just being handed to her and if that happens, the Democrats can not only kiss 08 goodby, but 12 also. Why is the DNC so affraid of the Clintons. It this were anyone else, they would have been forced out long ago. This cannot go to the convention. DNC and Superdelegates, get off the pot and let's end this now. The Republican Party is just sitting back and encouraging us to tear each other apart. We are being played like puppets and are too supid to realize it becasue of personal biases and predjiuces. The candidates are basically the same in their views. The ends do not justify the means…Yes, we are all sick and tired of all this stuff being allowed to continue that will result with us being in the same place as we were prior to PA. End this now.

I just read that Hillary has a hair stylist and make up artist with her at all times so she'll look refreshed. I guess I forgot - she's just like one of us. She feels our pain.
Give me a break. Are the voters that shallow that she thinks she can once again dupe us into thinking that the outer package (her hair & makeup) are more than her lack of substance?

Please wake up America…..do we really want this divisive, lying woman in the White House? It's her way or no way. She couldn't unite anyone or listen to the other side objectively if she had too. She's a control freak.

Please, please why won't she just go away before she destroys the political process and the democratic party.

Bridgette   April 24th, 2008 11:57 am ET

Lying can make you tired. It takes a lot of brain power and energy to keep up with all of those lies. And why is it you only showed a picture of Obama with the tired story. The media is corporate America now. Murdock owns the majority of the media now. Should one man or any man control information that comes out.

May   April 24th, 2008 11:57 am ET

Hillary says she is leading in popular votes? First, it is disingenious because IF she wants to count her votes in Florida, then she must count Obama's as well. And if she does, she is behind Obama. Of course, we all know that Florida and Michigan votes don't matter. But Hillary will use them anyway, even though she acknowledged herself that Michican and Florida votes will not count. By the way, who says popular votes will decide the nominee? Nancy Pelosi said it is the total number of delegates that will determine the nominee. Are the Clintons listening? NO! The Clintons are twisting the rules and changing the goal posts in their favor. They are bullying the Democratic Party. And this is because HOWARD DEAN is WEAK and he can't stand firm and decide the conditions for selecting the nominee. I used to like the Clintons, they are crooked and I don't like them anymore. What a couple!

Julie   April 24th, 2008 11:56 am ET

Obama is taking it easy today and will push through to what should be the clinchers on May 6…that is, if he had a rational opponent.

Who knows. She could quit now on a high note while she has the cash to pay her debts. Being forced out by the superdelegates after the next round of primaries would not be nearly as dignified an exit.

Frank, Missouri   April 24th, 2008 11:54 am ET

The Bosnia-Gate was a lie. Simple as that … just like Bill's lie to the American People "I had no s**ual relationship with this woman". That runs in their little emperor clan.

Katy   April 24th, 2008 11:54 am ET

Obama fight and run his campaign against Clintons machine, McCain, GOP and Fox News. I give him a lot of credits for that.

I am an independent, but don't want to put Clintons back to WH. I will vote for woman if she has integrity and honesty, not Hillary. I will vote for the lesser evil or none in November.

People think media is in Obama favor, no; they are in Clintons favor.
For NAFTA => US imports 75% of Canada products, I think the same or higher number for Mexico. For Columbia, it will be the same. You will see more foreign products and less made in USA products in America market and don't complain & bitter that you don't have $$ for gas & food & shelter. Americans to be blame and accountable for this currnet situation, the economy downfall.

You don't fabricate an entire incident (sniper fire) because you're tired.

Eileen from Portland, Maine   April 24th, 2008 11:49 am ET

Smooth CNN, lets all start repeating that Hillary Clinton misspoke about being under sniper fire because she was tired. Then maybe people won't notice that she told a very vivid story about this on 3 separate occasions, all during the daytime hours. At least one was a prepared written speech. (perhaps the reason she says words dont' matter is because hers are so meaningless). There was one reason that she made that story up and told it over and over. And it was one among many fabrications that were told for the sole purpose of deceiving us. People vote for different reasons and some people don't think character is all that important, but lets not pretend that this was anything other than a blatant, bald-faced lie.

Key West Sun   April 24th, 2008 11:48 am ET

People let’s get off the lying thing, they both lie, they are politicians.
Obama said he was a product of Selma, bald face lie, changed to, he meant the civil right movement as a whole. Obama people always say he didn't lie he just misspoke. Give me a break, lets get to the issues, Everyone need to go to Obama’s web site and read this bunch of bull he plans on doing with our missile defense systems and nuclear weapons. This man lives in a fairytale world. I don’t think this man really has a clue what he wants to do or how to do it. He is just pandering to the radical an youth vote with this anti nuclear stuff, God I hope he is pandering and not really planning to carry out this wacko plan.
The thoughts of this man appointing a Supreme Court Justice scares me to death, he could do more harm to this country in 4 years than our enemies have done in 50.

The facts are these……….Obama inspires and Hillary will deliver!!! Their positions don't differ much, Obama cannot be a President in training, McCain will keep us in War…..Hillary is our best choice. My thing is this, people make mistakes, she apologized just like Barack apologized for the actions of his Preacher, if he was a man that he actually looked up to, he would have defended him and not let him disappear from his campaign trail. Everyone should do their research and then vote for the candidate of their choice and may the best person win. Thank you very much!!

I used to think that only the candidates could be so mean and hurtful to one another, but after looking at alot of these posts, I find it very sad that everyday people can be so cruel too. And it doesn't have to be this way- it is not a "can't stand the heat" kind of issue.

Why can't we be kind, hopeful and courteous? That is what I want for our country. I think that is the only way we move forward.

That is what Senator Obama can give us.

If the shoe were reversed and Mr. Obama was leading in those two states, she'd be screaming her heart out about it not being fair. Good Grief, when will people know that Clinton is a liar deep down to her bones. I don't mind a woman president, just not THAT woman. Mr. Obama needs to stay the course and keep his message true. wow, he's winning and has really already won unless the rules of the contest are changed - which they realistically could be.

He isn't blaiming Hillary for anything, he pointed out that she's one extremely negative. That's just a fact, not an excuse - and it worked for her in PA.

He didn't blaim the media for anything either although he justifiably did critisize them. The last 'debate' wasn't not at all balanced. They had a right to ask those questions, but there is no reason that couldn't have asked Hillary similar ones.

He didn't blaim senior citizens for anything either. That's a week demographic for him and he pointed out that it wasn't in his favor in PA. Hos is that any different than Hillary's Lousiana comments (other than hers were race related)?

SO TRUE! –> Clinton was criticizing Obama for his stance to increase the limit on income that's available for social security tax from the current limit of $90,000.00. When Obama pressed for her position she stated she preferred to form a comittee once she's president like the comittee Reagan set up to deal with the issue when he was president. Obama reminded Clinton that that particular comittee advocated raising the cap. Clinton had no answer to that, except that "we will find some way…" Huh?!

Lee in Minni   April 24th, 2008 11:45 am ET

Wow, some of you should really consider a couple things. Clinton's Bosnia story was told to prove a point. She wasn't trying to LIE to the people. People will exaggerate some things in order to get something across and she even apologized for what she said. Does anyone take that into account? NO! People are quick to judge and would rather listen to that celebrity Barack Obama. This campaign has been trying on both of them, but if you notice, Hillary still has her composure and her dignity that she is known for. Her perseverence will help her as she defeats both Barack and McCain.

Marc in DeKalb, IL   April 24th, 2008 11:45 am ET

I'm sorry, but fatigue doesn't make you tell the same detailed story on several occasions.

Neither as a programmer, working 2 or 3 days straight on a single program… (and doing so consistently for weeks at a time) or as a historian, working on archival research on minimal sleep… have I made up a ridiculous story which was NOT meant as some sort of sophomoric joke.

… and it was quite clear she was NOT joking. She even had the tonal excitement as if she had actually experienced it.

She's either a liar, or a lunatic, but one thing is for sure… she should never be the President.

Anyone by Hillary, 2008.

KJ   April 24th, 2008 11:45 am ET

I have to agree with Mary in AL. Come on, the Clinton's will say and do anything to get elected. Let's not forget President Clinton when he told an audience filled with College students when we tried smoking marijuana that he didn't inhale, but would have if he could.

Do any of us actually think this was not a ploy by him to gather votes from the College students he was speaking at and/or the demo's. Please, do NOT insult our intelligence. Now comes Senator Clinton who "mispoke" about her Bosnia trip when she was the First Lady. Enough said and let's face it, the Clinton's have shown a pattern of lying to the American people and more than likely under oath too.

Please for the sake of this country, Senator Clinton needs to go away from these primaries so we can elect someone who can move this great country of ours forward…enough is enough.

Oscar, Rio Vista, CA   April 24th, 2008 11:45 am ET

As we can see from this article, CNN is still firmly behind Clinton. I remember seeing Clinton tell the LIE about Bosnia THREE (3) times. When you are tired you don't make up stories and do all the hand movements and smile etc. You don't tell the same exact made-up story three times. That is called lying. That is called fairy tales.

C'mon CNN … the best political team should be able to do some better reporting than this.

Praetorian, Fort Myers   April 24th, 2008 11:44 am ET

Get used to it. Small sacrifice to pay for the gracious benefits the American taxpayer's bestow to the President.

Great salary while in office, servants, royal life style. Then life-long secret service protection, air travel, medical care, and a pension over $160,000 per year for as long as you live. Not a bad return on the effort invested to become President. Even if you screw things up–you're set for life after just one term!!

Travis in Indiana   April 24th, 2008 11:43 am ET

People donut mistakenly remember traumatic events when nothing traumatic took place. Had there been sniper fire, perhaps she would have mistakenly remembered running. Had she been told to run to a car, maybe she would have though there were snipers firing at her. Unfortunately for her, neither of these things happened.

Shaking the hand of a small child should not cause post traumatic stress syndrome. So she either lied, or was on some mind altering substance at the time. (too many motion sickness pills?)

donny   April 24th, 2008 11:43 am ET

Hillary? Subpar debate? When? You guys are nuts.

She slipped once and you keep repeating it a hundred times. Obama however: BITTER, MCCAIN GOOD, WIFE NOT PROUD OF AMERICA, RACIST MENTOR….SHALL I GO ON?

James   April 24th, 2008 11:42 am ET

True heroes! [/sarcasm]

J. Richter   April 24th, 2008 11:41 am ET

Repeating a wrong account of an incidence four times can not be attributed to tiredness.

And unless if you grew up in Compton (sorry folks from there), you WILL remember if you were under fire (when you were raised in Chicago surburbs in the 50s).

Horrible journalism here equating lying with "misphrasing"!

Lee Chang   April 24th, 2008 11:41 am ET

Good luck both Hillary and Obama - as a woman, no offence to Obama, I would vote for Hillary - because she is a woman and besides has more substance.

Susan in PA   April 24th, 2008 11:40 am ET

Of course they're tired.

So am I.

The DNC needs to step up their calls to SDs to make a choice. I'm all about democracy, of course, but voting just for the sake of voting is not very helpful. Hillary is behind, will remain behind, and is a pain in my behind.

This should end May 6th.

Bobby   April 24th, 2008 11:40 am ET

Mrs. Clinton told that story at least four times, on at least four different occasions. Was she tired all those times? Why did her aides not correct her after the first (reported) time she told that lie? Now she is blaming all that on tiredness! Come on CNN..be real. It has been a historical trait in the Clinton household to lie. Look at her husbands record..through whitewater…lewinsky..open dinial of the race quote when they had it recorded..and what else? Hillary just wanted to appear as if she had battle/military experience since she has been touting that she'll be ready on day one! …so she lied. She forget this is the age of video…hurray for that.

Typical bitter white person   April 24th, 2008 11:40 am ET

Hmmm…seems that every time CNN has an article about both candidates it uses a picture of Barrack. Why is that???

TEXAN FOR THE NAKED TRUTH!!!   April 24th, 2008 11:40 am ET

IT's DOUBTFUL CNN WILL EVEN POST THIS OR ANYONE READ IT< BUT: If you do read this there is no doubt the candidates are tired. And, I agree they do make mistakes. If all American People will face facts the two candidates CLINTON AND OBAMA are wonderful americans. Their choosing to put themselves through all the ridicule and bad-mouthing we the public seem to want to give them by calling them LIARS IT,IS TIME FOR US TO STOP THE NEGATIVES AND PRAISE OUR CANDIDATES OF CHOICE> I personnally wish both the best of luck in the rest of the Campaign. Either one will be a good President. Under the Cinton years of the ninities even under the republican attack we had the best years america has had for the last sixty-five years. No doubt OBAMA can if he can bring about the changes he promises will also be a great President for this country. SO MY POINT-LET'S SEE IF WE CAN STOP WHIPPING UP ON THESE PEOPLE AND LEAVE THE NEGATIZM TO THEIR ATTACK ADS, AFTER ALL THOSE ADS HAVE NOT BEEN ALL THAT BAD. THIS IS POLITICS AND THIS IS WHAT POLITICIANS DO. Never-the-less one way or another whomever wins whether it be OBAMA or CLINTON we Democrats need to stand by our party and vote Democratic., OR DO YOU WANT TO FACE MORE OF THE SAME RISING ECONOMY AND LOSS OF EMPLOYMENT. It is getting out of hand just for a family to buy food, gasoline and other products it takes to support your family. This is fast becoming only a thing the rich can do. This is a republicans goal. GET RIGHT PEOPLE AND PRAISE THESE PEOPLE INSTEAD OF HATE REMARKS. THEY, EITHER ONE OT BOTH TOGETHER COULD BE THE BEST THING THAT EVER HAPPENED TO THIS COUNTRY> From aTexan who is becoming bitter, but one with his eyes open.

Sam   April 24th, 2008 11:40 am ET

Cry more. What do they think life in the white house will be like? There is a reason all presidents get grey hair during their terms.

Gail   April 24th, 2008 11:39 am ET

Obama people on here are amazing. Hillary not tired, poor little young Obama is? You people are truly strange.

Kenneth M   April 24th, 2008 11:39 am ET

Obama in Indiana:
The best way to yank votes from Hillary is going to by play to what the Clintons promised them during Bills term in the office. Point out that he did not deliver, and express how he can certainly deliver. To do this, he will have to get out there and meet the people and do focus groups, research local newspapers, and really get in personal. All great Politicians have moments like these. When Bill Clinton lost the governors race in Arkansas, Gore in 2000, and Regan’s lost to Nixon. It all depends on how they come out of it. Gore got fat and hairy. Clinton and Regan buckled down and came up with a win. What will we say about Obama?

John   April 24th, 2008 11:38 am ET

Anyone out there notice that ONE in TEN voters in Pennsylvania were Republicans who switched parties so they could vote? You realize that Republicans know that by helping to drag this Primary contest on, McCain has more of a shot at winning in November. I'm no consipracy theorist, but doesn't that seem like what's going on?

Chris   April 24th, 2008 11:37 am ET

This is the Hilalry story that has not been told:
With only a quarter in her pocket for every dollar Obama has, with only one local reporter supporting her to every 10 mainstream media personel that Obama has, with a history of the most publicized humiliation and hurt that a person can go through, with a gender that poses a historical impossible odds, with only blue collar senior and poor supporters that has to crack open their piggy bank in order to donate 5 dollars to her campaign every other month……..under this circumstances, all should expect that HIllary should be curling up in the fetal position in tatter clothing and rock back and forth in utter despair. Yet, shes not! she's standing tall with her boxing gloves on and fighting as though it is the first round in a championship fight for the ultimate priz
