Clinton sees influx of campaign cash

Clinton has seen an influx in campaign cash since winning the Pennsylvania primary.
Clinton has seen an influx in campaign cash since winning the Pennsylvania primary.

NEW YORK (CNN) - Sen. Hillary Clinton's Pennsylvania victory seems to be helping her regain ground financially against rival Barack Obama, who has outraised her by tens of millions of dollars.

The day that followed Clinton's Pennsylvania win was the biggest day in the history of her campaign, according to Terry McAuliffe, her campaign chairman.

The New York senator raised $10 million through the Internet and had 80,000 new donors, he said.

Compare that to two months ago, when Clinton could not afford to pay staffers and even lent her campaign $5 million from her own pocket.

You wonder why politics is so crooked when the canidates smile when they win a state and the money flows in. Give this country up to the military at least we know they are not on the take.

Hillary you are smart woman keep asking for donation when you know you do not have a chance to win. Those stupid supporters of yours will keep giving you money at least then you can pay you debts. Keep deciving those idiots who are supporting you I know you are very good at that.

The bloggers here are very "negative". This money did not come out of thin air, it came from your fellow Americans, and guess what their trying to say with their money.

"raw throat April 24th, 2008 2:30 pm ET

Americans have a sore throat from spitting Obama out.

Boy the DNC and the party elites and the media are relentless in pushing this guy on us.

We want fair play, equality and justice for ALL Americans.

    We support Hillary Clinton.

She has held up with the deck stacked against her"

When Hillary started this campain, she was the front runner and her favorable ratings were in the 50s. She didn't count on Obama to do so well and her campain didnn't plan on that. Obama had a better running campain and came from behind. What ever Clinton's situation is, is brought onto herself by herself, with the help from Bill...

How much is for the primary and how much for the general election? Someone please correct me if I am wrong, but I thought her issue was that half of the money she brought in last month was from people who'd already gone over the primary $2300 limit and therefor the money could only be used in the general.

And I agree with others...we need proof to believe Clinton these days. Remember how they kept saying there were no issues of debt or paying off bills? Then they wouldn't show their accounts until forced by the FEC after which we realized they'd been lying about not being in the red.

A Clinton presidency would be similar to Bush's in that we'd stop trying to listen to what she was saying because we'd never know what was truth, half-truth or outright lie.

I wouldn't beleve a word that comes out of her campaign or out of her mouth directly! She might have raised $10 million...or $5 million ..or $1 million or $100 bucks!
This is all a rather transparent attempt to convince small contributors that she is viable and has some sort of new momentum and also a new miraculous way of legitimately winning the nomination!
Watch very carefully, by the time the April finance number are actually released in May, she will be in debt by $15 million to $20 million and there will be no evidence of the so called "$10 million" to be had!

Talk about throwing good money after bad. Your donations would be better spent on the those in the Army ,Navy, AirForce & Marines, who are daily fighting for your right to be stupid. The continue to do the best they can with substandard equiptment , yet you blog here & pat yourself on the back for supporting candidates who have more money than you will ever earn. Check your priorities people!

This primary shows, undeniably, that a black man has to work TEN TIMES as hard as a white man OR woman to be given the same respect, consideration and acknowledgement. G.D. the United States of AmeriKKKa for being the evil racist country that it is.

Want will happen to the money she is asking for after she finally know she has lost? Will she return to the poor Americans or top-up the 109 million she and the husband already have?

I just donated $50 to Obama again... he's rolling in cash and continues to outraise Hillary. Once he wins NC and Indiana, it's over for her. 12 days and it's over...

Hey Obama, you're giving the same speaches over and over again. We need something new from you. I think the last new one was about your grandma and rev. wright.

Hey Hillary, what the heck have you and Bill got up your sleeve? And more so, how the heck do you each get away with lying so much?? You're all over the news with all your lies, and somehow voters don't seem to mind.

I think those who donate have the right to know if Hillary is charging the campaign interest on the five million she loaned it. If she is, that would mean some of their donations are going directly into her pocket.

You go girl !!!! Just sent in my donation.
The DNC and the media may continue their love affair with Obama as they try to shove Obama down our throats, but they can't make us vote for him.

Here in NH there are a whole lot of people who would revote for Hillary making her lead that much greater if they had known as much about Obama in February as we do now. The more we see the less we like of this charleton.

Hang in there Hillary, Nobama, noway, nohow, not now, not ever.

    PLEASE POST THIS IMPORTANT MESSAGE

ATTENTION ALL DEMOCRATS: Everyone needs to realize the DEMOCRATIC PARTY BELONGS TO THE BILL AND HILLARY CLINTON. It has taken me four months to figure this out but know I understand. So stop fighting; Bill and Hillary Clinton can do and say what ever they want and when they want. THEY CAN CHANGE THE RULES WHEN IT’S NECESSARY, they can lie if needed, cheat, steal items from the White House, and commit election fraud as long as they say it’s ok. I repeat THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY BELONGS TO BILL AND HILLARY CLINTON, make no mistake. Nobody and I mean nobody can stop them. Nobody has power, strength or courage to stop them; nobody. All other democrats have to do what they say when they say. They intimidate and threaten Superdelegates if they indorse Obama, they will feel the Clinton raft if they do so. Just like the two Superdelegates in North Carolina that are feeling pressure for backing Obama. With that new Rev. Wright campaign ad. All the Democratic Party leaders are either scared of them or afraid of the dirt they will release on them. If you notice none of the so called power brokers will tell Hillary that she should exit. Including:

    Howard Dean
    Ted Kennedy
    Al Gore
    James Carter
    John Edwards
    Nancy Pelosi
    Harry Reed

They are all powerless and will do nothing to stop Bill and Hillary’s slash and burn politics. It has stopped Obama’s momentum he is being forced to fall in line with Clintons rule changes. No party leader has the guts or the courage to put an end to this thing. If all the renaming Superdelegates would stand up all at once and say enough is enough, then maybe just maybe we could win in November. However, courage is hard to find these days among the SO CALLED DEMOCRATIC PARTY LEADERS!

just donated $100 to Obama..at least I know it will be for a winnning cause.
Don't the people contributing to Clintons campaign understand that this $10 million will not go to further her campaign, but to pay off past debt??
There is a sucker born every minute.

    To Betsy

She is not "our girl". Don't get fooled just because she is a woman that she is for women. The "girl" is for herself and for power and we all know what power equals. "Our girl" wouldn't exploit families for money and votes.

It's sad, because you can't convince Clinton supporters of anything else. I'm pretty sure all these Clinton supporters are the same people that voted for George W. twice.

Too bad there is no way of verify the truth of these claims.

This is more spin. Just think 9.3 is really a 10.

By the time she needs to release her next campaign numbers, maybe she will have raised 10M, but we'll never be able to verify that she did it in one day.
