Jenna Bush may not back McCain

Laura Bush and daughter Jenna appeared on CNN's Larry King Live Thursday.
Laura Bush and daughter Jenna appeared on CNN's Larry King Live Thursday.

(CNN) - President Bush was quick to endorse John McCain when the Arizona senator wrapped up his bid for the Republican presidential nomination.

But another Bush might not be so sure.

Speaking with CNN's Larry King Wednesday night, Jenna Bush said she hasn't decided yet who she will vote for in November.

"I don't know," Jenna Bush, daughter of President and Mrs. Bush, said when asked if she will back McCain.

"Of course [I am open]. I mean, who isn't open to learning about the candidates and I'm sure that everybody's like that," she added.

Though the younger Bush conceded she has "been too busy with books to really pay that much attention."

Meanwhile, mother Laura Bush was quick to affirm that she will be voting for the Republican candidate in the fall.

The two appeared on the show to discuss Jenna Bush's upcoming wedding next month.

"[It will be] outdoors, very small wedding, you 'know, very small, all relatives, our families, really, kind of big," Jenna Bush said. “So it's half-family and then half very close friends."

I agree that we really shouldn't know (or care) who Jenna votes for, I am very amused at some of the comments. Tell me how does Obama (or Clinton) get "tagged" with being a great leader or how they brag about their experience!! The Democratic candidates have ACCOMPLISHED nothing...as of yet. And if you think this administration is responsible for everything uncomfortable about this economy, just wait!!! You haven't seen nothing yet.

Army Wife, when most of us were in shock after 911 and were convinced of Iraq having WMD and its connection to the 911 culprits (based on our intelligence and IRAQ's past), I really question why would anybody vote against invading IRAQ unless you have connections and interests on that side of the world?

Hey all you Obama supporters, if you watched the program, she never mentioned voting for Obama.

In fact she mentioned how she and Chelsea Clinton were friends. She said she was going to call Chelsea in the near future to get together and have a cup of coffee. I know this may come as a shock but maybe she is going to vote for Hillary.

So glad she's "open" about it. However – too busy with books to pay attention? C'mon – that REEKS of prepared statement. Everybody knows that people who interview the president and people closely affiliated with him have to give the cronies a list of questions and THEY will tell them if they're appropriate or not.

That's ok. Babygirl is trying to boost daddy's approval – in her own little way.

Ann I have news for you. If the young were choosing based on quality rather than color. The better choice would be McCain. My two sons, one of whom is in Iraq and the other a U.S. Marine in Okinawa support our country and because they do, support MCain because he also loves America and are prepared to die for their beliefs. Are your children willing to do so too. Or do you just want to live off the fat of the land and let others do your dirty work. Freedom is not Free.

    As my Lord and Saviour said on the Cross at Calgary;
"Forgive them Lord for they know not what they do."

She must support Obama. No way could she ever support Clinton.

What a couragous young lady. The brains in the family must have skipped a generation.

Pfftbahaha you guys think she is going to vote for Obama? You do know she's marrying a conservative strategist? If anything she means McCain is too liberal. I bet she votes for Ron Paul.

Nice to see an open-minded Republican (if she is one). Most are so set in their ways.

Not sure why this should be a real big deal. Kids grow up and start to make their own decisions and form their own opinions. I'm a hard-core Democrat, but I have one son who turned out to be a real neo-con. Not sure how that that happened, but it did. And I didn't disown him.

While those supporting the status quo there has been an attempt to make this a race between gender or ethnic group. However this election is clearly about the generational divide.

Old soldiers do not fight future wars! The 77 million "baby boomers" have a vested interest in keeping the status quo that's why Barack has a difficult time garnising their support.

A change in the contribution cap for SS and raising the age limit for full SS benefits is a must!

Jenna Bush supports Barack Obama and good for her!

    Go Barack '08/12

  20. gawlee you guys~

The reason cnn believed this to be a newsworthy story is because she is the daughter of the president. yeah he may be the worst president in us history, but she still is the first daughter (is that such a term)> lol.

anyhoo, the fact that she is hinting around that she is not voting for mccain is wonderful news-especially news that cnn would like to report seeing that they are seemingly backing obama. this is great. even the president's daughter thinks republican policy sucks. that is news! that means the future of our country (which is in the hands of our youth) may be okay after all!
so everyone stop your biatching about this being a newsstory-i enjoyed learning this!

She is probably having nightmares of what her father would do to her if he found out she was supporting a black man! oh no! get my shotgun, Laura! LOL!

But, since her and her sister are just a couple of boozers who really cares?

  24. who cares

good for her that she sounds like an independent thinker.

those of you who thinks she is voting obama or clinton, who cares and why does that equate to having "brains"? you can love your candidate to death but that does not mean you are smarter than the next person who votes differently.

I agree..............who cares! People starving, Gas prices thru the roof, food at an all time high...........and we've got this ditz on as if it's important news?

Think about it people, what's going on when our supposed leaders and the media are so out of touch with you and I.? It'll only take a revolution before it get's better.
