Clinton hits McCain over New Orleans comments

McCain traveled to New Orleans Friday.

McCain traveled to New Orleans Friday.

(CNN) - On the heels of John McCain's visit to New Orleans' Lower Ninth Ward, Hillary Clinton said Thursday night she has a better record of fighting to rebuild the Hurricane-ravaged region.

"The difference between Senator McCain and myself is that I have a long record of fighting to rebuild the Gulf and to help the citizens who live along the Gulf who were left to their own devices by their government," Clinton said at an Indiana event. "In fact, Senator McCain said he might want to tear down the ninth ward instead of rebuilding it, but I went to the ninth ward after Katrina and met with people there and saw the destruction and I saw the resilience in their eyes and they deserve our help to rebuild and regain their lives and their homes."

Clinton appears to be referring to comments McCain made Monday on board his campaign bus: "That is why we need to go back - to have a conversation about what to do - rebuild it, tear it down - you know -whatever it is," he said then.

But speaking in New Orleans Thursday night, McCain seemed to rule out the possibility of tearing down the area.

"There may be some who wonder from afar: Why even bother rebuilding parts of what was lost in Katrina? But the people who live there in the Ninth Ward don't feel that way. They are even hoping that life will be better than before," he said

At least both McCain and Hillary are beginning to talk about solutions for New Orleans, that that will help to raise attention to what needs to be done there – that's important. Still, I'd have more respect for either one them if, rather than talking about what needs to be done, they joined the thousands of American volunteers out there everyday rebuilding houses for people who lost their homes.

Why of course, Hillary has done everything, all you have to do is just listen..................she will tell you. The only thing she hasn't done is ......"Tell the Truth". Plan and simple fact with this women is that you can tell when she is lying................and that is the moment she opens her mouth.

"She has a better record of fighting to rebuild the Hurricane-ravaged region" Oh, please stop, Hillary! How stupid do you think we are?

It was John Edwards who stood amongst the rubble of the 9th Ward to announce both the beginning and, sadly, the end of his presidential bid.

It was Harry Connick Jr. (Musician's Village) and Brad Pitt (Make it Right) who rolled up their sleeves and actually did something.

And, by the way, what has the William Jefferson Clinton Foundation done or donated to rebuild this great American city?

Play with Obama today… and fight in Iraq with John in Nov.

America wake up- Obama is a demagogue- the slickest of politicians.

But he can not reach most of America.

The democrats know who to nominate so that they will always lose the election.

    Obama= lose in Nov.

McCain campaign, in defending yourself or sending a return attack, please do not send it at Obama as you have done in the past. This makes it look like you're trying to support Hillary in order to draw out a bitter Democratic nomination battle – maybe you are?

Funny how Hillary has a 'long history' when it comes to any topic that comes up. Good grief, you'd think she's been a senator since the 1600's!!

I love Hillary, but recently i am beginning to dispute the fact that, she is the right candidate to be the president, She is now extremely negative, she has lost contact, anyway i still hope she wins, if not she have herself to blame, she should stop blaming anyone for her down falls. Please Hillary concentrate on the issues.

Hillary is manipulative, vindictive, divisive, shameless, back-stabbing person. Why people keep voting for her?????
Wake up democrats, you need our support Independents, but we do not see you being very smart on this one. All the support that Obama is having form Independents and some Republicans will go away if you Democrats do not stand up, have a back bone and finish this bloody race that the Clintos + Republicans are doing to your Party.

Democrats + Independents + Some Republicans = Win for Obama!

Hillary has done just about everything in this world hasn't she? As soon as someone says anything, she comes back with a bigger, better and more important involvement.

What respect I had for the Clintons is now gone as a reslt of this campaign. She had her turn, she was co-president for 8 years, as she would like everyone to believe.

Shouldn't there be term limits for spouses too?

Hillary and McCain had their opportunity to repair Katrina devastation right after the flood, not until they are running for President and several years later. Too little too late.

Clinton has been to New Orleans a few times not just to have her picture taken geesh. When is Obama going over to Iraq thats the question these superdelegates should be asking before they make up their mind.

Ahh oooh, McCain she “got you” on this one. Now will the media run with the comments that McCain wants to tear down the 9th Ward? I will sit here and wait.....

As I wait, if Sen. Clinton has done so much the why is there still so much still to do? I mean every time you turn around she is saying that she has either done that before or she can fix it. If she can fix then just fix and stop telling people you can do it and it never gets done. i.e. universal health care.

Where was John McCain when Hurricane Katrina hit? This man who is SOOO concerned about the victims now spent time partying and celebrating his birthday with Bush at the same time that hundreds died in New Orleans.

I agree with Shirley, where was Hillary before she was running for Prez. There were a lot of photo ops but no action, she didn't have to go to NO, she just had to stand up to GW and tell him "Shame on You, GW" isn't that what she said to Obama when she accused him of doing something wrong.

Oh wait, she is whoever you need her to be: hunter, war fighter, peacemaker, sniper fighter, crook, liar, blue collar worker, anit trade person, trade person, you name it she is it. GO HILLARY

Did she dodge sniper fire while she was there?

I'd like to know one thing Hillary has done for New Orleans. Just one.

Hillary is fair she targets everyone with her hate ads.

You have heard very little about McCain asking the NC RP to take the negative ads about Obama off the air.

Bet ya Hillary will still go negative.

Clinton how about denounce the ad that the RNC is putting out against Obama in North Carolina.

I am also waiting for you to denounce Gov. Rendells praise of Louis Farakhan and the Nation of Islam. (Do I hear birds chirping?) The Clinton candidacy is a joke.

Hillary is still doing bad math. The land is below the water level. This is not good for the area. Hillary needs to recommend something not let this
happen every time nature has unfavorable conditions. whatever the answer is, Hillary has experiance, not positive decision making skills.
