Clinton: McCain could do more to stop Wright ads

GRAHAM, North Carolina (CNN) - Hillary Clinton criticized John McCain Monday for not doing enough to stop Republican ads running in North Carolina and Mississippi featuring the infamous comments made by Barack Obama’s former pastor Jeremiah Wright.

“I believe that if Sen. McCain were serious he would do more than send a letter. He is the putative nominee,” Clinton told reporters. “I think that he could very clearly tell the North Carolina party, tell the Mississippi party that he would not tolerate those kinds of advertisements and I’m waiting to see whether he does that.”

Obama has said that questions about his relationship with Wright are a legitimate political issue. Asked if she would engage on it, Clinton seemed to put the issue to bed by responding that she has made it clear that in Obama’s position she wouldn’t have stayed in the church.

“I regret the efforts by the Republicans to politicize this matter,” she added.

How insulting to the American voters. What kind of games is Hillary Clinton playing with us?

How insulting to the American voters. What kind of game is Hillary Clinton playing with us? This should be truly insulting to all of her supporters. Shame on you Hillary.

all i heard is that people keep on bashing Hillary like they know her well, but i'm sure that not alot of them actualy know her or Obama. let keep this real, be neutral, say what u know about both candidates. I think Hillary is a better candidate based on her experiences in politic. U just can not bring someone new in and change things around. remember it's POLITIC

Clinton started the attack and now she knows she is going to North Carolina, where voters hate her guts.

Pander on Hillary, it won't work.

McCains only way of winning in the fall is if he ruins Obama's image, and thats just what he's trying to do. Its too bad he is willing to sacrifice someone's life for it. Leave Jeremiah Wright alone you old bag, and start focusing on the important things like the fact that you want to fight with whoever does not agree with you. Good luck. Say goodbye to America if McCain gets elected. There are over 2 billion Arabs and only 330 million Americans, I say the odds are pretty scary that we can force everyone into doing what we want. Lets try another approach, shall we?

  7. I can't wait....

until Hillary goes away and drops out. She has been absolute venom to the democrats. Move the goalposts, change the rules, make up stories (then lie about making up the stories), etc, etc, etc.

Seriously, Hillary supporters, we need you come the fall. But please get off your high horse because Hillary ain't gonna win.

Cutting your nose to spite your face is petty and–quite frankly–stupid. You lunchbucket dems will be out of a job with no healthcare if McCain gets in. So while you love hate our candidate (Obama), you better get with it.

If you do vote for McCain, don't expect any of us upper income Obama supporters to cry as your job goes to china. We won't shed a tear.

Hillary is right - she is taking the democratic party line against McCain. However, when asked a question concerning Obama and Wright, she did have a chance to comment. There is nothing wrong with answering a question - is there Howard? Is there Nancy?

Obama, Oprah, Wright and Obama's followers brought race into this contest when they told blacks that they should vote for a black candidate bacause he is black. Obama and Wright's racism is now on the table. Now let's play for real! Hillary 08!

Oh, I'm so glad North Carolina gets it. I was worried–as long as they know she's a snake, there's hope. Step over that manure coming from Hillary, and vote for Barack.

For those of you IDIOTS, and you know who you are, Hillary has shown "grace" and "dignity" right from the get go and has NOT commented on this. So for you Abominations to somehow blame her, accuse her of negativity and call her names is pathetic. Keep this up and you WILL lose the General Election. What a pathetic set of low lifes. You cannot even handle "positive" comments from Clintons. Keep whining.

This is comical really. First she says that McCain should do more (he in fact has done something by sending the letter and making public comments that he doesn't think the ads should be run and that his campaign is not going down this road) and then she turns around when given the opportunity to denouce the idea of bring up Wright herself and she says I've said I wouldn't have stayed in the church. Hillarious! She must think the American people are extremely stupid.

I think Ann Richards is vindicated. GW beat her in her re-election for governor, and now he is going in the history books as the worst president of modern times. I would not want to be in his shoes.

We heard you loud and clear Ann, he's a loser who wouldn't know how to call a baseball game.
