what are you talking about!?!? yea lets not get insurance and not pay our medical bills because without ins. they are 10-20k then our credit is in the trash and we cant get a home or any loan for anything because everything is so overpriced. the system is made to force us to get insurance because if we cant pay our medical bills we die. we cant go on strike. but if we protested at all hospitals and insurance companies a change might happen but we are a complete consumer society. we dont care unless it directly affects us. we will fall it is only a matter of time it is a cycle

Health care comes at great cost. We owe $35 TRILLION to SS and medicare already, so if we tack on Health care, this country is ruined in 30 years because the idiots in Washington don't know how to run this place.

Today's government should be run by CEOs and those that understand how to run a business.

Here is a fact: if we don't double taxes right now and cut spending to zero in our government, then we can pay off the $35 trillion in debt we have to it's own people.

Adding health care and increasing taxes 50% will just delay the death of this country from within... and this 26 year old is terrified of our future.

Heath care is not a right. Socialized medicine is not going to work. It will lower the quality of care and the incentive for new treatments. We should be promoting self-reliance and charity in our local communities. That is the only way to solve the problem. Giving more power and authority to a central government will only enslave you and your children to it. Have we not learned over the past 100 years that socialism does not work? Do you want to live in Russia or China? Then go and take Hillary and Obama with you. I'm voting for Ron Paul.

I'm one American that can barely afford the increasing prices of healthcare. Hillary says make us buy it , with WHAT MONEY!! I don't have it like you do. Barack says make sure the children have it that's really the most important until I can afford it.

WOW, that's a lot of words for saying NOTHING about your so-called plans for healthcare.

mccain can TALK all he wants, i look at his career-long history of supporting big business and his decades-long love affair with MANY lobbyists for big business and i can tell EXACTLY whose side he's on----and it AINT ours, americans!!!!!

how is he gonna pay for this helathcare if he's putting BILLIONS to the MORE WARS he's already promised us. mccain can promise to buy each and every one of us a pony for our birthdays, he can TALK all he wants, but the expensive, money-blowing wars he's promised us numerous times will wipe out all available moneys. haven't we been china's b!tc# for long enough, folks!?!?! being billions of dollars in debt to foreign countries is UN-American, and that will continue with mcsame!

To Bob & Marshall: I am a Canadian and am very, very proud of our universal health care. You can call your doctor and usually see him the same day. You will wait longer for a specialist, but the most in need are moved to the front of the line. I had several catscans and four heart procedures. Everything was free including the hospital and all followup work. Our country recently had a contest to see
who
was the most popular Canadian ever. Tommy Douglas won hands down. His grandson, Keifer Sutherland from 24, came to the capital and took the award on his grandfather's behalf. Your truly capatilist Government just doesn't want you to know .

Sounds like political befuddlespeak to me. From someone who has no clue what it means to live from paycheck to paycheck and choose between food and heat. Let families be in charge of their health care? What does that mean? How would that work? How exactly is a family who has both parents working and still can't afford to buy food going to "be in charge" of their health care? Even if they get a $2000 a year tax credit, that still is not enough to pay for even 6 months of health care. It's easy to say, well, get a job that provides health care, but then who do you think is going to sell you all the stuff you buy? Who is going to clean your house or dispose of your trash? A lot of people with those jobs don't get health care with their jobs because it's so expensive to provide health care for your employees. Do you have any idea how many people there are doing that kind of work? Providing services for all of you who make enough money to live on and have $60 health care paid for by your employer? Reading these posts it is very easy to see the economic divide between people who can afford to take health care for granted and those who cannot. It's like you are speaking different languages.

He fought for your right to complain there are not enough free hand outs.

James Nelson - decent affordable healthcare is not a right. You and everyone else need to work for it if you want to have it. You sound like the typical welfare recipient. Get to work and stop spending your money on luxuries. By the way - many people in the world would consider a car, t.v., phone, electricity, running water, etc. a luxury. This country was built on the backs of hardworking people and NOTHING was considered "a right"

John we want the same health care plan YOU have!
So where are your Medical records?/ We tax payers have to pay for you with our tax dollars, we can barley afford our own!
You have a very very rich woman there, your 2nd or 3rd wife?
We want her plan too! The rich never have to worry about health care!

Senator Obama has the best plan for health care. Do what needs to be done to lower premiums so people can afford health care, make sure all children are covered and leave the government out of adults decision to buy. Hillary's plan is Socialist not Democratic, I don't want the government forcing me to buy insurance I may not want and then levy a fine on top of the premiums if I don't pay them. Hillary's plan will exempt billon dollar corporations from providing health benefits for their employees, sounds like a pay off to me.

"...one where a family has a medical home…where the focus is on affordable quality outcomes.”

Does anybody have clue what the heck that means?

Where does one find this "medical home" and how exactly does one afford "quality outcomes?" This reminds me of former Congressman Connie Mack who insisted that there was no health care crisis because members of his family had suffered from cancer and had no problem getting treatment.

WE (his employers) paid 3/4 of the cost of HIS family's health benefits! But he didn't believe it was fair to mandate help from our employers.

Universal Health Care will work if it is applied the same way Medicare and Social Security is. Workers are taxed a small amount on each paycheck. But everyone has to participate for it to work.
You go, Hillary!!

How are they going to make families pay for their health care or even the care for the children.? You have idiotic parents now who quit their jobs to keep from paying child support so how are they going to mandate parents to be responsible to pay health insurance?
I hope they have a work program that will require these parents to work to pay for these much needed benefits. Everyone does not have this level of caring for their families or children and something must be done to get them with their program!

My suggestion to all you liberals who are looking at the government to provide you healthcare.....GET A JOB WITH HEALTH/DENTAL COVERAGE

if you are incapable of doing that , my recommendation is to.....GET A JOB

if you say your job doesn't pay you enough to afford healthcare, my recommendation is to.....GET A BETTER PAYING JOB

if you say you can't find a better paying job because you are unqualified, my recommendation is to....GO TO SCHOOL

IF YOU ARE IN DEBT AND CAN'T AFFORD HEALTH INSURANCE IT IS YOUR FAULT!!!

YOU ARE THE ONE WHO MADE POOR FINANCIAL DECISIONS....NOT ME

AND ITS NOT GOING TO BE ME WHO PAYS FOR YOUR FREE HEALTH CARE BECAUSE YOU CAN'T BALANCE YOUR CHECKBOOK

MC Cain,
Look pal we see threw your phony attempt to lure people to your cause. The truth is that your not ready and you will never be ready to take the house. The problem is not yours alone , to be honest there should never be a Republican Prezz. History shows us that threw Reagan and his horrible policy's , Bush 1 and 2's horrible policy's that Republicans are very BAD for the US Economy . The proof is there , although hardcore Repubs will say its the Dems fault , we no better. Its always easy to blame someone else for your mess ups but in reality we no the truth .

More people need to watch Michael Moore's SICKO. Although it may have a liberal bias, it will never let you look at health care in America the same way again.
People can label government welfare programs as socialist or even communist all they want but the fact of the matter is it's a lot easier getting the care you need in France or in Canada for example than it is here. Private insurers are corrupt, exclusive and misleading. Their purpose is to make big money and if they can get out of helping someone if it's going the cost them lots of money, they will.

What's the point in funding a government that does little for its people? Right now most of our tax dollars go into paying for war and an endless supply of weapons that may or may not protect us in the long run... as oppose to education and science, etc...

shane H you said it well my friend. Too many want everything for free. But they want give up cable tv. Cell phones. eating out. I make less than $50,000 and have affordable health insurance. We just had a child that cost me $650.00 out of pocket that my flex account covered too. Don't want the goverment messing up my health care. Social security they say is in trouble why would I trust the goverment with my health care.

Hmmm...McCain's got no answer on Health Care. As he stated about the economy about two months ago, "American families, you are own your own!"

McCain has never had poor health care other than the years he spent as a POW. He is married to a heiress ($100 million+ net worth) who doesn't worry about money or health care like him.

Any Hillary-Democrats willing to support McBush is crazy!

Health Care....Liberal style

spoiled rotten Americans = Americans who think it is the government's responsibility to provide them health care since they can't afford it = an "Entitlement" society = spending money on unneeded luxury items instead of spending it on health insurance = lots of debt = complaining that it is the government's fault that they are in debt and have no health care insurance = media fueled claims of a health care crisis = looking to the government to provide health care for you at taxpayer expense = Democratic health care supporters = spoiled rotten Americans....

it sure is a vicious circle....it spins to the left in case you were wondering

Problems with universal health care:

1. Nothing is free, someone will have to pay for it - higher taxes or government spending cuts in other areas.
2. Competition is what drives costs down.
3. Expect long waits and less options.
4. Expect worst service and care.
5. Expect job losses from the current health care industry.

I will agree that this healthcare system needs some serious help. Why don't docs and hosptials post their prices like every other industry for example.
But Gov't healthcare?? Why? because social security, medicare and our education system has worked so well in their hands?
And lady if you think you had to wait long in the hosptial now, just wait!

I also question why liberal always hate on people that are successful. So because people have made something of themselves and can afford healthcare they are elitists? Please

Just FYI about 48% of people in this country don't pay income taxes. So that mean that 48% of the pop don't care if the rest of us are taxed to heck to pay for this stuff........

The government pays for McCain's healthcare. This is just another example of the republican party watching out for the few ceo's and their profits. It is just amazing that the republican party with the most evangelical "christian" vote is the party that most hurts poor people which the most unchristian thing to do.

But John....., why would we possibly want family members to deal with health care issues when the government can do twice as bad a job for three times the costs??

Hey looking for change...you won't be getting any of that with McBush. Obama can't win for loosing. If he responds, then HRC flips into victim mode and talks about dirty politics. If he doesn't respond, then he looks soft.

The real target here is McBush, but she is more on his side than against him. Not sure why she expects to win against him when she has spent so much time saying how great he is. The people need help because of the war, and sending so many jobs over seas (I was outsourced and I am BITTER). But what to do when so many people profit from the same evils that are tanking the rest of us?

It's headlines like this one that helps the Clinton campaign. Your headline becomes a self-fulfilling prophesy. Repeat it long and loudly enough, and people start to believe it and act accordingly. It's disappointing that CNN has now jumped on the "attack Obama" bandwagon.

I agree with Bob. The government can't do anything right so why do we want to entrust them with our healthcare??? Privatisation is best because a motive for profit ensures that costs are kept down and efficiency is higher. With a government program no one cares about efficiency and instead looks to hand big government contracts to their friends at the cost of the tax payers. The liberals are all for national healthcare because it is another handout from the government that people think they are entitled to because they will just tax the rich.
