Obama: Will you be my running mate?

WILMINGTON, North Carolina (CNN) – It's official: Barack Obama has offered the vice presidency to an 82-year-old woman.

At a town hall meeting in Wilmington, North Carolina, Monday supporter Jean Weiss stood up to ask a question and began by telling the Illinois senator that he's "captured her heart" with his foreign policy stands.

"When you said 'yes I will sit down with all my enemies, we're gonna sit around the table, we're gonna work this thing out,'" Weiss said, "sir, that was not naiveté—that was wisdom."

She then moved on to a question about water supply. "Before I answer the question," Obama said, "I just want to know–will you be my running mate?"

The crowd erupted in applause, and Weiss ran up to the stage and gave him a hug.

"That’s my running mate there," Obama said as she trotted back to her seat, her arms in the air. "She is 82 years old. She's got some fire!"

Weiss wasn't done, though, until she offered some advice on how to handle his rival Hillary Clinton.

"Don't hit on Hillary," she said. "Bring us all back. Let her do that stuff. Leave her alone, you don't need to do that. You are higher than that. Bring us up higher than that."

Unfortunately, despite the charming comments by Ms. Weiss, Sen. Obama's approach to foreigh policy is indeed very naive. He is by no means ready to solve the serious problems now facing our country.

    AMEN! AMEN! AMEN!

Obama does NOT have to stoop to Sen. Clinton's level. Hillary Clinton is shooting herself with all her gutter tactics.

The 82 years old lady is so right. Why waste your time and fight with Hillary. It's bad that the media is trying to spin the Rev. Wright speach that has nothing to do with the problems America face. Obama is higher than Hillary, that is why so many Hillary supporters on this blog speak so negative. The super's know Obama is the best choice, why do you think the repub's pushing for Hillary, so Mccain could beat her. People has to want a change for America to change and Obama is the man for it.

    Go Obama

    That's beautiful!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE our seniors...Even when they don't agree with my point of view. There's something special about someone with so much life experience telling you openly how they feel. Just fantastic!

    Ryan:

Do you recall when Regan walked out of a meeting with the USSR?
Do you recall Regans "Mr. Gorbochof, tear down this wall"?

The whole bunch of these G.. D... freaks in the above article sound and act like a bunch of actors off somewhere in lala land makeing movies.
If they are our future, thank God I'm eighty years old and will not need to suffer throuhh much of the demise they will bring to this once great nation.

An 82-year old woman with spunk & wisdom, clearly choosing a winner. Maybe she can help sway the other elderly people who can't see past his color.

this is why the young people like him. Because he is cool and he says cool things.

But beyond that he is an empty vessel with no experience.

Why do all the governors, including the North Carolina gov who is risking political suicide endorsing hillary? it's because the governors who are in charge of the destiny of their state knows who is all talk and who will follow through.

An old woman in a crowd once asked Abraham Lincoln why he would talk with his enemies. He then responded: "Mam, do we not destroy our enemies when we make them our friends?"

Well he met and talked to his pastor for 20 years and couldn't read what type of person he was, so you think he is going to be able to read how our enemies feel about us and if they are lying or telling the truth. Great, this man talks about meeting with our enemies and signing a ban on nuclear weapons. Bet when he is done, we will be the only one without a way to protect ourselves. Since he also wants to kill off our missile defense system.

  20. RACE

The only way that Obama is maintaining the lead over Clinton, is by his continued stoking of the racial fires.

If Obama is president, he would never be able to lead the country, because he would keep us all caught up in racial tensions and dissent.

Perhaps that is what his true agenda really is.

Divide and conquer the people. There was no more unified group of people than the Democrats were going into this primary.

Look at what Obama the uniter has wrought us, with his hype of hope, celebrity fest of empty promises of change.

Voters-not celebrities- know who the best candidate is.

The DNC and the party elites, should have created a FAIR playing field for both candidates, and let if up to the voters to decide.

Sweet little old ladies and impressionable young people will not get you elected. I gave you good advice. Go do your job in the Senate,
ignore Hillary and refresh your message. It is getting old and tiresome.

Even McCain put in a plug for you today and you can't even appreciate that, what's wrong with you man. Do you want to win or not.

Clinton and Co knock Obama's experience. But he has shown excellent judgement, especially when it comes to foreign policy. Opposing the Iraq war is an obvious one. But have you heard how he said he'd work with the military to get us out?

He will set a new strategic goal for the military leaders and leave it to them to determine the best methodology tactically. That is true leadership, and fits very well into what the President's role as commander-in-chief should be.

we need this kind of Leadership!

This is the man who supposedly is "not in touch with Americans"? Good for you Barack, here they are saying that you cannot connect with Seniors. American voters you have a once in a lifetime chance, to elect a human being, who can really say to you and mean it, I know how you feel, I have been there too. Now let us join forces, and build a better, more understanding, and more forgiving America, let us do this our Nation, for the rest of the world, and more importantly for our children, and generations to come!!!!!!! I really would be honoured to meet this man Barack Obama.
