Hillary Clinton would beat McCain by 9 points, a new poll shows.
(CNN) - A new poll out Monday appears to bolster Hillary Clinton's argument that she is in a better position than rival Barack Obama to beat John McCain in a general election match up.
According to a newly-released poll from The Associated Press and Ipsos, Clinton would beat McCain by a wide 9-point margin, 50 percent to 41 percent. But when Obama faces McCain, the two are statistically tied - Obama holds a two point edge over McCain, within the poll's margin of error.
The Clinton campaign has long argued the New York senator has a better shot at beating McCain because of her demonstrated appeal with working class white voters - a demographic that is key to winning several swing states.
Bush – Clinton – Bush – Clinton?
What has a great nation come to? 😦
Clinton supporters have known this all along. Obama is unelectable and unqualified to be president. There is absolutely nothing in his past of substance that would indicate he should be even running for president much less actually hold the office. If we want the White House back in November it is time to vote smart, vote Clinton.
Oh, and let's see how you fair with 8% of the African American vote if you should pull off stealing the nomination. Trying to make this about race is just ridiculous in the light of how she has alienated this key block of the Democratic vote....
"Yes She Will"? Yes she will lose to Barack Obama. Hillary, time to join the Obama camp and start chanting YES WE CAN!!!
Barack '08
Check the latest polls on Real Clear Politics and find out that Obama does better in most recent polls.
poll this and poll that. these polls don't mean anything. everyone that knows anything knows it is to early to poll the general
Obama can not win in November.
Such a shame that the only thing propelling her is negative campaigning – what a mean spirited person who will do anything to "win." In my view, the ends do not justify the means.
I am deeply deeply ashamed and dissapointed in this campaign and the primary system in general.
I have never been included in any of these polls. Let me give my opinion right here, right now....Hillary is unelectable, period. For myself, a Democrat, I will vote for Ralph Nader if Hillary gets the nomination.
my dog has a better shot than Obama
These polls swing back and forth and they only capture people that have voted in the past. They don't capture the hundreds of thousands of newly registered voters. I wouldn't give them much weight.
well sorry hillary clinton but so far the delegate race says otherwise. Lets stick to the rules and stop polling people on how they feel about cheating the election.
Once she drops out his numbers will shoot back up. There are lemmings in the voting populous that will go in whatever direction they think the crowd is going. Including over a cliff. It's always been this way. The same folks yelling hosanna in the highest on Sunday will be yelling crucify him free Barabbas on Friday!!!
the polls will flip and flop!!! let's move on..
obama is ahead and will always be ahead... hillary is trying to make an argument that media will take hold of and report... i bet obama has the superdelgates that he needs to win... we all know she will not be able to beat him in it... i bet obama is just going along, knowing that he's going to get it... he has the superdelgates in the bank!!! and hillary is the only one who are teying to get more superdelgates!!!
hillary just DROP out!!!
I am so tickled at how the polls don't seem to matter to Clintonites until they favor "Hell"ary... this is too funny.
Maybe it's me, but someone who runs a campaign into debt can't tell me diddly squat about how she can fix the economy. That's like a someone who is broke trying to tell a millionaire how to make money.
Of course Clinton skips over NC or even fails to acknowledge it. Even Clintonites are saying NC is no big deal because Obama is going to win it anyway but yet are willing to say Obama couldn't win PA when Hillary was expected to win anyway – and NOT.. get it N-O-T... by the double digits she wants to toot her horn about. How someone can go from a 33% point lead a couple of months ago to single digits and still say they have momentum is a kind of delusion that requires strict medication and 24 hour psychiatric watch.
Good for her, what a poor choice that would be for America. Bush's thrid term versus Liar Liar......
I'd like to see obama debate mc cain in the fall ! There is no way he'd win ! He 'd make the democrates look stupid and weak!
pleaseeeeee what pro hillary pundit took this poll
She has so many negatives she could never win against MCain
By the time the republicans are finished with her she will be toast
Besides 62% of the american people have an unfavorable opinion of her
Everyone knows the idiot Rush Limabaugh is sending out republicans to vote for her ..how democratic is that and there should be laws against it
They are afraid of Obama thats why they want Clinton
they know she is too disliked to ever win
not only that, any person with any intelligence know Rev wrights opinions are his own
they are* NOT the opinions or views of Obama*
Bonzo the Chimp could beat McCain!
This is only because of all the distractions going on with Barack right now. I HOPE that America sees the hypocrisy that is the Clinton brand. She has proven that she will destroy, even a fellow Democrat, in order to win the White House. Her plan is to dilute his candidacy so much that he will have no way of winning come November. This will be a sad day for America and a sad day for where our country could be heading.
America, please look at AND LISTEN to Hillary. She is NOT telling you the truth. She IS telling you what you want to hear.
If CNN were ESPN, their coverage would consist of nothing but errors and analysts trying to explain to us that by the guy STANDING NEXT to Derek Jeter missing one grounder, he himself might now miss alot of grounders from here on out and ruin his shot at the Hall of Fame.
Of course they wouldn't show us any other highlights, stats or his good plays, or tell us he's still leading the league and filling the seats with millions of new baseball fans.
That one error by his friend who doesn't even play baseball would be replayed over and over for a whole season.
Get back to the news, CNN. Now.
Yeah and next week it will be vice versa so whoopdi do we all know who is the best to beat Mccain and no poll of 2,000 is going to tell me other wise there is Three Hundred Million People in this Country when I see One Hundred and fifty million people polled then that is when i Believe you
The week before it was just the other way around ... so ?
There is no doubt that Hillary will not be able to beat McCain. She is a liability to the Democratic party. Enough said.
Hillary is a lying two-faced fake smiling sneaky witch. I'm a democrat and if she wins the nomination, McCain will definitely get my vote.
