(CNN) – North Carolina Gov. Mike Easley will endorse Hillary Clinton's White House bid, two sources close to the campaign tell CNN.
The endorsement could give the New York senator a boost in the state with one week to go until its crucial May 6 primary. Recent polling suggests Barack Obama currently holds a double-digit lead over Clinton there, though no polls have been released since Clinton’s win in Pennsylvania last week.
Easley is also a superdelegate - one of the party's nearly 800 insiders who will determine which candidate wins the Democratic nomination. Earlier Monday, the Obama campaign announced it had picked up its own superdelegate endorsement, New Mexico Sen. Jeff Bingaman.
This is huge, and finally the tide is turning for Sen Clinton and Sen Obama's hope & change message not sitting with people anymore. His speech is old, used many times over and over again and boring now. Where is his inspirational message now?? Where are all those young people who were always behind him in all those speeches?
By the way, HOPE and CHANGE are not policies and it may actually do him good to debate Sen Clinton before May 6th.
This is GREAT NEWS for our gal Hillary! This governor knows she's the better candidate!
If she can take Indiana AND NC, well, that's more than any of us dared hope for!
Wow wow wow!!
You go girl!!
We've seen this type of endorsement play out time and time again. Obviously the governor does not have too many followers in the State House because just recently 43 house reps. and other prominent people in the State has endorsed Senator Barack Obama. So I don't think this has too much weight. He is part of the Clinton machine.
Hopefully he changes his mind before any real announcement is made, don't see how anyone can throw their support behind her when she is behind in every voting category and lies to the american ppl.
How come Candy Crowley is not mentioning that Gov. Mike Easley has endorsed Hillary Rodham Clinton???? until Wolf Blitzer enquired about it from Candy Crowley??? Well we have a giant professional in Mr. Schneider, when it comes to Real politik! Good job Mr. Schneider, for the unbiased journalism.Keep it up.This is on a verbatim report by Ms Crowley,on CNN at about 6.05pm on 4/28/08!!
Yeah....Vote for Hillary, it is a NO-BRAINER!
She can't beat Barack by HERSELF!!! She is 'strong' ONLY with GOVERNOR's machine behind her ... It's time to see the REAL Clinton – without the machine!! How many votes they will give her? How many fabricated results we should see before she is kicked out of the race?
Hey CNN, you should check also OTHER polls, published today and see that Obama leads Clinton with 9 points, and he also leads McCain with 7, and she is behind McCain by 4 points.. Don't give us only polls in Clinton's favor... Look at Rasmussen Tracking today!!!!! APRIL 28.
I dont think Edwards will go against his wife and endorse Obama. She wanted Universal health care to be implemented.
Thank you Governor..Go Hillary...
MARIE. YOUR JUST ANOTHER JEALOUS LITTLE GIRL, LIKE THE REST OF YOU CLINTON HATERS. SHOULD BE PROUD OF A WOMAN LEADER, BUT YOUR DISRESPECTFULL , HATER AND A LITTLE JEALOUS PUP. ALL YOU YOUNG NOWDAYS THAT SUPPORT O.B. AND HATE ON THE CLINTONS ARE SHOWING THIS COUNTRY WHAT THE FUTURE BRINGS. I REALLY FEEL SORRY FOR YOU LOOSER'S. GOD HELP THIS COUNTRY.
Hillary/Edwards 08 all the way.
They're two of the same!!1 Obama believe us in NC, you didn't want this ENDORSEMENT!!! 9 news organizations in NC are sueing Easley and accusing him and his administration of violating the state public records law by deleting, destroyingand concealing e-mails sent to and from his office. Read more @ wral.com. Type in this clowns name Mike Easley!! Another reason to vote for OBAMA '08
Good job Hillary only 300 more to go. At this rate you will be President in about 100 years.
CNN–Why isnt this a HEADLINE??? When Obama gets an endorsement it's IN BIG BOLD LETTERS!
Hopefully the voters of NC will follow the lead of their Governor!
If Obama gets the nomination, I will use a WRITE IN VOTE and vote for the ONLY persons who should be President – – HILLARY!
Hillary in 08.
I think that this is an important endorsement. First, it goes against the polls in North Carolina, which means that the Governor is thinking past this primary to what he thinks is best for the country. That is stand up politics on his part. Second, he is thinking past this primary and looking at what he needs to win in a contest against the Republicans, which is what all those who vote in this election need to think about. I just don't think Obama can win.
Hillary and husband clinton have succeeded in Bulling all the super delegades. They prefer not to endorse anybody, or endorse Obama and face what happened to Bill Richardson. This couple is the best bully i have never seen
Another Governor looking for a job behind the beltway next year but I doubt Obama will hire him.
Finally the snakeoil salesman is revealed. 20yrs of a fanatical pastor who baptized your kids, married you and you mean to tell me you don't share his views??! Don't take Americans for fools. NOBAMA NOWAY!
Actually, CNN, TWO polls have been released out of North Carolina since Pennsylvania.
Both show Obama LOSING ground there. He went from a 25 point lead a week and a half ago to a 10/12 point lead now.
Why do I know more than CNN???
Young RaleighVoter – We can yell your young with a comment like that!
Go Hillary 2008
A slimer of hope for HRC in a sea of desperate moves.
Hopefully, this endorsement will help North Carolina residents see that Hillary is the better choice. She is a strong democratic candidate and the best challenger to take on McCain in the general election.
dont agree but atleast he made it know instead of sitting on his butt
No you won't jimmy!
