Clinton calls Wright comments 'offensive and outrageous'

 Clinton sharply criticized Wright Wednesday.

Clinton sharply criticized Wright Wednesday.

(CNN) - Hillary Clinton said Wednesday she personally took offense to the Rev. Jeremiah Wright's recent comments, the New York senator’s harshest assessment yet of Barack Obama's former minister.

"I think it’s offensive and outrageous. I’m going to express my opinion, others can express theirs," Clinton told Fox’s Bill O'Reilly. "It is part of just, you know, an atmosphere we’re in today.”

The comments appear to be a shift in Clinton’s tone on the matter. On Tuesday she criticized Republican presidential nominee John McCain for not doing enough to stop Republican ads running in North Carolina and Mississippi that feature Wright's comments.

"I regret the efforts by the Republicans to politicize this matter," Clinton said of the ad.

Speaking at the National Press Club Monday, Wright did not back down from some of his controversial remarks, including those that seemed to suggest the U.S. government might be responsible for the spread of AIDS among African-Americans, and his equation of U.S. wartime efforts with terrorism.

Wright also said Obama was acting like a politician in denouncing his controversial sermons.

Speaking with reporters Tuesday, Obama said he was outraged with Wright's latest comments.

"What particularly angered me was his suggestion somehow that my previous denunciation of his remarks were somehow political posturing," Obama said, adding that Wright had shown "little regard for me" and seemed more concerned with "taking center stage."

Obama also said Wright's comments were not only "divisive and destructive," but they "end up giving comfort to those who prey on hate."

Obama has great judgement, right? Isn't this why he wants to be president? Wright is a joke! Obama will lose this election because he actually has terrible judgement!

If any of the obama followers actually heard the sermons in their entirety, you would not care what hillary saying. you'd be more worried about Obama's throwing wright under a bus since it became politically expedient. Wright on monday took even himself out of context for who knows what reason. And I'm not even an Obama supporter.

Obama will not win the GE. This will still be the issue and it will not go away. Obama = Wright. This will be his waterloo....believe me.

Hillary's Pastor was charged with Child molestation, does that make a child molester? It seems as if everything or anything a pastor or priest opens their mouth to say is attributed to a member of the congregation...that is really pathetic...too much double standard.....

She's right though, he is offensive. Wright made those offensive comments a long time ago and yet Obama only denounced him after Wright started attacking him personally and his poll numbers started slipping. He's full of crap!

Hillary is indeed devious and hypocritical. She does not know it because she has been living that way for so long. O'Bama does not have the experience to be president. Also if he did not realize who the Rev Wright really was after 20 years then he is not sufficiently astute for the job. As for Mc Cain he is too old to wait 100 years for the Iraq war to stop. Ron Paul is the only candidate but he will never be president. What should I do?

You make me completely sick to my stomach Hillary!!!!

That stinking husband of your got a BJ from a 22 year old intern IN THE OVAL OFFICE and your take on that is that it's nobody's business. But on the other hand we should all vote against Barrack Obama because of the church he goes to.

I cannot believe that anybody would have reality to twisted in their minds as to think we should vote for the Clintons TO AVOID SCANDEL!!!!

Poor Obama has been going to church for twenty years. Reverand Wright would wait until Obama was absent and then start preaching hatred toward white people and America. When Obama went to church Wright would preach about salvation and loving your enemies. He married him and his wife. He baptized his children. Poor poor Obama. What a tragedy. The wiked Revereand Wright was waiting of this opportunity to get national attention to preach his beliefs to millions of people . Poor poor Obama was duped by his own pastor.

Hillary was commenting on Rev Wright's recent remarks. They were offensive remarks. The disrespect from some of you scares me more than our current administration. Hillary deserves respect.

To all Obama supporters!!! Obama did not move on for 20 years . Why do you think America should forget this so fast. Maybe because their is no way people will believe this is the first time he heard this trash from Wright.

    Wonders never cease!
    Hillary will never shut up!
She goes on FOX network, the most biased network and discuss Rev. Wright. White voters wake up, this lady is trying to play games.

I think she is trying to play the Religious/Race card with the Republican party. She wants them to see her as the White Christian Answer that teh Republican right is looking for. She will next say she will repent from her "Billary Ways if they vote for her" Next she will be spouting Republican slogans.

She is doing just what it takes to win, attracking Relgious and Racial biggots on the Republican right.

The nerve of you people to blame Hillary for bringing up Rev. Wright. I think everyone of you that posted a comment so far are not being realistic. Anytime there's something that's not favorable for OBAMA, you blame Hillary, He borught this on himself. Obama discussed this with Rev. Wright last year that he may have to denounce him if he win the Primary. Look like he had to do before winning the Primary. He tried but failed. AFTER HE GET THE NOMINEE I GUESS HE'LL TURN ON YOU TO. CAN'T BE TRUSTED.

If Rev. Wright is so offensive, why did Hill and Bill swoon all over him at his several visits to the White House? Why did Bill specifically call on Wright to "counsel" him after the Lewinsky and impeachment mess? Hmmm, Hill and Bill wouldn't choose their friends based on how it will profit them at that particular political moment, now would they?

We would have more respect for you Obama supporters if you would stop being ignorant and blaming Hillary or Bill for all of Obama""s problems. He brought all of them on himself because of his arrogance and inexperience. you have created an egotistical man who does not know whether he wants to be a rock star or American idol. Wake up and smell the coffee–he need to react faster and with better judgment when that 3 am phone rings as it has several times in this election. A President needs to think on his feet–not mull it over for months for popularity sake.

Am I swayed by the WRIGHT stuff? NO!! I am swayed by the RIGHT stuff.

A gas “tax holiday" for the months of summer is a feel good election ploy that Hillary is borrowing from McSame and is a financial support (welfare) to the oil companies who are already raking in earth shaking profits. Obama is showing courage by telling people the truth and not what they want to hear. What Hillary and McSame are saying about “tax holiday” is like trying to fix a crack on Hoover Dam with an ABC-Gum (Already Been Chewed gum).
