Mum's the word for Michelle on Rev. Wright

CNN

Listen to the Obama's remarks Wednesday.

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana (CNN) –- Democrat Barack Obama's wife Michelle chose silence Wednesday when the couple were asked about recent comments made by their former pastor, and the harsh words Sen. Obama had for him Tuesday.

In a question-and-answer session with voters, the two were asked what kind of toll it takes on them to have to turn their backs on someone who had been good to them in the past.

Sen. Obama responded first, saying he "made a statement yesterday that was hard to make."

"What we want to do now though is to make sure that this doesn’t continue to be a perpetual distraction," he said.

Then he turned to his other half.

"Michelle, do you have anything to add to that?" After a brief hesitation he said, "You do, but..." He stopped and smiled as she shook her head.

The audience laughed.

"Remember, there are a lot of reporters around," he said, joining in the laughter.

Watch Michelle Obama speak out tonight in an interview with CNN's Suzanne Malveaux at 8:20 p.m. ET, with an extended version airing at on AC 360 at 10 p.m. ET

There is no reason for further comment. Let's move on to real issues here, please.

    CNN,

You currently have 4 tickers up right now about Rev. Wright. Zero up about healthcare, gas, the economy, Iraq.

You should change your little CNN slogan to read:

    Issue #1: Rev. Wright.

    Please move on...please!

I hope this does not distract the public for electing a great candidate. We can't keep election the same Washington Politicians and somehow expect a different result. Washington is not working. It is time for a change in a American.

Why is she shutting her big trap now. Before the Wright fiasco she couldn't keep her trap shup about how "America that isn't black" still had ways to go before black people could get respect. Now that Wright has shown Obama's true colors she doesn't say anything. How interesting.......so much for "change and hope". Like I always say, sooner or later your lies will come out. Now Obama is trying to insult the American people's intelligence by giving another one of his speeches/lectures that he never heard or new anything that Wright said or was. Obama's views and lies are a coming home to roost!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What is 'the real' story with Wright & Obama?

We would rather now know than later.

I'm not trying to be mean, but She is probably mad at americans again, and knows better to speak out. By Obama saying theres alot of reporters around gives us her answer. I wonder if she was not a member of the church before she met obama? we know what she thinks of this country and its not nice.

Barack has answered all the questions again, & again and again. Who does he have to convince now? This is just so unbelieveable to put him thru this over & over again. He has denounced Rev Wright. Lets get over it. Move On With CHANGE WE CAN BELIEVE IN.

Michelle Obama is completely in sync with Whrite.
Look at her face, listen to her speech – just one angry woman.
If not only her husband ran for president she would continjue sittin at this church because I am sure she supports Wrights in each his word.
    Poor Michelle!

Michelle Obama should be cautious; I smell a trap. Barack Obama has put this issue to bed and I feel as though they should discuss only issues pertinent to being married to the next Democratic nominee for the President of the United States of America. Anything else should be off the agenda. She really should have never agreed to the interview; not until after SC.

    Go Barack 08

Michelle Obama is so annoying. Her "I was proud of my country for the first time in my adult life" comment was the epitome of dumb (if for no other reason, because it hurt Barack) and was one of the first instances in a mounting body of evidence that the Obama campaign harbors some feelings about our country that are out of line with the mainstream. Are the Obamas (and others) wrong? Not necessarily. But when you are running for president, you kind of are relying on 60 million or more people to vote for you, so please grow a brain and show some discretion!

I think that was a good answer and a good move by the Obamas.
This sort of questions is not going to go away so easily.
The media or press and your opponents are going to take any opportunity too try and distract you.

Stay focus and be grounded with the breastplate of righteousnes.
There are more jabs coming your way.
Your main focus now is to move on and do your best to bring this campaign to a close. Talk about the issues.
The high gas prices, the home foreclosures, the health care system, the war in Iraq (bring our troops home) and the economy.

    GO GET THEM OBAMA.

What baffles me about this whole thing is why Wright is getting as much attention as the presidential candidates themselves. He is not running for president so America doesn't have to worry about him being in charge of the country. It was established from the outset that Obama isn't Wright, and couldn't possibly share any racist views as a bi-racial person. Please find something else to obsess over in the pursuit of ratings.

Based on her Rhetoric, she was heavily influenced by Rev. Wright. There should be more vetting of her. She strikes me as dangerous.

More pampering through these difficult times for the Obama camp. Must be difficult to throw your pastor and friend of twenty years under the bus; like Obama's grandmother last time the Wright issue came up – we know all the intricate details by now. I know Roland and the CNN crew have embraced the Obamas and Rev. Wright and follow-up is in order. However, the true female of interest in these primaries is Hillary Clinton and I will be following her surging campaign on a different network at 8 tonight, should be exciting.
Sorry CNN. I need to stay awake tonight.

She should have kept her mouth shut a long time ago. Obama is not qualified and he is unelectable. We need experience now more then ever. If we truly want to win the White House in November it is time to vote smart. Vote Clinton.

    Hey Mr. Welch,

Where did you get your degree in journalism?

Yep, a lot of reporters around, and boy do we know how lame those reporters have become.

Hey Wolf! Hey Jack! Hey all of you with supposedly some journalistic expertise!

How about reporting on what matters?
Ask about Iraq, gas prices and tax schemes, ask about GI Bill reform, ask about immigration reform, ask about globalization pros/cons, ask about torture, ask about the death "penalty," ask about health care for unemployed students paying outrageous amounts on tuition, ask about donations from trans-national corporations, ask about SOMETHING that matters to people's actual lives and stop misleading those who seem to think Wright's opinions will have any real affect on the course our nation takes in 2009.

God, ask ANY legitimate question already. You all are pathetic.

OH IF YOUR PRIEST MOLEST ED CHILDREN FOR YEARS THAT MEANS YOU HAVE BEEN INFLUENCE BY THEM.

People have not forgotten her remarks about not being proud of her country. She would do well to continue to keep a very low profile for the remainder of this campaign.
