Mum's the word for Michelle on Rev. Wright

CNN

Listen to the Obama's remarks Wednesday.

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana (CNN) –- Democrat Barack Obama's wife Michelle chose silence Wednesday when the couple were asked about recent comments made by their former pastor, and the harsh words Sen. Obama had for him Tuesday.

In a question-and-answer session with voters, the two were asked what kind of toll it takes on them to have to turn their backs on someone who had been good to them in the past.

Sen. Obama responded first, saying he "made a statement yesterday that was hard to make."

"What we want to do now though is to make sure that this doesn’t continue to be a perpetual distraction," he said.

Then he turned to his other half.

"Michelle, do you have anything to add to that?" After a brief hesitation he said, "You do, but..." He stopped and smiled as she shook her head.

The audience laughed.

"Remember, there are a lot of reporters around," he said, joining in the laughter.

Watch Michelle Obama speak out tonight in an interview with CNN's Suzanne Malveaux at 8:20 p.m. ET, with an extended version airing at on AC 360 at 10 p.m. ET

    Michelle is right!!!
Today marked the 7-month that violence has escalated in Iraq! I guess the media isn't interested in that story. Today almost 500,000 plus U.S. Citizens have had to face home foreclosures. I guess the media isn't interested in that story as well. Today Iran put a halt to the sale of oil to the U.S. because they said the dollar is too weak. And Iran is also pressuring the OPEC nations to join them. I would've thought the media would think this story is important to U.S. citizens considering all the talk about oil tax and the economy in the upcoming summer months. This is what Sen. Obama is talking about when he points to the fact that in every election cycle the MSM and politicians engage in the body politic like some sporting event, instead of the life altering impact the wrong decisions have on this country and the rest of the world. It is very sad that the world is watching this nation become a shell of its promise of a true Democracy. They are looking at how MSM is hijacking the electoral process, along with bought and paid for politicians. It has to be quite perplexing to see CNN cover elections in Pakistan and critique the process, when they are part of the very problem why things don't change right here in this country.

It's interesting how people are sympathetic towards the Obamas.

Has anyone given a though to the fact how could they bear the sermons of a maniac who when speaks spews nothing but hate, unless they approve at least the emotions underlying that speech.

Why didn't senator Obama give his much celebrated speech on race earlier, to the members of this church? Because it didn't serve his any votes. Now he needs to win over all Americans, and so the big drama.

No one in this race is clean. They're all the same, some just better trained than others at handling the top post.

That is called using restraint, which many should be doing. Once again, Sen. Obama and his wife Michelle, lead by example during this media frenzied circus.

why was it had for him, obama, to make the statment he made? He either agrees wright is wrong or he thinks wright is ok. Seems to me Obama really agrees with wright. If he did not there should'nt be a problem. And why would he not let the little lady talk? He has not shut her up before. You can not blame this on Hillry or McCain. All this is Obama's doing. His lies are coming out. The only thing the media did was help him get this far by not printing the truth. There is more to come people. It has just started.

Yeah, because it's funny, right, Mr. Obama? Just a funny distraction that you can get sarcastic about – you must have really been upset about it at your version of a pulpit then? Or was that yet another act? You're a hypocrite and you're asking the democratic party to commit political suicide by voting for you. Go home and take your racist wife with you.

The Obama's aren't the victims in all this......they knew exactly what their pastor was selling and guess what they bought it. They just try to fool the American people into thinking they are the one's hurt.

It's over for Obama he can not win PERIOD!

I'm with Mike on this was all staged. Nice try, but no sell!

She probably agrees with Wright...her quotes seem more Wright-like than they do Obama-like...

She is probably the reason they went to that church.

How is Obama dividing blacks? This is a non issue. This is exactly what Obama wants to change about American Politics. So many people are wrapped up in issues that have nothing to do with Obama and it will affect their judgement. Some people have even went as far as saying they would vote for McCain who said he would continue Bush's tax policies and the war in Iraq if Obama wins and that's stupid. The media should be ashamed of themselves. The reason the media exists is for the people. To give an unbiased account of information both domestic and foreign. Instead you have them feeding into this Rev. Wright topic that has nothing to do with the well being of us as Americans. Wake up America! If this so called division in the Democratic party causes McCain to get elected then shame on us as Americans for not doing what's best for us and our children.

Its a pity that the Obamas found it harder to make a statement against wright than it was to throw his grandmother under the bus but then again she was according to her a grandson a typical white woman. If you read Michelle obamas thesis she concluded that she didn't want to be drawn into the white community, she wanted to devote her time to the black community, she has made disparaging remarksabout hillary clinton and stated that america was mean and that since her husband was running for president its the first time she has been really proud of her country. This is not the type of person you want as first lady

I'm sure given her past comments, she still supports the Rev Wright. She seems as hate filled and anti-American as he does. How could she say anything bad about him, she's said the same things as he has. Birds of a feather.....

Its good time for Michelle to be silent, she is very out spoken, and in the heat of the moment she would let America know what she really thinks. She is, in my opinion a very hard woman, and does not appear one that would lie to save face. I know she needs to prepare herself to voice her thoughts on Wright. He is in fact, still their pastor.

Ann Coulter sums it up: "If it takes Obama 20 years to notice that his pastor is a traitorous, racist nut-job, it will probably take him his full term of office to realize that the U.S. has been invaded and subdued by al-Qaida.

I am and independent voter that voted for Obama in P.A. but now i am back on the fence, After i have seen how Barrack tryed to close the Wright controversy. He is running on closing caps and crossing racial and polictical lines. this is not a good start, breaking off from his own pastor of 20 years. To me this shows that he will do anything or say to win and that hes just another politician not who he first seemed to be.

It may be time that Barack reaches below his rhetoric and start the smear tactics. I'm fairly sure this is NOT what he wants, but the bigger picture is more important.

There is ample fodder... It would be as sad as watching this Wright non-issue.

What type of nation and people are we? Intentionally ignorant, poorly educated, money grubbing "I got mine, you go get your own even if I only need 10% of what I have," society.

What have we come too? That we, as a nation, have allowed this to occur is beyond disgraceful. Rigged elections, ego-centric leaders, stupidity at the upper levels of world leadership, and fear.

Fear, fear, fear! Watch-out, your shadow may be a terrorist!

We allow torture here in the USA. We have occupied another county (like Sadam in Kuwait) against thier will for no reason. Oh my lord... what have we come too?

I'm ashamed of America. Moreover, I'ma ashamed of of myself. I didn't try hard enough, I know I could have done more. What have I allowed? What have we allowed?

The phrase "God bless America" takes on new meaning today. Today it's a plea for help, no longer a joyous acknowledgement of a wonderful country.

Senator Obama told everyone on yesterday that they as a family had separted from Rev. Wright. At some point very soon – I hope that we all including the media can move on.

One thing that I know and everyone who is saying negative things about the Obama's should know – when the Lord is for you the world can't do you no harm.

Why – Omama – Grow some courage and slam this piece of S***. The longer you wait to act, the weaker you are. If you can't stand up to a lunatic reverend, how can you stand up to a terrorist?

Actually, the both of them are better off keeping mum....every time they do say something somebody else disappears under the bus...first his white grandmother (which he tossed in favor of wright) then "typical white" people in general, then small town blue collar workers and now wright goes under too. This is such an issue because he has NO track record to go by. I wonder if the campaigns started today – how many delegates he would no longer have....possibly less than John Edwards.

The more we get to know him the less we like him for sure.
