Clinton to Congress: You’re either with us or against us

JEFFERSONVILLE, Indiana (CNN) – After several days of back and forth between Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama over whether a summer-long elimination of the gas tax would help or hurt, Clinton took a hard line, asking her colleagues in Congress to take sides.

“I believe it would be important to get every member of Congress on record,” Clinton told supporters at a rally in southern Indiana. “Do they stand with the hard-pressed Americans who are trying to pay their gas bills at the gas station or do they once again stand with the oil companies?

“I want to know where people stand and I want them to tell us, are they with us or against us when it comes to taking on the oil companies?” she added.

The “with us or against us” line wasn’t the only George W. Bush reference Thursday evening. Telling a story about Republicans crossing party lines and whispering their support to her, Clinton said, “It’s kind of like a little bit of a confessional when somebody comes and says, ‘You know I voted for George Bush, and I’m really sorry.’”

Obama used to tell a similar story that drew laughs about people whispering to him that they’re Republicans but are in his camp. Also whispering, he would respond, “Thank you, but why are we whispering?”

Commending Clinton in Jeffersonville for her ability to reach across the aisle to Republicans, renowned environmentalist Robert F. Kennedy Jr. introduced Clinton who holds what used to be his father’s New York seat in the Senate.

“This is a leader who is going to be one of the most extraordinary presidents in our history,” Kennedy told the crowd after mentioning that this election has split his politically famous family.

“You may know that there’s some members of my family who’ve decided to do the wrong thing and support Barack Obama,” said Kennedy. “Our family is divided, and our party is divided and the reason we’re divided is because we have two extraordinary candidates both running for president both who will make unbelievable presidents.”

If tabling the gas tax til August or November gives us a zero payback then okay. That is not what you are saying. Delayed taxes compounded daily doubles and triples even quadrples upon due dates. Just ask the folks with credit card indebtedness.
Again, you are not giving the American simple-minded small town folks the REAL DEAL. Shame on you! Why are you gouging our eyes out? We did not scorn you – You did that to yourself!
OBAMA is right on this issue! You and McCain are not standing in Truth for all Americans. Y'all are making the rantings of Reverend J. Wright come forth as prophetic utterances.
Shape up! Bow out! Take McCain, Billary, and Chelsea with you!

Why is no one talking about the case in LA Superior Court of Paul vs Clinton??? If this were Obama or McCain the pundits would be gasping, " a presidential candidate in the middle of a lawsuit that went all the way to the CA Supreme Court and ruled against a potential President of the USA" !!!!

A date for trial to begin is Fall 2008!! If anyone thinks Hillary can be elected when the public finds out about another case against the Clintons is "suspending disbelief"....and I voted for Bill Twice!!

No wonder the Clintons cost the Democrats control of the Senate, Representatives, and Governors when BIll was president.

The Clintons are trying to destroy everyone.

Every Democratic super delegate take notice. Hillary is trying to destroy the party.

I believe that Senator Clinton is the best nominee for the Democratic Party. She is tough and we need tough to help us solve all of the problems that we have in this country. Senator Clinton has been able to work well with Democrats and Republicans.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr is a breath of fresh air.

Ted Kennedy is part of that old style Washington politics that Mr. Obama would like to get rid of so what's he doing welcoming him in to his fold. Could it be that his money was too much to refuse?

Hillary has the people on her side and she is on their side.

Does it remind everyone of something ? The same phrase used by Bush when he attacked Iraq, a war that was unnecessary and costed us in both lives and money. Hillary uses the same tactics on congress. She voted for the war just like Bush wanted, and agreed with Bush on everything. She has poor judgement. I am a republican but i will be voting President Obama in November, we need a president that will tell the American people the truth. Hillary & McCain are just playing political games with this gas tax holiday. Everyone knows this, and this is not to help the people get over by the Summer, it's to help them win the election. Only Obama had the courage to tell the truth to the AMerican people, which is why i have switched parties, and will be voting for him in November. Democrats, Independents and yes Republicans all united for President Obama, the greatest coalition in American politics, we will win in November. Obama 2008

There she goes. Whining and demanding again. This woman is unable to deal with the fact that others don't always jump on the band wagon with every issue she comes up with. A rather spoiled brat attitude I think. This woman scares me. I don't trust her. Her thirst for power is frightening.

Is Hillary REALLY trying to commit congress to weigh-in on whether or not they are with her or not? Is this a rhetorical question? MISTAKE, Hillary! Nancy Pelosi has weighed-in and she thinks your Republican idea along with John McCain's is utterly ridiculous. Do you really want others to weigh-in as well so that it will serve to once again show how shallow your judgement is? WAIT! I tell you what, please get some rest so that your 3:00 a.m. fatigue will de-cloud your judgement in order for you to really understand your madness. You're high from sleep deprivation.

So if both of them would make an unbeleivable president, why say some of your family members did the wrong thing by supporting barack Obama.. Is this guy nuts or something?

    Amazing!

Let's hope that Congress is smarte enough to see through Hillary's game and NOT vote for a reversal on the federal gas tax.

Economists must be screaming over this proposal!

Does this mean she doesn't have a good command of Econ 101?
