Clinton to Congress: You’re either with us or against us

JEFFERSONVILLE, Indiana (CNN) – After several days of back and forth between Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama over whether a summer-long elimination of the gas tax would help or hurt, Clinton took a hard line, asking her colleagues in Congress to take sides.

“I believe it would be important to get every member of Congress on record,” Clinton told supporters at a rally in southern Indiana. “Do they stand with the hard-pressed Americans who are trying to pay their gas bills at the gas station or do they once again stand with the oil companies?

“I want to know where people stand and I want them to tell us, are they with us or against us when it comes to taking on the oil companies?” she added.

The “with us or against us” line wasn’t the only George W. Bush reference Thursday evening. Telling a story about Republicans crossing party lines and whispering their support to her, Clinton said, “It’s kind of like a little bit of a confessional when somebody comes and says, ‘You know I voted for George Bush, and I’m really sorry.’”

Obama used to tell a similar story that drew laughs about people whispering to him that they’re Republicans but are in his camp. Also whispering, he would respond, “Thank you, but why are we whispering?”

Commending Clinton in Jeffersonville for her ability to reach across the aisle to Republicans, renowned environmentalist Robert F. Kennedy Jr. introduced Clinton who holds what used to be his father’s New York seat in the Senate.

“This is a leader who is going to be one of the most extraordinary presidents in our history,” Kennedy told the crowd after mentioning that this election has split his politically famous family.

“You may know that there’s some members of my family who’ve decided to do the wrong thing and support Barack Obama,” said Kennedy. “Our family is divided, and our party is divided and the reason we’re divided is because we have two extraordinary candidates both running for president both who will make unbelievable presidents.”

Three arduous months later and she's finally succeeded in doing the only thing she was capable of doing after Super Tuesday... turning this primary race into a quagmire, effectively grinding the Democratic party's momentum to a halt. She should be ashamed of herself.

Hillary Clinton is a pathetic loser.

Wait, by choosing to help the government dig itself out of this deficit that results in us borrowing money from China and then shipping it to Saudi Arabia, we want to use the tax to develop alternative fuels, but we're siding with Big Oil?

Oh and the first post above has already been debunked. The guy has already been proven to be a liar. It is probably Paul who posted it. That is why the MSM is not reporting it. They would be no better than the National Enquirer if they did.

Hillary Clinton proves that she doesn't understand economics, and neither does McCain. If this "plan" was implemented, it wouldn't do anything to reduce our oil consumption over the next few years. The problem would still be there, disguised as something to benefit taxpayers. She is trying to sell this plan to take advantage of people who are hurting, while removing a critical source of money that actually keeps roads well-maintained and functioning. We deserve much better than candidates like Clinton or McCain who would run the country into the ground.

Hillary Clinton's interview by Bill O'Reilly of Fox News was absolutely great. If the voters of this country lose this unique opportunity to elect her as president, then I shudder about what is going to happen to it and us. A group of citizens were asked tonight to name Obama's accomplishments and John McCain's accomplishments. NOT ONE PERSON OUT OF A DOZEN COULD NAME ONE THING for Barack Obama. Folks that's sad. Forget the Reverend Wright, and all those so-called super-delegates. Barack Obama is not the person to be president of the United States. If he couldn't confront his preacher over a 20 year period, how in God's name will he be able to stand up to Iran's prime minister, or members of Hamas terrorists. I hope voters will think about what we're getting ourselves into and act before it's too late. Let's elect a Democrat - but not Barack Obama. Hillary is the candidate that we need now.

    Anon

    You have a tough opponent

What the voters should be concerned about is that Hillary has a formidable machine working for her. Call it THE PRESS OR THE MEDIA WHATEVER just like a banana republic. Never saw such a fanaticism. I am writing a book and kept lot of newspapers and record lot of videos with all the dates. It is just INCREDIBLE. I am going to try to get informations in some other countries like France, Great Britain ... to see if they ever had such a phenomenon.

Your either for 300,000 highway construction workers losing their jobs or keeping them.

Hillary and McCain in bed together on this one to lay off workers and make Americans think that is a good thing for them. Amazing!

I don't see where the Clinton gas tax elimination would be taking on big oil, the tax goes to our government not big oil. It would only hurt our government and increase our debt. I could see alot of ways big oil might benfit and make more $.

Just Clinton once again say anything do anything to win.

OH, Hillary... Do you really think invoking Bush's "with us or against us" line is a good idea?

I was on her side back when all this started, then I switched to Obama because he has a better chance of beating McCain... Now, I'm actually starting to dislike her.

    A lot.

Hillary you need to go set down. Why keep asking for something congress think is stupid. Don't lower my gas tax now and then raise them later. You will get a good kick in the butt. You and Bill are nothing but a bunch of con artist living off of the poor people. Go away Hillary you have lost my vote and respect for you. I am for Obama.

Robert Jr's comment doesn't make sense if he believes that two candidates are extraordinary, why would half of his family supporting Obama be the wrong thing?

Not sure who is more like Bush, Hillary or McCain...Last week she goes on a tirade about "obliterating" Iran and this week says "you are either with us or against us", another dispacable Bush legacy.

Can even SHE figure out what she stands for these days (other than becoming the first female president at any cost)?

She's so fake. She knows her proposal is bad and now tries to put anyone that opposes the idea in "against people" category. This woman will say anything to be elected. But the sadest part is that some people believe her and I have to admit she has talent in manipulating people and clouding their judgement.
