Clinton to Congress: You’re either with us or against us

JEFFERSONVILLE, Indiana (CNN) – After several days of back and forth between Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama over whether a summer-long elimination of the gas tax would help or hurt, Clinton took a hard line, asking her colleagues in Congress to take sides.

“I believe it would be important to get every member of Congress on record,” Clinton told supporters at a rally in southern Indiana. “Do they stand with the hard-pressed Americans who are trying to pay their gas bills at the gas station or do they once again stand with the oil companies?

“I want to know where people stand and I want them to tell us, are they with us or against us when it comes to taking on the oil companies?” she added.

The “with us or against us” line wasn’t the only George W. Bush reference Thursday evening. Telling a story about Republicans crossing party lines and whispering their support to her, Clinton said, “It’s kind of like a little bit of a confessional when somebody comes and says, ‘You know I voted for George Bush, and I’m really sorry.’”

Obama used to tell a similar story that drew laughs about people whispering to him that they’re Republicans but are in his camp. Also whispering, he would respond, “Thank you, but why are we whispering?”

Commending Clinton in Jeffersonville for her ability to reach across the aisle to Republicans, renowned environmentalist Robert F. Kennedy Jr. introduced Clinton who holds what used to be his father’s New York seat in the Senate.

“This is a leader who is going to be one of the most extraordinary presidents in our history,” Kennedy told the crowd after mentioning that this election has split his politically famous family.

“You may know that there’s some members of my family who’ve decided to do the wrong thing and support Barack Obama,” said Kennedy. “Our family is divided, and our party is divided and the reason we’re divided is because we have two extraordinary candidates both running for president both who will make unbelievable presidents.”

This makes me so disgusted with Hillary who I've already lost all respect for.... this is just a game for her to dupe the average person to feel like she cares about them... this gas tax vacation may actually increase gas prices it may end up saving nothing... it is an election game to win votes and I wish all of her colleagues would 'just say no'. I need a break but I need a 'real' break and this just won't cut it.

    Hillary 2008 and 2012! :)

Obama cannot win the general election. It took him 20 years to figure out what his pastor was saying or so he wants us to believe? Either way, he has a huge credibility/judgment problem.

And, who wants to jump from far right to the far left anyway? That is not where this country is!

You play like you are for us and you play us like puppets i just read this story and i was shocked by you. I thought you were really sincere and cared more about the american people than you did.

You have gone to far with me now i stuck by you when your told the lie about the sniper fire.
I stuck by you when you set your campaingn people and staff to go after obama with the wright story that was kinda clever of you but they found out and i still stayed with you.

I stayed with you when you said you would oblitherate Iran – that would have caused another big messy war and today I read that they Iran did not take to your statement to kindly.

but Hillary I was your number one fan then I read THIS and all hell broke lose. So I need to tell you Goodbye

Why is this not being reported folks we need to get on the bolgs in IN and NC and flood the blogs with this.

I dont believe they are not reporting this and they kept us flooded with the rev wright stuff for two months are they in their pockets or What?

Do the clintons buy everybody with their promises until they get what they want from you seems like thats what they did to Paul huuummm.

After reading this article I don't trust NOTHING they say or said. She was in on the nasty stuff with Bill thats why she stayed. they told monica they would give her somwe money if she played along in their sick game and then thet screwed her again thats why she told it.
READ THIS: "In the landmark civil fraud case against Bill Clinton in Los Angeles, where the former President is charged with defrauding a Hollywood dot com millionaire to help Hillary Clinton obtain more than $1.2 million from him for her 2000 Senate campaign, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Aurelio Munoz ruled on Friday, April 25, 2008 that Hillary Clinton would not be required to testify in a sworn deposition as a material witness in the case until AFTER the November election!." (paulvclinton.com)

Here is the kicker – the judge is a Bill Clinton appointee!

  6. Thank You Democrats

This is pure politics. The Clinton's dirties and worst politicians around. They will say anything including lying to get your vote. A vote for Hillary is a vote for McCain. If you think Obama is unelectable, then you have forgotten the dirty politic years of Billary in the White House.

I was wondering why no one is bringing up Bill Clinton's affairs and wrongdoings. The news media is dead set on bringing up Rev. Wright all the time and degrading Obama. Why don't they bring up the Clinton's wrong doings and focus on that for a while. I think the are being a little one sided

anon, Obama supporters continue to try to drag out this dead horse named Peter Paul. Unfortunately for you, this is old news that has been refuted. Any fool can bring a lawsuit but the so-called evidence is nonsense. Paul is a convicted felon and his claims and bogus video are on factcheck.org for all to see. A co-producer of Paul's silly video challenged factcheck and factcheck reviewed their facts and found no reason to change their findings. This is just grasping at straws, trying to sling some mud to see if it will stick. It won't and you just sound desperate.

Your post has nothing to do with the gas tax. Plus, Robert F. Kennedy Jr's remarks make it clear that there are Kennedy's supporting Hillary Clinton.

She is obviously trying to spin it so she is the one the the Supers stole the nomination from AGAINST the will of the people as the Champion of the little guy....Now I am the anti establishment, defender of the common man....From the looks of things, I would be anti-establishment as well, considering her and Bill appear to be no longer the Establishment in the DNC

Obviously her camp has told her that she does not have the Supers, which is no surprise..I think tomorrow could be a BIG day for Barack, then again, never count out the Clintons......

This sounds ominously like George Bush's "you're either with us or you're with terrorists" statement.

Well, if that story is true that and I quote Senator Clinton "It’s kind of like a little bit of a confessional when somebody comes and says, ‘You know I voted for George Bush, and I’m really sorry.’”

At least that voter is more honorable that Senator Clinton who will not applogise for voting for the war least she admit she was wrong. After all she is never wrong even what caught red handed lying about sniper fire saying she misspoke... Ironic!!!!

To Anon, please don't forget to create your own movement on the Reszko trial that is going on in Chicago, ask Obama about it he can tell you more. For those of you who think Obama is not involved up to his eyeballs, you better think again. Reszko used corrupted money to help Obama purchase his home. so while you're blogging, blog THAT.

Since the media is refusing to reveal/report the Paul vs Clinton fraud case in court right now, we need to create our own movement and flood every blog on CNN and every blogging website on the World Wide Web with information from the case regardless of what the topic is. For those that don't know – Google Paul vs Clinton and hold on to your shirt with what you read!!
For those of you who think this case has been thrown out or is irrelevant:

"In the landmark civil fraud case against Bill Clinton in Los Angeles, where the former President is charged with defrauding a Hollywood dot com millionaire to help Hillary Clinton obtain more than $1.2 million from him for her 2000 Senate campaign, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Aurelio Munoz ruled on Friday, April 25, 2008 that Hillary Clinton would not be required to testify in a sworn deposition as a material witness in the case until AFTER the November election!." "With us or against us"?? "Taking on oil companies"??? "Take a side"???
Am I the only one tired of this divisive rhetoric? Hillary, stick to what you do best: making back room political deals, unapologetically helping to send over 4,000 troops to their deaths, and of course pretending to be from any state that is politically expedient for you.
How do you sleep at night? Alone – if I had to guess.

Anon Paul vs. Clinton is old news even Bill O'Reilly didn't ask her about it vs. if it were Obama and Rev. Wright. Really you Obama supporters look idiotic bringing this up in every blog. Your only hurting your candidate as he is going to be the nominee anyway so whats the point. You should be concentrating on how Obama is going to beat McCains since he is behind in the polls for the general.

Well, I am surprised that Clinton still does not get it! All what lie ahead of her is that her boddies, superdelegates, will leave Clintons one afer another. She is simply eatiing up what she seeded. How stupid!

You don't have to do anything the CLinton's say and neither do you She is an idiot. She is so self important it makes me sick. Every time she is on the TV I turn it off. There will no uniting the Dem party behind the Clinton's. That will not happen. The American voting public will see to that. We are smarter and wiser than that.

  25. Animal Farm

    A quote from the HuffingtonPost

"Aides to Clinton could not, when asked, point to a single non-political expert who supported such a proposal, saying simply that it is a president's prerogative when to take expert advise.

"We believe the presidency requires leadership," said Wolfson. "There are times that a president will take a position that a broad support of quote-unquote experts agree with. And there are times they will take a position that quote-unquote experts do not agree with."

Aren't we trying to shake off the last 8 years of an Administration that ignored expert advise – Iraq, Global Warming, etc? Isn't it elitist to think you have better judgement than people who live and breath these disciplines?

This is Animal Farm-ish – Hillary is slowly but surely beginning to look like Dubya and his Administration. To hell with everybody else, I know what's right.
